Haunted Almanac

Rate this book
The Haunted Almanac is a 200-page anthology collecting almost the entirety of Nate Treme's body of work between 2018 and 2021. Most of it was released as small pamphlets, zines and other oddly-shaped minimalist formats through Highland Paranormal Society. All of these have now been masterfully redesigned by Guilherme Gontijo, to fit an A5 hardback.

Inside you will find:

Tunnel Goons & respective adventures
Prole & respective adventures
In the Light of a Ghost Star
Ten one-page minimalist games, including Radikal Quest
Five micro-settings, including Lost Isle and Doomlands
Over ten system-agnostic adventures, including Cursed Chapel of the Sludge Mother, Fever Black Mountain, Tomb of the Swine Prophet and What Child is this?

Ever dream of sending your players on a quest to deliver a divine baby? Or wanted spend an entire game flipping coins instead of rolling dice? Me neither, but Nate Treme does an amazing job is stretching his imagination and pushing (in some instances) the boundaries of table top gaming. In addition to tons of adventures, this book contains the very hackable rules set Tunnel Goons as well as Light of a Ghost Star, which is a sci-fi system & adventure one shot.

This gorgeous hard cover book has a very tasteful black paper trim that I just can't get enough of. The paper texture is smooth yet thick like a light weight construction paper. I don't usually talk about the physical qualities, but I love every aspect of this sexy book, even the groove at the top that goes around the front and back cover.

All in all, this is a fantastic collection of Nate's work. The adventures within range from whimsical to weird and wacky. None of the adventures are super dark or sexualized. Most of these would be suitable for young ones (YMMV) as well as the young at heart.

If your not sure if his style is right for you, check out the Highland Paranormal Society patron or itch.io. You can get Tunnel Goons there (which is a great game to get kids into TTRPGS on a budget) for free and some of his adventures.
