Leeanna Morgan is a USA Today bestselling author. She lives in New Zealand surrounded by green hills on one side and the ocean on the other. She enjoys going for long walks, especially if she can convince her husband and two children to go with her!
Leeanna writes contemporary romances set in Montana. Her books contain all of the things that are important to her; good friends, family, a strong sense of community, and a happy ending.
The Flower Cottage by Leanna Morgan is the first book I have read by this author, but it certainly won't be the last. I drove through Montana with some friends about 20 years ago, and Ms. Morgan makes me want to revisit the state.
The Flower Cottage is a romance where the romance is secondary to the characters discovering more about themselves and taking a chance on love and turning dreams into reality.
Paris has been living in this small town in Montana for about a year. Paris is the daughter of an alcoholic mother who is very negative and dismissive of her unless she needs something. She has moved to a wonderful community with a pastor who is awesome. She has a job with a florist creating masterpiece arrangements.
Paris has a dream of starting her own flower shop. She receives help in creating the various plans necessary to get a small business loan.
Richard is the man who is re-modeling the cottage. He keeps saying the wrong things at the wrong time in the wrong way. He is a widower with a young son. He is also a disabled veteran. Besides remodeling and construction of tiny homes, he makes furniture. He has really been hurt, but is ready to take a chance on a new relationship. He is a good father and friend.
I love the type of romance stories that are clean. I love the fact that the focus is on Paris reaching for her dream and achieving it. I loved the fact that she took a chance on love, on being vulnerable, on looking beyond the fact that Richard was saying stuff that at first seemed negative because he wanted to make sure she was being realistic about costs and risks when starting a new business.
I love that Richard finally gets his book, he and Jack have come so far since they arrived in Sapphire Bay. Jack is an awesome, bubbly and confident child and whilst Richard sometimes doubts himself and his parenting skills, he is a fantastic dad and Jack's happiness is a credit to him. Seeing him use his experiences in a positive way to help Paris is huge for both of them and is a pleasure to see. They may both be wary and only be taking baby steps in their relationship but it is still heartwarming and beautiful. This is a new spin off series but it is set in one of our favourite places to visit with the welcoming open arms of the Sapphire Bay locals we know and love which means it is like returning home.
I guess I'm in the minority with this book. I was very disappointed with the story's time period and location. This story takes place in a fictitious town on Flathead Lake, Montana. The first event is Valentine's Day which means it's February. I've never been to Montana in February, but I would think there's snow and cold temperatures. However, Paris tends to wear different cute/fancy "50's style" dresses with high heels - no mention of a coat/boots/cold weather/snow, etc. She easily walks about the small town in her heels with no issues. Then there's playing basketball outside at The Welcome Center, in shorts! Long walks around the lake with only a jacket on and picnics on blankets by the water - after a long motorcycle drive! And I can't forget the 'overgrown garden' or the daisies growing in the garden at Richard's new house...in March? Seriously?
The story itself was cute and probably a bit too perfect when it came to dealing with an amputee "reveal" or an alcoholic's "ah-ha" moment to start cleaning up her act. This should have been written for late spring - either May or June; I think I'm being too generous with 2 stars.

I truly enjoy this community of characters. They are everything you could wish for. Liked Shelley's answer to 'how do you know who is the right person for you'. Identify with Paris re mother's voice in her head. Really enjoyed Paris' quirky outfits. Jack was lovely. His relationship with his Dad was truly heart-warming. A great read. Wish had the funds to read every book in the series. A great afternoon's read. Leaves you feeling good.
This is the first book in this spin-off series in Sapphire Bay. For those that have read the other series you may be happy because there were many characters from previous books. Those who have not read them may be a little behind at times because they are a big part of this story. This was Richard and Paris’ book.
Richard is an ex-military, single father who moved to Sapphire Bay to start over. After losing a leg in service he had struggled with people seeing him for him and not his disability . He found a home here and a community of people who support and care about him. He leads a construction team who are rebuilding cottages and turning them in to a new place for small businesses. All is quiet in his world until he meets a sassy woman who he now can’t get out of his mind.
Paris moved to Sapphire Bay to start over also. Her friend Kylie had a job for her working in her flower shop so she jumped at the chance to leave her old life behind. Growing up without her father and having an alcoholic mother who made her feel nothing but bad about herself made this opportunity to begin again amazing. She has a tendency to not stick with things so anything commitment related is generally off the table for her. These refurbished cottages give her an idea that both excites and scares her. One discussion with the pessimistic construction foreman and she is ready to try and prove him wrong.
These two have a connection instantly, but it isn’t romantic at first. There is an attraction, but they start out as friends. They can’t fight the inevitable though and they work through their issues together. Richard’s son is cute and the secondary characters are good it just takes a bit to get to know who they are. This was a nice, sweet read with a happily ever after, even with the bumps. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
My first read by this author, the writing reminds me of Debbie Macomber. This is the beginning of a series. In this story Paris has moved to Sapphire Bay working in a flower-shop. She decides to open her own flower shop in Anchor Lane area where they are they are remodeling cottages. Richard and his son also has moved to Sapphire Bay. Richard a single dad who is recovering from being in the war in Afghanistan and being a single dad. When these two first meet they both felt the other irritated them until they come together as is the contractor overlooking the cottage home and she is about to be an owner of one that will become her shop. This romance is pure in a simplistic sweet way. For those who might love their romance without any smut will enjoy his one. This story focuses on family faith and unity.
This is a simple story but what I needed. I've been stuck in historical romances lately and needed a change and this was it!
Very little drama, just a sweet story with two people who in the beginning rubbed each other the wrong way. As they spent more time with each other, they see a different person than they originally thought.
The H has an 8-year-old son, Jack who adds a sweetness to the story. The relationship between father and son will melt your heart. The h has had a rough life growing up with an alcoholic mother. She escapes her mother to start a new life. The only drama was when the mother came to visit.
This is a clean story with a couple kisses. Interesting main and secondary characters that I fell in love with. No cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA, romance builds slowly and clean. (ljb)
This is a very sweet and clean romance set in a small Montana town near flathead lake. She moved there awhile ago and has been working in the florist shop which is getting more business than the owner can handle. He has moved there post war injury, with his son, and is renoing small houses. They each have their own issues which make them prickly about romance. She needs his help with finishing the house she will call The Flower Cottage. This increases their times together and their deeper issues are revealed as they fall in love with the help and support of their friends. It does have a lot of detail that makes it a slowly developing story. But, I really liked the people and the story. It’s sweet.
I really enjoyed reading this book - a single veteran dad and a flower shop owner. I don't know why it took so long to read it, being it has been sitting in my library as of June 2023 and Leeanna Morgan is one of my favorite authors.
I feel for the characters in this story where there is a co-habitant parent who can't stand on their own two feet. I was hoping their would have been more of Paris' mother in the end and how she fared getting herself cleaned up.
I look forward to the next book: The Starlight Cafe: A Sweet Small Town Romance (The Cottages on Anchor Lane Book 2) Kindle Edition
**Review for *The Flower Cottage* by Leanne Morgan** *The Flower Cottage* was such a cute and heartwarming story. I really connected with the main character and the emotional struggles she went through—especially her complicated relationship with her mother, who had that presence that just makes your stomach drop the second she enters the room. It was written in such a relatable way that I found myself rooting for her from the start. Watching her grow and overcome those deep-rooted issues was inspiring, and it made her journey toward finding true love all the more satisfying. A lovely, feel-good read that still hits some real emotional notes.
I always love to read books by Leeanna as you can see and hear her character’s! Paris escaped to a small town in Montana! Richard had wound up there as a contractor and the small town pulls them in! He’s a single father of a small boy and she is someone who thinks she’s never going to find anyone! You get to know a lot of people in the town and find that the town welcomes them in even if they are not from there! Definitely worth reading! I received this book as an ARC but, it hasn’t influenced my review!
This book makes you feel happy as you delve into the story. As it begins you wonder if it is a sweet romance but as you continue you realize that it is as if it is a movie you are watching. You cry but smile, you laugh any smile, you get angry but forgive and you realize it is because it is just like an every day part of life. Bad things happen to people, and most don't deserve it but they overcome and become better and hopefully will have the life they deserve!
Paris and Richard are very different. he has been through a lot and her optimistic outgoing nature gets on his nerves. He makes Paris nervous because of this, but she strikes up a friendship with his young son. He has taken on the job of rehabbing a row of old cottages to be used for small businesses. When she leases the first one to open a flower shop they are forced to work closely together and find out they aren't so different after all.
Aww, such a sweet story. I loved how Paris was so loving to Richard when he thought she would balk. Richard, Jack, and Paris were meant to be a family. They heal each other without realizing it. I love how descriptive Paris's outfits were. They make me want to buy one of her dresses. Toto and Louie were also a great addition to the story, and mentioning the animal shelter was truly touching.
I liked the story. Although I've never dealt with an alcoholic parent or a wounded warrior, I liked how the author portrayed Paris & Richard. Neither issue was dwelt on to the point of total hopelessness before things changed. The story had just enough fear and cheer to balance each other. I absolutely loved the scene where Jack & Richard choose their pet. Looking forward to more stories about the people who have cottages on Anchor Lane.
Ms. Morgan has penned another series set in Sapphire Bay which seems to be a wonderful small community. Paris and Richard are two people who have overcome adversity and are still determined to move forward toward their dreams. Richard's son, Jack, steals the scenes when he appears because of his curiosity and the honesty of a child who has lived with instability for a few years. A good beginning for this short series.
I enjoyed this easy to read story with its happy ending. So much so I've just bought the next in the series. Leanna writes lovely clean stories with happy endings which is what I want to read. I look for writers that will happily entertain and transport me into another part of the world and when I find one I'll follow the series and end up happy and relaxed. Leanna does this to me.
I loved reading this book, it has so much love in it, and one can’t help to feel with all the people involve, it made me smile, and Jack is such a sweet boy and typical of today’s children, they seem to have a great way of seen things. Thank you for the hours I spend reading your lovely story.
That is exactly what this story was about. The Flower Cottage was a great story of love, overcoming fears, and a happy ending. Paris overcame her fear issues as well as Richard’s. Jack was an added bonus in the story and love was the happy ending. I loved it.
This was a great story that brought two people together through a construction job working on a cottage for Paige flower shop. It was about trusting each other and finding true and loving happiness. A great story to read and hard to put dow.
Positive and uplifting story about Paris fulfilling her dream of having her own successful flower shop. All the characters of the small town of Sapphire Bay support each other & have come from hard times in their lives. Happiness and determination help them overcome past lives of sorrow and hardship.
The Flower Cottage was a very sweet story with the classic enemies to lovers trope. I really enjoyed the differing personalities and backstories of the characters, however, I feel like the end was wrapped up too quickly. I feel like there was very little character development in their relationship before reaching the conclusion.
A very sweet romance which leaves you with a heart full of emotion and warmth. Paris and Richard are perfect for each other even at the first stages of the novel, where they can't see it for themselves. Supporting characters, aka best friends, are also very well developed and we can see litle sparks that will leaad us to the following books in the series.
“The Flower Cottage”, is a wonderful and heartfelt story. One of sacrifice, of emotional and physical challenges, of heartache and discovering what matters most. Great book!
Author, Leeanna Morgan has once again brought magic to her readers. It’s always a wonderful feeling to lose oneself in the pages of such an amazing author!
