Bullets Over Bedlam

Rate this book
Once a lawman, always a lawman. The only variation is whose laws you follow.

U.S. Marshal Flagg is not going to let Gideon Hawk, once deputy marshal, now Rogue Lawman, slip through his fingers. He follows Hawk to his hideout in Bedlam, determined to catch him. But he doesn't know that Hawk has the help of an old nemesis on his side, a woman who knows the feel of his touch-and the feel of a gun. And what he doesn't know could hurt him.

Most adults westerns are typically about sex and violence, but this book was different. Bullets over Bedlam was about violence, then sex, then violence, then sex, then violence, then violence again.

Peter Brandvold – Rogue Lawman Bk 4 – Bullets over Bedlam – Reviewed 3/7/22 – Read 3/2/22

Hawk is working for the good, but he still has the law on his back trail, one US Marshal Flagg!

Gideon Hawk goes after some bank robbers, who had also kidnapped the banker’s daughter. He located them and returned the money to the bank owner. Deciding to spend the night before heading back to his hideout in Mexico, he is surprised by a visit from Saradee Jones during the night.

US Marshal Flagg arrives too late and only finds Saradee, alone and asleep in Hawk’s room. Deciding to apply his type of interrogation, he had no idea what a big mistake this would be for him in the near future. Unable to obtain any information from her, he joined up with his men, that had been looking for Hawk’s tracks. They found the trail due to a new shoe the blacksmith had told them about, and they headed out trailing him. The story begins.

Now join Hawk as he has reached his hideout only to find men waiting for him…

What did I like? This series has turned out to be incredibly interesting. I liked Hawk initially and could understand his mixed feelings, knowing that he was there because of politics and not being able to do anything about it. The sad part is that being a lawman was all he ever knew or even wanted to be, so he continues, a little legal and sometimes not so much.

What will you like? Holy cow, the action will astound you, the length that Flagg goes is way over the limits, the emotional position that Hawk finds himself in will have your heart beating to the tune of young love, and the emotional impact will break it! Indeed an excellent read that you won’t want to miss adding to your Western library. The next adventure in the Rogue Lawman series, Peter Brandvold’s “Bullets Over Bedlam,” is available NOW!!!

If you have been keeping up with the series, you know that Gideon Hawk was a US Deputy Marshal, who believed in truth and justice. He was very, very good at tracking the bad guys and bringing them to trial. This was true, even when an outlaw hangs his son and his wife hangs herself in her distress. Then a crooked prosecutor and judge let him go free, and Gideon starts dispensing his own brand of justice. It doesn't end, when he kills the murderers responsible for his loss. He was so good at killing murderers and rapists, he became The Rogue Lawman and the territorial governors issued a death warrant for him. The problem is, some of the self righteous lawmen that went after him, didn't care how many innocent people got killed or injured while they tried to track him. Big mistake on their part.

Hawk & cooper

Hawk like cooper’s Hawkeye can hear the fart of butterfly at 100?. Bah humbug! Ok for a Saturday matinee, but never the main feature.
