In The Devil’s Crescent, hardened bounty hunter Diego Montoya descends upon a small Texas village in the midst of a cloudburst and boldly plunges into the life of beautiful, small time cattle rancher, Maggie MacNaughton. Diego is a man haunted by a past filled with death and disappointment, a nobleman fleeing from the dictates of his demanding father and an arranged marriage.
When a U.S. Marshall asks Diego to infiltrate a gun runner’s operation, Diego reluctantly agrees, shadowing the powerful land baron, Morgan Lansing. Morgan’s efforts play into the hands of a group of Mexican nationalists, who quickly claim the land vacated by the terrified settlers until only one parcel stands in the way of their march toward the border -- the one occupied by Maggie MacNaughton. Diego and Maggie match wits and wills as the danger mounts. Only their reliance upon each other has the power to save them from a swift and certain death.
Currently working on an exciting audio drama entitled LUSTRIAS. This is quite an epic. Think a futuristic Lord of the Rings and you'd be pretty close! Check it out at http://www.greenmoonprod.com.
I have been writing novels, poetry, and screenplays for over forty years. BRIGGEN, my third release, is an exciting science fiction/fantasy that will have you perched on the very edge of your seat until you turn the final page.
In addition, I am a veteran of the stage, singing and starring in the lead role as the tomboyish Princess Winifred in Once Upon a Mattress, which gained me an invitation to audition for the Metropolitan Opera in New York. I have received the National Thespian Award and has appeared in numerous additional theater productions in New York, Michigan and Maryland, including The Admirable Crichton, The Crucible and The Pajama Game.
When Diego Montoya rode into Hallow Gap one rainy night, bringing with him the body of Wade Dalton, everyone in town noticed. A bounty hunter, Diego was known as "El Diablo" to most. Since the Sheriff was out of town, he was going to have to wait on collecting his bounty. Waiting wasn't something Diego was good at. And now Diego was stuck in Hallow Gap.
He hadn't planned on running into the likes of Maggie MacNaughton, and all her troubles. Maggie was barely hanging on to her ranch and Morgan Lansing was doing his best to get his hands on it, one way or another.
Unwanted feelings sprung between the dashing Diego and the fiesty Maggin MacNaughton. Despite the fact that Torry Whitaker was indebted to taking care of her, Diego found himself knee deep in protecting both Maggie and the town of Hallow Gap from Lansing.
Lansing had dirty deals going on already with the Dons in Mexico, to put guns in the hands of the Indians so the Texans would give up their land. But all well laid plans can go stray…
Was Diego's father involved? Could he leave Maggie now that he'd married her and go home? Don't miss this swashbuckler western by bestselling author, Ann B. Keller. It will keep you turning the pages with all it's action and romance. Not a dull minute in the book, one can only swoon from the read. A must read for anyone who likes action westerns and romance galore. This book is not one to put down till the end. Check it out, The Devil's Crescent" is a winner!!!
I’ve decided one disadvantage of reading on a computer is that I read too fast. And because I’m lazy, I don’t bother going back to check when I’m not sure what’s just happened. But “The Devil’s Crescent” was an enjoyable quick read. The small Texas town of Hollow Gap was peopled with interesting characters, and I felt like I’d come to know them by the end of the book. From headstrong Maggie, boldly going where she ought to know better, to schoolteacher Cora, safe and sensible and deeply in love; from strange Will to the Winslow boy; from sheriff to Mexican bounty-hunter; they all come together in a well-realized and well-described small town, on the edge of disaster.
The occasional unsettled feeling of having just heard something before, or having missed something important, didn’t detract from the read. After all; life’s like that. And Maggie’s good fortune was easily explained by Diego’s good wit. I loved the conversations and the characterizations in the novel, and my only complaint would be that I’d like to meet the characters again and learn more of their stories. Will the Winslow boy marry the girl who’s sweet on him? Will the Indians live in peace? Will Diego’s father ever come to visit?
"The Devil’s Crescent" is a fine romantic story, with well-drawn characters, interesting location, and authentic historical setting. It reminded me of the Westerns I used to enjoy on TV as a kid, and it left me contented and ready to face the problems of my own day.
When you take a beautiful, strong willed, lady named Maggie, add a handsome, strong minded Spaniard who is also a bounty hunter, named Diego, throw in a land baron named Morgan, who will do whatever it takes to get his hands on Maggie’s ranch, including forcing her to marry him, what do you have? If your name is Ann Keller you have the makings for a wonderful story.
Follow Maggie through the heart breaks of having her cattle killed, her home burned and being kidnapped. See how Diego comes to her rescue with his own proposal for solving her situation. Find out why the Indians are on the war path and who supplied them with faulty guns. And as the story unfolds, meet Alena who has been under contract since childhood to marry Diego.
Will Diego go against his father and not bring his and Alena’s families together through marriage? Will Morgan finally make Maggie see that marrying him is the best thing for her? Will the people of Hollow Gap pull together and defend themselves from the Indian up-rise or will they fall apart. Find the answers to these questions and more when you read this book of taming the West through love.

I love historical romances that take you on a new journey. Ann B Keller does this. This book moves fast and has its facts in order. You really feel like you are back in the old west. The way Ann B Keller writes it amazing. She gives you the whole story and keeps it clean and moving. I give this one well over 5 stars.
