Hoy les traigo la reseña de Travesía de dos hermanos por @authordanielfernandezmasis.
🔥 Una novela post-apocalíptica. Un mundo en el que los seres humanos dejaron de lado los valores y empezaron a sobreponerse a los demás con el fin de sobrevivir.
“…regresamos a nuestros instintos básicos y nos convertimos en presa o depredador. Nada nos separa del Reino Animal”
🔥 ¿Te imaginás viviendo en mundo así?
Nuestro mundo totalmente colapsado, peligroso e irreconocible.
“La escasez de recursos fue lo que destruyó la decencia y los valores humanos”
🔥 Nathan y Jay son nuestros protagonistas, ambos hermanos quienes viven en aislamiento tratando de sobrevivir y quienes harán lo que sea si alguno de ellos se encuentra en peligro.
Sin embargo, una serie de eventos se desencadenan haciendo que ambos salgan de la “seguridad” de su “hogar” para enfrentarse en un mundo mucho más peligroso de lo que creían.
🔥 Tendrán que tomar una decisión: quedarse tranquilos y seguir con la vida en la que siguen o salir y luchar por su familia, por la humanidad y por un mundo mejor.
🔥 No es solo una historia de sobrevivencia sino también de la importancia del amor, de la esperanza, del valor y la familia.
▪️A pesar de no ser muy amante de las historias apocalípticas, disfruté de este libro, la cual cuenta con capítulos cortos, fáciles de leer.
Las partes de acción, me gustaron bastante.
🔺Si sentí en algunos diálogos y escenas un poco repetitivas pero por lo demás ha sido un lectura muy amena.

▪️Todo comenzó hace siete años cuando la naturaleza se apoderó de lo que le correspondía, dejando a la humanidad extinta, y por extinta me refiero a los valores que forman a un ser humano; simplemente se hace lo necesario para sobrevivir 😨. ▪️James y Nathan son dos hermanos que durante esta apocalipsis han vivido aislados en su casa, tomando las medidas necesarias para sobrevivir, sin embargo ese aislamiento no les ha permitido conocer la realidad de la situación actual en el mundo 😬. ▪️Un día todo se complicó, Nathan fue atacado y James fue capturado, dándole a cada uno una muestra de lo que sucedía más allá de su hogar, la esclavitud había vuelto 😭. ▪️Tras un largo camino, Nathan y James vuelven a reunirse, en compañía de Silver 💕(una de mis personajes favoritas), y por una señal del destino, los tres emprenden un viaje para salvar a la humanidad 🥳, lo que no saben son las dificultades que se van a encontrar durante el camino, pero también habrá esperanza y un fuego que no se apagará nunca 🔥. ▪️De verdad no tienen idea de lo que disfrute este libro, aparte de ser en inglés y poder practicarlo y aprender una que otra palabra; es un libro escrito por un autor de mi bello país Costa Rica 🇨🇷.

This is crazy!!! What an amazing book! It is full of adventure, action, hope, brotherhood, hope... Hope! Everything (and more) you need for a dystopian book.
I really enjoyed reading this book, I found myself thinking during the day what was going to happen next but also not wanting to know.
I loved that there were a lot of surprises and sometimes you felt like something was going to happened in a way( cause that's what we are used to) and happened not! Or happens in a very unexpected way... This, you will find a lot.
I got to say this. This is a very well written book, the author definitely took his time to review every aspect of the story and for that I'm thankful!
I recommend this book to everyone looking for some action, adventure, unexpected, hopeful, just a little bit of romance and some nice future for a very hurt humanity book.
My favorite character is definitely little brave James ❤️

Un libro que me generó muchas sopresas. Cuando lo compré en la Feria del Libro del 2022 me llamó la atención, pero después de leerlo puedo decir que superó lo que yo esperaba. Una vez iniciado, vas a querer seguir leyendo todo lo que puedas. Es la segunda vez que lo leo y quedo igual de fascinado. Super recomendado

Tale of Two Brothers nos cuenta la historia de Natan y Jay, hermanos que luchan por sobrevivir en un mundo que no es como lo conocemos. "El Día" marcó un antes y un después en la humanidad, el mundo pasó a manos de la naturaleza, dejando al ser humano en segundo plano, volviendo a épocas de esclavitud y supervivencia del más fuerte.
Este libro me lleno de emociones, reí, llore, y disfrute de cada página y el único punto negro que encontré en mi lectura es que me hubiera gustado un poco más de desarrollo sobre el pasado de los personajes principales, sin embargo recomiendo mucho su lectura.
Agradezco a Daniel por esta gran obra. Orgullo costarricense.

Tale of two Brothers is a story that will make you dream of a new and better World. Also, the way that is written will make you scream and cry with the diffrent adventures. We need a preview and a follow up book because we have a lot of questions. I really enjoy reading it.

Sinceramente, cuando comencé a leer este libro no me esperaba nada de lo que leí.
No sé porqué me imaginaba una trama de "crecimiento personal" pero en un ambiente de un mundo post-apocalíptico.
Quizá es el nombre y la portada que inspiran estos sentimientos.
Pero la trama se basa en dos hermanos: Nate y James que tienen que sobrevivir a la adversidad después de que un desatre apocalíptico arrasara con la humanidad. (sinceramente me gustaría haber tenido claro que fue lo que pasó exactamente).
Pasan 7 años y sólo un hermano, el mayor Nate, es que sale a la calle con todo el peligro a buscar alimento. James que apenas es un adolescente no es permitido por Nate para salir.
Hasta que algo le pasa a Nate y James tiene que salir a buscarlo.
La historia va mucho más allá. Nos encontraremos con enemigos que quieren acabar de manera psicópata con lo poco que queda de la humanidad, con gente que tiene miedo de hacer algo. Y con sobre todo: poderes.
Además, de mucha acción, guerra y demás.
Sí te gustan las tramas tipo The Walking Dead, La quinta Ola, Los 100 y demás, esta historia te encantará.
Además de que tiene un poco de romance.

Si estás buscando una historia con mucha acción y un pelín de fantasía, si no tienes problema con la sangre, si te gustó The Walking Dead: este libro es para vos.
Esta es la historia de cómo viven dos hermanos tras corromperse la humanidad. Y como las circunstancias los empujan a soñar con un futuro más allá de sobrevivir.
Pros ✅
-La historia se cuenta desde el punto de vista de los dos protagonistas y está bien lograda la diferencia entre la narración de cada uno.
-Tiene un poquito de romance, y el interés amoroso es un personaje femenino interesante y fuerte.
Contras ⛔
-Hay varias escenas (sobretodo en la mitad) sumamente repetitivas. Sentía que le sobraban páginas.
-El desarrollo de la historia es lineal y sin muchas sorpresas.
-Los personajes son blanco y negro, buenos muy nobles sin razón y malos muy malos porque si.
-Quedan varias preguntas sin contestar. No quiero hacer spoiler, pero voy a decir que le hace falta un prólogo o algo.
Este libro está tanto en inglés como en español y lo pueden conseguir en Amazon o directamente con el escritor ❤️🇨🇷.

Deeply emotional narrative. Harsh story of a dystopian reality
The author presents a heartbreaking story through the eyes of two brothers and the love they mutually feel for each other while surviving a post-apocalyptic event (which is never explained what it was, and that's part of the mystery the author wants us to keep about the story).
The narrative is 100% linear but excellent and profusely descriptive, and the switching between one brother and the other gives the story a good pace and "fills the gaps" from chapter to chapter. However, at some points, this strength becomes a weakness, as the narrative becomes somehow tiresome and repetitive.
Nonetheless, it's a great story of perseverance, survival, valor, and love against all odds, with a nice surprising twist I'll let other readers to discover for themselves, as I fully recommend this wonderful book.

This is 5/5 because is an exciting story, it shows many values in a dystopian world.
It's an original story, full of family love, adventures, etc.
Nate & Jay, the 2 brothers, have to face their biggest fears and a strong enemy: Cold.
They meet a lot of good people that had suffer even more than them, and all together face their enemy.
The end is quite exciting and different as I expected.
Positive of this book:
*I loved the differences that the author makes between chapters and characters.
*The end of the story is more intense than I expected and the journey of the brothers around pages isn't easy at all.
*There are some female steong characters.
I loved the last chapters.
*The characters are very well described and they have a good and well constructed story.
I need more of this dystopian world.
Please, read it, you won't regret it.

Not what I was expecting, and I loved the twist in the story
I enjoyed the book very much, and it kept me on my toes with all the twists and turns, and it has a very good storyline. It's basely a story of good over evil. What you can do when you put heart into solving an issue that you think is too great to conquer

March 9, 2022Bueno, nada que me agrade más que ese estilo narrado por los personajes. Este libro en definitiva supera las espectativas de cualquiera que se atreva a abrir sus páginas.

In this book we find a pair of brothers, Nathan the oldest and Jay the youngest. The Day happened and nothing was ever the same, their parents are gone and now is a fight for survival. Humanity is at risk and they have to do everything in their power to stay safe and alive. The world is at peril and The Day marked a before and after for everyone.
Challenges arise and we get to witness the struggles the couple of brothers face, it's not easy for either of them, every time either of them leave their house is a constant, looming danger on their heads.
It was definitely a different genre for me to read, and I was pleasantly surprised. You can see how Nate and Jay evolve and become different men by facing true horrors that no one their age should. The plot was completely well put together, Daniel did a pristine job with this book. Tale Of Two Brothers will keep you on the edge of your seat, anxiously waiting for the next thing to happen, good or bad.
As the story progresses you find yourself captivated by the secondary characters and their stories, The Day affected everyone and nothing has been the same. You find yourself contemplating and self reflecting on what would you do if you were faced with such a drastic change, watching everyone lose their morals and values for the sake of surviving, who would you protect? where would you hide? You challenge yourself with many questions as you read Nate and Jay's story.
The action parts were flawless in my opinion, you could imagine everything as your eyes went through those parts, you could feel the energy, the feelings the characters experiment as they fight for their lives.
The ending was... well, you'll have to read it to experience it yourself! You won't regret it! I cannot wait for what's next for Daniel!

This book! OMG, Este libro es mucho más de lo que esperaba! No es predecible y eso es lo mejor de un libro!
Ver a Jay madurar fue una experiencia increíble!

WOW! What an amazing journey this books was! Two brothers looking for their family in a post apocalyptic world full of dangers. Adventure, fights, brotherhood, suspense, villains... Trust me, this book will keep you at the edge of your seat! This is the first book of a young and talented author who Im sure has a great future ahead.

Daniel Fernandez won me as fan with this book.
All you know when you are reading this book is that something intense is around the corner and you find yourself looking forward to that. It may strike you when you least expect it. Couple of times I was left speechless and that makes me love a book.
The author's writing is clever, impeccable, and easy to follow which I really enjoyed.
As an English teacher I would recommend this book for my upper intermediate+ students.
The two main characters who are brothers and tell us their story, are well defined, providing the reader with engaging nuances of the same story, seen from two different points of view. I find this brilliant.
Both characters delve very deeply into their own thoughts, fears, doubts and hopes. You get to see them maturing throughout the story. The descriptions of places, people, weather conditions, situation and feelings give the readers vast resources to create a mental picture of this world in which they must survive.
Some of the chapters are lengthy which can be a little discouraging for me, added to this, I found that the constant internal turmoil and description of thoughts, insecurities and expectations from the two brothers can be repetitive and made me lose track.
Nonetheless, it’s a must-read for someone who enjoys post-apocalyptic dystopian literature and great journeys that require bravery. I utterly recommend it.

Conoceremos, mediante el uso de la primera persona, a ambos personajes con una gran profundidad: su fortaleza, el amor que se profesan y su lucha por vencer.
El autor utiliza un vocabulario muy amplio y variado, consiguiendo definir cada momento con exactitud. Los capítulos en general son cortos, por lo que la lectura es amena.
Daniel ha logrado transmitir la oscuridad de la situación postapocalíptica, el miedo que tienen los personajes y su afán incansable por vencer.
Al tratarse de un thriller con toques de fantasía, he disfrutado doblemente de esta historia. Además, los personajes son increíbles y la historia está muy bien desarrollada.

Este es mi primer acercamiento a la narrativa de Daniel Fernández (gracias a la gentileza del propio autor) y, en síntesis, diré que es una muy buena opera prima. Considero que el autor logró capturar el tono exacto de una ficción distópica y desarrolló una trama que, aunque sencilla, es cautivante y hace que el lector quiera conocer el final. Como todo, existen aspectos en que se puede mejorar, y, personalmente, considero que el principal es el de los personajes.

Punto(s) alto(s): La historia es muy interesante y el lector quiere saber qué más va a suceder. La narrativa es sencilla y la forma de escribir es fácil de seguir.
Punto(s) bajo(s): Nathan, uno de los personajes principales, en muchos casos se usa casi que como un deus ex machina. El papel de Silver se desdibuja mucho en medio de la historia. Sentí algunas inconsistencias en el personaje Jay.

Daniel Fernández, el autor, nos permite conocer la vida de Nathan y James, dos hermanos, en un momento en el que su historia describe una travesía arriesgada, adversa, decepcionante, dolorosa, pero sobre todo vulnerable y resiliente, llena de fortaleza, de respeto y mucho valor.
En la historia, a partir de un hecho desconocido que acontece en “El Día”, Nate y Jay habitan en un mundo convulso, cruel, que les obliga a sobrevivir y les amenaza con arrebatarles lo poco valioso que les queda. Conocen a Silver, quien también ha vivido en carne propia la injusticia de un mundo en el que nadie merece vivir, gracias al mortal Imperio de Cold. Él es el más cruel y apestoso de los personajes de esta obra y no existe manera de que alguien se identifique con él o sus acciones.
Comprendiéndose desde sus pérdidas y dolor causado por Cold y su ejército; Nathan, James y Silver no pueden conformarse con olvidar lo sucedido, con cruzarse de brazos, vivir ocultándose, alertas, o esperando la muerte. Por esto, eligen luchar por construir para todas las personas un mundo en Paz, dónde se honren las muertes inocentes, donde se transite buscando siempre el bien común, sin embargo; esta decisión implica para ellxs declarar una guerra abierta a Cold para acabar con todas sus formas de violencia.
Así, Daniel describe detalladamente la Travesía de dos hermanos y su amiga. Con un estilo cálido y cercano, lleno de inteligencia emocional, con notas de humor en la justa medida y profundo respeto por la humanidad compartida, logra dar a la persona lectora una experiencia plena de lo vivido por lxs tres muchachxs.
La pasión, la valentía, el miedo, la fortaleza, la sinceridad amorosa propios de la juventud y la adolescencia son valores que leemos con facilidad en lo vivido por lxs personajes y que contrarrestan tanta violencia innecesaria ejercida por Cold.
Con nuevas motivaciones para construir un mundo distinto lxs tres chicxs se proponen identificar a más personas como ellxs, personas que a partir de lo vivido, estén dispuestas a formar un ejército cargado de esperanza como combustible. Esta es, para mí, una de las partes más emocionantes de la historia, conocemos más personajes, sus vidas, cualidades, sus dolores.
Llevar a este ejército resiliente y vulnerable a la guerra es un reto que nunca, entre las palabras, deja de verse como un riesgo latente. Las últimas cien páginas son intensas.
Travesía de dos hermanos es una historia de fantasía narrada por Nate y Jay, ambos se alternan los treinta y un capítulos escritos orgánicamente. Cada hermano retoma las situaciones desde su perspectiva, de un capítulo a otro, completamos los eventos que van experimentando mientras avanzamos en la entretenida lectura.
Esta obra habla de valores, describe el hermoso proceso de crecimiento de lxs personajes, de la familia, la resiliencia, la vulnerabilidad y la esperanza, de la búsqueda de la Paz y el bien común en el mundo.

In the aftermath of a natural cataclysm that decimated natural resources across earth, two brothers set up camp in an abandoned area of what was once the United States. Due to the paucity of resources, the brothers face unimaginable perils each day from marauders and herds of gangs pillaging anything in their path. Paranoia and adrenaline are constant realities for the two brothers; peace is a mirage.
One day, one of the brothers, Jay, is kidnapped by a renegade gang, which is capturing and enslaving as many people as they can in an effort to gain control of the region. Nathan, the other brother, plots to save Jay and meets Silver, a sort of femme fatale, who is about as good at combat as the guys are. Eventually, all three plot a rebellion against the marauding gang, led by a thug named Cold, who is seeking a national tyranny of sorts and burning villages that oppose him. The last part of the book–which on occasion descends into rambling action scenes–feels almost like a flashback to Vietnam, but in an Americanized milieu.
Author Daniel Fernández Masís imbues his prose throughout TALE OF TWO BROTHERS with indelible internal soliloquies by the characters, ones that are both stirring battle cries for human freedom, but also valuable insights into humanity coerced into extreme conditions. Thoughts and feelings deep within our minds and souls hang on, in solitude, to the notion of life without restraints and violence.”

Tale of Two Brothers has the power to catch you and make you become one more character of the story.
What I most enjoyed of this book was feeling so close to its main characters; experience fear, anger, sadness, love and hope through them.
It was interesting to experience many emotions in a context where it became almost impossible to feel and enjoy as a human being, and to remember just the most beautiful things about being a person.

El libro nos cuenta la historia de dos hermanos que viven en un mundo post-apocalíptico, donde la violencia y los horrores están a la vuelta de la esquina. Estos hermanos han tenido que sobrevivir sin sus padres hace siete años y no se tienen más que el uno al otro.
Es por eso, que un día el hermano mayor debe salir a rescatar un recurso muy valorado y no logra regresar, por lo que su hermano menor sale de la seguridad de su casa para buscar a Nathan.
Es así, que James es secuestrado por Cold y sus soldados despiadados. Es aquí, donde conoce a Silver y se proponen escapar en busca de su hermano.
El libro está narrado por ambos hermanos en cada capítulo, mostrando desde su punto de vista todo lo que va sucediendo. Además de lo que ya mencioné, ambos hermanos se dan cuenta que poseen poderes mágicos, no les quiero contar mucho de esto para que puedan descubrirlo por ustedes mismos.
El libro me gustó bastante, los personajes están bien construidos, la trama la encontré muy original y la forma de narrarla hace que te introduzcas de lleno en la historia.
Como punto negativo, diría que algunos capítulos son demasiado extensos, lo que hizo la lectura un poquito más pesada, pero no es algo que repercuta en la historia.
Les recomiendo mucho este libro, tiene un nivel de inglés intermedio, por lo que no es tan difícil de leer si tienen una base de inglés.

Me gustó mucho este concepto post apocalíptico donde las personas desarrollan poderes. Siento que es un universo que se puede explorar más. Las únicas cositas que no me cuadran son el hecho de que casi no se explica que fue lo que pasó, se dice que la naturaleza, pero en verdad nunca vemos como la naturaleza les afectó. Digo porque andan por el bosque como si solo fuera un bosque virgen. Otra cosita, es que se volvió muy lento cuando se ponen a buscar las aldeas, se volvió repetitivo en ciertos sentidos hasta que se separaron. Por todo lo demás me gustó, tiene personas bonitos. Jay me sacó las canas pero seguro yo soy peor en el Apocalipsis.

I really enjoyed reading this book, it's a thriller and it takes you to a whole different world where you can tell what's ahead of their journey. It's beautifully written, the narrative keeps you engaged with the story and the characters, it is very hard not to relate to them. This book kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time and I couldn't read fast enough until I finished. The development of the characters and events during the book is so detailed that you can really feel you're in it. A great book and written with such care and passion from the author.
