Stars shine brighter when the moon is dim. I’ve always been the moon. That’s what happens when you push your dreams aside to fulfill the wishes of the people you love. It’s what brought me to a New York City subway platform with my guitar and a heart full of love songs written from pain and sung with hope. When Berk Morgan tosses a handful of coins into my guitar case, he accidentally throws in a key. It’s the key to someone’s heart. Berk comes looking for it. What he finds is a connection neither of us can deny. He tells me I’m his star. He wants me to shine brighter than I ever have before, but that comes with a sacrifice I’m not sure I can make.
Deborah Bladon had never read a romance hero she didn't like. Her love for romance novels began when she was old enough to board the bus, library card in hand to check out the newest Harlequin paperbacks. She was a Canadian by heart, and by passport, but you could often spot her in New York City sipping a latte and looking for inspiration for her next story. Manhattan was definitely her second home.
She cherished her family and believed that each day was a gift for writing, for reading, and for loving.
I love Berk & Astrid’s story!! Her stories always makes me feel like I’m in a bubble away from everything. I just can’t get enough of her books! I set aside whichever book I’m reading to devour her stories. In the first book, Catch, we meet single dad, Berk and his daughter Stevie, I couldn’t wait to read his story. Workaholic but always made time for his daughter, he was such a good dad. One day, crosses paths with a singer in the subway station and accidentally drops something important along with his tip in her guitar case. They were meant to cross paths again. She has dreams, but what starts as just fun develops with strong feelings involved. Once her popularity blows up, is their relationship going to end or will they work through their blossoming relationship? I love these two together, I could feel their connection and blazing chemistry! Stevie was so much fun, and it was so great to see Keats Morgan again. Can’t wait for more!
Astrid Rehn is the super friendly owner of a trendy vinyl record store called ‘Vinyl Crush’ in Manhattan. She also has an incredible voice and enjoys busking to feed her soul. One day Astrid is busking at a subway stop when a very handsome man drops some loose change and a small gold key in her guitar case.
Berk Morgan is a publishing magnate and a widowed father to a 9 year old girl named Stevie. Stevie desperately needs her father to find her missing key to open the diary of her written secrets.
Berk is immediately taken by Astrid when they officially meet that he finds more reasons to come into her store. They start off as casual but, quickly realize their strong connection to each other could be something more. Everything is going smoothly until Astrid gets a chance of making a dream come true and Berk doesn’t want to be the reason she doesn’t succeed.
An amazing read with incredible characters and taking a chance on love. I received an ARC for this book and this is my review.
*Might Contain Spoilers* ********************************************************************************************* * * * * Loved this book! Berk, Astrid and Stevie are amazing. You don’t HAVE to read any of the other books in Deborah Bladon’s world(New York/Boston), but if you’ve read everything like I have it’s nice to “see” familiar characters pop up. This was a wonderful story with a hidden truth that unravels the love Berk and Astrid feel for each other. Just when you think you know how it will end, you get the full story and a HEA with second epilogue(if you are a true fan).😉 This is yet another instance where I wish her books had a playlist. I may need to DM and ask if that’s a future possibility😍 Happy Reading
Astrid was into her music. Celebrating life, playing and singing on corners. She didn't need the money. She did it to make people happy. She owns a music store selling vintage records. Tons of customers daily. She met Berk by accident one day, while he was walking by on a errand. Threw change in to her case, and by accident he threw a key. Not realizing it was there. When he goes back home, his young daughter Stevie tell her dad that she has lost her key to her diary. Berk has to find the key, looking every where, then he remembers where he was early and tries to hunt Astrid down to to get the key back! This story was a awesome read and I really enjoyed reading it. A good spin, the author has written a delightful story. ENJOY
I was so excited when I saw Beck Morgan was getting his own story, his daughter Stevie is an absolute treat and I loved reading about her in Keats book and getting to see her unique take on life was such a breath of fresh air. This was a beautifully sweet romance with low angst and all feelings. Single dad Berk meets Astrid when he accidentally drops a key along with some spare change into her guitar case when he hears her busking. When he finds her to retrieve it, sparks immediately fly. I loved every minute of this, the Morgan family are such a beautiful tightly knit unit, this whole story had a beautiful flow and I was hooked from the very start. A wonderful read.
Another great read, finished in one big reading stint. The characters are strong, and the story moves along nicely with the back drop to the music shop, busking and Astrid's journey to success. Berk is as strong as all Deborah's male leads. The only thing I am beginning to notice is that the last few books which include children, the kids are rather precocious, although they are always described as "adorable and everyone loving them" to me they are annoying, and should be a bit more realistic i.e. sometimes awkward or moody kids would make the storylines believable as kids are never that wonderful all the time.
I absolutely love this story from the minute I started chapter 1 all the way through the epilogue. I thought that the main character Astrid was an old soul that I connected with so well. Stevie was absolutely adorable and Hot Dad did not disappoint either. I quite often found myself imagining hearing Astrid singing out in the subway station. I just wanted to hear the sound that everybody was commenting on. This author always makes me want to see the movie of the book I just read. I can't wait for her next book release.
Keats ( from Catch first book in this series The Morgans of New York) older brother Berk finds his happily ever after with singer/songwriter Astrid. One thing I enjoyed while reading this story is when Berk met and fell for Astrid he was all in. The author did not write him to be confused about his decision to care and want to be with someone after a loss Berk is a single dad a widower. His daughter Stevie is till up to her mature ways Astrid is much younger than Beck but she has an old soul and even though they seem to be complete opposites they have a lot in common
Berk and Astrid just became my favorite characters ever. Their chemistry is off the charts but what makes their story so special is the loss they have worked through and continue to wrestle with.
Grief is never a simple or finite experience unfortunately. I love how lost Berk is when we first meet him yet slowly begins to heal from the moment he meets Astrid. She truly is his angel.
Also I can’t wait to see Stevie’s love story one day bc she is my absolute favorite character.
I love how this book has no angst in it. It’s a feel good read that left me completely satisfied. I read it in one sitting so now I’m bummed that I finished!
The writing lives up to my expectations of Deborah Bladon! She continues to best her own work and crafted a story with all the feels. It has hopes, dreams, secrets, wants, desires and honesty. It really is a great book.
Another amazing story by this author, who never disappoints. Astrid and Berk are the stars of this story, and it is a heartfelt, wonderful read. The warmth in this love story is evident from the beginning and builds. It’s one of the few books that while reading you realize you are happy, generating such a nice feeling. A treasure. Highly recommend. I received an ARC copy to provide my honest review.
This book is beautifully written, the emotion and detail were perfection. It completely pulled on my heart strings throughout- Stevie and her mature little statements, I honestly was laughing out loud at the Keats socks incidents. The suspense and twists had me not able to put the book down until the dry last end of this perfect story - completely loved it! Can’t wait to read more of the Morgan family series.
I love when a story can be told using music and words to pull at your heart strings. You get the true taste of Astrid’s personality but the way she sings. The story is beautifully told with so much detail that you can feel the connection between Berk and Astrid when they finally meet face to face. I also adored the personality of the little one in this story. She is a the comedy that brings the story together!
I chose this rating because this was actually a pretty great book. I really enjoy all of the characters. This was a book of infatuation, determination, compassion, kindness, and falling in love. I enjoyed Berk and Astrid story. I also enjoyed the way that Astrid fell in love with Berks daughter Stevie. The orthodontist amazing job putting these characters together. Pretty great read! I recommend this book to all romance readers.
Deborah Bladon never disappoints. Another delightful, hot, happily ever after. The relationship between Berk and Stevie is one that keeps you smiling. Astrid is young, but so well grounded. No frustrating over the top drama, just a wonderful story of two people finding each other.
love the positive story with folks that cherish what is important in life❤️
I have read all of Deborah’s books. I am always attracted to her wonderful characters and multifaceted stories that make you wish you knew these folks . Please keep writing and I’ll emerge myself in the world of your making ❤️
What an amazing love story Berk and Astrid are the perfect couple meant to be together love how it was the lost diary key that got them to meet each other. And Stevie what a sweet loving little girl! It made we laugh and cry the book touched me so much emotionally! A must read for all !! Love all your books Deborah Bladon you are awesome!!!
What an amazing story. An adventure everyday between a single widowed dad and his awesome daughter, who he would do anything for. On a chance encounter he sees a musician\ singer on the subway, that encounter leads to a series of events. This story will make you feel good about their inevitable journey that’s about to unfold. Beautiful story. Loved it.❤️
I wait for all of Deborah Bladon's books to release since her very first book. Every one is so special and unique. I love this book about finding love in the most bazaar circumstances. For anyone wanting to a reminder of what love looks like read all her books!
I love all of Deborah’s books but this was especially wonderful! How can you not love a character like Stevie?! Astrid and Berkeley were fabulous as well. Loved Eloise and hope there is a Tory in her future as well. I love how past characters and places weave throughout each book. It reminds you how great all of her books have been.
Although I really liked Berk and all his family and Astrid and Eloise, Stevie was the one who captured my attention throughout the book. But there was something that just clanged with me when romantic, gentlemanly Berk used the f word when he wanted Astrid. Yuck!
This is turning into a fabulous series - I really enjoyed Berk and Astrid’s love story. Deborah has created a family unit with The Morgan’s that is so heartwarming, you can’t help but want more. Stevie does seem to be the glue that helps bind them together, but the adults have a strong family bond already.
I love everyone of Deborah's books!! She never disappoints!! Astrid and Berk's story is so beautiful!! I loved their story! Deborah grabs you at the very beginning Nd takes you all the way to the beautiful end!!
This story hooked me quickly and thoroughly. I loved this story that explores such a vast range of emotion. It's originality was refreshing. It's a clear hit!
Just the perfect amount of every emotion including lust! Astrid is the ultimate artist and fantastic person and Berk is the greatest dad who deserved to have absolute love in his life again. Quite frankly Stevie kind of stole the show in many ways and I loved that!
I loved Berk and Astrid, such a fantastic couple. Such an amazing love story. There was tragedy and loss but even with all of that they found each other. I highly recommend this book.
