When Rand Colby’s fiancé is killed by four escaping bank-robbers, Rand takes up the mission of finding the men who killed her. During his search, Rand befriends Charles Holiday, owner of a hotel/saloon/brothel in Laramie. Charles is shot, and his dying wish is for Rand to go to St. Louis to find his niece, to whom he is leaving his business.
Carrie Holiday, Charles’ niece, lives at the New Life Orphanage where she worked as a governess. It is no mere coincidence, for when she was a baby, she had been left at the home by Charles, the uncle she was unaware existed.
When Carrie reaches Laramie she learns that what she thought was a hotel was also a saloon and brothel. She immediately makes some changes and turns the extra space into a community meeting room. As Carrie struggles with the hotel, she is helped by her uncle’s lawyer whose “help” may lead her into bankruptcy so he can take over the hotel for himself.
In the meantime, Rand continues his hunt locating and bringing to justice the bank robbers, one at a time. When Carrie is kidnapped, Rand, who has found all but one of the men who killed his fiancé, must put his original mission aside to rescue her.

The trail of revenge is cold but leads to making a new friend, which veers to a new quest!
Rand Colby was a happy man, his fiance was due on the train, and they would be married soon. The train arrived, and there she was, Nora Stanfield, so beautiful and soon to be his wife. After their brief greeting, Nora told him that she needed to make a few adjustments to her wedding dress, and they headed for the dressmaker's shop. Rand was at the mercantile when shots rang out! Following, he notices a bullet hole in the dressmaker's front window; rushing in, frantic, he inquires as to where Nora was. The woman was beside herself and pointed to the back. He found her, a sweet smile on her face, but she had passed on. Rand swore his revenge on all that had caused this, and the story begins.
Join Rand on his revenge trail where he meets Charles Holiday only to have him on his deathbed, request Rand, to give his letter to his niece, his only relative…
What did I like? This book was fantastic, and it only goes to show you that your life can change in a heartbeat, or in this case, in the flight of a bullet. Indeed, Rand is a stubborn man with his heart encased in his revenge, but as with all men, when the arrow of cupid flies and pierces the heart, things can often change.
What will you like? The storyline is filled with action, emotions, heartache, stubbornness, and throw in some hardheaded romance. Our characters are different from your run-of-the-mill westerns, filled with problems and stubbornness. Throw in a very shady outlaw, and you have the makings of a delightful story. You won’t want to miss Robert Vaughan’s latest book, “Cold Revenge,” available NOW!!!
WOW, Loved it! This book was absolutely incredible, I could not put it down, so I didn't! Definitely a must read, excitement galore, secrets revealed and lots of drama throughout this book, lots of action packed scenes and moments of sadness and joy. So don't miss this book it was wonderful and the Author has you turning those pages into a beautiful Western Adventure Novel! 📚🤠🐝🎶
This book was interesting, and a whole new twist than the average story you read. It does not have filth or bad language, nor explicit sex. It has a excellent story base that keeps the interest until the very last page. I give this a five star because it is well deserving.
This was a bit predictable at the end but a very enjoyable read... I liked Mr. Vaughans writing style and I really liked his understanding of the time period. My favorite stories are westerns and I liked this one very much. I will be following him and reading more of his stories. Maybe there's a follow up story to Carrie and Rand, we will see.
I truly enjoyed this Western. It was action packed but it still had a romantic side. Our heroes like to eliminate the evil in the world, However, they also love to romance the ladies, and do the right thing.
A very good spellbinding book! I enjoy a book that you don't want to put down have read Robert Vaughan's books and they never seem to have a lot of cussing and words that I dislike, it's uncalled for to get the point across! Keep up the good work!
Another great Western adventure from Robert Vaughan! I’ve read about fifteen of his books and they’re really hard to put down. He has a way of keeping the suspense alive and mysterious at the same time!
This started off OK. But then the guy abandoned the girl, which made no sense, and the story became completely unappealing. The guy was insensitive, the girl was stupid, and there was no chemistry. The story was threadbare, and the characters were very shallow. There was not even any interesting action, which you normally find in cheap westerns.
What a surprise to think I was getting a western novel only to discover it’s more like a harlequin romance. I read in short time. Knew within first few pages how it would end
