Lots of illustrations and small blocks of text make this more of a coffee table book that reads in a couple hours. I was expecting more of a homesteading manual vibe, and this is definitely more of a zombie apocalypse prepper vibe. In addition to really practical tips on raising chickens or building a lean-to in the woods there’s advice to put canned goods inside your walls and repair the wall so no one can tell, stock up on ammo, set a broken bone, treat a gunshot wound, pretend to have a large dog, etc. Some of it is pretty out there, but still an interesting read.
I've read a lot of books similar to this one but I really enjoyed the simple layouts and pictures. The full color pictures made it easy to understand and the layout made it easy to read and follow. It's a very basic book for beginners but a good one.
