She must put her faith in a God she doesn’t trust in order to save a man she can never have.
Morgan Caine spent three years in prison for a crime she didn’t commit before being acquitted, but that doesn’t mean she’s innocent. While trying to rebuild her life, she takes a gamble and hacks into a computer network, stumbling across an assassination plot in the process. But despite the possible risks, she refuses to sit back and let a man die, even if he represents everything she’s never had. But Oliver Wright is not the man she thinks he is, and her good deed traps her in a conspiracy that forces her to question everything she’s known to be true and reveals to both of them that they have more in common than they first realized. Now, with time running out, both Morgan and Oliver must decide how much they are willing to sacrifice in order to save each other.
I love the adventure and the fact that this book delves a little deeper into Christianity than some that seem to only mention it very slightly. As a Christian in today’s crazy world , I want to read specifics about how others are dealing with issues and responding in the ways Christ wants us to.
I really enjoyed this first book in this series. I was excited to find this new author to me and enjoyed her writing. The suspense was great! I thought Shawna developed her characters very well. One of my favorite genres is romantic suspense so I enjoyed the read.
This book is well written, keeps your attention and is clean. The concepts of faith and fear and how to handle them are well represented in this exciting, engaging story. I loved Shadow Game and think you will too.
First time read by this author. First time in this genre I was pleasantly surprised about how This book took me from a mystery who done it To inspiration on along the way.
Shadow Game is the first book of the Shadow Alliance series by Shawna Coleing. Morgan Caine spent three years in prison for a computer crime she didn’t commit. Now that she has been exonerated, she is trying to rebuild her life. However, she takes a gamble and hacks into a computer network and stumbles across an assassination plot. Unable to sit back and let a man die, despite the possible risks of exposure, she seeks out the man in question. Oliver Wright is intrigued by this young woman who claims to have found a plot to kill him. As he investigates the plot, they become trapped in a conspiracy with time running out. Now Morgan finds her putting faith into a God she doesn’t trust and discovers what she and Oliver are willing to sacrifice to save both their lives. I was intrigued by a faith based suspense thriller when I picked up Shadow Game. I immediately liked Morgan as a wrongfully convicted woman and yet not so innocent as she has hacking skills. Oliver is a man of faith while the people who work for him are not, which added an element of realism. The story gets to the assassination plot fairly quickly; however, the suspense didn’t really kick in toward the final third of the book. The romance between Morgan and Oliver wasn’t overly done and took a backseat to the assassination plot line. The answer as to who was behind the plot was a surprise and yet, looking back, made a lot of sense. I really liked the realness of Christianity and faith portrayed in the story. Overall, the story was enjoyable. If you enjoy faith based suspense with a small hint of romance, I recommend Shadow Game.
Shadow Game is available in paperback, eBook and audiobook
Non-stop, heart pounding, terrifying story of redemption
I had the feeling my friends Oliver and Morgan were on the other side of a glass wall, and I kept trying to warn them of danger they could not see.
Honest questions of.faith.are asked and.answered-- with no preaching or false piety. We are allowed to.see an honest man doing his best to walk with Jesus, friends who will not accept Him and others who walk alongside this Godly man.
Anyone who enjoys a good suspenseful book will enjoy this winner from Shawna Coleing. I strongly recommend you set aside time to read it because you will not want to put it down until you.finish.the very.last page
Second book by this author I have read. And the first in a series of 4 books. It was a great read, and not only had suspense and of course romance, but a lot of theological content as Morgan struggled to believe in the same God that Oliver did.
One thing I really disliked about the book......I hate, hate, hate "man buns". I hate the look, I hate the phrase. #1 no real man would wear one #2 The Bible clearly indicates men should not have long hair....so come on! Don't make your male character into a sissy by giving him a man bun
This book was really good. What starts as a trip across the ocean and sunken boat turns into a mystery of love and action. Morgan has just gotten out of prison after being framed for a crime she did not do. Then she gets involved with a group and a killer terrorist is after them. There is betrayal, forgiveness and some action.
I was confused as to why Olivier is interested in Morgan while he is married.
I debated but gave this a 5 because the characters were good, the story line unique and well-developed.
Morgan served 3 years in prison for a crime she didn’t commit. Altho a computer geek, as she began her life as a free woman, her friend got her a job as a waitress where she met Oliver, a businessman and a strong Christian.
Working with Oliver, using her hacking skills with permission, they get involved in a life-threatening situation.
The first time reading this author, and not the last! Really enjoyed these - romantic suspense, that has faith elements to the story (which are thought provoking), great character development - realistic flaws and strengths, and baggage to unpack and deal with. Clean and sweet romances, marriage is honoured once the characters come to depend on Christ.
I love how this author has pulled me into the twists and turns! The romantic tension is perfect. She has the ability to keep God center stage and explore the inner-feelings of the chatacters. I love getting to know them. I am half-way through and can't wait to see whats next for my friends!
What a great story! I was completely taken in by the characters, the suspense, the intrigue and romance. I really like how the author pointed the reader to God. This is my first book by this author but definitely not my last.
I like the way the author gave us a little history about the main characters. I found that the story kept my interest and I couldn't put the book down for long. I'd recommend it to.my friends.
The book was entertaining from the beginning and suspense filled even though I suspected Arther from hints from almost the beginning. The romantic development was expected, but that is no
Awesomely totally different storyline. I totally believe in miracles as I have witnessed several myself so this is right up my alley! If you love God, you wont be disappointed!
Christian Romance always seems to veer me away and I'm not sure why I even got this series of books. So glad I did. Still a bit gushy for me but I did think the suspense part. The ending is super sweet and I am looking forward to getting into the next book..
Shawna is a new author for me but I am hooked. I loved the storyline. Some romance but not overdone. Great suspense, danger and some relationships with God. Everything I could want!
The storyline was good, what was wrong with the book in my opinion was how GOD was treated like a vending machine and when they referred to GOD, HE, HIM or CREATOR the Words weren't capitalize. As a Christian book I can't give it a great score.
Adorable story. Like a mix of Mission Impossible, Pretty Woman, and a Hallmark ending. The Christian undertones and actual telling of the Gospel was a very pleasant surprise! Looking forward to more from this author.
I loved the Christian message and the lack of vulgar language. The message sometimes felt forced. The story was good but not deep. Within the first few pages, even before I knew what the problem was, I knew who the surprise bad-guy was. It had a cute love story.
