Kristina Beck's latest, Trapped, is a new standalone, small town romance that is part of K. Bromberg's exciting Everyday Hero's world. This one starts off with an intense beginning- you can see what's coming but can't look away from it. The outcome of these circumstances have a long ranging ripple effect that wraps its fated hand around many people, bringing a full circle kind of anticipation for these characters futures along with it.
Reality show star, Charli is stuck with a life she is beginning to dread, but it didn't start out that way. Growing up as her dad's protege molded her into who she is now, one of the only women who knows which end of the hammer is up on a construction site. She is has it all- beauty, talent, wealth and a take no prisoners outlook on life. So, how did her life wind up in such a tangled mess? Stuck with someone she no longer loves, who is also her costar on their own popular home renovation show. Faking her feelings alongside him on a daily basis is breaking her. If her father could see her now, whatever would he say??
Kellan is the hunky guy, all business and a few years older, that Charli's been crushing on most of her life, but he doesn't seem to notice her at all. Her father saw a spark in Kellan as a teen, tucked him under his wing when he needed a man to set him on the right path and guide him through life. Time has marched on, that business is now his and the girl he always admired is living a big life without him in LA. She never knew his feelings for her, but there they still are, secretly smoldering away.
Driving home for the Thanksgiving holiday, his world and Charli's too, turns upside down- heartbreak in the blink of an eye as Kellan becomes a reluctant hero while Charli and her mother's worlds are forever changed. With the unthinkable comes a special gift, a second chance and possibly a new life with the man of her dreams.
With many hurdles, a few secrets, emotions running high and some crazy twists thrown in for good measure, this book also fans a sexy, slow burning flame and there's plenty of long awaited passion bubbling beneath the surface throughout. Kellan is a swoonworthy leading man- sweet, smart, loving and gorgeous. Charli is a quick thinking, tough cookie and earns every bit of respect that is owed her. Trapped is a metaphoric title in so many ways as the dual perspective, past/ present story kept revealing all their hidden truths. Kristina Beck is writing the kind of stories you just don't want to put down until they're completely finished. Trapped had all the romance and heat I hoped to find and the some, along with an intricately woven story that held my interest all the way through. I basically devoured this in one sitting and was thrilled to be given an early copy to read and review.
