"Elise the Freak," that's what people called me when I was just a child in that small Kansas town. It was hurtful and scarred me, but I finally escaped, no longer allowing that name to identify me. Now, I'm Elise Crawford. I live in a different place, a bigger city. I have a college degree and live on my own. It's what I've always dreamed of but, with one exception. I still see dead people. I never could escape them. Suddenly, a new man has entered my life. A mysterious man I'm reluctantly attracted to, yet can't quite figure out. But, I plan to change that too, just like I changed everything else in my life.

If you like paranormal then you definitely need to read this book, Leslie Fear pulls you in and keeps you there, her stories always keep me wondering how things will turn out. The chemistry between the characters is great, even the side characters in this book have so much charm and charisma, you hope they get a book next. The main character Elise is easy to fall in love with and the Hero in this book Ascot, is cool, funny and all alpha when needed. Can't wait to read more about these two.

It was a really good book.♥♥
I have never read a Leslie Fear book before so it was a really good start.

It was imaginative, cute, funny, mythical .

Overall i wanted to read something different from my usual genres and tropes and after a series of okayish stuff...this was like breath of fresh air. Only thing missing was chemistry...hence the 4⭐⭐⭐⭐
I will be on the lookout for more from this author.
Recommend you to just dive in 😁

"Their voices grow louder the second I unlock my apartment door, but I’ve learned to tune them out. It’s the only way to maintain my sanity. I know it pisses them off they’ve been fighting for my attention since I walked in the building. One by one they hover in my peripheral as I make my way to the second floor. Some drifting only inches away on my left, while others hang further back, and linger to my right. I’ll eventually get to them, I always do. But tonight, I’m officially off duty, even for dead people." 😱

This is one of the craziest openings to a book I've read in a while ... and it instantly grabbed my attention! Could you imagine being haunted by the voices of DEAD PEOPLE 24/7? I know that when I pick up a book by Leslie Fear, it's going to be unique, fun and CERTAINLY ESCAPIST in these craziest of times. Her writing is superb and she is so dang creative that I usually carve out hours of uninterrupted time just so I can read the book from start to finish. I had the pleasure of reading books 1 & 2 of her Graveyard Watchman series (also fantastic BTW), which was my first dip in the paranormal romance book genre and I became hooked. Her novels are written in a very captive way and almost make you feel like the characters are REAL!

I fell in love with Elise (penned "Elise the Freak" due to her abilities), because she was likeable, relatable and just wanted to fit in like everyone else. While she was able to escape her small town life and start over in the big city, she still wasn't living the life she dreamed ... UNTIL SHE MEETS ASCOT! They live in the same apartment complex and once his aquarium breaks and starts flooding her apartment, things get strange, wild and FUN. What Elise doesn't know is that Ascot is a demigod and then son of Apollo (yes, the Greek Apollo) and her life changes the moment they lock eyes on each other. They have a slow burn, but sweet relationship and the reader discovers that Ascot was put her in her life at exactly the perfect time - to not only help her find herself, but also save others struggling to stay safe around her.

This book is a wild ride ... and I don't want to give too much away because I think the reader should go in blindly. Thank you again, Leslie, for introducing me to this exciting genre. You're a fantastic author and I appreciate your uncanny ability to make me laugh and cry at the same time during your novels!
