Boys and I enjoyed this one! Asher chose a bunch of “conspiracy theory” type books, and this one didn’t disappoint. It launched some great claim, evidence and reasoning discussions!
This is a book for kids but it actually has quite a bit of useful information. If you want to learn about Bigfoot and other cryptids without having to go into great depth this might be the book for you.
Engaging and Informative for Young Cryptid Enthusiasts! ★★★★☆¾
What Do We Know About Bigfoot? is a fascinating and well-balanced introduction to one of the most famous cryptids of all time. The book does a great job of presenting both the folklore and the science behind Bigfoot, covering famous sightings, alleged evidence, and actual scientific studies investigating the possibility of its existence.
What makes this book stand out is its ability to keep readers engaged while maintaining a level-headed approach—neither dismissing Bigfoot outright nor making exaggerated claims. The mix of historical accounts, pop culture references, and scientific inquiry makes it a fun and informative read for kids and curious minds of all ages.
If there’s any drawback, it’s that some readers might wish for a bit more depth on certain studies or a stronger conclusion on where the evidence stands. However, as part of the Who HQ series, it delivers exactly what it promises: a well-researched, easy-to-read overview of Bigfoot that will leave readers eager to search for footprints on their next hike!
Would definitely recommend it to young mystery lovers, budding scientists, and anyone intrigued by the unknown.
Presumably penned by a Big Cryptid lobbying group, this book has an obvious pro-Bigfoot-existing slant. There is a single chapter devoted to skeptical questions, with every objection to Bigfoot's existence getting unconvincing hand-waves.
Why hasn't a Bigfoot skeleton ever been found? Oh, they bury their dead. (And by implication, no Bigfoot ever dies alone, even though they're solitary creatures.) That's not convincing enough for you? Well, then they're just aliens and normal logic doesn't apply.
If you're going to write a "nonfiction" book for kids about a supernatural monster with no actual evidence for its existence, you need to do so in a way that encourages critical thinking. This kind of crap leads them down the primrose path to believe all kinds of nonsense.
Informative and provides a lot of discussion material as well as sources. It would be a great tool to use to introduce older elementary school children to research and debate. The topic is fun and the book covers other cryptids as well though not in as much detail. I liked this library book and I enjoyed the narrator.
I really enjoyed reading this with my 10 year old son, who is a huge believer in Bigfoot. I learned a lot from this little book, and so did he. I also like the timelines of events they always put at the end of these books.
More evolution then I cared for... I also didn't think this had quite as many eyewitness accounts as some of the previous books in this series that I've recently read. But, it still gives you a lot to think about.
I love the mysterious, so I think this is a fun book for kids who are also interested in mysteries of the natural world. This book might be enjoyed by kids who find the subject fascinating but otherwise dislike reading.
this book is about my sister....im joking.it has a lot of info about Bigfoot and ether creature but not a lot.i did not know if it is true but there pretty much aliens ? but u should see the 1967 movie.
Very interesting read! The book explains how Bigfoot got its name and the different sightings while carefully not making any conclusions about its existence or not.
This was a very fascinating book and told me lots of interesting stories and facts. I would recommend reading this book if you are interested in Bigfoot.
