When a careless wager lands you in trouble...

Sworn off men and their cheating ways, I focus on my new career as an illustrator. Then my path crosses with hotshot hockey star and notorious player, War. No matter his intense blue stares and sinful smiles, I’m not going down that road again.
But one forgotten bet made weeks ago, and my plans go up in flames. Manipulated into working for the gorgeous, vexing man—for free!—I refuse to be another notch on his hockey stick! I’m taking you down, #19 😈

It's time to up the stakes...

I live and breathe hockey, until Charlotte Jones with her short skirts and sexy legs sashays into my life. The maddening woman challenges me in ways I cannot deny. I’m used to getting what I want, but my former player rep presents a handicap. If calling in this bet to keep her close and prove to her she is whom I want, I’m all over it.
And damn the risks, whatever they may be.
Then she goes into battle mode on social media…Game on, @charlij🏒

I believe this was my absolute favorite of the players series. War with his history is heartbreaking in his pursuit of Charli. That he would finally let someone in. Charli is also broken with her history. The two do not have an easy go at it, but it's this that makes the book that much better. To watch the concrete walls the two have built tumble down is just at times heart wrenching. Love it so much. I very seldom give fives, but for me this book resonated deep. I volunteered to read this book.

I really enjoyed this book. I like the banter between Chari and War. I also liked that his end game was so in your face, you got hints of what he wanted from her, but never enough, so the story kept you guessing. They both had baggage from their pasts which held both of them back in some way, but as they slowing grow to accept each other, their relationship blossomed.

There are very few authors that I know that can do wildly expansive paranormal stories and then pivot to sports stories that make me cry. Playerdown doesnt start like a typical sports romance and never reminds you of one. This is a special enemies to lovers where two damaged people finally SEE each other through the fear, self loathing and doubt.

Author Hunter has written magic, but her strongest stuff is character definition. Let's look at War. The reader, as well as Charli, originally see him as a conundrum. Sweet and Sour, empathetic and angry.

"War was a contradiction. He appeared the quieter one among his two friends, but apparently, he was a force to be reckoned with on ice, and with a temper to match, or so I’ve heard. More, he was kind and considerate, a side I’d witnessed recently."

As the story went on, War turned out to be deeply loyal, loving, generous and honest. I loved reading his progression and how he dealt with his big secret.

Charli had her own secrets and self conscience abilities to put up walls. War had his opinions:

"Oh, she was funny, amusing, and had a sarcastic mouth that would put Ray’s to shame, but the moment I’d taken a step closer to chat, to ask about something personal, like what she did job-wise, she whipped out the damn pole and shut me down."

The sentences really make you pay attention. There's emotions on every page, linked together by stellar characters...strong characters...honest characters. There are side characters from book one and two (which you don't need to read to read this book...but you will definitely want to!). War and Charli work together to work through their demons. Could they do it without each other? We will never know. The chemistry between them is strong, but the angst is just as strong so the two of them have to fight for each other. Author Hunter has written another painful, beautiful, fantastic, sad and uplifting story that I won't forget anytime soon.

Love the story and the characters. Ms Hunter is my go to author. I don't usually read sports romance but this one intrigued me. It makes me want to purchase the first two books from the series.
Charli is fed up with relationship especially when her boyfriend cheated on her.
War is a Pro Hockey Player who is also a womanizer per se. When they met, Charli
refuse to have anything to do with him because of his reputation. She doesn't want to be another one of his conquest. They made a bet and Charli lost.and off she goes to
War's house to help with the weeds. War has been getting threatening text messages and couldn't figure out who was sending them. War's childhood was not a walk in the park but he had an amazing foster dad who steered him towards the right direction.
Charli and War succumbed to their physical attraction and boy were they hot.
Will there be a second chance at a relationship for Char?
Will War win her heart?
Will the person who send him threatening text be caught?
You will have to one click to find out. Rest assured you will not be disappointed.

War & Charli - Fabulous Story!!

We have a trio of friends who are hockey players. Two, Max and Jack are married to good friends Ila and Ray. This leaves best friend Charli, and notorious War as “unattached” members of the group. War has plans to amend that.

Fulfilling terms of a bet, revelations of tough upbringings, a reminiscent trip to an amusement park, and an overgrown yard needing much weeding all come together like pieces of a puzzle to create a wonderful story with stunning results.

Add some danger and intrigue and you have a fabulous, entertaining and heartwarming story which I highly recommend.

The third in a series about three sexy alpha hockey players who before they meet “ the one” are players in every sense of the word. This story focuses on Eli and Charlotte they are introduced in book one and there story and chemistry is combustible. You can read this as a stand-alone but you will definitely enjoy if you read in order. Ms. Hunter created a great contemporary series with great characters and interesting storylines.

Just a $10 bet between War and Charli didn’t quite turn out as she expected. It would cost her much more time and trust than she ever thought. She had been treated badly in the past and what he was proposing may just be too far. Even though the chemistry between them is burning so hot, they have hurdles to get over.
A brilliant story of boy meets girls for fun, until all he sees is blue.
Another winner from Georgia Lyn Hunter.

A sweet, fun read!

War and Charli’s relationship evolved unexpectedly that gave me the feels I enjoy. I loved their chemistry, but there was a sweetness they had that made for a cute and enduring read. The well written storyline will have you at the edge of your seat as you follow their not so perfect journey to finding a deserved HEA. I can’t believe this is the last book in this fabulous series, but it ended with a banging entertaining story.

Note : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

🏒Mon avis :

Eh bien je me suis lourdement trompé.

#playerdown is the third and final installment in the Players to Men series. I read it as a standalone and feel I would have enjoyed it more if I had read the previous two. Enough background was given so I was able to appreciate the friendships and relationships between the three hockey studs Jack, Max, War (Eli) and the woman who tame them, Ila, Ray and Charlotte. This story focuses on War and Char's love story. Their banter and social media face off created a fun, playful romance despite each of their personal struggles. I particularly loved War's story and his foster father, Caleb. The cryptic text messages he receives added intrigue to the story and I was quickly turning the pages to see how it played out.

This is the third book in a series but I haven’t read either of the other two in the series. It might be owing to not having read those that I found the start to the book a bit slow and I was not fully drawn in. That changed around the time of the #paintwars and the book from that point on drew me in more.
I liked Charli and War and I really enjoyed their dynamics with their friends who must be the focus of the other books. I loved Caleb and his relationship with War was really heartwarming.
While I enjoyed the book I do think I would have got more out of it if I had read the other books in the series.

There is strong emotional connection between Charli and War, both who have their reasons for putting walls up and not letting anyone in. But even from the beginning, you can see the connection the two share. Their friends have found happiness and although Charli thinks all she needs is her career, War changes everything in her life. The sweetness of their relationship as they get to know each other kept me reading just to see how they would achieve their HEA. A sweet and sexy read!

This story, besides being an awesome Hockey Star story, holds lots of fun, laughs and sexy time. I really loved the characters, especially the strong tough woman named Charlie. Well written, fabulous story line, this book has just about everything you'd want in a love story. Well thought out, it dragged me right n and kept me glued to the pages. Bravo to the author who grows with each new release.

This one starts out as a sweet love story between a hunky hockey jock and the artist daughter of a social-climbing socialite, but it takes a dark turn when someone from the jock's past threatens to reveal dark secrets from his past.
Lots of clever banter, some hot sex and a little edge of your seat suspense make #playerdown an enjoyable read.

Definitely one I was unable to put down! If you're looking for something lighthearted, sweet, and sexy, look no further than #playerdown. In fact, pick up the whole series! You won't regret it!

meh…not missing much

Not a bad book but the tempo and wording of this book was clearly different from the other two books. It didn’t read like the same author. The words were stiff and didn’t flow easily as if the characters were forcing this relationship. Just wasn’t believable for me…no chemistry.

An entertaining romance with with conflict, humor, mystery and fun. War is a hockey star with a temper who is known as a "player" with the ladies, but has he meet his match in the sassy Charli. The author develops strong characters into a story that you can't pit down until the end.
