Relentless Hunter

Rate this book
One moment in time changed the course of our lives....

For more than two decades, I vow to find her.

I'm locked up. Full of rage. Obsessed with remembering every detail about her.

When I get out, I scour the Earth. Relentlessly. Mercilessly.

I know she's out there. I can still feel her, my firefly glowing in the dark.

I'll never stop until she's back in my arms.

Relentless Hunter is the 10th and final jaw-dropping installment of the Mafia Wars series and part of the O’Malley saga. It's a second chance dark mafia romance, interconnecting stand-alone, and guaranteed to have an HEA.

*Thank you to the author for an ARC of this title.*

The Mafia Wars series has been one of my favorite series to dive into this year. The world the author build has kept me captivated and pulled into each entry with a voracious need to see what happens next. Her characters have been fresh and new and their hurts and wants have scalded my heart for months now.

When it came time for Finn and Brenna's book, I was very excited but also terrified. I had heard what the tropes for this book were and I was scared. I knew there was going to be pain and heartbreak. But I trusted the story the author had laid out and I was ready to watch the dominos fall.

I can't really tell you anything in this review that won't spoil anything, but if you have read this far into the series... I promise that this finale will not let you down. It was gut-wrenching, powerful, and heartbreakingly beautiful.

The HEA for Finn and Brenna is well earned. Their trauma makes it feel so deserving and needed. Prison, captivity, and abuse will not keep them from a beautiful future together.

Buckle up, grab your tissues, and get ready for the ride of your life.

6/5 Stars

Maggie Cole Mafia Wars Bk 10 Happy New Year

Fight Firefly

Entirely too many emotions are stirred up throughout this book. Many good, some bad, and plenty ugly. Rage, heartache, warmth and love, excitement, and pride are a handful of the emotions that I felt.

The first third is full of passion, hope, dreams, and love as we take a trip back in time to see how Finn and Brenna met and fell head over heels for each other. The second third, I'm not gonna lie, is hard and contains all kinds of triggers. But that last third.... That last third tells the real story about the power of love. I'm not talking about the 80's ballad. Relentless Hunter is the most evocative love story from Maggie Cole that I've read.

I'd stare at her photo, which is now worn and faded from my fingerprints, and hear her say, I chose you, Finn. You. No one else but you. -- Finn O'Malley

The epilogue is perfect! I love the updates on where things landed and expanded for all of the women and more.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Trope: second chance romance
Angst: 😱😱😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Triggers: assault, sexual assault, slavery

What a freaking fantastic ending to the series! Relentless Hunter is book 10 in the Mafia Wars series by Maggie Cole and while they could *possibly* be read as standalones, I think this book in particular should be read after completely the rest of the series - or at least the Irish mafia portion of it. If you haven't read any of the books, it would sincerely be worth it to start with book one - all these books are fantastic - well written, great storylines, and super smexy!

Relentless Hunter focuses on the story of Finn and Brenna, half of the story takes place 20 years ago before Finn was sent to prison. I don't want to ruin the story by giving away too much, but this was definitely a heart wrenching journey - both together and apart - of two people that belong together. While well written and super smexy as always, this book definitely deals with some triggering events and the trigger warnings should be heeded. I'm super sad this series is at an end, but excited to jump into Maggie's next series!

This review may contain spoilers, so fair warning, upon reading the review.

“Firefly?” “Yeah. When I was a kid, I was obsessed with fireflies. I would catch them in jars and watch them glow all night. You remind me of them. You light up the room. So, I could sit and be happy watching you glow all night,” I confess.

First Impressions
Relentless Hunter is the last book in the Mafia Wars series and this is one of my most anticipated reads of the series, as I have heard the best things about this book but I knew that it would be a rough read, and yeah it’s not the easiest of these books to read, but it is one of the most satisfying of the series. I was really drawn into the book because this is Finn’s book and I knew his story would be so badass and it definitely was. But I would say pay attention to the triggers in this one because it does contain some difficult content that some will struggle with. I was impressed with how Maggie Cole handled this book and there was such an intensity to this book that really worked out so well for me. From the first page, you know that the author is going to put you through the emotional ringer and she definitely does in this one, but it’s a story that I feel must be told and it had me all in my feels and is definitely worth the journey,

But that’s the thing about love. You find it in your heart to overlook the things that aren’t perfect because no one is. Everyone has their demons, so you accept them and love them for who they

Summary
From the moment that Finn and Brenna, knew that there was something deep and special for them. Brenna and Finn embrace instantly the connection that they have together, and even though Brenna knows that Finn is part of a dangerous family, she always has complete faith in him. She knows he will always protect her no matter the cost. But when Brenna ends in a situation, Finn steps in and is the one caught red-handed and he ends up in prison for 21 years for it. But what hurts him the most, is knowing that Brenna has disappeared and no one can find her and he is stuck in Prison unable to search for her and protect her, he has no idea if she is alive or dead but he is determined to be the King and hone his skills so that when he is free, he can do whatever it takes to find his Firefly, Brenna on her side, was kidnapped and sold as a slave, but when she escaped, she thought she would find a way but now believes that Finn is dead, and then gets recaptured and is stuck in her own prison, not knowing if she will ever have a taste of freedom again. When Finn finds out that Brenna is very much alive, he will do whatever it takes to free her no matter the war that will have to happen.

She loves me. Every day she shows me. And she looks past all the bullshit of what my family and I bring to the table and still accepts me. She knows all my faults, yet she unconditionally loves me.

What I Loved
This book tore my heart in shreds and I am not saying that lightly, my heart just broke for Finn and Brenna and what they both suffer. We get to see them falling in love and how beautiful their connection is, I really loved how Brenna accepts Finn for who he is, and is so understanding of where he is in life and his status with his family. Then we have Finn, who is so protective over Brenna and makes his share of mistakes, but I loved his fierce determination to protect her. We see how their connection doesn’t waver despite their 21-year separation and that they are so together no matter the evils that try to keep them apart, and then we have that beautiful moment when they find each other again, and it was worth all the pain and struggle that they have to face to be together again,. This is definitely one of my top favorite books of the series, there is something so deep and profound about this book that resonates so well with this reader. Maggie Cole definitely shows her true talents in this one here. I wanted so much to have these two together and to find their much-deserved HEA. On the side, we also get to see the truth behind Bridget and seeing what happened to her to cause her to distance herself and the truth of what happened the night Sean was killed. I have a feeling that her story is not even close to being over and very curious to see about the connecting series that Maggie Cole is currently working on.

So I make a decision. No matter what, I won’t waver again. I’ll lead her through the maze until we get to the end, and anytime she doubts her worth or my love for her, I’ll show her.

What I Struggled With
This book is perfection!!!! I wouldn’t change a thing.

Overall View
Relentless Hunter is an intense filled romance that will capture your heart and will have you fighting for this pair as they work their way towards their much-deserved HEA. Its a story of struggle, determination, and conquering evil to embrace the one you love the most!!

“Whatever happens, I’m walking out that door with you. Always. Forever.”

I’m trying to find the right words as I right this last review about Mafia Wars. Right now I cannot see through my tears to be able to type. Tears because of the book and the story and tears because this series is over. The strength of these 2 characters is just amazing! Easily one of the best books I have read. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would.

Finn and Brenna’s story was the most perfect ending to Mafia Wars. I don’t think anyone else’s story would have been the most perfect ending to this series! When you read it I hope that you feel the exact same way I do.

When I started Mafia Wars back with Ruthless Stranger I knew that book was the most perfect start to a series. Then when the Ivanovs story ended I knew Savage Tracker was the best end to their families story. Liam in Unchosen Ruler was the perfect start to the O’Malleys and Finn in Relentless Hunter was the best ending! Overall the way Maggie Cole put this series together is above and beyond. The whole series she gives the reader so many exciting things. You get heartbreak, yearning, hope, love, romance, fiercely loyal friends you call family and family that will do just about anything to protect those around them!

There were so many questions leading up to this book about Finn and Brenna’s story. Going in you really did not know how it was going to go. And you really didn’t know much about Brenna at all which I am glad that the author did it this way. It added some mystery to it all. You also probably questioned Finn some and wondered if he was always such an angry guy as you see him in most of the O’Malley books. Just know this, your questions will be answered and you will be eternally grateful you stuck with this series until the end because the payoff is better than you could have ever imagined!

Wow I have tears cascading down my cheeks, Im feeling so many emotions. Maggie once again transports readers into this decadent, tantazling, compelling mafia world. Relentless Hunter was soul-stirring and electrifying.

Finn and Breanna story was so intoxicating there connection was combustible, the prose was pulse pounding pure-perfection. I couldn’t get enough of these two there journey was so intriguing and beautiful.

This story consumed me I was obsessed it will seduce your sense wrapping you in a web of suspenseful twist and turns. Maggie delivers her words with Paralyzing intensity and emotions what a compelling highly-addictive page-turner.

The words flowed off the pages like lyrics to a song, this book was visceral and addicting I can’t believe this is the ending this series was a fine piece of beautiful art it’s just so hard to say good bye..Maggie has made a fan for life and I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.

🎧📚 Connor Crais & Stephanie Nemeth Parker brought Finn & Breanna to life. Connor you can feel his frustration on finding his girl and try to learn what Jack did to her. Finn is a warrior and part of the clan and what he said at the end was emotional and just shows that Finn is truely inlove with his firefly. Stephanie broke my heart because Breanna goes through a gruesome story that just shows she is a survivor & she protects the one she loves. I see why Maggie left these two last because their love is so strong not even time could keep them apart ♥️🍀

Get ready for the last O'Malley story...

Fin & Breanna love story is a second chance romance. There is time jumps and they made me tearful a bit we see Sean & Nana. Sean is the brother I wish we could meet because he is a hero to these men. His son Sean Jr is a double of is father and I hope one day he gets a story. Nana it was just nice to see her again (Boris & Nora's l9ve story Broken Fighter)

Breanna I wish she didn't have to go through all that darkness for 16 years...no spoilers one line & voice kept he going "Keep going Firefly"

Finn survived prison, helped Liam as the new Clan Leader and his cousins with their women. Now it's his turn but his love story was put on hold for awhile...he saved his girl before BUT he needs to save her again. And prove to her that no one can take him away from her again...no spoilers

I see why Finn was last and another tense back story that will break you. We have suspense & a undying love that we heal that broken heart I promise...

I was honestly so sad that this was the final book in Mafia Wars but as always Maggie Cole came through and did not disappoint. She managed to answer all the questions I had about Finn and Brenna, as well as paint a vivid picture of how everything worked out in the end. I’m sad to say goodbye to all these characters and to me that’s the sign of an amazing author. She made us fall in love with everyone and care about them so much. Absolutely amazing series and somehow she managed to save the best for last.

Throughout this series we always had snippets of Brenna....I was like who is this and what is her story. Finally we get Finn's and her story! Be ready to be emotionally wrecked!

Finn found his zing with Brenna and oh boy, you will love them! These two meet and Finn will do anything to keep her safe when her ex-boyfriend starts stalking her.

For twenty years these two have been apart and Finn will move heaven and hell to get her back. The feelings you will have are so profound I am still thinking about them after I got done reading this book 5 days ago.

This is a must read series, if you have not read Mafia Wars yet, what are you waiting for, go start with Ruthless Strange.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/6.
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️.5.

I liked this a lot. There was a lot to be told on this book, how Finn and Brenna began and what happened to them so for once I appreciated the time jumps. It was the right way to go.

I loved Finn and his unwavering love for Brenna. He never gave up and I LOVE when a man never gives up on what he wants.
I hoped Brenna would somehow be more of a badass after everything she went through but I understand why she wasn’t written that way and I’m okay with it.

We finally know what went down with Sean’s wife and with him years ago. Still don’t know how to feel about the whole thing but I get it.

All in all I had a great time with this series and I’m glad I read it.

“𝗙𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁, 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗹𝘆. 𝗙𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽.”

I can’t believe this is the last book of the series! I have been wanting Finns story for so long and it did not disappoint!

This is a second chance love story which is one of my favourite tropes🥺I loved the chapters in the past as well as the present ones! It was so good revisiting some of my favourite characters when they were young!

We also get to read about Sean O’Malley! If you’ve read the series you know from the start Sean was murdered, every story mentions him one way or another so it was amazing to be able to read about his character!

This book is by far the darkest book in the series! I loved it though, Brenna is such a strong character I got so emotional when her an Finn reunite, as always with the books in this series it was super steamy🔥

I loved how alpha Finn was but was also vulnerable and self conscious at times, they are both broken characters that finally deserve their happy ending and Maggie delivered it soo good🤍

I cannot wait for mafia wars New York this book and the last 2 have been setting up the new series and I know it will be as amazing as this one!

This is the last book in the Mafia Wars Series and I had been longing to read it but am so sad it's over! As expected this book was another brilliant story from Maggie and Finn is another of the book boyfriends on my list. This is a perfect ending to a series featuring two Mafia families the Ivanov's and then the O'Malley's. Both families stories were full of angst and sexy scenes with Maggie's infamous alphalicious book boyfriends and their feisty female counterparts and each one pulled at the heart strings but I think Maggie surpassed herself with this final instalment. This always and forever love is what we all strive for and most never ever find! It's a roller coaster ride of emotions ranging from exciting to soul destroying and back again before finally reaching elation when they eventually get reunited. I loved every minute of it and as sad as I am to have these stories come to an end, they will forever be on my repeat reading list! Once again thank you Maggie Cole for your amazing talent and stories that will live forever in my heart!

Every time you think that Maggie Cole can not break your heart more, she publishes another book. Finn and Brenna were one of the most honest couples of the saga. Their story was the most heart-wrenching of the Mafia War saga. For all that they went through to find their way back to each other, you are cheering them on every step. Relentless Hunter ties up all the stray ends for the whole series and puts everything in perspective so you have a complete picture of what went on. And Brenna has to be the strongest of the female characters to have survived all that she did to get back to Finn. Finn is the most mature of the heroes and the way he never gives up is incredible. I loved every book in this series and this was an incredible ending.

The culmination of 10 books, Mafia wars started with the Ivanovs and intertwined with the O'Malley's, ending with this story. Each book brought us deeper into this world Maggie created. This was an epic ending. Questions that were left unanswered were finally addressed.

Finn and Brenna, were probably the most heartbreaking couple for me. 21 years lost for both, for different reasons, neither forgot and in the the previous books we saw glimpses of how hard Finn was searching. His anger was understandable and I wanted nothing but his happiness as his character grew and developed.

Maggie outside herself with the series, the characters intertwine with each book and I recommend starting at the beginning but definitely recommend this series.

One moment in time changed the course of our lives... For over two decades, I vow to find her. The story line of these books in this series were all the same, from how they had their own unique smell and pet name but this one for me had to be the best one of all of them, apart from the insta love and obsessiveness. This is a young love that is torn apart by circumstances and yet survives 20 years until these two find each other again. The chemistry between the characters is lovely, the sex is hot and I loved how each family came together in the end with all the stories linking together. Hats off to this author who managed to carry this linked story line over so many books. Although some of the books were not to my taste the series overall was very addictive and interesting and I am glad I read the whole series.

Last in the series, they are all stand alone but are best read in order so you can follow the whole story from start to finish.
What a final it was omg I was on tender hooks all the way through.
This is Finn and Brenna,s story both separated for 20 years due to Finn being in prison for a crime he didn't commit but served the time to protect the one he loves. Brenna mean while in that 20 years has not had an easy life running scared for many years, held captive when she was eventually caught. Follow how Finn finally finds her after he comes out, and the true story of why his brothers widow took her children back home and changed their last name. A truly amazing piece of writing full of angst, twists and turns.

I don't think there are adequate words right now to describe how I feel knowing this is the end of the Mafia Wars. But what a way to end it. This whole series has been leading up to this it feels like and this wrapped up exactly the way it had to. There's a whole lot of emotions in me right now, but the way this beautifully wrapped up and seeing Finn and Brenna relearn each other after so much time apart and baggage. It's a thing of beauty and I cannot wait to see what's next! I volunteered to read and review an early copy of this. All opinions are my own.

Some parts are really good, some parts are just insane!!!

I don’t even know where to start with this one! Parts of the book are really good, parts are insane! That would never ever happen!

At the beginning of the book, Finn is just being released from prison. After serving 20 years for murder. It gets really confusing on who has been murdered, and who he is murdering now. Then it goes back to the beginning. Confused, you will be!

Brenna is a trainee nurse, who is dating a rich, arrogant, domineering man who her mother loves. When he proposes to her in the restaurant with their parents there. (?) She turns him down and he’s infuriated.

The next night she goes out with her room mate and meets Finn. Finn O Malley is part of the Irish family, that controls Chicago. His job is to hunt people down and kill them. Finn knows straight away that Brenna is it for him. But he’s so angry all the time. And he’s insecure about her wanting someone who is rich, that they argue a lot. Brenna at times is almost begging him to not finish with her, as he feels he’s not good enough?? So without spoiling it. Something bad happens to Brenna and Finn goes to prison for twenty years. This is where it lost me. Too many inaccuracies. She was there at the murder scene. Why was her fingerprints not brought up. Why was she not wanted for questioning about it?

The next part of the book is crazy! Without spoiling it, I was really annoyed! Skipping ahead, Brenna is on the run after she did something bad. While on the run she is bought by an Italian mobster and becomes his daughters nanny and his mistress for over ten years. Finn comes out of prison and goes on the hunt to find her.

Too many inaccuracies, too many sentences that don’t make sense, too many questions about what happened. Parts of the plot are never explained. As I suspect the author herself got carried away, with too many characters and we never know who they all are. Brenna after being held captive for over ten years, would need serious counselling and wouldn’t just jump into bed with Finn straight away! No way!!! And don’t get me started on how Finn is now really really rich. 😂 As that part didn’t make sense either!!

Did I enjoy it? Parts of it, yes. Wish I hadn’t read it though. As it’s so dark and depressing that I felt glad when it was finished. Almost wish I could erase it from my mind.

Maggie Cole has given me my favorite series of the year with her Mafia Wars. From Book One of this series I have been emotionally invested in the lives of these characters. This last installment, the story of Finn and Brenna, did not disappoint. Their love story was heartbreaking, emotional, and full of the level of devotion we have come to expect from this author.

Utter perfection. This was not only the perfect story between Brenna and Finn, but the perfect ending to the Mafia Wars Story. As with most of her books Maggie pulled out all of the emotions. She crushes your heart into a million pieces, to put it back together, only to do it all over again. This final book brought out more tears than any of the other books. Sad tears when I felt what Brenna and Bridget were going through. And, of course, happy tears. Two lives torn apart with few signs of ever finding each other again until a second accidental encounter. The steam between Brenna and Finn burns through all the pages. I absolutely loved this series! I cannot wait to see what Maggie has for us next!

Relentless Hunter
The O'Malley Family (Mafia Wars, Book 10)
By: Maggie Cole
Narrated by: Stephanie Nemeth-Parker, Connor Crais

Wow, just wow, Maggie Cole absolutely blew me away with this amazing second chance, dark and twisted mafia romance. The story drew me right in, grabbing my attention immediately and captivating it the entire book.I have loved every book of this series, each one becoming my new favorite, so this is my latest favorite of the series. I went in with a bittersweet feeling, knowing it is the last book of the series and thinking it would be the last of hearing from these characters, but something tells me that may not be the case, at least not entirely because Ms. Cole may not be finished with all these characters yet, at least I hope not. Her world building and character development is phenomenal and complex in this series and I would love to see more of it. “Relentless Hunter” is Finn and Brenna’s story, it is written to stand on its own but I highly recommend enjoying the series in its entirety and in order, knowing the back stories of the characters and the family dynamics is beneficial plus you could never get enough of these characters and it is always great to see them again as they appear as secondary characters in each other’s books. The start of the book takes us back in time, the O’Malley’s are running the underworld but are not well off financially yet. Finn is the hunter for the family, he is tight with his cousin Sean and it is great to get a glimpse of Sean and Bridget’s relationship. Brenna Doyle broke it off with her boyfriend who just proposed, her mother is pushing for the relationship because she liked Brad’s social status and wealth, something Brenna was not interested in. Actually, she has a bad feeling about him and wanted nothing to do with him or for any man. But then she meets Finn, who sweeps her off of her feet, and as bad as a man Finn is, she always felt safe with him. The chemistry between Brenna and Finn was electric, and they quickly fall in love, once an O’Malley finds his woman he knows she is the one. But then one incident changes both their lives for ever more, without getting into details the two are separated and Finn never gave up on her love or finding her again. OMG, what those two went thru and had to endure, it was absolutely heart breaking to watch, gut wrenching, but the two preserved even when hope was almost gone and then Finn catches a break to track her down. There is never a dull moment in this book, the story is brilliantly plotted with plenty of drama, angst, twists and turns, thrilling and suspenseful, nail biting, take me to the edge of my seat moments, heartfelt moments and an ever lasting romance no matter what. Maggie Cole, thank you for this amazing story and series, as well as the wild and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧 📚🎧 And for the amazing narration, Connor Crais and Stephanie Nemeth-Parker are the perfect cast to bring these characters and their story to life. They had a complete understanding of the characters they portrayed, gave each a voice that fit that character’s persona to a tee, were believable in every role they played and sounded just as I pictured the characters to sound. S. Nemeth-Parker nailed it as Brenna grasped her every emotion and had you feeling them, Connor Crais did the same for Finn. Both were fabulous at covering the roles of the secondary characters, too. These two wonderfully talented narrators are versatile voice artists and entertaining storytellers, their exceptional performance enhances this already brilliant story to another level. Thank you for another outstanding listen.

A Sensational story of love spanning decades and yet conquering all evils 🌹

Oh my.. Wow... I just am oh so speechless after reading this epic read non-stop. All the feelings and emotions this one made me feel, took me on a journey that I felt I was living the experiences right beside these characters and feeling everything that they were.

Finn and Brenna. Oh my.. Ms. Cole certainly saved the best for the series finale. I was so excited for Finn's book as I had seen him in the previous one. The O'Malley's one of the strongest man, just released from prison after 20 years and just one thing matters to him. Finding his Brenna and nothing else.

This one actually takes you a journey right from when Finn and Brenna are in their twenties and how Finn is smitten when he sees Brenna and how Brenna after being done with her ex, goes to a pub with her friend and has no intention of being with anyone but sees this intense looking man with the smirk and can't look anywhere else.

When they start seeing each other, Finn's family welcomes Brenna with open arms but Brenna's mom wants her to be with a rich man meaning her ex and her father even though is a good man, doesn't want the kind of life it would be with Finn as he belongs to O'Malley crime family of Chicago.

Differences occur but Finn and Brenna always find their way back to each other. But when Brenna is kidnapped and trying to escape commits a crime and Finn not only saves her but gets arrested and sentenced for it. Yet he's OK to spend the next 20 years in jail as long as his Firefly will have a good life.

But soon his only purpose in life, his firefly is nowhere to be found. No body knows where Brenna is or what happened to her.

AHH.. My heart... I was feeling so much hurt for Finn. The man gives up his freedom for his lass and now there's no clue where she is. Then there's Brenna. When we get to see her side of life and what happens to her. It was so hurting to see all that she has to go through. And I was happy when she does escape without any actual harm from where she is. Yet I felt shattered when she just ends up in another prison and can't do anything about it.

We get to live and feel Finn and Brenna's life going through, trying their best to live. One in literal prison, where Finn is and another in just as equally bad prison where Brenna has to bear everything and can't even escape.

My heart screamed with joy and I was beyond ecstatic when these two finally meet and lay eyes on each other after 20 unforgiving years. It was not easy as Finn finds dead-ends everywhere but they finally find each other.

Also, it was bittersweet seeing events where Sean and Bridget are together and how Sean is smitten with her. As we have been seeing what happened for the war being there because of Sean and I loved seeing how the man loved briget when now only his memories are. I really hope briget gets her happiness once again.

Also, it was amazing seeing all the gang together. I have had a blast reading this series. Starting with Maksim and aspen and now knowing both the Ivanov and O'Malley clans has been such a full of feelings and action filled ride. I loved every minute.

What a freaking Smashing, Sensational, edge of your seat suspense and action filled thrilling, swoony and naughty ride this series has been. ABSO-FREAKING-LUTELY loved loved this series. But Finn and Brenna sure made me cry and laugh and feel oh so much with them. Loved taking this beautiful story of love triumphs all and hope and faith coming to fruition for them and giving them their happiness finally. Definitely a must read. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Wowzers, this whole series has been an amazing ride! First of all, I know that they all say they are standalone, but to be honest to get the most enjoyment out of this book, you should definitely read at least the O'Malley books all in order. Ideally, you should start right back at Ruthless Stranger, not only is it an amazing book, but we get to meet most of the characters we'll see throughout the series. I just love a series like this, where we get to know the characters and see them grow and get updates on how they are doing.

This book, number 10 is all about Finn and Brenna. We've already met him in previous books, and know that his girlfriend before he went to prison went missing, but it's all a mystery as to where she went and how it all went down. Their story begins back 20 years ago, and we follow their beautiful love blossoming. It gets pretty steamy, let me tell you! But we all know from the previous books, that something bad is coming, and it will keep you on the edge of your seat when it all starts to unfold.

As usual in these books, we have great action, surprises, things not being what they seem and it is truly heartbreaking in some chapters. Maggie did a great job of really pulling you in to the story and I warn you to stock up on tissues and your favourite drink, as there will be laughter, allot of tears, swooning whilst wanting to turn the page or listen intently on Audible. Their love spanned decades, and they both held each other in their hearts while they were apart, no matter the situations they both found themselves in.

I don't want to ruin the mysteries in their story, but I can tell you this is a great ending to this 10 month journey we've been on with these families. We also got to see the New York Italian Mafia too, which we'll be seeing in the next series, and I can't wait to read it! I loved each of these couples, and I don't think I can pick just one favourite out of them. I totally recommend both this book, and the rest of the series I guarantee you will have a great time.

✨And, here i’m with the 10th and final book of this series. Finally,I have completed this series.Hooray.But truly,I still remember when I started reading the first book from this I cried like times and in between when I was reading the books from this series. But this one right here, I ugly cried for like one whole day.I’m not even kidding you guys. This whole book got me cried. God what I can say. This is just the epic finale from this series✨This book is all about Finn O’Malley and Brenna. They started their journey as young love birds. When Brenna decided to dump her rich boyfriend who always talks about his assets and money, she didn't like him. After breaking up ,She decided to party up and that's where Brenna meets Finn. First she doesn’t know what and who Finn O'Malley,as they started meeting and getting to know each other. She came to know about Finn and His family business and all. After their love goes on smoothly,an unknown attack will happen, but in that Brenna kills a person, but she didn’t go to jail for her.Finn decided to take responsibility for her,he decided to spend 20years in jail,so his Brenna will be happy outside of the jail. But, he doesn't know what will happen✨Brenna is such a brave woman in this book,my heart really goes for her.She really went through so much in these 20years,As a girl, god, I couldn’t even think about it also. She has been torched and sold to Italian mafia people. She couldn’t go back to O’malley family because she is threatened by their enemies. She wants Finn and his family to be safe and happy. After 20years,they had a love for each other. She always loved him only.Same goes with Finn, he just thinks about her when he was in jail only her passing days by her thought.I don’t know if people have love like these✨After years of waiting, Finn is out of jail, he starts looking for her, the climax when he finally found her, he has been waiting so long to reconnect with her the same goes with Brenna. Their love is just pure as innocent and young love. I always love to read the second chance trope. In this I got too emotional

He's waited 20 years to hold her again and he won't let anything, or anyone get in his way. He's a hunter by nature and after they are separated due to circumstances beyond their control, he won't rest until he finds her again and keeps her safe.

Finn O'Malley was a man that worked in the family business doing as he was told and trained to do. He had girlfriends, but nothing very serious. While he's out one night with his best friend Maxim Ivanov, he sees a beautiful girl that he can't seem to ignore. He knows she's too good for him, but the attraction and pull are too strong to ignore. When tragedy strikes for these two they will be separated for 20 years both not knowing what happened to the other, but that doesn't mean that their love has died. It seems to remain as strong as ever even after all that they've been through.

Brenna Doyle has just said no to the proposal from a man she's dated for 6 months. She knew that it was not working out, but for some reason he didn't see it or acknowledge that their relationship was one sided. To celebrate being single again, Brenna and her roommate go out to a fairly new club in town. However, Brenna is not ready for the man that comes over to introduce himself. When she finds out who he is she takes a step back but the pull to him is too strong and their life becomes complete when she finally gives in and seeks him out.

I loved this conclusion to The O'Malley Family (Mafia Wars series). Brenna and Finn had to go through so much to finally get their HEA, but their love never wavered. They had a strong connection and no matter what got in their way their love persevered. Tragedy, betrayal, and danger lurked everywhere for these two, but they finally got their HEA. I loved the entire series, and Finn and Brenna's story was a great anticipated read and a great way to end the Chicago Mafia Wars series. I can't wait for the New York Mafia books to come out. Toxic looks to be a great read as well.

I knew going into this series that each character that was mentioned would eventually get their own story. Every book had that ending that just sucked you in making you want to know what was going to happen next. This is Finn O’Malley’s and Brenna Doyle’s story. How they met in their twenties and the events that separate them for over 20 years. Brenna had a prior relationship that she wanted out of but mother wanted her to stay in since he was from a rich and powerful family. Once Brenna meets Finn she knows he’s the one for her. She is also Finn’s light, hence he calls her his Firefly. Her ex stalks her with her mother’s help and causes the end to her relationship with her parents. Things snowball for both of them and Finn ends up in prison for twenty years and Brenna disappears. Neither knowing about the other’s life struggles or if they even are alive. The things they suffer through is gut-wrenching. No spoilers here. You have to read all the books in order to get to this point. This book answers all the questions from this series but builds new characters that will be fleshed out in a future series. Good thing this is winter and most of us will be in closer. If you have not read this series now is time for you to curl up with them on a winter’s night. Maggie Cole has the writing expertise to bring to life every character in this series. I cannot wait for the New York Mafia books series. I hope I will be in the ARC pool for them. I have truly enjoyed these 10 intertwined stories. So get them all now and then by ready for the next installment of Mafia Wars New York.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

"Perfection, firefly. Pure, sweet, carnal perfection."

Wow, Maggie definitely saved the best for last! I have been anticipating this story the most because since the beginning we knew Finn was in jail for 20 years and searching for Brenna but that’s all we really knew and now getting their story, it’s everything! The journey to their HEA is hot, romantic, suspenseful, heartbreaking and will make you cry and keep you on the edge of your seat the whole time.

I instantly felt their connection and was dreading their time apart because I loved them together and the future they were planning.

I'm a selfish bastard for not letting her go, but she's like smoke that penetrates fabric, lingering in my thoughts all day whether she's with me or not. I'm stained by her—all the goodness, beauty, and love of hers I won't ever be able to get enough of. She's in my system, and there's no escaping her. So the self-serving person I am takes all of her and isn't giving her back.

Their time apart is hard and completely heartbreaking. My heart was racing and had no idea where the story was gonna go. All I have to say is when she finally escaped, my heart was racing and when Eminem came on I definitely cried 😭.

Okay a few of my favorite things…
•I love his nickname for her, Firefly, and when he saw one in prison 😭
•Her hearing his voice to telling her to fight 💔
•His tattoo 😭🥰
•The tape and when they FINALLY got to watch it 🔥🥵
•His letter at the end 🥰❤️
•And that epilogue was perfect!

I highly recommend starting from the beginning because all 10 books are all told over the same 20+ years. It’s really the best way to enjoy and really appreciate Finn and Brenna’s journey.

What a perfect ending to an amazing series. From the beginning I felt Finn and Brenna were destined to be together. As soon as they meet, sparks fly. Brenna has been pressured to be with someone she’s not wanting to be with. Her mom pushes her to the point she’s fed up. Finn wants nothing more than to give Brenna everything. They have their ups and downs for sure, but they definitely also have great chemistry. Things are going pretty good until we have a dead body, Finn ends up in prison for twenty years and Brenna disappears. Brenna gets some pictures that really upset her. Wait til you find out what they are. Finn has some rough times in prison, but makes it thru, while Brenna goes thru quite a bit also. She is sold to one man, tries to run away, and saves a kid from choking-she than becomes a nanny for the terrible man and his wife. She goes thru quite a bit while with the family. The man is awful and makes Brenna do things she doesn’t want to. Brenna sometimes hears-“Fight firefly, fight and don’t stop,” Finn’s nickname for her. Finn, while in prison always wonders where she is and if she is ok. When he gets out, will he find Brenna, will the truth of the dead body come out, and can Brenna and Finn have their happy ending? This book was definitely a page turner and I didn’t want to put it down. I’m sad to see this series ending but also happy to see relationships form and families being made. One of my favorite quotes is “Always. Forever.” Once you read you’ll understand.

Well, what can I say about this 10th and final novel in the Mafia Wars series? I began writing this review 3 days ago, trying to sum up my thoughts. My feelings are in utter turmoil, I have never been as engrossed and enthralled in ANY book I have ever read - and I’ve been an avid reader for more years than I would care to mention. The story is a gut wrenching, heartbreaking and emotional tearjerker and I can tell you that not much reduces me to tears but this novel did on more than one occasion!

I have enjoyed every novel in this fabulous series, some more than others, but this book was my most eagerly awaited and it certainly did not disappoint. I was totally wrapped up in the angst and heartbreak that Finn endured throughout this book - Ms Cole is an expert at projecting feelings through words on a page!

I have fallen in love with the Ivanov and O’Malley families in this series and I am soooooo sad that it has come to an end, however, the best, in my opinion, has been left to last! Hopefully, we will continue to catch up with the O’Malleys in the forthcoming Mafia Wars New York series, the characters from which have been introduced to us in the last three books.

If you haven’t started reading this epic series yet and you are a fan of dark Mafia romance then one click this immediately, you will most definitely not be disappointed! An absolutely amazing series that deserves every star that it receives. I can feel a re-read coming on while I’m waiting for the new series to be released!
