Orcas Island #2

Sunset Secrets

Rate this book
Living in paradise isn’t always what it’s cracked up to be…

Marty Coursin is finally living the good life. Free of the erroneous FBI charges against him, now he’s able to spend his days in comfort on Orcas Island. Sure, there’s a bit of a mystery surrounding who’s been sending him strange, anonymous messages. But who cares about that when everything is going his way, including the arrival of a beautiful, fascinating new resident?

Emma Dickinson is ready for a fresh start. With her health problems under control and her divorce finalized, island life is exactly what she needs. She won’t ever fall in love again, though. Not even with her charming new friend, Marty. No matter how perfect he seems, risking her heart again is not in her best interest. Or so she keeps telling herself…

Will Marty’s secretive nature, colorful past, and best intentions only serve to keep Emma at arm’s length? Or will she learn to trust – and love – him enough to take a shot at happily ever after?

Sunset Secrets, book two in the Orcas Island series, is a sweet, romantic, contemporary women’s fiction read full of joy and second chances. Enjoy the sites of the San Juan Islands through the eyes of your favorite islanders – Marty, Lucy, and Claire.

Marty is loving his new life living on Orcas Island after finding his family and being cleared by the FBI of all charges. There is only one thing now that Marty must deal with. He has been getting messages and letters from an anonymous person, and he is trying desperately to figure it out. Sure, he became somewhat famous after his debacle with the FBI and received fan mail, but this is different. While Marty is trying to solve the mystery, he also meets a new friend named Emma, who piques his interest in a different way. Can Marty find the mysterious person responsible for the letters? Will Marty find love, or will he be in the friend zone with Emma?

Emma has come to Orcas Island for a fresh start. Newly divorced and with her health concerns taken care of it is time to start a new life. Emma is not interested in love or even a relationship, all she wants is her cat back from her ex-husband who is playing games with Emma. When she meets Marty who vows to help reunite her with her cat, she starts questioning whether she can be in another relationship and risk getting hurt again. Can Emma trust Marty with her heart?

I loved Sunset Cove, the first book in the Orcas Islandseries by Amelia Addler, so I was so excited to start Sunset Secrets and was not disappointed. The characters are so well written that I was drawn right into the story of Marty and Emma. I really enjoyed getting to know more about Marty and loved the added bonus of the mysterious letters. It was also fun to visit the other characters we were introduced to in the first book and some cameo appearances from characters from the Westcott Bay series. I adore AmeliaAddlers writing style, her characters and the interesting twists to her novels. She is one of my favourite authors and I am already excited about the next book in the series. Thank you so much to Amelia Addler for the advanced readers copy that I voluntarily read and reviewed. A solid five star plus read my friends.

Sunset Secrets felt a bit like a family reunion. There were many familiar characters which was nice. There were some really unexpected developments. I enjoyed watching Marty and Emma's romance develop. This well written book kept my interest throughout. Will Marty ever be free of the past? Will Emma risk love again? This book can probably be read as a stand alone but will be so much more enjoyable if you have read the first book in the series.

This is the 2nd book in the Orcas Island series. I liked how the author included a brief recap from the prior book. Marty is now working for the new owner of SureFired and is getting his life back on track. Marty meets the CEO’s nanny when he stops by his house for a meeting. The two hit it off, but both are reluctant to get involved. Someone unexpected also comes into Marty and Claire’s lives.

Claire's New life

Wow, such a lovely read, enjoyed the characters and getting to know Emma and Marty, their romance was great to read. Lucy is a fireball of energy, be nice to know more about her in book three of Orcas Island series. The hotel sounds a wonderful place to have a holiday. I love the sound of the location.

Emma is getting her life together after her illness and her husband taking off as he couldn't cope but he has her cat Dolto that she raised and misses dearly. Marty is on awe of her but doesn't want to scare her off however he takes her for tours of the island and out for meals being a friend. Emma loves the island and the friendly local community. Nice easy read

This is my voluntary review of a copy I received from the author.

Great story

There wasn't much anxiety-driven drama in this story, but there were several unexpected turns. I'm really liking this family and can't wait for the next story in the series!

Like the first book, 2nd one was hard to finish. I don’t like when characters are stupid and make ridiculous decisions.

I like her books. They are just a nice, quick easy read. I don't think this one is as good as book one, but I look forward to the next one in the series.
