A disgraced, but cheerful, ex-cop facing an unexpected career change and a serious, video game loving, drummer with a secret or two. The only thing they have in common is a mutual dislike... Or is it?

Friends' attempts to bring them together end with seemingly disastrous results. Will vandalism and ill-conceived revenge plans work to repair the animosity between them? Or are they doomed to be enemies while their friends try to make them fall in love?

Grumpy grandpas, inappropriate grannies, quirky friends, rock stars, and pen!s graffiti abound in this journey to love for two very different people from remarkably similar backgrounds. It stands alone, and has a happily ever after to keep your heart pumping.

TW: includes mild mentions of domestic violence, child abuse, and alcoholism. 18+

I’m a Canadian spicy rom-com author, lifelong book lover, coffee addict, and nap aficionado who’s lived in four provinces (BC, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and my current home, Alberta). My writing journey started just five years ago, and my debut novel, Second Chance, was the first book I had the courage to publish. You can grab it for free at your favourite digital retailer!

My passion lies in writing spicy, feel-good romantic comedies filled with swoon-worthy cinnamon roll heroes and strong, relatable female heroines, with the odd cameo from other characters in the same world. I want my books to make you swoon, sigh, and laugh until you cry (and maybe pee your pants a little).

Will his fears keep him running away …

Like many I do believe, when I scroll down for a new book to read, it is oft a cover which slow me down and have a closer look. And of course the blurb do the rest.
I quite like when the characters are older than the usual mid-twenties/early thirties, they have a past, they are more thoughtful, less impulsive.
Well, easier said than done.

I loved the characters, each coping with their own history their very personal way.
Rhea has been rescued from an uncaring mother by a cop, and since she has always wanted to be one. But now her dream has come to a stop, being no more one and she must find a new occupation, it is time for a change.
Aiden spent his adult life feeling guilty about his genetic material, refusing any relationship by fear of becoming his sire’s abusive twin. So while he appears to be the reasonable one in their rock stars group, it is only because he always ran away from any entanglement.
So the one time a woman checks all the boxes, he knows nothing else than to flee like a pocket dog its tail between its legs, too scared to face her, so much he turns right into a man he might not like if he were to see himself into a mirror. Still, he is no bad man, only one at loss when what he tried to avoid his whole adult life knocks at his door.

So together they are in for quite a switchback journey, with laughs, steam, angst and glittery stinky projectiles.

The side characters are all hilarious from Aiden and Rhea’s friends to the irreverent full of mischiefs grannies. This bunch of merry people is so supportive of them, they are in when things spiral down, stepping in when needed … or not.

These rock stars are really special. So completely atypical. I'm not even sure if Aiden ever heard about $ex, drug$, and rock 'n roll 🤣
But he had a shit childhood. A really shitty one. That's why he volunteers at a women's shelter. He is such a wonderful guy 🩷 But he's still stuck in his past, even 20 years later 😟 Do I fully understand him? No! But that's not for me to do 🙈 As long as Rhea does 😁

The chemistry between them is 💥 Just WOW. Lust at first sight in the fullest 😲 But with Aiden's celibacy... 🙈 And when his 🍆 starts to talk to him... 🤣🤣🤣

Rhea is a strong woman. She had a shitty childhood too. But I think it made her even stronger.

This book has a lot of domestic violence rep. Nothing graphical.

And again we have Gran and Gladys. And they got an addition. So they are THREE now 🙈 OMG... Yes, The T*tty Club is stronger than ever 🤣 And I don't even know where to start or where to end with all of the things they did this time. But honestly, I want to be a member when I'm in my 80th, or maybe they will let me join when I'm at least a bit younger? 70th? Oh please 😁 Gladys and her wanting to see 🍆 🙈 First Ryan's and now Aiden's... 😎 I don't know if she will ever see one of the band members 🍆 At least she doesn't want to see them anymore when they are taken. The men, not just the 🍆 🤣
I hope they will appear in the next books too. I'm not ready to say goodbye to them yet 🙈

Taking a Chance . . .

Aiden has always been afraid of becoming someone he does not want to be. To protect himself, he avoids confrontation, afraid to trust in his own inherent goodness. Rhea had a job she thought she wanted. But she has to find another now.

He knows that she is right for him. But how will these two ever get together? Can their well-meaning friends and family step in and help them find their happiness? Or will they just tangle things up in their attempts to be helpful? Rhea is the one for him, he knows it. But why is he afraid?

Well written story. Interesting plot and characters. Complex relationships among characters and lots of emotions. Good reality and background that adds to the story line.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
