Myles Donovan may be a trust fund, millionaire real estate developer, but his body still bends to the stress of his past just like everybody else. Now, the pressure of opening an equestrian resort in the small mountain town of Temptation combined with the clock ticking on his first committed relationship, is starting to take its toll physically and mentally. And eventually he finds himself circling back to the darkest moments of his life.
Hair stylist Gemma Taylor has been in a healthy—albeit long distance—relationship with the sexy and oftentimes brooding Myles, for the past six months. She’s elated that all is going well until a random act of vandalism closes her shop in Washington D.C. and sends her home. Temptation boasts a serene lifestyle which some of her siblings are enjoying but brings sultry passionate nights for Gemma and Myles. Has fate brought her back to her hometown to show her what happy ever after could look like?
Or will Myles and Gemma both realize their past was never far behind, as old wounds threaten the only happiness either of them has ever known?

The story gave us just enough to be happy to see this couple again. Gemma and Myles are very close to being my favorite Donovan couple, and there are many to choose from in that bunch. The revisit was lovely, super sexy, and sweet. The story had just enough drama to pull the plot together nicely.
Gemma and Myles hooked up nearly two years ago for the first time. Gemma wanted more and Myles knew . Myles had a past that seemed to have its claws in him. Gemma had a past as well but wanted a HEA. Tragedy struck and drove Myles to nearly turn the world upside down to make sure Gemma was safe. A silly kidnapping attempt a real truth solidified there future. Great read, sexy too.
After reading a short novella about Myles and Gemma, I wanted to find out more about their relationship. Myles and Gemma both have a past that they haven't shared with the other.
I enjoyed the characters in this book. Gemma is a strong woman. Myles is still dealing with his past. Both love their families and try to protect them in different ways. I like the way they supported each other.
This book is part of a series, but doesn't need to be read in order.
Both Myles and Gemma had lots of baggage from their past! His stemming from being seduced as a minor by a grown behind trifling woman. Hers from being part of six children born to a Black family in a small southern town whose family was broken apart during their reality show! Myles' family found out about the illicit affair between their then under aged son and the sex abuser that also worked for the family business settling with her to stay away from their son or go to jail. Gemma on the other hand saw her parents torn apart by an affair her father had with an assistant producer of their reality show! As a result, it took time, patience an the advent of Myles and Gemma falling in love with each other to get them to unpack enough of their past hurt to truly begin a life together! BTW, a mad ex of Gemma almost caused her harm but thanks to those PI members of the Donovan family his efforts were thwarted! I like the suspense of this story and it never fails that someone is always coming out of the woodwork after someone close to the Donovan clan! Finally, why didn't somebody shut Millie the troublemaker up? She got all over my last nerve! I hope her issues are played out in public like she is so fond of doing to others! It stands to reason when someone is as into everybody's business as Millie is, all one need do is crack the door to her closet and bones will fall out and cover you!!!! This was a really good story from start to finish! I enjoyed it immensely!
Gemma and Myles really have alot of emotional baggage to work through and trying to have a relationship at the same time seems to be a bit overwhelming, especially for Myles.
This story is insightful in that falling in love is not all roses and rainbows. Things from our childhood really affect how we view relationships in our adulthood. Add to that being somewhat famous, has put an extra layer of anxiety on finding that true love.
Gemma knows what she wants, but doesn’t trust herself to actually go and get it. Myles is so afraid of putting himself out there emotionally that he’s having a hard time dealing with the emotions that Gemma is evoking in him.
There also another (more sinister) element to the story that I won’t spoil, but let’s just say it brings our the protective nature in Myles.
Really enjoyed Gemma and Myles’ love story.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book.
If you have not picked up this book WHAT ARE YOU WAITING ON. I love A.C Arthur style of writing, I think everyone can find one of her characters relatable in someway.
Gemma like a lot of young black women had to grow up fast and become a helpmate to her mom because her dad wasn’t in the picture, I’m so glad she was able to find her prints in the sea of frogs.
It was very interesting to see the take on Myles childhood because you never hear or see the perspective in the black community, If your intrigued make sure you pick up the books because I’m not gonna drop any spoiler alerts. 😆
Overall the book was great I kind a figured out the plot towards the end but I thought there was going to be a spin on the plot where Paisley was concerned so that threw me that what I thought was not how I thought the book would end.
Anytime I read about a Donovan, I can be sure of a great story. One Perfect Night is no exception. Myles Donovan and Gemma Taylor lit up the pages with their “if you need me, call me” trysts. Their friends-with-benefits affair was good until it wasn’t. Add that they both had some deep issues with past love affairs that still haunted them. If that’s not enough, the storyline takes a turn when Gemma’s hair salon is vandalized, and Myles goes into protector mode with his cousin, Trent’s help. Now it’s a “who-dunnit”. No spoilers. The only thing I can say at this point is, “Read the Story! Great job, A.C Arthur! You took this story from a grown folk sexy romance to an edge of your seat suspense flawlessly. I loved it! You will too. I highly recommend One Perfect Night.
When you get a Donovan in a story, then you know that it will have suspense, and Mrs. Arthur did not disappoint. Myles and Gemma had a Netflix and chill type of relationship, until Cupid came in and said that they would do more than just chill. Myles had to face his past, but he was falling for Gemma in the meantime. Gemma had to realize that she came first, and not to accept being second best. Sometimes people from your past are determine to cause drama, and that is what happened, but they had help from their family to end it, and was able to find their future together.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book.
Myles has a lot of self doubt about loving another person and disappointing his family again. Gemma is a hopeless romantic but has trouble looking at things without "rose colored" glasses.
While Myles and Gems might have been together intimately they are both struggling with being this relationship. These two are completely what each other need. Myles didn't realize how much he loved Gemma until he starts to address this from his past. Gemma keeps getting in her head about Myles and their "relationship". Once these two fully open up and address things that concern them both the magic they share is just special. Great read.
The Donovan's don't leave you lacking. I have enjoyed reading all of the books about tis family. Myles and Gemma belonged together. They had issues that needed to be worked out and by the end of the story they were resolved. Now that Millie was a busy body and in everybody's business. Paisley was a predator and knew better. She should have gone to jail. The shop's vandalism and the kidnapping was drama. It was good having a visit from Trent, Tia, Bailey and Decline I recommend this book, very enjoyable.
Myles Donovan and Gemma Taylor decided to enter an exclusive relationship, however each have reservations based on passed relationships. As events unravel, Gemma and Myles are faced with obstacles and must learn to open up to loving again.
One Perfect Night is a well crafted story of two people gun shy with relationships willing to try love again. Overall an enjoyable read with a few Donovan cameos
Myles Donovan and Gemma Taylor were in a relationship for over a year that few people knew about. They both had bad experiences with exes and were just enjoying each other's company. A lot happened in this book. Gemma's hair salon had been broken into and trashed. The detective investigating seemed to be determined to pin it on Gemma. Myles had a cousin look into to it to determine who was responsible.
Absolutely love this full of surprises story! Gemma and Myles handled their relationship like "grown folks"! They didn't let family or friends interfere, but kept their business on the down-low until they were ready to share. I also loved the way they worked out any misunderstandings. When Gemma needed Myles to show up when her business was vandalized, then destroyed, he was right there. What a shocking surprise when it was revealed who was responsible!
This trip back to Temptation was exciting to say the least. AC gave us the romance we expect in a Temptation story with the suspense we’re known to show up in every Donovan story. This is the perfect Taylor-Donovan mashup. I enjoyed every second of this sexy small town suspenseful romance tale. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
Myles Donovan and Gemma Taylor story kept my attention from beginning to end. They both have crazy people from their past will they be able to survive and have their forever love. I can't wait for the Taylor sisters to get their story and I definitely can't wait for the next Donovan book. Great book
A little crazy, secrets, regrets and passion surround the happily ever after of Gemma and Myles. If ever a time for two series families to cross over it was the Donovan and Taylor families. Each having their own baggage but enough family support and love to conquer all.
I enjoyed reading this book. The writing flows easily and effortlessly. The characters are well developed and strong and beautiful family dynamics. There is sorrow of lost, betrayal, great and strong love and off the chart lovemaking. The book is fast moving and exciting. Look forward to move books in this series.
The Taylor and Donovan familiar are treats to read about. Gemma, one of the Taylor septuplets, has always been the nurturer. In many ways this is good in some not so much. Miles has his own childhood issues. Their solidifying their relationship was fantastic.
Loved reading Gemma and Myles’ story. I was not ready for it to end. I have read the Donovan and Taylor series so I knew this would be good. I’m glad that Myles and Gemma realized they were worthy of love. Can’t wait for the next one!
Great read, I enjoyed the characters and storyline. Myles and Gemma both had baggage from their past. Gemma wanted love , Myles was scared. There was action and drama in their romance. But love prevailed. It was great catching up with the Donovans.
