A breakthrough solution from the author of This Naked Mind and the author of Alcohol Explained , to shift your mindset and help you quit smoking and vaping for good.
Tobacco is bad for us; that’s a given. But even though you may know the negative health effects, nicotine’s hold is strong, subconscious, and It tastes good, it’s a companion when you’re alone, and it can be a shield against stress. What if none of these things were true, though? What if nicotine actually tasted bad and didn’t make you less lonely? What if it didn’t relax you? It may seem hard to believe, and it’s okay to be skeptical, but coming to a new mindset about smoking and vaping is the key to quitting.
In This Naked Nicotine , Annie Grace and William Porter combine their trusted approaches to overcoming problem drinking—science-backed, habit-breaking systems that have worked for thousands—to vanquish tobacco addiction. Grace and Porter uncover the subconscious beliefs about smoking and vaping that keep us addicted to it despite its well-known costs. With thought-provoking questions and exercises that will spark clarity, this essential book will help you jump-start your no-smoking journey easily and heal your brain and body.
This book does a great job of explaining why we think we need nicotine, why we think it relieves stress, helps us relax or concentrate. As it turns out nicotine doesn’t do those things. A lot of the book references smoking but the author focuses on nicotine as the main problem which is good because this books works for vapers, chewers, Zyners. If you think nicotine makes your life better, give this a read.
Only 3 days off of my Zyns now but I’m feeling positive about quitting this time. I read This Naked Mind for alcohol and haven’t had a drink for 115 days. Just need her to come out with a Naked Mind for not eating entire rows of Double Stuf Oreos and then I think I’ll have all my vices kicked.
The only logical experience I’ve had in the fight against smoking. I spent a weekend with my closest friends with a vape glued to my person. It’s been 3 years of $120 a week, chest pain, anxiety.
While the first half was meaningful, the second half paired with it was another level of enlightening.
I threw my Juul away yesterday, and I will continue to fight this fight thanks to these two.
If you’re considering quitting, this is the book that can help you.
“Smoking is like the world giving you $100 dollars every puff, but simultaneously siphoning out all of your savings until you’re broke.”
WOW, this book is so good! Highly recommend for anyone curious about the effects of nicotine - whether you just know others with the addiction or have one yourself. I found it more interesting than a Netflix documentary ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
zero ZERO actual research - paraphrased version of Alan Carrs book
Genuinely hope that anyone who purchased this book found a shred of usefulness. Unfortunately, I am unable to brainwash myself with faulty anecdotes and unsubstantiated claims (however beneficial it may be in this case). Wish they would have included actual research and sources. The title is incredibly misleading and chapters almost identically mimic Alan Carr’s “The easy way to quit smoking” (which again, I’m sure many have found useful and don’t want to diminish any amount of helpfulness that may have occurred from reading this book). Overall, substantially lackluster. Wish I had better recommendations to offer but I have yet to find a more useful book at the moment.
The smokers really don’t experience life at its fullest. They are practically fully delusional about them and what smoking gives to them. 2/5 my reason is the fact that there were no sources? did the author/authors just came up with all those scientific facts and theories about nicotine or smoking in general? also, it was soooo repetitive, i was bored 60% of the time it was interesting to read about how the smoking feels and what it does to your body i am not a smoker and i haven’t been, i have read the book only of pure curiosity However, i strongly agree that smoking is not just bad for your health, it is damaging your whole life. It affects the feelings you experience, the high heart rate, the less energy to do physical activities, the less ability to deal with ordinary things from your daily life.
Okay! So although this book does have several spelling & grammatical errors, and leans a little too heavily on metaphors, I have been 73 days vape free and 46 days nicotine free so I think it’s deserves every star. I have tried quitting many times to no avail because I never truly wanted to stop. But the way this breaks down the myths of nicotine!!! I have for the first time been around nicotine smokers and in situations I would normally be super tempted/ craving nicotine and I feel not only fine but empowered even that I have stayed nicotine free. It’s truly mind blowing but I am so grateful for this book.
3.5 stars. A lot of errors in this version of the book. I think this is a wonderful companion to Carr’s book, I found a lot info in here extremely helpful and motivating.
Terrible. Endless, repetitive metaphors beaten to death, brought back to life, and beaten to death again.
There are no citations or sources. I wanted a science-based approach, which is what this book promises, and it thoroughly and utterly failed to deliver.
It's written poorly and I'm not quite sure how this is supposed to help anyone but I hope it does. Total waste of my money! This book is a lazy cash grab.
