I burned through it in two days. Wonderful wonderful wonderful. Another great, immersive fantasy book (with some jaw-dropping moments and revelations) from Trompeter that draws you once again into the intertwining stories of Kettle, Iliana, Jace, and Bastian, their world, and its lore. The writing and magic system are clever, and Trompeter has a knack for adding depth to even minor characters. Can’t wait to rejoin my old friends for the third book and see how their paths continue to cross.
Blew my mind to such an extent that I can’t find the words to convey exactly how much my mind was blown. I don’t think I’ve ever been filled with as much anxious anticipation for something as I am right now, awaiting book three-and until its release, everyone in my life needs to prepare to hear about my endless love for these characters and this world.
You see, I was fine, we were all good, the story was making me feel satisfied as a good book should.
And then the last 2 chapters happened.
This book, like the previous, pulled me down several side alleys I didn’t even know were possible. I love this book. Trompeter and his extensive plot know no bounds and I loved every minute. Except the last Iliana chapter, cause now I’m sad >:(
Once again, the author drags you deep into the story and has you anxiously turning the pages to find out the fate of the characters. This is not a relaxing casual read, but an intense page turner that has you deeply invested in the tale.
The second book in this series has left me just as intrigued as the first. I love the character development of the main four and their constant battle of morals. The world building continues beautifully and the more I read the more I truly feel surrounded by the world. Wonderful book!
