A Family Affair: The Vow

Rate this book
Rachel Darlington once believed she could achieve anything if she worked hard and followed a plan. But life had other ideas, ones she never anticipated. When a family emergency sends her back to her hometown of Magdalena, New York, the town has no idea her perfect life has fallen apart and she’s determined to keep the truth from everyone—especially Vic Tramont—the man she once rejected as not part of her life plan.

Vic is honest, kind, trustworthy, great to look at... He can have any woman he wants, but he’s only ever wanted one—Rachel Darlington—the woman who didn’t want him. But now she’s back in town and it’s going to be hard to ignore her or pretend the attraction isn’t as strong as ever. And Rachel’s going to have her share of regrets and what-if’s, most centered on the man she turned away.

It’s going to get complicated for this meant-to-be couple, but they won’t stand a chance unless they can let go of the past and open their hearts to each other and the future they could share.

Included in this e-book is an excerpt from Strangers Like Us, Book One in the Reunion Gap series.

When the son of the man who lost everything falls in love with the daughter of the man who stole it all, there can only be heartache ahead.

Mary Campisi is the author of over 40 emotion-packed novels that center around hope, redemption, and second chances.

Mary should have known she'd become a writer when at age thirteen she began changing the ending to all the books she read. It took several years and a number of jobs, including registered nurse, receptionist in a swanky hair salon, accounts payable clerk, and practice manager in an OB/GYN office, for her to rediscover writing. Enter a mouse-less computer, a floppy disk, and a dream large enough to fill a zip drive. The rest of the story lives on in every book she writes.

When she's not working on her craft or following the lives of five adult children, Mary's digging in the dirt with her flowers and herbs, cooking, reading, walking her rescue lab, Henry, or, on the perfect day, riding off into the sunset with her very own hero/husband on his Ultra Limited aka Harley.

100 Stars are not enough

Coming home again is a sign of failure for Rachel Darlington. She has lost her identity, her job, and her significant other when Her sister, Leah, reaches out to her for help. She needs to come home and take over Darlington Metals while Leah recuperates from an accident in Florida while she was visiting her parents. Rachel does not want the town to know that she has failed, but can she keep it a secret from the townsfolk and especially Vic Tramont, the man she rejected as not suitable for her executive lifestyle in the city?

Going home to an ordinary town would be hard but Rachel is going back to Magdalena, New York. Magdalena is a magical town where forgiveness, redemption, and second chances are the standard not the exception. And, Vic, handsome, kindhearted, charitable, universally loved, is waiting for her.

The Vow is the twenty-first book in the series Mary calls A Family Affair. Reading about the stories about Magdalena and her inhabitants is like curling up in a warm blanket on a cold winter’s day. The author always makes you feel accepted and loved by old friends like Pop Benito and Lily, Nate and Christine DeSantro, Ben Reed, and Cash Casheron. You feel yourself smiling and feeling content.

As Rae, as she is known in Magdalena, rediscovers her identity working at Darlington Metals alongside Vic, finds neighbors are really friends, coaches her nephew, Josh, into adulthood, and falls madly in love with Vic and Magdalena, she realizes her real purpose in life.

I am sure that you will enjoy this book as much as I did. I have been a major fan of Mary Campisi’s for years. She never disappoints. Never. I wholeheartedly endorse this book and encourage my fellow readers to read and enjoy all the books of A Family Affair. You will not regret it.

I love reading this Truth In Lies series. It just keeps getting better and better. I enjoy reading them and #21 was no exception. The town of Magdalena and it’s people believe in love, redemption and second chances no matter whether you’re a resident or just a visitor. Because you may just become a resident. This story was about Rae Darlington and Victor Tramont. It all started when Rae came home for her parent’s retirement party at Harry’s Folly. But the evening didn’t go very well. Rae left after hurting Vic. But now she’s back because her sister was hurt and needed someone to run the family business. Things seem to working out better this time with them, but then pride and a vengeful ex boyfriend mess it up. But the town has faith in love and them. I really enjoy immersing myself in this wonderful world. There are trials and tribulations for the people, but it gives you hope there really are second chances for love, forgiveness, friends and family. I couldn’t put it down and now that I’m done with the book, I’m already missing the town and all the people. Mary Campisi does a beautiful job of weaving everything together. I’m hoping you’ll read it and feel the same way about this wonderful town and it’s people. Looking forward to the next one.

A Family Affair: The Vow. In this installment of the continuing story of the town of Magdalena and its residents, some citizens have decided to play matchmaker for two residents. Vic first met Rae years ago when the then 16 year old backed into his truck. The second time they met was at her parents’ retirement party. The attraction was huge, but Rae had a job and goals elsewhere. Several years later a disillusioned, unemployed Rae is back in Magdalena, called home after her sister has an accident. Will a third meeting be their lucky charm? Rae has a lot to learn about herself, her family and the town she was so eager to leave behind. Readers of the romance genre know the path to a happy ending is filled with hurtles. The draw in Ms. Campisi’s writing is how her characters handle their trials with the help of old friends from previous stories. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book. Most highly recommend.

This is the story of two people, Vic and Rae who met three years earlier by a chance encounter when their vehicles collided. Destiny and choices led them to different places but now Rae is back in town and it looks like their paths are going to cross again. Two people who are like chalk and cheese. Where it leads is anyone’s guess but the whole town is conspiring, plotting and match making in what is an uphill struggle. Who said love was easy!?

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and all the old characters who are like family to me. I’ve been reading this Family Affair series for some years now and I feel I know each character in this small town, Magdalena really well. If only this was a real town and not an imaginary one. I would certainly pay a visit! And who knows move there.

These two really frustrated me. Their chemistry was obviously there but they kept rejecting each other and stop any relationship between them working out. Having returned from her city life Rachel reconnected with Vic as she tried to keep her family business going with his help. Having been hurt by her before Vic tried really hard to keep their interactions professional. But the wonderful people of Magdalena had other ideas. Another stunning addition to this series. Read an ARC for an honest review.

I normal read Mary Campisi books in 2 days at the most, this one took me longer BUT this has nothing to do with how well this book is written, more to do with life sometimes just gets in the way

Never Disappointed

This was Book 21 of this series, and I'm never disappointed! I'm a hopeless romantic, and the books bring it out of me. Please keep writing! I've also been sucked into the other series written by Mary.
