Christopher Dock: Pioneer Christian Schoolmaster on the Skippack

Rate this book
Christopher Dock, a Colonial schoolmaster and devoted Christian, loved his students. As he taught the "3 R's," he strove to build character and to win children's wills so that they would want to obey. He pointed them toward Christ by word and example. His methods of teaching, motivation, and discipline were very practical and effective. Dock realized his insufficiency, and at the end of each day, he knelt at his desk and prayed for each student by name.

Teachers will find inspiration, encouragement, and practical help in this brief biography and collection of Dock's writings, which include Schulordnung ("School Management"), a letter to his pupils, rules of conduct for children, Christian rules for children, and several hymns.
