A wonderful shifter book. I recommend this book for anyone who enjoys shifter romance books. The characters are very relatable, and you feel all of their emotions. So steamy scenes. So action. Lots of romance. All around great books

Mark is a widowed Werecougar who lives alone. His only companion is his best friend Werebear Danny. The two have been by each others sides for Centuries always looking out for one another like brothers. Mark is riddled with grief and sadness over the murder of his wife and children over 2 centuries ago. He's never allowed himself to move on or feel anything for anybody until one day while at his river he comes face to face with a Bear.
Amber is the Werebear daughter to the Chief of her Clan. She is considered the Clan's Princess and has already been promised to Koda another werebear in her Clan who is next in line to be Chief. Amber is against her father's archaic ideologies and she constantly rebels against his rules and sneaks away. On the night she went for a run she comes upon a river and encounter an awfully friendly Cougar who she just thinks is a sweet kitty.
Koda is next in line to be Chief and has been friends with Amber since they were kids. Koda is onboard with her father's plan in forcing Amber to marry him but no matter how hard Koda tries he knows Amber isn't attracted to him in that way. In fact; she thinks of him as a brother.
Amber and Mark embark on a secret semi platonic relationship must to Koda and her father's dismay but during a sneak attack on the Clan and Mark's willingness to save and protect a Werebear from sudden death he is accepted as an ally to the Clan.
Tragedy strikes the Werebear Clan as well as some unrelated messiness regarding some insignificant chick who tried to gain Mark's attention in a bar one day that eventually leads to a rift between Mark and Amber that leads her back to Koda. Koda understanding that Amber will never love him the way he loves her decides to be what he has always been to Amber…..A Friend. He puts his differences aside an encourages her to talk to Mark so they can make things right. In the end they all end up being a part of each others lives in one capacity or another.
This story ends with a HEA. I hope this author makes this into a series because I would love to read about Koda finding his HEA as well.

I loved this one so much! And yes, at first even though I wanted to punch someone in the face repeatedly at first, (we all know who), it all worked out in the end. I love how they reacted to one another. And the meet cute was adorable. The characters were wonderful, relatable, I would love to see more of this world. I felt so many emotions reading this. Loss, anger, love, hope. Happiness. I cheered for them from the beginning and was pleasantly surprised by the outcome. I wish I could give more than five stars!I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is literally the best book I have read in awhile. I read 2 to 4 books a week, and this has all the ingredients of an outstanding book. Great plot, storyline, and characters who are two different type of shifters. You will not go wrong buying this one!
Ugh. Bad. The writing style isn’t to my tastes and the pacing is way off. Emotions assigned to the female lead are conflicting. Not finishing this. Pretty cover, though.
First I need to say I got this audiobook in a free code for review situation, I love paranormal romance stories, and the premise sounded intriguing. After listening to it, I have to admit if I had known it was going to go the route it did I probably wouldn’t have picked it up under normal circumstances. (I’ll put why, with spoiler markers below.)
The narrator took a little getting used to; he has a very nice, deep voice that is soothing to listen to but his pacing is a little slower than I would normally prefer. There were also quite a few instances where it wasn’t clear that the point of view had switched characters which made it extremely confusing because he doesn’t change his voice/tone unless he’s using a voice for a character, like a surfer dude for the best friend Danny, or a rather petulant tone for the FMC, Amber. But all internal dialogue and regular narration sounds the same.
Narration aside… There was a third POV thrown in that muddled the story; you have the FMC, Amber, and the MMC, Mark, but then you also have Amber’s betrothed that she doesn’t love, Koda, at random times and it really threw me off. A lot of his internal dialogue in the beginning is really gross, misogynistic “I want to own her, she’ll fall in line” ick, and I guess it serves to solidify why Amber doesn’t want to be with him but as the story progresses you get less of his POV and although he gets less awful I just don’t know that it was necessary to hear his side?
(Big spoilers below this point) . . . Also, Amber is all over the place, and at first I thought maybe it was the narrator just making her sound more petulant than she really is, especially with her father being the overprotective and controlling jerk that he was up until like ten minutes before he died, but later in the story when she makes assumptions about Mark and then ghosts him, even considers marrying Koda when she finds out she’s pregnant (and doesn’t think she wants to tell Mark!) it’s clear she’s actually petulant and pretty selfish. And this is why I probably wouldn’t have picked this story up had I known it was going to go the pregnancy route. I find more often than not when the FMC gets pregnant, they act extremely selfishly and I just … can’t relate? Don’t find that enjoyable? Both. Idk. I find that pregnancy often ruins the story for me in some way. This was how this time. Mark does and says ALL the right things; confesses his love, dotes on her, spills his guts about his dead wife and children, protects the territory that he is told he’s not welcome on, takes care of the hunters that killed her father, was even willing to let her go if that would make her happy — all before even knowing she was pregnant. And she still treats him like a heel. Yes, they get back together and he continues to dote on her and then the children in the epilogue but the whole time I’m like wow, she does… not deserve him. :/
But! The writing was really good, I would probably read something by Valerie Moon again if it didn’t have the pregnancy angle. I would listen to this narrator again too! It just wasn’t a story for me… but maybe it is for you!

Mark is a cougar shifter that is still grieving over the murder of his wife and kids centuries ago. Then he ends up meeting Amber out by the lake. He is hidden in the brush, but he knows that she is aware he is there and seems to enjoy his watching her. Amber is the werebear princess whose father set up an arranged marriage with Koda, next in line to be Chief of the Clan, in order to strengthen the Clan. Koda and Amber are more like brother and sister, however, so she is not happy about the arrangement. She just doesn’t love him, and she wants a mate she can love and who will love her also. She wanders away and meets a friendly cougar. Are the two of them fated to be together? And how would she get out of being promised to Koda?
The audiobook version’s narrator is Eric Nash. He does a great job with the voices with great intonation to make it easy for the listener to get an accurate idea of what each character is like. It helps to set the mood and is an enjoyable way to “read” and enjoy the book.

For almost 200 years I’ve kept to myself. And then there she was. The most beautiful creature, naked, on my land. She even called to me like I was her kitty. I’m no pussy cat but, I’d be anything she wanted me to be Even if she was the princess of a bear-shifting clan that wouldn’t approve of my kind. Can I convince her we are meant to be? Will she leave her clan and her betrothed to be loved by her werecougar forever?
This book is the first book ive read of Valerie moon. and it has some potential. Her writting styl is excallent and skilled. But this book was a really slow burner for me. i normally read more up speed books with some more action. So i just missed action. but for a shifter romance it was a fun and easy read, wonderfull characters, great worldbuilding. en i enjoyed it. but because ive missed some action i gave it 4 stars.
Mark is a cougar shifter that is saddened over the grief of his family that is no longer with him. He’s not moved on or met anyone until one day he happens upon Amber by the lake.
Amber is the princess Werebear of the Chief of her Clan. An arranged marriage has been set up between her and Koda. Koda is next in line to be Chief , he and Amber have been friends since they were kids. In order to strengthen the clan they need to marry. Koda is on board but knows she thinks of him as a brother .She doesn't agree with their archaic ways. One night she takes off and comes upon a cougar.
This story ends with a HEA. I’m not sure but this may be the beginning of a series. We need to see if Koda finding his HEA he is such a wonderful character.
This book is the first book I’ve read of Valerie moon. It's a fun shifter romance with insta love . I like a little more build up with my characters, but I would give it a solid 4 stars.
I'm starting this off with saying I dislike love triangles and the miscommunication trope and this book contained both of these! That being said, I still very much liked this book.
The writing is great, you can totally get into the heads of the characters and you feel great sympathy for the third wheel even if he's being hard-headed at times. It helps to find out that book two is about poor Koda, I'm happily reading the next one to find out if he gets his HEA too.
Amber and Mark have a cute, Romeo and Juliet kind of romance going on and explosive chemistry. It was a quick romantic read with a little action to make this suspenseful.
Definitely recommend! It's only four stars because of the thrown in miscommunication bit at the end, could have done without that in my opinion.

The author Ms Moon has written a nice shifter story, this is the first book I read by Ms Moon and I will read more books by her. This is the story of Amber one is a bear shifter and Mark is a cougar shifter. She is forced by her father to marry Koda, whom she dislikes. She wants to marry someone she loves and who loves her too.
Will they be able to form a relationship or will she be guided by what her father commands and not try to form a relationship with a cougar-shifter. There's danger, sadness, some action and a lot of romance and steaming hot scenes. If you like shifter stories, this is definitely a must!

This is my first read by this author. I was not real impressed, but I plan to read more in case it was me being bad. Mark, a cougar-shifter, is in the woods running along a river when he hears something large coming his way, so he takes refuge in a bush. What he sees is a bear that changes into a woman with long red hair. The most beautiful woman he has ever seen. Now the bear's name is Amber. Amber feels trapped by her father. Her father has it in his head that Amber WILL marry Koda. Amber dreams to marry a man she finds and that she then falls in love with. This story has some action, plenty of romance and some steam. I just didn't find enough plot.

This was an easy book to enjoy. Amber is a werebear, but her father, the leader of their clan, is overprotective and treats her like a teenager even though she is 23. She is desperate to enjoy her life without being confined to her bedroom or promised to the next clan leader, Koda. Mark is a werecougar, a widower and 200+ years old. Reigned to spend the rest of his life with his cat and best friend, until he meets Amber. There is an instant attraction, but all the pack politics and the appearance of hunters makes it hard for them to be together. I loved the name game they had going on. I felt really sorry for Koda, he did everything he could but it just wasn't enough. I liked that the author didn't make him a bad guy. This is a standalone with a HEA.
Cougar shifter Mark is widowed, alone except for his best friend, a bear shifter named Danny. While out on a run, he comes across Amber, a bear shifter who is daughter to the alpha of her clan. She wants to marry for love but her father wants her to marry his successor who is a good friend of hers. Skyrockets grow for Mark and Amber, with a few roadblocks here and there. The characters are well developed. The storyline has a great plot and dialogue to keep you entertained. Surprises and drama as well as steam keep it moving along. Great ending.

From the get-go - I loved this book then I made the mistake of reading the 2nd book of the series before I wrote this review. The changes to the storyline and personalities of the players in the 2nd book changed my view/feelings about this book.
Now back to this book: the heat between Mark and Amber is off the chart from the first page on. I haven't figured out the scenes between Amber and Koda where she seems interested(cough, cough..stop leading him on!). Then there is megaphone Chloe; why would you keep someone as a friend who broadcasts your personal thoughts that were given in confidence. Other than that I loved this book.

Mark and Amber's story is one I really enjoyed it's fairly fast-paced about how they met and how their relationship developed. Amber is the daughter of the Chief/Alpha of a clan of bear shifters, her father is pushing for her to mate with Koda but she doesn't have any feelings for him and wants to marry for love! Mark is a cougar shifter, they met on the banks of the river, Mark was hiding in the undergrowth when she changed from her bear into her human form, they talked and became friends first but could it become more, will Mark and Amber come together?

Highly recommended.

whilst this book was about a werebear clan and the struggle that Amber faces being a female werebear and not having the same freedom as a male, it does discuss the cross-species fancying of each other and it was done in a really nice way. An easy read which had humour running through it with suspense dashed woven throughout.

Amber is already betrothed to Koda, but she always felt that Koda was more like a brother than something more. She crosses paths with Mark (a werecougar), and they both feel the connection, can she convince her father and their clan of werebears that Mark is a better choice for her? I enjoyed this shifter romance, both Amber and Mark were easy to like, and I enjoyed their tale. I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received, and giving my thoughts and opinions on it.
Mark is a werecougar trying to live his life. Amber is a werebear princess being forced to marry with her best friend. When Mark and Amber accidentally meet up at a creek, Mark falls for her. After chasing her down and meeting in person, Amber falls too. But clan politics, hunters, an envious woman and Amber’s father make their relationship falter. Fast and fun read.

This is a well written book with strong characters and an entertaining story line. The author does a great job developing the story and brings all the feels. The scenes are painted perfectly and the story moves fluidly. I loved reading and would recommend this book.

This is a new Author to me. I found Mark a widowed Werecougar and Amber a Werebear and the daughter to the Chief of her Clan, plus Mark's friend Werebear Danny's story. There is suspense, drama, danger, twists, turns, villains, and romance. I enjoyed reading. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was my first inter shifter series and I loved it. Mark and Amber were so great together and koda turned out to be a real friend to both of them. There is heartbreak, love and laughter. I received an arc of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

A very hot paranirmal romance. 200 year old cougar shifter, a young werebear, promised to the next Chief and danger. Will she go against the demand from her father, the Chief. She is attracted to the cougar and the cougar is attracted to her. He lost his family many years ago. But will her father and the Chief to be keep them apart? I received this ARC for an honest review.
This is my first time reading Valerie Moon. I must say I love her style of writing. She sucks you in, making you feel like you are actually there. I fell in love with the two main characters Mark and Amber. They might be from different species, but they prove that nothing can keep you apart from your fated mate. A must read.
Plenty of action and drama in this book. I thoroughly enjoyed the chemistry and storyline to this book. Kept me hooked and each chapter had lots to offer. I recieved a free copy via Booksprout and I’m giving my review freely and honestly
This book takes you through a few different emotions. At times, we love the main characters and at time we want to scream at them. The story had drama and adventure, which kept me engaged and needed to keep reading. Koda, Amber and Mark and the world itself were well written and easy to envision.
