This book has a totally different feel to the previous ones but it's still so good! It opens with a bang and then goes smoothly till the end until you get hit with the fourth story and are left with so many questions!

The first story had the best foreshadowing of all the stories in the series and the ending hits so hard! It evokes the fear that everyone can relate to and it keeps you on edge. Interesting thing to note is the violence gets more and more descriptive. In first volumes we had mostly vague descriptions or the stories were cut before the most violent part. Here we really got a lot of very vivid descriptions which added to the feeling of dread, it was great. This story immediately became one of my favourite, seems all my favourite stories will have Foxy in them.

Second story was totally different to what we got used to and I was pleasantly surprised. I liked the main character and her background and how her story was told. Also it confirmed a few things about one of the animatronics, which is great.

The thirds story is also unique and really interesting. Since I know the games and all theories I was not surprised about one of the plot twists nevertheless we got SO much info regarding lore and animatronics and everything that is going on behind the scenes! I did not expect to get certain things to be addressed so directly and it's awesome!

And don't even start me on the fourth story, I have so many more questions now! Can't wait for Matt's theory on this.

In general I'm really glad that the stories have better pacing now. In the first volumes introductions to the characters were sometimes so long and exhausting and now everything reads so smoothly and quickly. It's such a shame this volume was so short but the content was top notch!

I’ve read 12 of these scary short stories and I am liking that they all kind of have a connecting theme, but the endings are always surprising. Some end very darkly and some are more resolved and friendly. Keeps things interesting

Step Closer 3/5

I am u sure how to feel about this story. It feels very much like a final destination movie which I don’t think is bad but when Foxy is the prime antagonist I feel so much more could have been done. To be positive I did like the sibling rivalry and then closeness in the story. I also did like the ending, it was quite unexpected the way it happened. You were basically told early in what would happen to the main character just like final destination and you were kind of waiting to see how it happened and when I did it actually shocked me and was a cool end of the story reveal. Despite that I felt like it was incredibly short and could have used more time to flesh out the brother’s bond and to explain at least to the smallest extent, what is going on with Foxy. Still just wish foxy had a bigger role as I was very excited to see him in this story. Not a bad story but not a great one for me either.

Dance With Me: 2.5/5

I do not like giving this one such a low score as a 2.5 but it really was a disappointing Fazbear frights book. Let me start by saying that the main character was great, easily my favorite part of the entire story, who whole character arc and growth in the end was great and I think the author did a perfect job with this. With that being said this story is basically the main character just trying to correct the wrongs she has done. Which is not a bad story per se but there is little to no horror aspects at all. Ballora is supposed to be the antagonist and causing the change in the main character but she is no threat whatsoever and in all reality was not even real. Ballora is not only a non existent threat she is hardly in the story. I understand the character work and believe me it was great but why just show horn Ballora in there to make it a fnaf story when she has way more potential.

Coming home: 4.8/5

This story was great, especially for the lore it entailed for fnaf. The explanation/backstory of the missing soul in chica was great. I will admit I do not think this is a story I will go back and read just because it doesn’t have that kind of story, I still think it was awesome. I was genuinely surprised to see where the story was headed and was thinking of what is going to happen and then seeing it be fulfilled was just magical. The split perspectives as well in the story really provide depth to both the main characters in how they are feeling throughout each situation. This story is both sad and heartwarming at the same time and the horror elements are done so well it feels like the original fnaf game if that even makes sense. I cannot appreciate this story enough I do think it is a great read for any dedicated fnaf fan and/or someone who loves the lore of fnaf. I know these books are not in the games timeline but to have the childhood and life of one of the original murder children just helps show the depravity of what is going on in the background of each of the games we play.

*Step Closer* 5/5

It had everything I've wanted from the stories! It had suspense, good characters and the whole story itself was sooo good. But I guess that Foxy had a big deal with my enjoyment, love the animatronic and this story makes him even more terrifier than he already was. At the end I couldn't put the book down, and actually shed a tear.

*Dance With Me* 4,5/5

I just love the character and the character development, it could've been a bit longer. When she had left, everything in the story went very fast. You can relate to the character through the story, still want to know how AJ and Jack turned out and if they will try to find Kasey.

*Coming Home* 4,2

It was such a good story. Buuut, at first I didn't understand the parts where Susie came in, some were in the past I believe. And towards the end it was clearly Susie as "ghost" living by the sides of het loved ones even though they didn't know. Samantha could feel her energy and it was just a heartwarming story. The thing with the doll was kinda random in my opinion but I still liked it alot and I would definently recommend people to read this story.

Once, Samantha had forgotten part of a school project. She and her mom were rushing around already because her mom had overslept. They had finally run out of the house and to the car, and her mom had only driven as far as the bottom of their driveway, when Samantha realized what she'd left behind in her room.
"I have to go back," she said.
Her mom hit the brakes so hard Samantha's head shot forward and back. She figured her mom would quickly drive back up to the house. Instead, her mom bent over and pounded her head several times on the steering wheel. She whispered something over and over while she did it. Samantha thought it sounded like, "I can't do this."

In my review of 1:35 AM (Fazbear Frights #3), I stated it was the worst book in the series so far by a small margin. Step Closer is the new worst book in the series so far, and this time by a fairly large margin. It's also in the opposite way to 1:35 AM; while that book had 3 great stories and 1 mediocre one, this book has 3 mediocre stories and 1 fantastic one.
Step Closer, the titular and first story, is a disappointedly simple plot with very strange choices. The premise is that a boy, through bullying his younger brother, accidentally inflicts a curse on himself that causes him to constantly be in peril from specific injuries across many different situations, seemingly part of a plan to permanently deform him. While pretty much every previous main Frights story had some level of complexity to their plot and morals, this one doesn't really at all; it's just a repeated fest of comedic injuries. The characters themselves and their interactions are also very weird, especially when it comes to the protagonist's parents. The horror is decent though, and like with 1:35 AM I do really love the ending, so overall I have no strong feelings. 3 stars.
Dance With Me, the second story, is quite honestly the exact same story as 1:35 AM. A group of thieves including our protagonist steal a woman's handbag, and when our protagonist looks through it she finds a pair of glasses from an animatronic entertainment establishment which reveal to her a holographic character constantly stalking her. Already, it sounds similar to the plot of 1:35 AM, but the similarities get even more frequent; both protagonists work at a fast food establishment which they have trouble at, both attempt to flee their hometowns to escape from their anomalous stalker, and both stories overall are metaphors for fleeing from your past. Dance With Me does not improve much on what 1:35 AM failed at, but it does improve a little. While it's hardly any scarier than 1:35, it does provide a more interesting cast of characters and a better overall meaning to its storytelling, so it ends up a little better, but still not great. Another 3 stars.
Coming Home, the third story, is astonishingly tied (at this point) for the best story in the series with Out of Stock from Fetch. It focuses on a pair of sisters who have been torn apart by the worst tragedy imaginable; one of them has been murdered. It dives into much deeper and darker human complexities than other stories as it realistically and emotionally explores a family tragedy, while even putting in some well-fitting supernatural activity that FNaF fans expect. Fans may also appreciate how the focal character is directly paralleling one of the human characters from the game series; although they are not exactly the same. I give this one 4 and a half stars.
With the bonus epilogue, we return to mediocrity with the new worst story in the series; pretty much just a weak dialogue exchange between two new characters adding some context to the mystery of the previous epilogues' plotlines. The character writing is pretty off in my opinion, but it is at least funny, and there is one event that is pretty terrifying. In the end though, it gets 2 and a half stars.
Overall, it's hard to recommend this one; while it has one of the best stories in the entire franchise, everything else is not really worth reading. Maybe see if you can find a discount on it, or get it at a library to just read Coming Home.

Step Closer - 1/5 stars for Villianising Organ Donation
This story just straight up pisses me off as someone who knows how important organ donation is.
1. It's incredibly inaccurate. Eyes cannot be donated as a whole and only parts are usable. Most donations can only happen if the person is declared Braindead, due to how quick decay begins.
2. They are already unfounded fears around organ donation so why villainize the process,
3. it's just a supernational story and has nothing to do with Foxy. This series has always had a supernational aspect but this one is just a cruse story that doesn't link back.

Story #1 and #3 is good BUT dance with me is just... not so good. I don't like it, its dull, its boring, and just not my cup of tea (or coffee or cocoa.) The cause and effect that take place make sense but its just boring! step closer had me at tears not go to lie. coming home was confusing. And the S.W.C (stitchwraith chronicles) was real good and less confusing. but it had a lot of dialog.

thats all have to say,
see YOU on the flipside.

Definitely the weakest of the four volumes so far. Very low on horror and spook factor. The first story was certainly gruesome and had plenty of close calls that made it interesting but the final two had little suspense and very low stakes...the last one having none. The two stories were actually ones of redemption and hope. Which was nice but not what I want when I pick up a FNAF book. The final story seemed to hint at the game's canon and one of the abducted/murdered children but I agree with the character in the story "why the eff is Chica here?" LOL. Shoe-horned in. Hoping the next volume goes back to the spooky stories!

MY FAV SO FAR, finally!! A book that outdid into the pit, step closer was the gorey scary mess we needed with foxy making his story debut, ballora making her debut in dance with me which was amazing, and finally susie&chica making their appearance in coming home, finally showcasing a sadder side of the fnaf universe without relying on shock factor, if I had to rank them It’d go as follows, Coming home, dance with me, step closer (it was extremely hard to rank them as they’re all so good!!!!!!!)

Another great book in this series. This edition draws a lot more from the lore of the games than past editions, but otherwise is on par in terms of quality and enjoyability. I am actually really impatient for the next book to come out in September - these books are addictive.

Best FNaF book I've read so far!!! Even better than the first. I am currently in tears writing this after reading the last stories ending.

The last two FNaF books haven't been great in my opinion but this one really did not let me down.

The first story was gruesome (for me at least). I hated the main character but also related to his emotions throughout the story. The ending was both depressing and terrifying and I loved it.

The second story wasn't really scary but that's not a bad thing. It was a really beautiful story and I loved the ending. It was really sweet and I read through it really quick.

The last one... I just finished it and feel broken. It was so sad, and well done, and its connection to the actual FNaF lore is so prevalent it's undeniable. This detail adds to the story so much more. I felt everything reading it, I was sad, I was scared, I was shocked, even sort of happy at the end. It was a truly beautiful story.

Best one yet, please read this, it was amazing!!!

This book was exceptional all three stories kept me on the edge of my seat. All the stories were full of suspense and fear. The details were extremely vivid that I could imagine every scene accurately. The endings of each story surprised me. Although., I wish there was a bit more suspense in the 2nd and 3rd stories. The 1st one was flawless in my opinion. All three stories have different themes, but my favorite one was the 1st one. “You can be a pirate, but first you have to lose an eye and an arm”. The protagonist encounters a robot that says the eerie quote. After that encounter he keeps experiencing accidents that could result in him losing an eye or an arm. The ending had me shook.

I don't have much to say about the other two, but "Coming Home" was a masterpiece and made me feel something for the first time in a very long time with this franchise. It centered the absolute tragedy of this story and for that it gets 5 stars. The others were okay, but that one earns the full rating.

This book, is one of the most impactful horror books that I have ever read. Most scary stories usually just include gore the spook out the reader but they never have a really impactful plot or message that really sticks with you. However, the ending's too many stories that this book contains are actually very impactful. For example, in the second story in this book "dance with me" (SPOILER ALERT!) When the main character Casey returns back the stolen money and items to the mother and daughter, the mother says "It's refreshing to see a real apology, consider yourself forgiven." on page 126. This part honestly, almost made me tear up because in the main characters entire life she has never been given that type of empathy before. That's why I think this book is just overall better and more impactful than other horror stories as it includes actual life lessons and meanings that most books like it don't contain.
