Tasha Ward exists as a phantom. Drifting from place to place, she can blend in to the point of invisibility—a trait highly useful for a deadly assassin like her. But after years of perfecting her skills, she wants to be seen.
No… It’s more than that. She wants the alpha of the murderous Redcliff wolf pack to look her in the eye as she plunges her knife straight through his heart. Traveling deep into the pack’s territory alone, Tasha’s prepared for war… until she finally faces the pack’s ruggedly sexy leader and does the one thing she’s never done before. Hesitate.
As the new alpha, Reid Holden doesn’t agree with many of the traditions his father believed in. Especially taking a woman to sacrifice once a year. Unfortunately, being on top means he’s always a target, and venomous snakes are everywhere. Even in his own family.
Tasha’s meant to be another enemy, but Reid is finding it impossible to hate her. It doesn’t help that his wolf has already claimed her. She may want him dead, but she might be the one person he’ll end up risking everything for.

It is super hard for me to love a short read, but this one killed it! Tasha is a kick ass but her vendetta makes her blind to the true villain. She jumps at a chance to find out what happened to her sister 6 years ago. Tash has spent the years honing her mind and body to exact revenge....but things are not at all what she expected.
Reid know immediately Tash intends to kill him. He can't allow himself to kill her or let her go, the why is something he does not want to acknowledge. As they began to share personal information they realize the things they want can be resolved if they work together...... or can they???
This is the first book I have read by this author and I must say I was sooo not disappointed. I really loved the strong female character she brought with Tasha, even when she was feeling vulnerable she still held true to being a strong character. And of course I couldn't help but to fall for Reid, I mean he's a wolf and tho he tries to play the tough guy, he really wears his heart on his sleeve. There are also several side characters that bring so much to this story as well, Julius is an interesting character and has me guessing if he's a good guy or a bad guy. I really loved the world and character building from Wolf Hunter, I was disappointed when this book ended only because I ran out of words and needed more. I need book two, like yesterday lol I loved that Harper Brooks kept her readers captivated by her words, there was always something going on and kept you wanting to know what was to come from the next page. I love when an author can intrigue me so much that it leaves me with a book hangover which is exactly what she did. If you love shifters as much as I do, because I can't resist a good shifter book, then this is the perfect read for you.
How many books can you read where enemies eventually fall in love and still like it? How many books can you read about werewolves and werewolf hunters falling in love and still like it? I think the limit does not exist. Even though I have read the same kind of plot, with different details of course, countless times already I still want and need more. I was therefore really happy when I got offered an arc for this book.
Just like the previous book by Brooks I've read the book was really addictive and a very quick and easy read. I quite enjoyed the main characters in this story. Yes, I feel like they both didn't show us everything they have to offer, yet, but I'm very intrigued with what we've seen and I'm very intrigued with what they can be together. Even though the story isn't too long I did grow invested in their romance and I did start rooting for them and their happily ever after.
What I like about Brooks is that she dares to give her characters time to build a connection. Even though there's quite clearly a mate connection between these two people, they both feel it the moment they meet each other for the very first time, they need time to forgive and forget. They need time to see the other through different eyes. They also need time to acknowledge that they love each other. And even though there's a lot going on, the characters get and take that time.
It therefore feels like the main plot has barely started yet. Actually we mostly know that a lot of mysterious things have happened, but we have no idea what's truly going on, who could be behind it and what the situation with the treaty between the witches and the wolves actually is. Just like the two main characters we have loads of questions and not many answers yet. I can't wait to get some answers in the next book!
Tasha has had one goal in the past few years....kill the alpha from the pack who took her sister. Simple right? Well, there's a new one, and things are not as simple as she thinks when she meets Reid. Reid is the new alpha and wants to change things in his pack...he just doesn't know who to trust, or if anyone else but him want the change. And then he meets the woman who wants to kill him. And he knows his life will never be the same again
Tasha is an assassin sent out to rid the others of evil supernatural beings. For the last six years, she has never failed to eliminate her target. In search of Carmen, her younger sister, all this death has brought her no closer to the answers she is in of need to find what happened to her. Now she has been summoned to infiltrate and kill the alpha of the Redcliff wolf pack, the same pack Tasha believes who took her beloved sister. Problem is, Mae, the leader of the witch’s coven who has hired her isn’t much better than the wolf pack. All the years her parents spent trying to shield their daughters from the coven have been for naught. The first time Mae comes to her, she enters into a contract with them, knowing that it could mean her death by wolves or witches. She couldn’t turn down the money the witches are offering or the chance to seek answers from Reid, the new alpha leader, before she kills him. But Reid’s strength and conning was more than Tasha was prepared to do battle with and soon finds herself the prisoner of the Redcliff pack. After awakening in the pack house, Tasha feels something isn’t right. She senses an animosity, not only of herself but for Reid as well. Something hides in the walls. She also faces a strong pull to Reid; one she has never felt for another male. What is happening to her? Told in alternating points of view, the voices of both characters ring true with a depth that allows the readers to get to know the world in which they must survive; Reid’s struggle to change a two-hundred-year-old bargain that has cost many lives, as well as deal with their growing feelings for each other. There are secrets within secrets here; Reid’s brothers hold their own answers they are refusing to share with the alpha. This is a tale of vengeance, power struggles, hatred, evil intent, romance and change on the horizon. Both Tasha and Reid are limited in their power to find solutions, while they work together for change in their troubled world. Until they are pulled apart, when this tale is…to be continued. A rich tale to fall into and well worth hanging around for the next tale.
Wolf Hunter… Tasha is a hired assassin but there was a time she wasn’t. After her sister is taken she trains for the day that she can exact her revenge on the wolf pack that took her. She is approached by a coven to kill the alpha. She takes the job and uses herself as an offered sacrifice. Reid is the new Alpha and the minute he sees Tasha he knows she is his mate but she is dead set on killing him. After the sacrifice exchange they both realize things are not what they seem. Will they work together to find out who is behind the missing girls? Will Tasha help Reid find the traitors in his pack. Will they both pay the ultimate price for those answers? We are left on a cliffhanger after they both find themselves battling to stay alive. Betrayed by those close to them.
A fantastic book that really hooks you in from the start. This book is told from a dual POV. It revolves around the pink-haired assassin Tasha, and Reid the alpha of the Redcliff pack. But when they come face-to-face, it is explosive. There are so many twists and turns in this book that you will be on the edge of your seat the entire time.
Harper A Brooks does a fantastic job of bringing her characters to life. They are all rich-bodied and they each have their own personality. You get lost in the story very easily due to the characters as well as the world-building that brings it all to life.
A fantastic book that ends on a cliffhanger, and will leave you begging for the next one.
My mind is blown. It seems so straightforward: Tasha kills the Alpha, gets her revenge, and everybody but the wolves goes home happy. But, there is so much more going on in this story than appears at first. Reid isn’t the monster his father was and he’s dealing with a mystery of his own. The ending was twist after twist that has left me gasping for breath, and now I’m desperate to find out what will happen next. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author.
This was a excellent book. I was sucked in from page one and couldn't put it down. I love Tasha and her snarky attitude. I really can't wait to see where the author goes with this story after that ending.
This is a great beginning! A fast paced, well written story that draws you in and keeps ahold! Tasha is a great character, a strong and totally kick ass assassin who wants revenge against the alpha of a wolf pack. Reid is said alpha hot and sexy but who also turns out to be her fated mate! It’s a great read and their chemistry is off the charts and I cannot wait to read the next book.
This is book one of the Moon Kissed series and the main character is Tasha Ward, an assassin who can disappear like a chameleon and is known as ‘Wolf Hunter’, due to her main targets. Her younger sister Carmen was taken some six years ago and she has been training herself to get revenge and kill the alpha of the Redcliff Wolf Pack. When she finds herself back in her hometown, for the first time since her sister was taken, for a job to kill a dangerous vampire, she ends up getting another job offer as well. The head witch of the Bushon coven wants her to kill the current alpha of the Redcliff pack, something that aligns with her own plans. Each year, one witch is sacrificed to the wolf pack, so the wolves can take the witch’s magic and strengthen their wards. In return, the wolves help keep away any more dangerous foes, from coming to town. This has been an agreement first started hundreds of years ago and continuing to the current day. Mae, the head witch, no longer wants to allow her witches to be sacrificed, as more of the witches have been getting taken, outside of the agreed ceremony. Mae makes a job offer Tasha can’t refuse and Tasha is put forward as the latest sacrifice for the wolf pack. But she hadn’t realised that the old twisted alpha is dead and has been replaced by his middle son, Reid Holden. As she is being taken, she starts to fight back, but hesitates at just the wrong time and he manages to inject her with venom, putting her to sleep immediately! Reid has struggled to get the packs following after his father’s death. Some of the pack decided to leave, as Reid doesn’t agree with doing things like his father, nor following the traditions he did. He has to protect his pack and they expect him to sacrifice the new witch and bolster the magic used for their wards and for protection. Tasha tried to kill him, but he can’t hold her as a prisoner in their camp, as his own wolf wants to claim her as their mate! She tries to escape, but soon finds there is something dark going on in his home. She shares that with him and they soon come up with a plan to search for clues. She soon finds herself falling for him as well, realising he is nothing like the alpha she thought she was targeting. Reid’s older brother Julius should have been the new alpha, but he is too much ruled by his wolf to be able to rule the pack, whilst his younger brother Liam is a quiet bookish type. All of them suffered under his father’s rule and how abusive he was, even to his mate and sons. It seems some in the pack are not willing to follow Reid’s rule by the way some of them have to be warned to do as he says, including Julius. Just who is responsible for the oppressive darkness Tasha could sense and who is trying to get rid of him, is something the two of them need to explore. He has given her certain freedoms around his pack members and they are questioning his actions. What actually happened to her sister and if she is still alive, is still a question Tasha wants answered. She has thrown in with Reid to investigate the strange death of his mother and how that might be connected with witch magic and what secrets the coven is keeping form her! They are both in real danger, but neither of them expects what is coming. A cliffhanger of an ending, with so much going on, I can’t wait to read the next one in the series! I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
Wolf Hunter is the first book in Moon Kissed, Harper Brooks newest series. This dual perspective paranormal romance centers on a pink haired assassin and her target, the alpha of the Redcliff pack, both are morally gray and the attraction is real along with the hate, so fun times ahead.
Tasha is a witch but you wouldn't know it with the way she wheels her weapons of choice to take out her targets. Tasha is a badass assassin with amazing skills and a snarky attitude I couldn't help but love. The woman is fierce, relentless, and a little reckless in the search for her sister.
Hired by the witches in her old coven, Tasha's next target is the Reid ***, the alpha of the Redcliff pack and the ones who took her sister. Reid is a strong alpha but doesn't have a strong handle on his wolves. The pack has some messed up traditions that have skewed his perspective a little bit and irked me but overall he's not that bad of a guy and is growing on me. Reid wants to change things but the pressure from his pack and the loneliness that he feels makes things hard, it kinda make my heart go out to him. She's jaded thinking of all the angles while Reid starts to fall for her first. The chemistry between the two is undeniable and I have a feeling they were meant to be.
There were a couple of plot holes, they would say one thing and then say something else to contradict that and I'm a little confused about some things but for the most part the plot was good. There is a weird contract, shady witches, bloodthirsty wolves, kidnapping, murder, and a whole lot of mystery. I need more backstory and information but one thing is for sure, Reid and Tasha know that they can't trust anyone but they are starting to trust each other. A whole lot is going on but nothing makes sense and they need help to put the pieces together.
By the end everything was a crap show, with a couple of plot twist that has my brain on fire. Wolf Hunter has sucked me in, the intrigue is great, the steam even better. I have so many questions, about Tasha's childhood, about what the pack hiding, about what the witches are up to, about the contract and so much more. I'm looking forward to figuring things out as the series goes along.
A new series by a relatively new author to me. But as I enjoyed her last book I decided on another by her. This one is totally different from the last book I read of hers. And I loved it.
Tasha is an assassin, a hunter renowned for her hunting skills. But her true objective is to find and kill the alpha that took her sister. She’s getting closer, honing her skills until the day she can dispense her own brand of justice!
Reid being the new leader of his fathers wolf pack brings its own issues. A strong and fearless leader he might be, but changing pack politics and traditions will take time, and not all the pack members want the changes!
It’s hate all the way for Tasha, she can’t nor won’t trust Reid. Reid on the other hand has mixed feelings about this witch, she stirs things in him that will only cause trouble!
It’s a great story, and one I can’t wait to continue. Both Reid and Tasha are great characters, both strong, both independent, but both wanting more out of life. Neither of them expecting to feel the way they do about the enemy. Julius (Reid’s older brother) is an interesting character, what side will he fall on? Good or just out for himself? Liam ((Reid’s younger brother) is a poet, a sensitive soul, but he’s hiding something too! And with double crossings and betrayal around every corner, who can Reid really trust? Magic and mystery is the thread in this book. Reid needs magic to keep the shields up that protect his pack lands, but with Tasha telling him there is something wrong within the pack, Reid is going to need more than magic to keep his pack together. So when Tasha and Reid form a tentative alliance (she wants to find her sister, he needs a spy) you know it’s going to spell trouble.
The book gets you involved, you look at each character and wonder are they hiding something. You also have the main characters deal with their own issues and attraction to one another. And when an opportunity to escape arises, will Tasha actually want to go?
And the way this book ends! It had me yelling at my kindle!
I couldn’t put it down. I highly recommended read. And one I’ll be continuing…..
No!!!! I couldn't have finished the book!!!! I want more, more, more!!! Especially with THAT ending!!! Ok, I'm taking a breath, promise...so, Vampires, check, sassy assassin hunter, check, humour, check, wolf shifters, check. Everything I enjoy in a book. It had me giggling from the first page, that's definitely how to grab my attention. Tasha is the most divine character, I absolutely love her snarky comments and attitude, which never abates throughout the book. Although she is a witch, she is not affiliated with any coven, preferring to go solo. She has one agenda, to find her sister who was abducted by a wolf pack and kill the Alpha, so she resorts to becoming an assassin in an attempt to hunt down those responsible for her sister's abduction. When she is offered the opportunity to infiltrate the wolf pack, she thinks she's one step closer to her goal but of course, when do things ever go smoothly or according to plan? Once inside, she finds that the Alpha is not what she expected. As she's more and more convinced something isn't right, she starts questioning the motives of the witches and their actions. Reid is just the sweetest guy ever, dangerous, yes, but he had a heart of gold. He's definitely nothing like his cruel late father and Reid would do away with the sacrifices if he could. I loved the love/hate relationship that develops between Tasha and Reid, totally forbidden of course, but the clash of wills and the underlying sexual tension is delicious! Who to trust, who not to trust, huh, it appears one can't trust anyone! Not the witches nor the wolves who all have hidden agendas of their own. Loved the fast pace, without losing me for a second, so much so, that I was distraught, genuinely, to have reached the end of the book. This is a book that is unputdownable! I sincerely hoping the next book comes out very quickly, I'll try be patient, I'll REALLY try!
Wolf Hunter, the first book in the Moon Kissed Series by Harper A. Brooks was absolutely amazing and will draw you in deep into its web send you reeling with emotions! This book has it all! Fierce sexy characters, fabulous world building, intriguing plot, endless mysteries, kidnappings, murder, secrets, adventure, twists and turns and of course magic and shifters!
Tasha, our fearless FMC, is an assassin on a mission to hunt down evil supernaturals with the latest job infiltrating the Redcliff pack, the pack responsible for taking her little sister, Carmen, and killing the new alpha, Reid. Wanting answers about the past and her missing sister, Tasha accepts the job. However, little does she know that that single decision is about to change her life for good because Reid is so much more than she bargained for and she soon becomes his captive….
Meanwhile Reid found himself taking over a pack with a dark history and stuck in a deal he wants no part of and is willing to change. Unsure of what to do or who to trust, his life is suddenly turned upside down with the appearance of Tasha—someone that he instantly finds a connection to. Tossed together by fate, they now both fund themselves forming a truce and having to learn to trust and lean on each other as they work together to find out the truth about what’s really going on.
If paranormal shifter romance stories are your thing, especially ones with bloodthirsty vengeful wolves, questionable witches dealing out shady contracts and hot as hell MCs with trust issues….then definitely give this one a try. I loved that it was told in dual POVs so we got to see a bit more into each of these characters feelings and emotions. However, be warned, this book does end in a cliffhanger—but man is it worth it!!! Book 2 can’t come soon enough!
This is the first book I've ever read by this author and I found it a nice change to the usual shifter story ♡
Tasha is a hunter more specifically she's known as The Wolf Hunter but she'll hunt anyone for the right price. She called back to her hometown of Maine to take out a vamp causing havoc in the town, she vowed she'd never come back until she was ready to take out the local Alpha after her sisters disappearance. The local coven which technically is hers though her parents tried to keep separate as much as possible and the local pack have had a long standing contract magic for protection. Each year a witch sacrifices their magic to the pack in exchange for protection. But the wolves have started taking more than they're meant to and women have been disappearing from the town. The coven hires Tasha to go in and kill the Alpha and so she poses as the next sacrifice but Reid straight away senses something is off and Tasha proves it when she trys to fight him off only to be knocked out with his venomous bite and hauled back to his pack. Reid knows Tasha was sent to kill him but he wants answers as to why. All is not well in the pack and someone is working hard behind the scenes to try and unravel everything Reid is trying to do so he strikes a bargain with Tasha to help him find his problem and he'll help her find out what happened to her sister. The uncover some hidden secrets and a lot of undermining but nothing concrete. The more time Tasha and Reid spend together the more the line blurs for them. Reid believes the coven is behind the unrest and so sends Tasha back but will the witches believe she's completed her mission or has he sent her back to her death and now that their sacrifice is gone will the traitors in the pack turn on their Alpha once and for all.
Wolf Hunter is the first book in Harper A. Brooks’ Moon Kissed series. The author introduces readers to Tasha. She’s called the “Wolf Hunter” a nickname she’s earned from her kills. After a close call with a vamp, she’s approached by a witch from a coven she knows all too well. The opportunity presents itself to take out the new alpha of the pack that took her sister. This is it. The moment of revenge that Tasha has been waiting for, but can she go through with the hit? Questions begin popping up right and left and things just aren’t adding up. What is really going on and where is the truth in all this darkness? Wolf Hunter, for me, is a really slow-paced novel that takes awhile to really get interesting. Tasha is an okay character, but I would have liked it a bit if she had actually started the story “hunting” a wolf or at least giving me some actual scenes of her earning her nickname. I think that it would have added to the story. As it is, it doesn’t really make a lot of progress until much later in the novel. This novel could probably be classified as a “slow-burn” novel since the romance/steamy doesn’t take place for quite a while. There are sparks between the characters, but Reid especially knows the dangers that swirl around them. There are a few tense moments in this book that pop out some surprises. But the second half of the book is definitely more interesting than the first half. I’m really hopeful that now that the groundwork has been laid that the next book will be more interesting. I’m rating this book 4 out of 5 stars.
Moon Kissed is a combination of a great plot and annoying characters. Tasha is a witch who has become an assassin. I’m sure she is supposed to come across as strong and feisty, but her actions and emotions never made sense to me. She is rightfully distrustful of the MMC, but not only did she blow hot and cold, she was cold when she should’ve been hot and hot when she should’ve been cold. There were times when the MMC, Reid, would completely cross a line, and she would accept it, but then she would get angry and attack over misunderstandings. I can’t stand the misunderstanding trope and seeing the couple divide simply because she was angry at him for things out of his control was infuriating. Reid absolutely did things to get angry over, but she never got angry over the right ones. Reid was worse. He is utterly failing as alpha to his pack. He doesn’t come across as strong and powerful. He is weak and stupid. His people don’t respect him at all. We are supposed to believe his father has led the pack down a dark path, but he isn’t like his father and wants to fix it. The problem is he isn’t fixing it. He is floundering without a plan. For once in your life, stop being so thick-headed… Stop being sorry and start being angry. Even the other characters see it.
I kept reading because I was so intrigued by the mystery. Witches are disappearing, including Tasha’s sister, and no one seems to know why, someone is sabotaging the pack, and villains lurk everywhere.
Did I spend an entire Sunday reading this to satisfy my need for a good werewolf book? Yes. Was this amazing? No, but still so good and much better than the last werewolf book I had to push myself to read. This book has a promising start and I love me a good assassin character (not gonna lie, she didn’t seem all that in the first half with that vampire) but of course by some “miracle” she slips out of his grasp or whatever and succeeds the mission. That aside, I liked our Tasha character. Reid was likable and of course because he’s a softy at heart. World building was enough to understand the world and of course I had many questions that made me annoyed on why these characters weren’t asking the same things that I was throughout - I felt better about it when the characters finally started questioning my questions at the end of the book.
There wasn’t much focus on Reid’s pack life, very little was mentioned but I had a good understanding - it just felt a little nonexistent since we’re in the magical room or house that Tasha was in for half the book. Again, can we just get a fmc that doesn’t get stupid or drop all logic every time we come across a sexy mmc? I wasn’t as annoyed with the way this was presented but bothered me enough to mention it. Their instant chemistry didn’t feel forced since dialogue was actually not cringe. It felt fast but hoping for things to be explained more in book two We left on a nice cliffhanger and I may invest time in the second book.

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "WOLF HUNTER" I live thus series Harper A Brooks did a great job writing this book so full of suspense, intrigue, mystery, angst, secrets, danger, twists you didn't see coming a page turner to the end. Tasha Ward exists as a phantom going from place to place blending in being invisible a skill for a deadly assassin but niw she wants to be seen. Tasha sister Carmen went missing she want the Alpha of Redcliff Wolf Pack see her as she plunges a knife through his heart hired by Mae leader of Witch Coven to kill him. Tasha meets new leader of Redcliff Pack Reid Holden who doesn't agree with his father's traditions especially sacrificing a women once a year Tasha hesitates something is pulling her to him she doesn't understand its never happened before ever. I definitely recommend to get this exciting read Tasha finds there's so many secrets in the Redcliff Pack & Reid is drawn to her can't hate her even though she there to kill him. I'm so looking forward to the next book in this series to continue Tasha & Reid's journey to see what's going to happen next.
I did not finish this book. I was really excited for this book because I'm craving an enemies to lovers romance, but I DNF'd for these reasons: (1) Tasha was a cut-and-paste from at least 2 other books I've read: cocky, with identical inner dialogue, and extreme overuse of the words shit, fuck, and damn. Reading her made my mind wonder, thinking of another book with a character exactly like her. (2) It struck me as strange that she's been training to kill the Alpha for 6 years, but until the witch commissioned her to kill the Alpha, Tasha made no action on her own to kill the Alpha, even though she'd been training for 6 years to do just that. Gives me the feeling if the witch had never commissioned her, she never would have gone to kill the alpha, yet would have continued to train to do just that. (3) when asked why the coven didn't leave the area and relocate to keep themselves from being attacked by the wolves, Mae declares "This is our home" which is a flimsy excuse and failed to convince me, especially when they used to be a "powerhouse" and now only 12 remain. "This is our home" is not a strong enough reason to stay and keep getting attacked.
Tasha Ward is a deadly assassin training for the biggest mission of her life: save her sister from the cruel Redcliff wolf pack. If she can kill the Alpha, she will be victorious. But the problem is she's captured and there's a lot more going on with the sexy Alpha Reid Holden and his corrupted pack. If Tasha can find out what's going on, she might uncover what really happened to her sister, but that means working with the enemy.
This is an awesome beginning to the Moon Kissed series. Tasha isn't perfect, but she kicks butt and is focused on finding her sister. She holds on to the hope she's still alive after all these years. When her family's old coven asks her for help killing the Redcliff Alpha, Tasha is eager to do the one thing she has always wanted to do. Except the Alpha is new and he's sizzling hot. Reid is doing the best he can with the pack, but most of them would like to see him dead. I don't know if the real threat is from the coven or the pack or both or even something else, but I love how tangled everything is. The book ends on a big cliffhanger, and the plot itself feels like it has just started, but it's a fantastic hook.
Give me a female assassin and I'm going to devour that book. But this one fell flat like a deflated balloon for me. I understand wanting justice/revenge, but even from the beginning I found the wifches as suspicious as the wolves. I feel like I didn't build any connection with any of the characters, even the mains Tash snd Reid. I just felt such a massive disconnect with the entire book. I feel mean because I could have just given up and moved on rather than finish to write a negative review, but I kept waiting in the hopes that something wojld happen to grab me. The mystery was just too much for me, I don't even want to continue thr series for answers and given that I'm a super curious person that needs closure, that's saying a lot.
This isn't negative in the context of it being so bad that I'd beg everyone not to read it. More of me personally having issues with connecting. If I feel like I'm actively reading a book, rather than becoming absorbed in the world of it- something's wrong, for me.
This book really has me hooked. Tash is a very successful assasin and is asked by her old coven to kill the wolf alpha, to release them from an annual sacrifice. She's more than happy to so that she can find the answers to her missing sister. There are definitely strange things going on, at both the coven and the pack. Neither side trusts the other, and I'm not convinced they can trust anyone on their own sides either. Reid and Tash form a truce as they try to work out what's going on. Took me a little while to warm up to Tash, she's been on her own for so long I think she's forgotten how to be friendly with anyone. Poor Reid just seems exhausted with everything that's been happening to his pack, unsure who to trust or how to move the pack away from his father's influence. This has me totally pulled into the story, there is so much I want to know but with everything they find out, it just leads to more questions. With the way book 1 ends, I need to get my hands on book 2 ASAP!
The dissention among the pack, the secrets of the coven, the emotional connections of our two MCs makes this book an entertaining read from start to finish. I get the "us against the world" vibe from our main characters right away. Tasha and Reid have excellent chemistry despite all of their differences. Reid seems to achieve the perfect balance of strong alpha and compassionate partner. The fact that Tasha is struggling with her magic and her invisibility is on the fritz, which I think will be interesting to learn more about as the series goes on. I also find the traits of the wolves very interesting - like the venom in their bite for example. I will say that I actually really appreciated that the plot of the book made significant progress in the first book of a series. Lots of unanswered questions remain and we are left wondering how our characters will endure onto the next book!
Tasha and Reid are enemies and are thrust together because of antiquated rituals and agreements. Their love shouldn’t happen and yet as it developed it’s clear to see they are meant to be despite their differences. Tasha after all is a descendent of magical parents, a wolf hunter and Reid an alpha wolf who just wants freedom from the weight of his obligations. Both want change but neither trusts the other. Will they be able to save each other before it’s too late? I absolutely loved this book!! The twists and turns were awesome and the characters were well written. The book ended on such a cliffhanger that I will not be ok until I have the next book in my hands!! If you love spicy paranormal romance with witchcraft and wolves you will adore this book!.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
