Chase Fulton #17

The Hollow Chase

Rate this book
As former American covert operative Chase Fulton struggles to adapt to life on the sidelines following a catastrophic injury, he finds himself waging a battle like none he’s ever faced.

From learning to walk again with his new prosthetic to following his long-deceased mentor back into the classroom, Chase fights desperately to fill the emptiness left by his inability to remain on the front lines of America’s clandestine war with the unending phalanx of enemies at the gate.

Hope is reborn when a mission arises demanding not only Chase’s unique skill set, but also his intellect and intuition. Can he answer the call of the battlefield without losing his grasp on the world that seems to reject him at every crossroad? Can he find a way to meld the dichotomy of his life on and off the plains of war without his sanity crumbling into the chasm of his desperation?

Is this the end or merely the genesis of a new battle plan to thrust Chase Fulton back to the forefront of the fight, where America and the Free World need him most?

Creator of The Chase Fulton Novels series and The Avenging Angel - Seven Deadly Sins Series, Cap Daniels is a former sailing charter captain, scuba and sailing instructor, pilot, Air Force veteran, and civil servant of the U.S. Department of Defense. Raised far from the ocean in rural East Tennessee, his early infatuation with salt water was sparked by the fascinating, and sometimes true, sea stories told by his father, a retired Navy chief petty officer. Those stories of adventure on the high seas sent Cap in search of adventure of his own, which eventually landed him on Florida’s Gulf Coast where he and his wife Melissa spend as much time as possible on, in, and under the waters of the Emerald Coast.

With a headful of larger-than-life characters and their thrilling exploits, Cap pours his love of adventure and passion for the ocean onto the pages of his action adventure series, The Chase Fulton Novels and his new series Avenging Angel - Seven Deadly Sins.

Inspired by the likes of John D. Macdonald’s Travis McGee, Randy Wayne White’s Doc Ford, and Wayne Stinnett’s Jesse McDermitt, Cap creates thrilling tales of action and adventure set throughout the Caribbean and coastal Florida and Georgia by intertwining nautical adventure with international espionage. Cap’s Chase Fulton Novels series promises to keep readers on the edge of their seats, trying to guess what new danger or adventure lies just around the corner.

The Avenging Angel - Seven Deadly Sins series is a spin-off starring the most controversial and intriguing character from the Chase Fulton Novels. After defecting to the United States, Anastasia "Anya" Burinkova, a former Russian SVR assassin and intelligence operative puts her lethal skill set into action against the powerful Russian Mafia. In this gritty, organized-crime thriller series, Cap Daniels takes his readers into the dark underworld of the Russian Mafia weaving actual events into fiction to leave the reader's heart pounding and their fingers itching to turn the page.

Another Great Adventure!!!

Well developed story and characters. Was great to know more about our characters and their struggles. Good to see Chase coming back from the dark. I could have done without the Anya in Chase's head story. Never liked the character or care for her. I am like Penny, don't have time for that and don't care.
Can't wait for the next adventure!!!

Well another Cap Daniels novel on Chase and another 5 stars. These books are great and I can't believe that I have already finished 17 off. Just can't quit reading them. I always love the read the author's notes at the end of the stories!

This one deals with the injury Chase got in the Smuggler's Chase. He is dealing with the lose of a foot and depression sets in with not being able to the be the leader and in the action as he is used to. One of my favorites of the team (well they are all my favorites), Mongo, is taking over temporarily while Chase is healing.

Never to far away though, is another mission this team has to take on. This time there is cartel that is trafficking drugs in a unique way, via the ocean. Tony will join them on this one and I really love that this character is back.

You just need to read these books as you will fall in the love the characters, the patriotism that flows from the pages, and the love between the members and their God. Beautiful writing!

I have read every one of the Chase Fulton novels which I thoroughly enjoyed and couldn't wait for the next. I was a bit disappointed in The Hollow Chase however and did not think that it was up to the author's usual standard of previous books. For me, it took a while to warm up and I was well into the book before there was any action starting to happen. It was also a bit darker than the previous books brought on by the different issues affecting various team members. I felt that it lacked the usual positivity that is found in the other books of the series. The ending also seemed very rushed to me as if the author needed to hurry up and finish this book. I would have liked to have been able to read another couple of chapters to round things up rather than everything being rushed and summed up in the last few pages and the epilogue.

DO NOT READ UNTIL...

DO NOT READ THIS IF YOU HAVEN'T READ SEVERAL OF THE PRECEDING BOOKS IN THE SERIES!  Here's the deal. In this book, Cap gets pretty deep into what this team means to each other. He's very eloquent about it, especially in chapter 3. You might give up on the book if you don't know what they've gone through together. I got pretty emotional about a couple of things that happened. In every book, the team becomes a little stronger, a little closer and a LOT more supportive of each other. That said, I really enjoyed the action that came along with the story. As usual, s**t happens and plans change. And... YAY! Earl plays a big part! Be sure to read the author's notes at the end.

Wow! I truly couldn't put this book down. You laugh, you cry, the action. Yikers! As always, great story with all action, even when there wasn't any. The struggle of a catastrophic injury was well described for Chase and the team. His team and their typical guy teasing/slams were spot on for the perfect reaction and how a team supports each other. I loved the Forest Gump Liechtenstein Dan one liner. I also like how Anya is still connected. Can't wait for the next one in a few months! Great job, Cap! 😁

Recovered Confidence

Mr. Daniels just keeps this team growing and getting better! He has developed great characters! I really admire what he has let Mongo become. Disco is becoming a capable member also. This story shows the versatile abilities of everyone and the desire of Chase to never give up! They have indeed become a family!
Please keep up the great stories and continue their adventures! Nobody ever comes through the same and that is just fine by me!

Left Wanting!

Once again I loved 85% of the book even though it was mostly storyline buildup and clarity. The problem came with the Op itself and the lack of depth and detail in how the actual Submarine retrieval was accomplished and the lack of clarity regarding the Sea battle... these things left me wanting more and somewhat disappointed! I'm always reticent to criticize Mr. Daniels because I love and enjoy his books solo much. However, I also have to be honest!

Captivating

Another smash story thriller from Cap Daniels. May his writer's pen & creative story lines never run dry. Reading Daniel's stories is a literary vacation, akin to sinking into a jacuzzi filled with hot salt water armed with a gallon of chilled margaritas, salt rimmed glasses, limes and a buxom buddy wearing a string bikini. A pure delight!
Looking forward to many more.
Thanks Cap, you make night time such a fun story-time & an adventurous occasion.

The action, the twists, the characters, the realism of it all; what is not to like about this next Chase Fulton adventure? They are all so good. Hollow Chase is all the more fascinating as we get into Chase's head as he wrestles to lead his team with his infirmity. Hollywood should make a series of shows. Cap Daniels is a superb writer. Can't wait for his next book.

Losing direction and gaining balance, the team gets support from directions old and new.

With personal adjustments to master, the team continues to serve the people while redefining limits. The ups and downs provide continued challenges for testing limits of skills and abilities that keeps readers interested. Great story!

Another great read

I find d it amazing how with every book Cap just keeps getting better and better . if you didn't start at book one of the series , you must get book one and follow Chase along his adventures. Cap Daniels starts a story line in book one and it carries thru the whole series. To fully enjoy the series again start at book one. You differently will enjoy to ride.

Seemed to me The Hollow Chase started out a little slow but did pick up. Chase deals with depression dealing with his injury but his team heads him in the right direction. Mongo proves to be a great leader and the team grows even closer. Tony makes a welcome addition to the group. Do we still need Anya’s presence in Chase’s thoughts? Especially enjoyed the “author’s note” at the end.

I have read all previous books in this series. They are fabulous. This last book the Hollow Chase bore me to death. I scanned pages ahead to just get thru it. Yes, i’ll keep reading the full series thru 31. I love this series but this one book i found almost to involved in info not needed for the story.

Cap Daniels, as usual, keeps us entertained from beginning to end. These poor guys have certain taking their share of injuries and soldiered right through them. I am looking forward to the next book.

Just wish Cap wrote faster

Another one finished and again I am left wishing there was another waiting. Chase’s leg might be hollow but there is nothing hollow about this book or series and having the new guy is gonna be fun too.

Another winner!

Cap Daniels continues to shepard his protagonist through fire and brimstone on another mission to protect our way of life. Even with one foot lost to a previous battle, super operative Chase Fulton fights on.

Another great Cap Daniel’s book

Chase is a terrific hero, just like Ben Porter in False Assurances, Threat Bias and Subversive Addiction. He comes out again in a new book, Vital Deception on April 15th!

Great

Chase's team continues to grow and improve. I know the next one is in July but I will await with baited breath. With a new ship and Tony onboard I am sure we will be in-store of many more great stories.

Heroes with one foot.

Not as good as the previous 16 books , but still a good storey.
The last couple of pages were the best part of the book.
Very glad Chase didn't lose his other foot or any other parts of his body....

Another Chase riveting adventure

A little too much time spent on team banter. But I get it. The author setting the stage for the reader to get to know the characters better. But the mission was over in a heartbeat. Looking forward to #18. Keep them coming, Cap.

Good, not great

I've read all the books in this series finding them entertaining and pretty well written. The main character spends more time than I like in deep thought and self reflection, but I like that there is an underlying faith in the team.

Chase starts a new chapter on a new foot!

Chase has an accident, has surgery, and has to come to grips with new situation in which he must adjust to his new role as leader. Mission is still accomplished, but Earl's big boat may not?
