Falling in love with Gil was never Sophie’s plan, but the French mountain air, the grumpiest llama ever and her boyfriend’s loving—if liberated— family might just change her mind.

Sophie Smith—actress, influencer, in a close personal relationship with her blender— finds herself on a French mountain with a grumpy llama, a boyfriend with a bad case of commitment phobia and his sexually liberated parents.

In between getting chased around the farm by angry goats, dealing with his beautiful ex-girlfriend and fending off a Frenchman, she’s also having an existential crisis.

All she needs to do is get her boyfriend to stop quivering in fear at the L word, teach that llama to snuggle and work out what she actually wants to do with her life, then everything will be fine. Right?

oh my the drama😳 rating 4 stars but personally feel like it’s a 3.7 maybe. so much can happen on a trip and it seems like sophie really went thru it all on this trip and especially when she got back home. ending was very emotional and dramatic and set up very nicely for a sequel.

✨✨✨✨✨3.85✨✨✨✨✨

I will be honest and say that the beginning was rough. Gil, Sophie's co-star and love interest, was way too perfect and Sophie's inner monologue was annoying and consisted almost entirely of unholy thoughts about his body.

Make me your whore, G.
I really need to work on my thirst for this man

You really do, Sophie. Having to read about how perfect Gil was and being treated to her constant thirsting after his body made me want to smack her upside the head.

So yes, it was a rocky start but it really does get better.

Sophie as a character was pretty shallow at first glance. As a child star who grew up with fame, she became the darling of Hollywood and social media by her early twenties.

There aren’t many facets to Sophie Smith—minor league child actress, a few film roles, nothing to write home about. Then I got my big break at fourteen and never looked back. Hit after hit came my way—movies, a TV series that had the most dedicated fanbase ever and all the followers a girl could dream of on Insta. You can buy figurines of me, too, those ones with the big head. I’m a household name around the world and yet all I’ve ever known is this—acting, promo, then acting again. This is me…a pretty basic bitch.

With Gil at her side, she goes with him to his rural family farm in the South of France after she decides that she needs a break from acting to find her real self. It's too much fame, her movie's too big of a hit and her face is plastered all over newspapers and magazines everywhere. I know, being famous is hard, right? Well, yes, actually it is. We get to see Sophie's struggles behind the scene as she deals with conflicts that a lot of real life celebrities no doubt have to face. People know them and oftentimes feel like they're entitled to meeting or seeing or touching them and you see how Sophie, as a female celebrity, is treated and how painful it can be for her. And that cast fame in a different light, a darker one than what appears in the spotlight. You also begin to feel for Sophie, who was pushed into acting as a child and left to be raised by paid guardians, since her parents gave her no attention. You see the kind of inner strength that it takes to walk away from that kind of lifestyle and achieve a different kind of success.

While Sophie and Gil did go back and forth in their relationship so much that it had me dizzy, I appreciate the fact that they openly talked about their feelings and communicated with each other about their hopes and frustrations with their relationship. Gil's problem with commitment also made sense as his character developed and I like that they both recognized that they needed professional help to deal with their issues before they could be together. Taking that step back to sort out your own problems in your life and having the courage to go to therapy is something you don't see a lot in contemporary romances and is an aspect of relationships and mental/emotional health that you should see. Like I said earlier, I found myself liking Sophie as she discovers who she, as a person, not she as a film star, wants in life. Seeing her take the steps toward making her dreams a realization was inspiring and her relationship with Gil brought this to a happy ending.

Wow! This book brought so many emotions out of me. I was rooting for Sophie and G the whole time from the very beginning. G seemed like such a gentlemen and thinker while Sophie seemed like a shy girl in the beginning, but then I realized that she had been a major Hollywood actress since she was a little girl. I was so happy when they got together and went to France but that's where all their troubles started to come to light. I was really frustrated with G and what he did. I was also mad and a little sad when they broke up, even though they were trying to work on themselves so they would have a better relationship in the future. The way the story ended made me want to keep reading to find out what happens after that. I really hope we get to read more about Sophie and G in the future. This was such a good, steamy but emotional read! I received a review copy of this story and am leaving a voluntary honest review.

(UN)Loved (Mixed Emotions Series) by Katy Hunter. This is such a fun romantic comedy read. Its the story of Gil an actor and Sophie an actress. They have been friends forever but when they find out they are both attracted to one another they decide to take it to the next level. When they decide to go to France together to meet Gil's family the craziness begins. Sophie is a complete city girl but when she lands on the French farm of Gil's parents she has to become a farm girl quickly. When Gil's gorgeous ex girlfriend shows up it brings all of Sophie's insecurities to the surface. Sophie is crazy about Gil but he's very afraid of commitment. When a handsome Frenchman starts to hit on Sophie she is torn. Throw in a crazy Llama and you have a romantic comedy like no other. I can't wait to read the next book to find out if Gil and Sophie make it!

This is a fun romance story that I found to be entertaining from start to finish. This is quite an easy book to read. I connected with the straight away and enjoyed getting to know Sophie. For me she was the most relatable character in the book but the author has done a great job of reading some interesting secondary characters. This is a new author for me and I definitely enjoyed her writing style. It had everything I hope for in a romance story and I can't wait to discover more of her work.

Let me preface this by saying I am not a romance reader. Paranormal romance yes, reverse harem, yes, and fantasy romance also yes. But straight romance is TYPICALLY not my thing.

However, this was absolutely adorable. You could really feel Sophie and Guillaume's emotions through the way of the writing. Also, G’s family? Oh my goodness could they be any more adorable?

I read this all in one sitting within a couple of hours. I truly enjoyed this. It was fun and all-around a great time.

This was a first time author for me, and certainly shall not be my last. I loved this author's way of engaging the reader and writing. I found the book itself light and funny. And it certainly had a lot of heart that was for sure enjoyable. It was a fun read that made me smile, well, a lot!

As I have said I loved how the story flowed, and the way one thing led to the next. The characters were adorable as well. Both Sophie and Gil had their own cuteness within them. I enjoyed watching them interreact together. The characters outside their relationship greatly contributed as well! Love when you got a good strong team outside the book's main center of the couple. I enjoyed seeing what would happen next after something occurred. The book was a fast read for me, things led to another rather quickly, and I could not put this down as wondering really where Sophie and Gil would end up! Enjoyed this story very much, and I felt happy feelings as I read. Loved it!

Wonderful book, and I officially have a new author that I need and can stalk haha. I loved how the story came together and the author's writing really made this story come to life I really highly recommend reading this cute and fun story! As well as highly recommending this wonderful author!

What happens when you meet the love of your life but your life isn't where it needs to be? That is what happens with the main characters of this book. They are amazing and their lives are going where they want them to but is that enough? Does what they're doing now affect what they want in the future? Can they work things out to get what they are wanting? These are the questions that I was constantly asking myself during this book. The characters have growth that you won't see coming. There are is many bumps and bruises that they get along the way. This book had me crying, cursing, ranting, and swooning. I feel like I went on an emotional roller coaster. I wanted it to end then didn't want it to end. I feel like I got whiplash with how things were constantly changing in this story. It almost gave me a book hangover. Not a lot of books can do that but this one did and the makes it a 5 star read. It is a witty, fun, romantic, steamy, soul crushing adventurous book. It constantly makes you wonder, is love enough. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking to be emotionally abused. Just kidding, kind of. It is a great read and you want be disappointed while reading it.

Sophie has it all. She is considered pretty, she is an actor, she’s rich and famous. The only thing missing in her life is love. Even growing up, love was limited. Being on her own since the age of only 14 years old, does she even know how to love?

Gil, Sophie’s co-star in her latest movie, quickly becomes a constant in Sophie’s life. Spending all their time on set and even off set will do that. What started out as friendship quickly turned into a relationship. After the movie was finished being filmed, Sophie went to Gil’s family farm in France. City girl had to become a country girl overnight.

As time goes on, Sophie realizes that Gil has huge commitment issues which causes a lot of strain in their relationship and in her self confidence. Her self confidence is low as it is.

This book was really realistic, which is a breath of fresh air. I find a lot of times books in the romance genre are very unrealistic on how humans actually feel and socialize. The author took two people with their own flaws and built on that. Growing each character into their own person. The relationship is actually slowly growing instead of all at once like most romance.

This is the first book in a new series by an author that is new to me. The cover and the blurb both appealed to me, so I decided to give this book, and the author, a try. I now have a new author to add to my ‘I will read again’ pile as I really enjoyed this book.
Gil (G) and Sophie (Shee) are both characters that I really liked, although I did want to slap G a few times. They are well written and their antics kept me engaged and entertained throughout the book. The book can be a little angsty at times as Sophie is unsure of Gil’s feelings towards her. But who doesn’t love a little angst?
For me, I enjoyed this book most when at Gil’s parent’s home in France. I really enjoyed the camaraderie between Gil and his siblings and parents and also how they welcomed Sophie into their family and treated her like one of them. At this point you see a very different side to Sophie compared to how you would think a millionaire actress would behave. She just wants to feel part of a family as she was never close to her own. It’s a very enlightening time for Sophie and I really enjoyed reading about this.
Definitely recommend this book.

(Un)Loved (Mixed Emotions #1) by Katy Hunter

This is the first book I've read by the author. (Un)Loved is a great book and it was hard to put it down. This is the first book in the Mixed Emotions Series.

Sophie is an actress and has been doing it since she was fourteen. She doesn't know anything else, but acting. Getting tired of it she wants to take a break, but doesn't think she can. The quote I chose for Sophie is: “I do. I need time to think about what being here with you means, and we need to just talk, you know. I’m going to be gone in a couple of days. I can’t just do the thing where I let you back in, then it all goes wrong again.”

Guillaume is getting everything he wants in life. He finally asked the girl of his dreams out. Now he's invited her to his family's farm. The quote I chose for Guillaume is: “Shee, it’s not that you’re not organized or that you haven’t got your shit together. It’s that you have different priorities than me. You’ve been so focused on being an actor that it’s all you know how to do. Which is great, because you are one amazing actor.”

Highly recommended for New Adult Romance lovers.

I liked it but I was confused at the beginning, to the point I almost started over. Instead I kept reading (Un)loved. About two people who love each other but are so broken they can’t be together.
It’s sad and happy all at the same time. The author makes you feel for the two main characters.
Sophie and Gil are actors just finishing up a movie they filmed together. A film that made them both of them broke the number #1 rule. “Don’t fall in love with your co-star.” The love they have for one another is fierce, but both characters are emotionally broken which leads to a toxic relationship.
It’s all about navigating how they feel for one another while trying to figure out who they are as individuals.
Do they end up together?
What choices about life does each character make?
These are just some questions that come to mind while reading this book. Of course if you’re like me, you will be rooting for them, unfortunately their situation doesn’t make a relationship easy, if successful at all.
If you like getting involved with the character’s feeling like you're in the story with them, I suggest you give this book a shot. Since that’s exactly how it makes one feel.

Ever meet that person you could really see yourself in a relationship with, but it is just horrible timing? For Sophie and Guillaume that certainly seems to be the case. The two fight their attraction while wanting more since they are working together. Needing a break, Sophie travels with Guillaume to his family’s home. Will Sophie find the break she is looking for? Will Sophie and Guillaume act on there feelings toward each other?

This is the first book by Katy Hunter that I have read. While I had a hard time emerging myself into the story in the beginning, that quickly changed and I enjoyed the book. The characters were relatable; there were times you want to laugh with them, cry with them, even shake some sense into them. What more could you ask for? I look forward to reading more by Hunter and would recommend reading this book.

This was a good 5 star read.
This was my first read from this author and I really enjoyed it.
Sophie and G are an on screen couple that are dealing with some off screen attraction as well. G invites Sophie to go home to France with him to his family farm and she takes him up on his offer. Having been an actress from a very young age this could be the break that she desperately needs. Needless to say that there are things that come up that cause some drama as Sophie and G work through their feelings. Sophie really likes his family, they were great.

Overall this was a read that had my emotions all over the place with everything these two were dealing with. I did have some LOL moments as well. All of the characters were great. Both Sophie and G grew on me as their story progressed. Learning about Sophie's past really gives a glimpse at what some of these young Hollywood stars deal with. The author did a great job of pulling you in with her writing. I look forward to reading the next book in the series. 1-click and get started today.

This is a fun, lighthearted romance which kept me happily turning the pages. Sophie never planned on falling in love with Gil, but whilst staying with his family and getting some French mountain air, she seems to be changing her mind. Unfortunately for actress and influencer Sophie, Gil has a bad case of commitment phobia. To complicate things further for Sophie, who is having an existential crisis, she also has to fend off a Frenchman and deal with her boyfriends very beautiful ex girlfriend. Oh, and she’s also dealing with a very grumpy llama, and being chased around the farm by angry goats! I found the main characters, Sophie and Gil a little hard to relate to in the beginning of the novel but I grew to love them as the storyline developed. Gil’s loving and liberated family were great and I enjoyed the interactions between them all. The grumpy llama brought humour to the story, as did the angry goats. The French mountain setting came to life through the descriptive narrative and made me feel immersed in the story. Overall, this was an enjoyable and entertaining read.

Sophie is a famous actress who has been in the business since she was a child and her absolute dedication to her work means that she doesn't have much time for personal relationships.
In her latest job, her shooting partner, G (Guillaume), is making things difficult for her when it comes to fighting against the immense attraction she feels for him, especially since they have several intimate scenes.
At the end of the shooting, Soph is tired and wants to make a break in her career and G offers her to go to the farm that his family has in France and she accepts.
There, Sophie meets G's family and falls in love with them and their life there, but both she and G have problems to solve if they want their relationship to work and last.
I loved it, a story with great characters, funny, romantic, a beautiful love story even in the moments when they are separated.

This is the first book in the Mixed Emotions series. I really enjoyed this romance but it was a really emotional ride. The author did a great job at bringing to light the difficulties that both characters had. I really enjoyed how the characters were open and communicated with each other really well about what they needed. I found it refreshing when Gil and Sophie decided to take a break to work on themselves and their problems so they could come back together in a better way. That was really refreshing instead of them staying in what would have become a toxic relationship.

Overall the story flowed nicely and held my attention from beginning to end. I was rooting for them to work through their problems so they could be together. It was also nice seeing Sophie grow and figure out what she truelly wanted in life and then not be afraid to go for it.

I have to be honest and say I wasn't sure about Sophie when I very first started the book but the author soon showed me the error of my ways! that is what a great author does right?
While working on her latest movie Sophie becomes friends with her leading man Guillaume or G as she calls him. Both Sophie and G want more but fight that attraction until the movie finishes. Are they or aren't they together now?? Sophie is in need of a break from all the negative sides of her famous life so G talks her into taking a break by going with him to his family farm in France. That's where the fun really starts! G's family is querky ok, ok they are crazy but totally loveable!! lol Battling Life, Love and all the craziness around them Sophie and G will take you on a rollercoaster ride that's for sure!

(UN)Loved (Mixed Emotions Series) by Katy Hunter

(UN)Loved is the first book in the Mixed Emotions Series. This is a cute romance that pulled me in from the beginning and I had a hard time putting it down. This is a new to me author that I will definitely be checking out what other books she has written. The characters are fun and relatable and the storyline flowed so well I felt like apart of the story. This is a story about Sophie and Gil, both are movie stars and they were leading roles in a movie they just finished filming . Sophie finds herself wanting more but does Gil have commitment issues? These two have crazy chemistry between them on and off the set. Sophie is invited to go with him to France for a visit with his family. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I can’t wait for the next book in this series.

I was gifted an ARC of “(Un)Loved By” (Mixed Emotions Book 1) by Katy Hunter in exchange for my honest review; and here it is. WOW! From the first page to the last you won’t want to put the book down. This story line will take you on an emotional roller-coaster ride. I know it did for me. There were times I was laughing out loud that my family was looking at me like I had gone insane. I really enjoy How both MCs found themselves while still coming back to each other. This is the first time reading a book by the author Katy Hunter, but it will not be the last. I will be waiting for the rest of Mixed Emotions series to come out; can’t wait to read what happens next. I highly recommend reading this book, A absolute must read.

This is a sweet romance story by a new author for me. I enjoyed her writing style and her ability to pull me into the story from the beginning. Her attention to details not only made her story realistic but also made the characters pop. This is a story about Sophie and Gil. She never expected to fall for him but that is not the only thing she has going on for her. Will she find what she wants to do with her life? What will fate have in store for her and Gil? There is alot going on in this story but the author did a great job of keeping my attention. I enjoyed the growth of the characters and their chemistry. They are strong, supportive characters that kept me coming back. I really enjoyed what they brought to the story and I highly recommend this book.

This was a new to me author and fun and inviting cover that drew me in and had me intrigued right away! I had to know what was going to happen inside and I am glad I scooped this sucker up. It was quite the busy read and had a lot of story in it but this author did a fab job of keeping things pretty organized and my attention honed while I read. I liked that things were not always sunshine and roses for the characters like life so often is as it made the book not only relatable but real and believable. I for sure will be back to see what will happen next because I feel like this book was definitely ended in a way more will be coming and I will be definitely checking out this author’s other works soon as well!

Sophie's Adventures . . .

Sophie Smith is an actress who fell in love with Gil who apparently has a problem with commitment. Sophie also has what I hope is a “unique experience” of meeting a grumpy llama in the mountains. (I won’t even try to describe that, but it may have been good experience for her situation at the farm where the angry goats chase her.)

And even the craziness listed above is not the last of it. Will she be able to find the answer to what she wants to do with her life? Will her boyfriend learn that love isn’t a bad thing if you pick the right partner? And can she actually teach that llama to snuggle?

If you can’t guess right now, this is a crazy story line that will probably make you appreciate your slow days.

Sophie and Gil were made for each other. I just couldn't put this book down once I started it. The connection between Sophie and Gil is so obvious from the very beginning of this book. They're so comfortable with each other that it's only natural that the chemistry between them will be so intense too. These two are just so perfect for each other and their nicknames are just the cutest! But, so many obstacles keep getting in their way. It's a journey full of twists and turns where I just wasn't sure what would happen next, but the ending made me want to jump up and down with happiness. This is an incredible book that you won't want to miss and I can't wait to read the next ones in this series.

Gil and Sophie just finished wrapping up their movie. These two have amazing chemistry on and off the set. Sophie is used to being alone and Gil is afraid of commitment. There are a lot of obstacles in the way of these two while trying to see if a relationship is what they want. There are a lot of great characters in this book. I loved Gil's family and even some of the animals. There is good character growth in this story for both Sophie and Gil. Will Sophie decide what she wants to do? Will Gil work out his commitment issues? This story had funny moments, romance, twists and turns and was written in such a way that I was pulled right in. The author kept me entertained throughout the entire story. I enjoyed this author's writing style. I recommend reading this story.

The things we tell ourselves can be a nightmare. Sophia Smith, actress, fell in love with her co-star Gil. Then met up with a grumpy Llama and the air for which comes with the French Mountains. On one family night she met Gil's Parents. Boy, they were something, unlike any parents I have ever met. This author writes that, must read romance with flair. Your emotions will be all over the place, happy, sad, angry and laughter. Her story was a quick read, as in I could not put it down. Where this book ends I am sure the next in the series starts. I am looking forward to reading this series. No Spoilers will be found here!

This was a 3.5 star read for me. I honestly really like the story, and I laughed more than once. It has the potential to be an amazing story I just couldn't get that into it. The writing felt off to me. Not the story itself, but how it was executed. Is it supposed to be diary format? A journal/diary was introduced in the first chapter but it didn't read like journal entries. And the timeline was so off I couldn't tell where one scene ended and one began. Like I said above, I love the story itself and enjoyed the humor of the book. It was just off to me and this would 100% be a 5 star read to me if I could just make more sense of the time and how the scenes are executed. It felt a little rushed to me, may be what I'm trying to say. Either way I did enjoy this book and would read more from this author in the future!

Overall, i enjoyed the premise of the book. Two costars falling in love, both having their own issues to work through while being madly in love, is a cute idea. Them travelling to G's home, with his very unorthodox family, kinda set the uneven pacing for the story. Everything happened very suddenly, with break ups and makes ups happening seemingly at random.

Sophie and Gil are a little tough to relate to at the beginning, and them being open with their issues is nice to see. The timeline for "getting better" just seems wild to me; very not how I would have assumed it happen. I think if the story took place over a longer period, maybe a few years or just more months between events, it would have had a smoother flow.

I love the idea of it being a journal, with the story being told as if written down through memories. The smut scenes were well written and not overdone, with a very real and honest openness to them.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

(UN)Loved (Mixed Emotions Series) by Katy Hunter

4 out of 5 Stars

Sophie and Gil’s love story is beautiful and heart-wrenching. The author does an amazing job of balancing reality and fantasy in this story. This couple faces a variety of challenges to even get close to being near their HEA. Making them work for it, for each other made it more real. I loved this story. I can’t wait for more in this series. I am (not so) secretly hoping that there will be another book dedicated to these two when Gil returns to his job or Sophie encounters some hunky billionaire when she finds the thing she wants to do.
