___________ Author’s Note: Reckless Covenant is Book 2 in The Sanctum Syndicate series of interconnected standalones. It is a dark mafia romance with sensitive content. Please go to the author’s website for the full list of triggers.
This book has been previously published under the same title within a multi-author collection. The 2nd edition has been re-edited and it contains bonus content, however the story is unchanged.
this was kind of a rollercoaster for me, at some points in the book i’d feel as if it wasn’t worth it while during the others i was head over heels about the main couple by the end of it though i ended up liking it a lot, i think a reason for it feeling like a rollercoaster is that their history is scattered across the book instead of being listed together somewhere so you don’t really know whats happening till pretty far off in the book📈📉📈 they were pretty fucked together but somehow also fit beautifully😫🤷♀️ spoilers and safety at the end
We’re on even ground. Eve and The Serpent. second chance romance💍👩🦰🐍 JP hero😤 h was a mastermind🫶🏼 the h was no damsel in distress and always got out of her messes on her own🗡️💅 dirty talking H and h (the h one was a first for me)🤌🏻🤌🏻 “You’re so damn handsome, all enthralled like that inside my cunt…” H was whipped for the fl🎀 both the mcs were wild🔥🔥 lots of will they, won’t they vibes✨ spicee🌶️🌶️🥵 a sexually active h with a spine who didn’t suffer from the “my body betrayed me syndrome”🤩🤩 hate sex✨ really supportive H💗 who was ready to wait as long as it took the h to forgive him😭💍💍💍 protective H😫 the best part was where vincent tells morrigan that he never left her side and always kept tabs on her and tells her how jealous he was of every om she was with 🦋🦋🦋 ”I had no choice, Morrigan… But I never actually left. I kept tabs, knew how your life was going, how smart you were becoming and how strong. Through gritted teeth and a broken heart, I was forced to watch you meet others, and eventually Holt… but I wanted to kill them all.” I fucking wanted to rip them apart, into small pieces, then drop them on her doorstep to show her what happens to the men that touch her. I wanted to fuck her in a sea of their broken limbs, desecrate their goddamn remains with our ecstasy. I still do. Only Holt can fucking die whilst watching her take me on his future motherfucking grave.🤌🏻🫀🙇♀️
now another thing was that the h owned a sex club, where she sometimes pole danced (under a mask) which btw slay queen😂🤷♀️🤌🏻 so, one day, a few weeks before the present time line the H sees her there and feels drawn towards her and ends up fingering her, he later feels guilty for wanting her bc his one and only was actually his eve (morrigan) but for some reason couldn’t stop thinking about her, the second time they meet when morrigan/eve is under disguise, he recognises her and figures out that they’re the same person, the h realised (though she figures it out before the H) that it was vincent who finger fucked her that night as well!
safety - the h was a virgin when they first dated as teenagers, she saved herself for him - the H was a little older than the h - 8/9 year separation - h fucks around and gets into relationships, and even falls into love with om (but the love she feels for the om doesn’t compare to what she felt for the H) - not much is given about the H’s past but he is not celibate either - no ow drama - om drama: the guy the h falls for, at first he seems fine but then turns out to become an obsessive, abusive asshole who wants to control the h, who even announces their engagement without even telling or proposing the h - om drama 2: morrigan at one point wished she had fucked the H’s friend/brother Maddox just to take revenge on vincent - while the mcs are talking about “fantasies”, the H edges the h and forces the fact that she has had fantasies about maddox out of her, the H replies by telling her he always knew and was secure enough to be okay with it, the h ofc tells him that though she was felt sexually attracted to maddox, she’s never wanted him or loved him. - the H being okay with all of this and being secure enough in their relationship is big surprise to the h who’s usually all her life been controlled or tried to have her freedom taken away and sees this as him seeing her a person and not an object to possess I’m not entirely sure how to respond to all of this, but all I can say is that this man never ceases to amaze me. This kind of freedom is so fucking refreshing. honestly this was pretty refreshing and real and made me like the H even more - sharing there is a threesome scene with maddox, eve and vincent which btw is smokinggg 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ - no cheating
the past spoilers ahead
8-9 years ago as teenagers vincent and morrigan after a lot of time of mutual pinning get together and fall in love though this love only lasts for a couple of months as the H suddenly leaves her without any proper explanation whatsoever which shatters the h’s heart now obviously like in every second chance romance he has a reason for it the reason being the h’s father who blackmailed the H to either leave morrigan or he’d send his friend/brother (maddox) to jail for life
both the mcs try to forget each other by telling themselves that it was just a teenage fling, too young and fragile to even be called “love” we are told during this time the h goes through a lot of men and eventually even falls for one (the toxic af “fiance”) there is no major info given about the hero’s past but it is clear that he was not celibate either
an important thing i almost forgot is that the H was actually building his empire when he and the fl were together and now that he’s powerful enough he’s back for his girl✨
now they meet again 6-7 months before the present timeline thats going on in the book, though both of them lived in the same city they usually ignored each other and made sure their paths didn’t cross, now months ago the h saw vincent attending her mother’s birthday party and well, she stabs him in the chest we love a violent h💅💅
the reason why he suddenly came to the party which is given much later in the book, is because the H had taken care of the evidence and the police officer, things that would’ve led to his brother’s ruination so now he was ready to fight for the h but she didn’t really want anything to do with him and even though she loved him, she made him work for it😌🫶🏼🥹
some of my fav quotes💌💌 (might contain spoilers)
I have no right to be protective of her; she doesn’t belong to me, and I’ve been repeating this to myself too many times in the last few months, but I can’t seem to be convincing enough. She was mine once, and I’ve been telling myself she was too young to count it as real… we weren’t deep enough to warrant what lingered after. Either way, it doesn’t make this right, forced marriage or whatever the fuck this is!
She was always there, always. My little obsession. The one I was forced to let go of all those years ago… I had to move on. I convinced myself that she was too young for this life anyway, even though it was bullshit.
“Don’t fucking play with me, Serpent. Fuck me or get down on your knees, either way… make me come!” “Oh, you’ve got a filthy mouth on you, Little Eve. Is this what you want?” I slam into her, balls deep, her body hitting the wall with a loud thud, knocking the air out of her. As I slide out slowly, her pussy grips every single inch of me. “Or this?” I slam harder and she yelps.
We call each other everything but who we are, because our names on our lips carry a weight of a love that never was, they carry promises and shattered dreams, and… they sound like hope. And the hardest fucking thing in this world is allowing hope to brush your soul. Yet here I am…
There’s no shame, no inhibition, no restraint as she gets herself off on me, and Christ if that’s not enough to push me over the edge. Using me for her own pleasure and I’m a willing participant at the cusp of begging her for more.
Her soft body on top of mine, skin against skin, our hearts beating too fast, too hard, too loud… fuck. This is it for me, isn’t it?
What a rollercoaster!! This book kept me on the edge for the whole time and I loved it!!!
To be honest I was bit confused in the beginning and I was like "give me some f**king answers now, I need to understand!!🙈😤" But the more I read, the more i got inside the story. I was enthralled by it.... By the secrets, the violence, the power games played, the friendship, the brotherhood, the characters....
Vincent and Morrigan are great characters but so complex. They are quite the contraddiction: they are darkness, they are tough, yet they carry a softness, a weakness... it made them somehow more real.
What I really liked about this story is that Morri isn’t some damsel in distress. She is able to save herself. And Vincent just love her fire. Their connection, their love are nothing but perfect in their own imperfection.
But, and i hate to say this, i didn't really appreciate a scene between them and another character. I think that "thing" was unnecessary, and it really puzzled me for a bit. It's just didn’t feel right for them. And that's why I didn’t give it 5 full stars.
That being said, Lilith Roman created an addicting dark world, but Reckless Covenant just scratched the surface of it. Hopefully she gonna give us more because i'd really like to know more about the other characters, especially about Lulù 😌😌😏
This is the second book I have read by this author. Just like the other book, I really enjoyed this one as well. As a fan of mafia romance books, this one did hit the spot for me. It is all dark and angsty.
Vincent and Morrigan are the type of couple I think of when I think of enemies to lovers. They definitely had a vibe about them that kept me reading. Although, this was not the case in the beginning I must admit. I struggled a bit to stay focused on the story. In fact, it felt like forever to get find myself having finished a third of the way of the story. Yet, I stuck with this book as I know this author can write.
Luckily, I did as the story really picked up including the steam factor. I mean things were so hot that I needed a cool glass of water. Looking forward to reading the next book by Lilith.
This edited and extended version delivers the same deliciously forbidden vibe. We asked for more of the Sanctum and Ms Roman delivered in spades, this is now book two and it promises to much more to come. If you like strong heroines and sinful possessive heroes who don’t shy away from a little blood and are ready to destroy everything for their women then in this universe you’ll find meat to sink your teeth into.
★4.70 burning stars★
It’s funny how Eve’s story, the story of a woman, has been passed on by men only, tradition accepts the tale of the tempted woman who sins and then leads the man to their fall. We have accustomed our minds to accept that story as given fact, even nowadays, when finally people question many generally acknowledged truths; we still, even if unconsciously, paint Eve as guilty. Thankfully romancelandia (𝖺𝗇𝗈𝗍𝗁𝖾𝗋 𝖾𝗇𝗏𝗂𝗋𝗈𝗇𝗆𝖾𝗇𝗍 𝗌𝗈 𝖿𝗂𝗅𝗅𝖾𝖽 𝗐𝗂𝗍𝗁 𝗆𝗂𝗌𝗉𝗅𝖺𝖼𝖾𝖽 𝖻𝖾𝗅𝗂𝖾𝖿𝗌 𝖺𝗇𝖽 𝗉𝗋𝖾𝗃𝗎𝖽𝗂𝖼𝖾𝗌) grants us an escape.

Lilith Roman gives us a new key to read Eve’s story, opening our horizon to unexplored, other possible interpretations. In this world 𝗘𝘃𝗲 aka Morrigan is a beautiful red haired powerful fierce woman, and her tempting apple is offered by an alluring all-consuming 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘁 aka Vincent.
Set in a world where family duty, greed and richness come first, a place where women are deemed inept to conduct business, their role is to sit pretty and say yes. Morrigan breaks the mould, she refuses to comply, she is her own woman fighting for her own freedom. I love how Ms Roman depicts a universe where finally men and women play equal roles, a world where men, aren’t afraid to step back, they support the female counterpart without feeling threatened since they know their worth and don’t need to bring women down to feel powerful.
The story is told in dual POV, the author takes her time showing how Morrigan evolves, she has a lot to work for, she needs to build her own persona, she needs to fight her inner self as well as the people in her life who constantly put her in danger, treating her like a commodity. I appreciated how Sinclair is this formidable, unbreakable dark lord, yet becomes so tender in front of his Eve. A man so confident he encourages his woman to grow, to be free, his unwavering support and boundless love grants her the darkness she needs without suffocating her. Complementing Morrigan and Sinclair is an array of side characters that left me with a burning desire to learn more, to read their stories.
I thoroughly enjoyed biting into this juicy forbidden fruit and tasting the subtle hints to Eve’s story, I was beautifully fascinated by the 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗺 and its endearing members, and even if this instalment was born as part of a Collection I strongly hope Lilith will give us more of this alluring universe and its charming characters. Pretty Please 🥺
I was excited for this book from the day I read the sneak peak in Lilith's newsletter. It was an enjoyable experience. 💖
Pros:
1) The storyline was good. The reveal about Boseman was intriguing and I truly didn't see that coming.
2) The savagery and blood 💀😈 I especially LOVED the 'crimson on white dress' scene at the end and the smile Morri kept on her face the whole time. I am just imagining how deliciously deranged it must have looked! 🗡️🖤🗡️
3) The smut was amazing!! First, the sheer amount of sexual tension in small touches. Just wow. That particular restaurant scene was giving me goosebumps with how decadent it was. Second, that scene with Madds ...holy damn fuck. It was highly anticipated and Lilith delivered in an epic fashion. 🔥🔥🔥 It was very hot.
4) The depiction of Emotional abuse...I love a thing about Lilith's books ...she takes a topic that's not that easy to capture and brings it out into the light, raw and beautiful, through her characters. It was primal play (consensual non-consent sex) in MKOM and emotional abuse in Reckless Covenant. It was displayed amazingly.
Cons:
1) This one is not an actual bad thing about this novel and just my personal pet peeve (that I realized now, after experiencing this thing way too much before and not understanding what was annoying me.) I love a poetic writing style but I immensely dislike cheesy, OTT poetic dialogues. They pull me out of my reading zone. (This happened to me with Gothikana and The annihilator by Runyx too).
Reckless Covenant has those poetic conversations that I can't and wasn't able to appreciate.
2) Considering this was a second chance romance, I wanted to see more things about the couple's past. I wanted flashbacks (especially of the moment when Vincent broke up with Morri). I was expecting that very much and I didn't get it.
“The original sin… only I was always a sinner. You were just the devil who embraced me.”
Reckless Covenant is a second chance, first love, forbidden mafia romance with dark secrets, violence, power games, and complex, interesting characters. I devoured this book! It had me on the edge of my seat the whole time while reading. I had so many questions and the burning need to know the answers to my questions had me glued to my kindle reading.
The characters were so unique and the plot was phenomenal. This book was dark, twisty, and angsty in all the right ways and the twists.. my god it was so good! I’m really hoping Roman decides to write more books set in this world and I cannot wait to see what else she writes!
This was an incredible second chance, mafia romance. It hooked me from the beginning and I didn’t want it to end. It was an extra spicy, gripping, thrilling and gory rollercoaster. The lies and the betrayal had me on the edge of my seat, my jaw was on the floor with the craziness in this story. I mean even now I’m still in shock! I devour everything that Lilith writes, she has a way with words that my fucked up, dark heart loves. I am OBSESSED with the Serpent aka Vincent. I mean holy smokes that man is a god!!!! His dirty talk and possessive had me like a bitch in heat. Morrigan is a queen. I mean she went through hell and back, being sold by her family, forced into marriage with an abusive psycho who didn’t deserve her. She was the queen of revenge. She also has the bestest friendship with Lulu, I mean they run a sex club together!!! Bloody brilliant. The side characters were all amazing, I would LOVE a story on Madds and Lulu as their sexual tension was off the charts! Everything about this was AMAZING!!! I’m honoured to have been an arc reader for Lilith, I loved this story so much!
DNF@22% Wait what? Nikki just DNFed a book??? Yep, that's right folks, I did THAT *slow applause* If you know me, you know that I don't like to DNF books and usually push myself to read it even if I don't like it much. I honestly can't even remember the last time I DNFed a book lmao. But this one deserved it. The blurb says that it's a second chance mafia romance but it sure as hell did not feel like it. Where was the angst? Where were the memories? Where was the fucking tension?!?!? I was bored right from beginning so I don't know how I even managed to read 22% of it. The plot and flow of the story was haywire and didn't make sense. Punctuation was weird and the overuse of exclamation marks made everything feel exaggerated. Didn't like it and prolly won't read it again😬
- it’s really…. Wordy. I don’t actually understand what going on. And 90 pages in I don’t really care anymore either…. - she doesn’t care that he might be with someone in her sex club…? Not really the response I wanna be hearing about between the MCs - I don’t like reading sexual encounters if they’re not the person they end up with. So reading about the FMC getting off by a random stranger in a sex club is a no for me - I don’t like the writing. It’s not effortless like others. I have to read things twice to understand what’s going on. I never know what the setting of the scene is. Or when the scene ends and moves to somewhere else. I also don’t know what’s going on in terms of plot. WHAT IS SHE DOINF - why is every other scene them at dinner with everyone??? What is going on. Why is the serpent at a dinner right now with her family??? - isn’t this supposed to be a second chance romance? Where’s the evidence of that??? - why is there a connection between madds and her??? Why is it better than anything with Vincent??? - ok so it was Vincent with her earlier but the guy they were watching was carter??? - she STABBED him 6 months earlier and what? Why? Why is there so much missing - ummmm… so the MMC and her best friend just watch as Ryan ABUSES her???? - why is their past so glossed over??? - wtf. There’s sexual tension with Maddox??? She wishes they had sex??? Are we going to get more info about when and why and how they shared this dirty dancing moment in the past??? This is what I mean. Where’s the explanation for the past? - ok finally SOME explanation. But it’s too little too late. - does Vincent know that she almost fucked the best friend he was trying to save by breaking her heart?? Does he know she in the present thought about it?? - great so Vincent knows about Maddox. I’m fairly sure after that fantasy she had an orgasm too, there’s gonna be a threesome scene. Why didn’t any reviews mention this??? - huh. Madds and lulu? - no. See I was right about the threesome. And I hated it. Like what was the point of it????and now I definitely don’t want lulu and madds to happen - I’m still pissed about the threesome. - honestly I hated every minute of this. None of it made sense to me. I didn’t believe the romance AT ALL. I don’t even get the point of making if second chance. I don’t get the point of adding a threesome. I didn’t like the characters. It was hard to follow what was going on. LONG sections of just inner monologue which were frankly boring and didn’t feel relevant

Lilith Roman does not come to play when it comes to writing an incredible romance with a lethal MMC and fiery heroine. Our FMC Morrigan is bound by the chains of her father and fiancé’s control, and when the shackles begin to tighten she’s left with no choice but to make a deal with the man from her past, Vincent “the serpent” Sinclair. Vincent is a powerful member in the underworld sanction, and when Morrigan comes to him with a deal, he accepts with intent on rekindling the love lost to their past.
Everything about Morrigan and Vincent’s story is so intricately written and thoroughly thought out. Their chemistry is a fire that can’t be diminished and as the story develops, we get to see Morrigan’s confidence and growth flourish as well. I loved the author’s take on The Deal with the Devil at the Crossroads legend. The mention of the crossroads and the story of eve and the serpent from Eden blend in seamlessly throughout the story. This was my first book from the author and nothing about this story was short from incredible
Again, I'd like to thank Lilith Roman for this Advance Reader Copy of Reckless Covenant.
This new re-edited version of Reckless Covenant struck every one of my emotions.
LR kicks us off with a bang of a Prologue introducing us to the boys, Madds and Vin. It leaves you trying to place connections and who's who from 8 years ago as soon as the first chapter hits. We're graced with dual POV from Morrigan O'Rourke and our grumpy, grumpy bad boy, Vincent "The Serpent" Sinclair.
We slowly watch as the woman Morrigan (Morri for her friends) used to be, begins to break from the gaslighting, body shaming, and emotional abuse from her boyfriend, Ryan. We watch the unmistakable tension between her and The Serpent when they cross paths, catching glimpses of the true fire that lives inside of Morrigan, just waiting to find its home.
Quickly though, we find sweet Morrigan has a past of her own; that fire has found its way out more than once. She's saved by Vincent early on, sparking their connection at a young age. Then reconnected later on, and now he's in her family's house - starting business deals with her father and boyfriend.
Anyway! Before I wreck this with spoilers, I felt like this story was quite immersive. Within a few chapters, I was emotionally invested. I wanted so badly to see Morri come back from this abuse. The way that LR handled this story was incredible. I never say that mafia romance is my favorite genre, but this might be my favorite mafia romance to date.
AND THE NEW ENDING. SWOON. I CANT WAIT FOR BOOK THREE.
Reckless Covenant by Lilith Roman was a seductive and dark organized crime romance with heartaching second chance feels. Morrigan is an absolutely amazing heroine with her fierce and sassy personality and Vincent is the exactly the kind of antihero fit for her.
Morrigan O'Rourke is slowly working to get out of her father's control. Setting up an exclusive fetish club with her best friend..getting her own secret place. But the timeline has sped up because he father has announced the surprise engagement to Ryan Holt, his business associate and the man she once liked enough. But Ryan is now an evil person. Her path crosses with Vincent "the serpent" Sinclair. A dangerous and powerful man and part of The Sanctum, the organisation that rules their town. She has to make a deal with the devil and their past is a complex factor here.
I loved Morrigan. She is a complete bada## and she is fighting hard even when the odds are stacked against her. She is so brave and fierce and she can make any man tremble in fear. But she is trapped. Ryan is holding something valuable over her head and she doesn't know how to take down that corrupt evil disgusting man. That's where Vincent and the Sanctum comes in. I loved Vincent with his dark, brooding and edgy vibe. They have a tragic history and it seems their connection really did not disappear. He went overboard to save her and we all love a protective alpha hero. I just feel the story was a bit slow. A lot was happening and I was missing the main connection between Vincent and Morrigan among all the chaos. Ryan took up a significant part of the story and that distracted me a lot.
OMG! I haven’t been able to calm down my rapidly beating heart or my erratic breathing since finishing this incredible story! It was an exhilarating rollercoaster ride of violence, corruption, depravity, grittiness, and deliciously titillating moments. I was instantly hooked, utterly captivated and continually on the edge of my seat the whole way through.
Vincent and Morrigan were the ultimate power players in this deviously twisted story. Vincent was the darkness to Morrigan’s light but when they combine their strengths there was no stopping the destruction and vengeance they will both seek. Their connection was undeniable and unbreakable no matter how long they’ve been apart. And their chemistry just oozed off the pages and melted my heart and my panties. Together they were perfect in all their imperfections.
This story was brilliantly written with such incredible but damaged characters who you can’t help but love, and with a storyline that was addictive, dark, emotionally raw, bloody and utterly thrilling. There were many WTF moments that kept my jaw dropping throughout, plus many incredibly steamy moments that had me gasping for breath.
All in all, this was a phenomenal dark and delicious mafia second chance romance that I crave more of!
When I received this book and started to read, but mostly, when I saw there were some elements with BDSM in there, I confess that I was afraid (I am not a huge fan of the theme kkk). But this book it’s so easy to read and captivating that I didn't even see the things and time passing. The narrative start with Morrigan, a girl which always pretend to be perfect: a perfect life, a perfect family, a perfect boyfriend. To show the world nothing less than that. However, her hate all this. She tries to escape in little things- your club, tha small changes, your thoughts. But this it’s not in off, mostly when she finds herself trapped in a forced marriage. Trying to escape, she makes a deal with the devil- Vincent ‘The Serpent’. Knowing like the guy whom everyone was afraid, both of them fall in a attraction and the obsession of him finds no limits to save her. With discouvers and developments, the story are built and that’s a good story too. I have to say one thing: OMG, what’s that scene between Madds, Vincent and Mori? I loved it so much. Plus, i really enjoyed that story (and i wanted more, absolutely).
A second chance mafia romance with dark elements and some angst. I really enjoyed this book, it was a little slow in the beginning however as you went on more details and plot started to unravel along with some spice. This book features an emotionally/mentally abusive boyfriend that she is trying to escape and an old lover who broke her heart. Throughout the book it’s crazy seeing the shift in the personality of Morrigan between when she’s with Holt vs The Serpent. I LOVE when she’s with The Serpent because she’s this empowering fire that won’t take crap, but when she’s with Holt she’s a belittled obedient and sad woman which is the heartbreaking to read. I do also love the undertones that hint towards Eve and the Serpent in Eden, I think that’s a cool play on the two of them. I also love how there’s a soul deep connection that is mentioned as well, I don’t want to get too into it so the story isn’t ruined but this is a solid 4 stars for me. Also, I personally don’t feel the book is too dark compared to others I have read, but it’s very important to always read warnings. I hope you enjoy the ride like I did.
What a firecracker Morrigan O'Rourke is. I'm a huge fan of strong FMC's, and Roman did a spectacular job writing this character. Paired with the dark and dangerous Vincent "The Serpent" Sinclair, these two are fierce and passionate. A second-chance romance that held me from the start and kept me interested throughout.
Reckless Covenant - It's a Second Chance Mafia Romance story, dark, full of emotion.
In this story we meet Morrigan O'Rourke, a woman with flaming hair and a temper, willing to build her business and move on away from her family and everyone who is not welcome, plus what she didn't expect would be stuck in a web of illicit business and trapped in an abusive relationship full of secrets. Willing to conquer her freedom and everyone who crosses her path, she finds herself in one of the worst nightmares her life has taken, leading to having to make a pact with the Devil or rather Serpent. Vincent "The Serpent" Sinclair is a man who has his life and business with the underworld and is respected by all along with the rest of his Sanctum brothers, he eludes the darkness in order to achieve his goals with an iron fist. But fate again crosses her path with de Morrigan causing a twist and some buried secrets come to light, making her reconnect with Serpent, bringing to the surface a glimpse of the true fire that lives inside Morrigan in order to find her place.
Vincent and Morrigan's connection becomes explosive, causing them to learn to trust each other in order to obtain from everyone who has caused their destruction and disagrees with their revenge and freedom.
This book was definitely the best mafia read I had the pleasure of reading from this author that I love and admire so much, the plot and construction of this story were definitely my favorite things, and of course the chemistry between the characters and the way they developed was epic. This story was an amazing experience and I highly recommend it!!
The serpent had his Eve but he forced her away, for her own good. It's now 8 years later and their paths have properly crossed once again, she needs help and he's the only one who can truly do it. 8 years means they've both moved on and no longer have lustful feelings towards each other, right?
I thought book one of this series was a total rollercoaster but this one blew that out of the water. The amount of underlying deception and twists and turns and everyone's working with everyone who hates everyone else, it really was a thick plot I had to keep focus on. But the main story was Vincent and Morrigan, The Serpent and Eve. The perfect story of a second chance at a romance that never got it's chance the first time around, despite how much they both craved it. I'm so glad Morrigan fought to be herself again, it was kind of a full circle moment that her journey with Ryan both started and ended with an unaliving, both parties deserving their fate. Vincent finally getting the girl he's had his eye on for as long as he can remember, even though he never truly left her, he just watched from afar to be sure she was safe.
The spice, I can't not love the spice and the cheeky little threesome in there? I was such a fan, would've been happy for that to be a thing but I'm hoping Maddox will have his own time to shine.
I'm super excited for Finnegan to have his story, my heart broke for him before so I'm hoping his journey fixes both our hearts.
Lilith Roman is a new to me author, and I'm drawn to her dark writing so I'll definitely be checking out more of her work. Morrigan is the type of heroine that I seriously love as she's not about to let her father force her to be something she's not, and let me tell you, he's not the only one trying to keep her in a box, nope, it's their whole world who do their best to keep woman down. I loved the fact that she's not going to stay in the box so she's become a force to be reckoned with. Vincent is the man who is perfect for her despite their past but it's going to be a wild ride for him to actually make her his. This story was definitely dark & edgy which made me super happy because it's also very original, however, I did have a slight issue. See, I got confused more than once which made me feel that I was missing something somewhere as it made it hard at times for me to become fully immersed but please understand that's just me. I will reread it again to see if it was me who missed something somewhere so I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
A second chance mafia romance inspired by the Deal with the Devil at the Crossroads legend....let's be real here...I was never going to let that pass me by. Especially written by Lilith Roman. An author I've recently found but so far I'm absolutely digging what she's giving me so far.
Morrigan wants out from under her family, their money, power, influences and the man they've set her up with. She's not just sitting around waiting for that moment. She's trapped but she's still fighting her way through it. But sometimes you have to make a deal with the devil to make things happen..and speaking of devils..Let's talk about Vincent. He's big, broody and the head of the Sanctum. He's as scary as they come...but he loves him some Morrigan and not afraid to let her shine. AND WE LOVE THAT AROUND HERE.
Side note...I wouldn't mind if Morrigan's best friend Lulu got her own story. I'm not saying, I'm just saying..I would read it.
This is my first book by Lilith and it also just happens to also be her first mafia! And damn she did an amazing job!!! I fell in love with not only her writing but also her character hands down Maddox is my favorite! But I also love Morrigan and Vincent ! This story had so many twist and turns that your head was on an axis !! I loved everyminute of it . But do check trigger warnings!
This book was so so good, i’m so glad that I could get an arc of it! Between the hate that I have for her “boyfriend” and my love for Vincent a.k.a. serpent, the chemistry between them was amazing. I think it only took me about three hours to read this and I didn’t wanna finish I wish there was more to their story. I was so happy with the ending, screw her family.
This is a second chance mafia romance and Lilith has done a fantastic job with her first foray into this genre.
We have 2 MC's who are strong in their own right but also have that vulnerable side which makes their characters easier to believe in.
Morrigan and the Serpent have a history which ended badly, and when the opportunity arises when he can help her to break free from her family and boyfriend's clutches and cause some chaos on the way then the story gets rolling.
I loved the friendships and brotherhood that we got glimpses of and the bdsm elements were extra goodness added into the book.
I do wish we got some flashbacks as I find with second chance I need that to really feel the connection between the characters.
There were many layers to this story and if you are a fan of descriptive and lyrical writing then you should pick this one up.
I absolutely loved this book. Lilith has such a way with words that always leaves me speechless and in awe , this book was no exception.
In this story we get to meet Morrigan and Vincent , this is a dark , second chance, mafia romance. Their story was amazing, and so complex , it constantly kept me intrigued and wanting more. Their connection and the tension between these two was phenomenal, and to be fair one of my favourite thing in the whole book. The way Vincent let Morrigan shine on her own , and the way he let her make her own decisions, without pressuring her was very well defined, and I really liked that. After Morrigan went through some really bad things , seeing Vincent support her throughout was great. As their connection was so intense, the freaking spicy scenes were so damn good 😮💨😮💨.
This book contains several triggers. Be sure to check TW/CW.
This hit the spot! It’s a dark, mafia, second chance story based loosely on Eve making a deal with the devil (the serpent). It was a little confusing in the beginning. But I just went with it and eventually the answers were revealed. It was a great read and I enjoyed the ride!
✨ Reckless Covenant Review ✨ Part of the Twisted Legends collection - A Second Chance Mafia Romance inspired by the Deal with the Devil at the Crossroads legend.
My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice: 🌶🌶🌶 Please check TWs.
I’m not sure what it is about the Twisted Legends collection but these stories are just 🖤🔥 - dark and hot and bring so many emotions out of me & Reckless Covenant was no different!
Morrigan our FMC is strong, capable, and has such a big heart. That really shows throughout her story - she faces her families betrayal, a broken heart, and so much more.
Vincent 🥵 just so happens to be my new book boyfriend - so I’m not sure if I should tell you much about him… just know he loves his mama, has a dirty dirty mouth, and would do anything for the woman he loves.
This story was just executed perfectly 👏🏻 Tropes - so good! Side characters - amazing! Twists and turns - 🤯
I love how the authors words and descriptions brought the details of this story to life, picturing these scenes in my mind really helped me connect with the characters.
I was given this book by @thesmuthood. Read it today via KU.
*dark mafia romance *second chance *slow burn *super hot
I thought it was about time I read something by Lilith. I’ve seen her book My Kind of Monster everywhere so when Amy @booknerd told me her most recently release was mafia I had to read it. You know I love mafia romance.
I finished it last night. I read it pretty fast. It definitely captivated me while reading it. I couldn’t put it down. At the end I was left in a slump lol.
Little about the book -
Vincent and his 3 friends are organised crime leaders. They came from nothing and built a empire together. Morrigan comes from a rich family, they are controlling.
Morrigan and Vincent have a past. Over a period of years they keep their distance from each other. Both left hurt in there own ways. They end up in each other paths again. From that point there relationship is pretty explosive. Without giving anything away….
The plot is very heavy, lots of detail and many corrupt men just wanting to use Morrigan. It’s violent, bloody and my favourite type of mafia romance. Only thing missing for me was Morrigan and Vincent's past. There was only a small amount of detail. Would of been good to have some flashbacks or past chapters on how they meet, and actually what happens between them.
This is another book with amazing side characters. I pray Lilith gives them a book each. I have my theories of them and who they will be with lol. I really hope she writes them.
5/5✨ 3/3🔥 “𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐢𝐧… 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐚 𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐫. 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐥 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐞.” Another amazing book from Lilith Roman! I absolutely loved this one yall. In true Lilith fashion, she gives us a badass, strong FMC who happens to be in a situation she cannot get out of on her own. Insert Vincent Sinclair aka “The Serpent” who she makes a deal with to help her get out of the situation she’s in. Vincent and Morrigan have a past and haven’t been around each other in years. That has now changed since she has enlisted his help to help get away from her dad and sociopathic fiancé. While he’s helping her, he is trying to rekindle their past flame. And their chemistry is off the charts yall! This book had it all. Suspense. Angst. Strong friendships. Secrets and lies. Twists and turns. Slow burn while also being super sexy. I highly recommend checking this one out yall! Read this if you like: - Dark Mafia Romance - Second Chance Romance - A Bit Of Voyeurisim - Strong FMC - Touch Her & Die Vibes - Slow Burn
