I thought I hated not fitting in. Turns out I hate having a target on my back even more.
Someone wants me taken out. To accomplish that, they leaked the secret of my magic to all the Packs in the Midwest. Now, almost every Alpha in the region has traveled to my hometown in hopes of convincing me to join their Pack.
And some of them don’t seem to think I should have a choice.
Greyson won’t stand for that—something he makes deadly clear to the other Alphas. What they don’t know is that I’m his long missing mate. But wolves and hunters are enemies, and my hunter magic blocks me from accepting the bond…even though I’m starting to wish I could.
Our incomplete mate bond is a constant drain on Greyson. Its existence puts him in danger—something he stubbornly ignores.
But as risky as our bond is, I have to stay focused on the biggest threat at the moment.
Whoever shared the secret of my powers wants to destroy our Pack. And we’re about to find out how far they’ll go to make that happen.
Fated is the final book in the Pack of Dawn and Destiny urban fantasy trilogy and is part of the Magiford Supernatural City world. It features werewolves, hunters, and fae, and is filled with humor, adventure, and a sweet romance that will have you laughing outloud.
My pen name is K. M. Shea, but my readers—I prefer to call them Champions—call me Kitty.
I love to write funny, clean stories with strong characters. Books like that are among my favorite to read so naturally I love writing stories like that as well. My philosophy is that life is tough, so books should be something that makes you relax and laugh!
I didn't like this one as much as the other Magiford series, honestly. Probably because while I completely adored Hazel and Leila, I didn't like Pip very much. She just wallowed in this melodramatic place for 2.75 books, and it was fucking exhausting.
I also felt like the villain was really, really obvious. Not the reasons - I know I was frustrated in the last book because Aspen's actions made no sense, but it's cool now. That was all revealed in this book, and it makes sense. I like the plot, honestly.
I like the overall arc in the Magiford books: magic is dying out, and it seems to be because each magical species has become isolationist, separating from the others and stagnating. I like it as a story, and I like it as commentary on the world - if we don't get past our separatist tribal bullshit and work together as people, the world will continue to fall apart. I like that it is almost as if the wild magic has a will. Like these people and their bullshit don't deserve the magic they've been gifted with anymore, and so it is withdrawing ... Until some awesome characters try and shake up tradition and prove worthy. And then they find the power there to support them.
So overall, love the series, love the author. Love the world, and all the secondary characters. I just didn't much like Pip, and that was a bit of a downer on this particular trilogy. I think if she would have just fucking gotten out of her own way sooner...as opposed to dragging this out allllllllll the way through the climax of the last book!... I would have liked her much better.
I finished this one a few days ago but wasn't sure quite how to review it. I love the worldbuilding Ms. Shea is doing, tying at least three trilogies together (and I'm hoping there will be more) with this set being about werewolves, which is a favorite trope for me.
I think this is just a case where the execution of the storytelling fell a little flat. I was hoping by the third book Pip and Greyson would actually have a romance, see them dating, etc. but Pip was very wishy-washy, and it felt very repetitive after a while. It just makes me like her character less which affected my overall enjoyment of the story. I also think the villains/motives could have been developed a little better, and I thought Pips character storyline was a tad over the top . I loved Greyson!
I do love the Magiford Supernatural City collections, they're really fun UF and they're all books I will read again and recommend to others.
Another great series from this author. I really liked the werewolf story. You truly are sucked in. Greyson’s character is a big win. He’s so strong, selfless and put together. He cares for everyone else but still has a confidence about himself.
Couple of issues: first, the romance during this book as I told a friend felt like I was on a Ferris wheel. We kept kind of doing the same things, having the same discussions, same level of danger over and over. I would of loved for the author to have had this couple date. I think seeing them actual do some normal things and having some deep discussions would of been so great. Instead it was the same Greyson loves her but she’s not sure over and over. I just wanted more. It could of been perfection. All the elements were there. Lastly, the “bad guy” was weak and I started to skim some. I just felt like three books… could of be summed up in two and the tension and story would of been better. Not as much filler and way more depth.
Sweet Mother Hubbard this book was perfect 😭 I need more urban fantasy in my life. Especially when it’s not creepy 😂 Shea did a wonderful job of showing how love is sacrifice and caring for the one loved. I liked how while both Greyson and Pip were protective of one another, it wasn’t obsessive. • Anyways, beautiful. Simply beautiful
Confession. I am probably going to be in the minority for this one but y'all. I struggled with getting through this book. I really, really wanted to love this book but I just ended up liking it.
I hate to say it, but Pip went right back to being the annoying, frustrating heroine that she was through the majority the first book. However, just like in the first book, towards the end of this one, she started to redeem herself. But it felt like too little, too late for me. I had a hard time getting behind her when she was playing the "woe is me" character. It was depressing and wasn't a good look for her.
And just like in the first book, Greyson is the only thing that kept me reading until the very end. There may or may not have been a few times that I was begging him to break the bond with Pip and move on. But alas. The heart wants what the heart wants. All I can say is the man is a freaking saint.
Other than Pip, there were a few reasons I struggled with this book. The first being, I called who the "bad guy" was before I even finished reading book 2. That whole storyline was a bit weak and kinda came out of nowhere. The second reason I struggled is because of all the repetitiveness throughout the entire series. I got so frustrated reading the same thing over and over and over again. It kinda felt like I was being beat over the head with the various aspects of the story. And finally the romance, or lack there of. Since this was the final book in the series, I was really hoping the romance would be there for the majority of the book. But nope. I feel gypped again.
Like I said, I really wanted to love this book and love this series, but it just fell flat for me. And I know it's just my personal preferences. There's a reason Ms. Shea is so popular and successful. I would recommend her to all my bookish friends who love G rated romances.
I am still loving these two for Pip and Greyson... *dreamy sigh*
I would’ve scored this three stars if it wasn’t for a few big (for me) cons. Bc of said cons I’m scoring it 2 The author & the world are worth a 👀 look stars
Cons
1- The FMC’s self pity, guilt & emotional flatulence. 2- The overly predictable plot. By the middle book 2 I had that book & the next (book 3/this one) mapped out, who the “bad guys” are became obvious, the “mate” bond & the reason the FMC was having issues with the 🐺 wolves duh 🙄. To be fair it’s possible to read a book that has a simplistic or an overly predictable plot & still be entertained by the story. When that’s the case the author has to make the point between A & B highly entertaining. Sadly, in this case the journey wasn’t that interesting. 3- The couple lacked any romantic chemistry. They felt like a frenemies to BFFs relationship. 🤷🏻♀️
This trilogy is Pip & Greyson's story. We briefly meet these two in Court of Midnight and Deception now we get to read their adventures.
Pip Sabre is a hunter bur after her parents died and no other hunters wanted to take her in she was adopted by wolves of the Nothern Lakes Pack. Pip's dating life isn't good as every wolf smells the pheromones that she gives off that make her smell like a pupy.
What bother Pip more is that she feels that she doesn't belong. All her life she has lost people that she has loved so she keeps to the outskirts of the pack.
Greyson had to switch packs because he is one of the most dominant wolves that can lead the pack that is the official reason throughout the series we find out what it really is. The pack is targeted and Pip is in the middle of it. Turns out she has special powers thus being Wolf's Kiss.
I really enjoyed this series the author has created an engaging fun read with great main characters and side characters. Mayor Pearl is the best!
An okay ending to the trilogy, but the one thing that brought down the book A LOT was how frustrating Pip was throughout the whole thing. She irritated me so much and I couldn't really enjoy the story when she got on my nerves with how she acted...
If you want to read something by K.M. Shea (with main characters that actually are great and likable) then I highly recommend Hall of Blood and Mercy and Court of Midnight and Deception . Both series are in the same world as this one and they are hilarious and really amazing. I love when series and characters are interconnected within books, so that's a big plus!
Oh man. I inwardly screamed and teared up and felt ALL the warm fuzzy feelings throughout this book to the very end and can confidently say this is my second Magiford series as of right now! (Hall of Blood and Mercy is still first)
I love Pip and connect with her so so much. Her struggles and longing to belong yet being afraid too hit me deeply, not to mention she and Greyson are just TOO CUTE together and I love their “old couple” dynamic so so much. They’re just so comfortable with each other and so loving without going overboard and I just adore them! Greyson is so sweet and loyal while also protective without being possessive and when he did A CERTAIN ACTION before the climax I almost died in screaming noooo!!!! but also weirdly loved him more for it in just how pure and loving the action was despite it giving me (and Pip) momentary heart attacks!
I love the Pack and Mayor Pearl (even though I’d never want to deal with her, haha) and I was right in the actions of a certain character at the end of United being further explained in this book in what I felt made sense for the characters involved.
I loved this book, and I’m sad my family and I are running out of Magiford books! I’ve been enjoying them so much and will happily reread this series many times over!

Thanks to the thunderstorm that woke me up at midnight (I kid you not), I decided that I might as well get stuck into the final book as I’ve been itching to see where the author was taking these characters. So not only did I forget the storm, but I was swept away by the story and had no idea what going to happen after each new twist. There were a few major twists that really surprised me, and although I was glad to finally have Pip and Greyson’s story resolved, I didn’t want to say goodbye to any of the Northern Lakes Pack.
Hope this made sense, it’s just after 3am and I’m so tired I think I can now fall asleep despite the rain 🥱
love the world-building, love the characters but I am always left wanting more didn't appreciate unimaginative villains, feels like a repeat of the previous book except for a couple of kisses, this is a very "clean" book 3,5⭐
I'm reviewing the entire trilogy here. I don't know why but my brain has been on the longest 'ROMANCE NOVELS ONLY' streak and it is so hard to read anything that isn't lighthearted, has some nice action and cool magic powers and a cute romance. So, this werewolf series it is. I love KM Shea and really enjoyed this. I really like the way werewolves were written, loved Pip and Greyson's relationship and how it developed, and just loved Pip's relationships with all the side characters. This was really a very fluffy and feel-good novel with a very sweet romance. So, my brain is appeased. And I had a very nice time reading this and escaping work stress.
Four, not five stars because: the worldbuilding is paper-thin... I also got frustrated with the romance. Each kept secrets from the other, made unilateral decisions etc. Pip's arc about learning to trust also didn't feel as cathartic as it should have been.
Out of all the Magiford books so far, this is the place I'd want to actually be, (and a werewolf boyfriend would also be great, please and thank you!)
There is something about the tone of this trilogy that gets me in my cozy happy place. Maybe it's the woods? The Snuggles? The family dynamic? Mayor Pearl's iron fist of "Don't mess with our wolves!"?
Regardless, this book was a hoot to read, and I had great satisfaction in the conclusions that happened. I always know my heart is safe with Kitty, she makes sure that while crap happens, it all turns out okay and even some things you thought could never be okay...are.
Also, Tom and Dale.
Read it for them.
But don't tell their wives!
Content: no language, some clean kisses, and mild violence (mostly Pip and her baseball bat, hahahah!)
LOVE the series! Annoyed at the stupid “can’t fulfill the mate bond” without even trying to. Obviously it will happen at some point (probably the very last page of the last book, *sigh*). But the story, the characters and all the craziness is just plain addicting fun!
I LOVED the cast of characters by the 3rd book. There were so many more to keep track of in this trilogy but even ones that weren't mentioned very often felt like they had enough built up to get an emotional moment at the end (I'm looking at you, Old Jack). I got teary eyed at the ending for Teresa. I absolutely love having multiple adults encourage and support a ten year old little girl's dreams and it made me so happy!
I will say the stakes in this werewolf trilogy and ultimate point/lesson deviates from the rest of the Magiford universe series. The other books are all about uniting supernaturals and being strong together (e.g., wizards and vampires, the fae courts plus humans, werewolf, non-nobles, elves with vampire, werewolf, humans, and their enemy). In this series, the unity is restricted to the werewolf hunters and werewolves, and not even all werewolf packs - just this one. By the end of book three, the Northern Lakes Pack is well united with the hunters and humans among them but it's only that pack. It's implied that in the future Greyson will be working to better unite the werewolf packs and shifters in general but it hasn't started yet.
In that regard, it feels like this story falls kind of short. I feel like maybe books 1 and 2 could have been sort of condensed into one story, book 3 could have been book 2, and then book 3 could have been focusing on the task of uniting more packs and shifters together, especially after the division and turmoil they went through in the previous books.
The actual plot was decent. Pip was a bit more frustrating in her relationship angst that went on for too long. Also the way in which she has to accept and trust people was a nice point to have in a story but also took a bit long for her to really get the picture.
While it's been clear that Greyson likes Pip from the start (and she likes him as well, which made her reluctance kind of stupidly frustrating), I'm concerned that he seems to like her mostly for what she can do for him, not who she is as a person, but it's not enough to feel icky about it. It's just definitely something that's come up several times so I'm a little sus enough to note it.
The whole "Greyson keeps breaking phones" gag is super dumb for so many reasons and it annoyed me every time. He's supposed to be super strong so he's accidentally breaking his phone when it's loud or he's upset. Okay, except, he's also supposed to be super in control of his abilities. If he was that out of control then he'd be constantly breaking all sorts of things accidentally, not just phones. (and they even have other newly changed wolves doing just that so it's not like the author didn't think of this) It's mentioned constantly about how in control Greyson and how impressive it is. This joke completely undermines all of that.
But ALSO the excuse over the phone being loud? Turn it on silent. Turn it on vibrate. "the sound accidentally gets turned on in my pocket, wah wah" That was only mentioned once in book 1 and never again and it's such a stupid flimsy excuse for a gag that's not even funny. I've had every phone I've ever owned on silent/vibrate and the number of times it's accidentally gotten volume turned on may be like two or three times in two decades. It makes no sense.
I really liked the first two books in this series but I felt kind of let down by this book. I mean I still read in within 5 hours as soon as it came out but there were some issues. It still had Kitty's signature humor and happy ending but the plot wasn't as compelling. I kind of felt like things just tied up too nicely after many chapters of indecision. Also, I didn't really buy into the villain plot (I'm not even sure if I cared). Some of this review has been added after some reflection and reading other thoughts, but while I liked Greyson and Pip together, Pip was annoying by herself. I agree like others have said that it would have been better if they had a true romance in this book, especially since as the latest short pointed out, Pip hated Greyson until the end of the first book. They needed some time to get to know each other as a romantic pair without it being overly one-sided.
Some things that I loved were the CoMaD cameos and the cameo from our favorite tea spiking fae.
If I had to rank Magiford so far, I would say that HoBaM is the best no contest. I think that CoMaD and PoDaD are tied but I have different issues with them. I think that plot in CoMaD wasn't as interesting but writing wise it was solid. I think that PoDaD had a lot of potential but some plot issues took it down a bit. However, it's sill enjoyable and I will still happily read K.M. Shea.
Another K.M Shea series that is 5 stars across the board! Ugh she is just such an amazing writer 😭 This is the conclusion of the werewolf romance series and boy oh boy was it electric!!!!
Imagine this… an actual story that deals with an alpha wolf MMC that isn’t a red flag or borderline abusive?! Greyson has got to be up there for green flags. And Pip, the best girl ever. Her emotional turmoil was done well and seeing her work through her emotional traumas to fully bond with the Pack- I full teared up. I’ve grown so attached to all the characters in this, I’m gonna miss their story so much.
We learn a little more about the wider mystery too! And the Paragon causing havoc still- love him xoxo
Overall, Pip & Greyson is up there with Killian & Hazel. This was such a good YA werewolf romance with a strong FMC and a green flag MMC. I hope they get more cameos in later books (I also need to know if Wyatt & Scarlett become a thing 😶🌫️). Please please read this y’all! This one actually works well as a standalone series :)
My ranking of the series so far: 1. Hall of Blood & Mercy 2. Pack of Dawn & Destiny 3. Court of Midnight & Deception
What an awesome conclusion to an awesome series!! Man....the healing, the family, the...everything.
I can't really give a proper review considering all but I'm just so happy that Kitty doesn't forget the side characters or the victims when handing out happy endings. And also, the worldbuilding and the magic system...ahhhh, I love these books so much!!
I'm so excited to see what Kitty has planned next, and I will always, ALWAYS love the stray mullet in this book (hehe)
Content: Nothing other than kissing. A bit of violence but nothing gruesome though they are wolves. Again, wolves transform back to human without clothes but they fortunately do have magic that gives them clothing, so nothing inappropriate
It’s been about a week since I finished this novel and I had to read a few reviews to refresh my memory before writing this. This trilogy, overall, didn’t leave as much of an impression on me as the previous two. I thought the motives of the villains were interesting. And I was definitely fascinated by the development in Pip’s wolf’s kiss powers. But I wish there had been more with the romance. And while I didn’t dislike Pip’s character, she didn’t stand out to me as much as Hazel and Leila which, consequentially, made some of her other relationships feel…. Underdeveloped. I did like Greyson though. And I am curious to see what happens next in this world.
The Magiford stories are like coming home! 🥹 I can honestly say this is a fantasy world I’d love to live in.
Shea gave the fated mates a healthy spin, without going overboard on the possessiveness or making it weird/creepy. The whole Pack bond is so perfect, and I’d forgotten this one overlaps with a certain vampire slayer’s trilogy, hehe. 👀
Anyways, I am completely and totally enamoured and without words to do it proper justice. It’s brilliant and has my heart. ‘Nuff said. 😍
"Fated" was a good ending to the "Pack of Dawn and Destiny" series. It had crazy twists and turns, adorable romantic moments, and fun cameos from characters featured in the "Court of Midnight and Deception" series.
It won't say much about the plot twists, because I don't want to spoil it. I will say that I didn't see most of them coming. My favorite thing about a few of the plot twists is that they seem to hint that there are more books that may be coming to the Magiford Universe.
The romance was my favorite thing about this book, though. The interactions between Pip and Greyson were so sweet and funny. It made me so happy that Pip opened herself up to loving and being loved. I also liked Greyson was more honest in "Fated," than he had been in the first two books. He has really grown on me as a male lead. Though Killian is still my favorite Magiford male lead, I do think Greyson is worthy of appreciation.
As for the cameos, they were so good. "Hunted," and "United," also had cameos from characters in the "Court of Midnight and Deception," series, but they didn't play as big of a role in the overall plot as these ones did. The only thing that could have made them better is if we had had cameos from some characters from "The Hall of Blood and Mercy," series.
I'm so glad K.M. Shea has added a third series to the Magiford Universe!
The secret is out and pretty much every Alpha in the area is looking to acquire the "Wolf's Kiss"...by force if necessary.
But while the Pack is strong enough to fend off the the constant attackers-there seems to be an even more dangerous plot that is brewing in the background. Can Pip accept her place within the Pack, her bond, and come to grips with her new powers before it's too late?
I really like this book I like the ending. It was about time that PIP even though she spent all that time trying to figure out how to sever the mate bond, she finally decided to except it. She also learned a lot more about how her magic works. I also like how PIP also figured out that the pack was more excepting of her than she thought they were.
Not as good as the last book as there was a bit too much repetitiveness of Pip's "am I worthy of love?" routine and "everyone leaves me" blah blah. But otherwise enjoyable read overall. Kinda saw that bad guy coming an still think their motivations were weak, but I guess people have done worst for less.
