My child was looking for more information on the Engima Machine from WWII and came across this book at the local library. ITs informative, but very dry. Also, this book covers such a wide timeline of codes/ciphers that it doesn't go into much detail on any of them. But, still works as an age-appropriate introduction for kids interested in spy craft.
