I fell in love with Grayson at twelve years old. He was my best friend. My rock. The shoulder I cried on when I lost my mom. We grew up together, and I just knew in my heart, we were going to get married after high school. Then on the night before graduation…he broke my heart and pushed me away for good. Seven years later, I'm back in my hometown to help my dad, who has fallen sick. The problem is, a person can change a lot in seven years. They can also hold secrets.
Grayson-
Remy Sinclair was the first girl I ever loved. After many years, seeing her return to our town has stirred up feeling inside me that I thought were buried long ago. Remy has always been too smart to be stuck in this small town going nowhere. That's why I did what I had to and pushed her away. Now she's back, and I can't stop the regret of losing her. Until I find out she's been holding onto a secret for seven years, one that might bring us back together. But she's not the only one holding onto information from the past. Once she learns what I've been keeping from her, I may just lose her forever

I did enjoy most of this book, it was the ending that I didn't like. I will get into that in a bit. I liked the characters. Grayson had a good reason to do what he did, the night before graduation. Do I think he went about it in the worst way? Absolutely. But he did it because he wanted Remy to make something of herself. I know what he did to her, but I think her keeping Jamie a secret was wrong, especially having her dad keeping that secret as well.
Speaking of her dad, I feel like we weren't given details about his illness and what was causing his chest pain, and the reason he needed a $250 medication. But he was a likable character and you can tell how much he loved Remy and Jamie. I also want more information on TJ and Ben, I feel like we were left hanging when it came to them.
Something else that I wasn't a fan of was how when Remy left, she basically forgot Peaches even existed. Then when she comes back to town, they see each other at the doctor's office, and act like the past 7 years didn't happen. Also, it was never once mentioned that Remy or Gray told TJ or Peaches about Jamie being Grays son, but yet they talked about it in front of everyone like it was common knowledge, maybe it was, but I think more details about them telling others was needed. I was also waiting for the moment when she ran into April, and that never happened.
When it comes to Remy and Grays's relationship. One minute she's saying it will never happen, the next second she calls him for a booty call. As for the end, It felt too rushed. Remy didn't have any type of reaction (expect some tears) to find out the truth. If I found something that big out, I wouldn't just sit down all calm, I would demand to know why he didn't tell me the truth when he found out (I know he tells her why) but still. She needed time to process what she was told and she didn't. I did like how they ended up together and were having another baby. I am glad Gray gets to experience that.
There were times where the timelines were off or didn't line up. I found myself going back a couple of pages to see if I missed something. I did enjoy the amount of spice and how they both took control during those situations. Gray wasn't over dominating and even mentioned he knows Remy likes to be in control as well. It was well balanced.

After having her heart broken by her high school sweetheart, her one true love, Remy leaves her hometown, but 7 years later, due to her father's ailing health, Remy returns and she is bringing her own secret with her. With it being such a small town and everyone knowing everyone's business, it's not long before she runs into the one and only love of her life, Grayson. Old feelings soon resurface, and secrets of the past are finally revealed. Will there be a HEA for Remy or will Grayson always be the one that got away?
I really do enjoy these adorable small-town romances with added drama and complications as well as loveable, if somewhat infuriating, MCs. I found myself loving Grayson more than Remy, although the choices he made were questionable, his heart was in the right place. Remy on the other hand was a little annoying. I felt at times, things were a little too perfect. A secret of 6 years but all forgiven within the space of a single conversation and a side character that really didn't add anything to the story. There are some unanswered questions and maybe a little rushed in places.
I must admit, I loved the spicy scenes, they were "FIRRRRRRRRRRE" lol and I was hoping for that HEA because I am a hopeless romantic. I am looking forward to the next book in the series and hope that Grayson makes an appearance.
Overall, it's a cute small-town romance. Plenty of fun with adorable and spicy moments. What more could you ask for?
Thank you, B. S. Schmitt for an ARC ebook in return for an honest review.
Ok let’s start off with this book only received a 4 star because a pregnancy trope isn’t quite my thing, I’m not against it but I don’t seek it out.
With that being said this book was amazing! So we’ll written and just kept me interested the entire time. Fantastic second chance romance with some drama added in and it just was so good! Grayson and Remy relationship starts off with a cheating scandal that eventually is discovered that Grayson wasn’t such a cheater after all but was just trying to do what was best for Remy, which was so sweet in the long run. The drama but falling back in love after years apart is just the best feeling when reading a second chance trope. Overall amazing book! Highly recommend it you won’t be disappointed!!!

This second chance romance in a small town book has warmed my cold heart right in time for the holidays!
After being away for 7 years, Remy returns to her small hometown to care for her sick father. She’s forced to take the only job available at a business ran by her ex-boyfriend that destroyed her heart in high school.
This book was a quick read packed with drama & tons of spice!
I went in to this book blind and not expecting much and immediately was drawn in. I liked this book so much more than I thought I would. I usually prefer clean steam and this was a little spicier than I usually read, but this time I did not mind as much. I just loved the characters so much. I picked this book up because I follow the author on tik tok. Well, I can’t wait to tell her I will be reading more of her books. I read this book in less than 24 hours.
