False charges. Smooth-talking swindlers. A fierce fighter cursed with the need to stamp out injustice.Colorado, 1870. Will Logan is delighted with life. Ready to tie the knot with his sweetheart, the former soldier doesn’t know what the dickens is going on when he’s suddenly arrested for desertion. And despite his willingness to present proof of his innocence, he fears the short-fused judge would rather see him swing.
Narrowly escaping a bloodthirsty lynching, Will’s reluctance to leave a friend in trouble turns his exit from jail into a cross-country gallop to confront a silver-tongued con man. But when he reaches Texas, the loyal cowboy faces a posse of hired gunmen and clever lies that once again puts him on the wrong side of the law.
Could his passion for the truth leave him hanging high?
Troubled Season is the action-packed fifth book in the Logan Family Western Series. If you like frontier heroes, evocative settings, and stories spurred on with humor, then you’ll love Donald L. Robertson’s wild ride.
I am a retired Southwest Airlines pilot. My wife Paula and I, live with our Chihuahua, Gabe, in Mesa, Arizona in a 55+ Golf Resort even though we don't play golf. It affords my wife a very active lifestyle while I spend my time writing. As a child, I enjoyed going to the Saturday matinee and spending the day watching westerns and daydreaming about the old west. I shared a passion with one of my aunts and read every western I could get my hands on. John Wayne was my favorite actor and Louis L'Amour my favorite writer. I miss those days where the good guys win, they treat the ladies right, have honor and are trustworthy. So, in about 2014, I started writing my own westerns and became quite shocked that people enjoyed them. I am so thankful to those of you who read my books, take the time to write reviews and email me. John Wayne said it best when he said "without you, I wouldn't be here". Please accept my deepest appreciation.
"I'M THE BILL COLLECTOR, AND I'M READY TO COLLECT."

"THE LOGAN CURSE, ALWAYS BENT ON HELPING OTHERS" IS ON STEROIDS DRIVING THE LOGANS FROM COLORADO TO MEXICO.
If you go after a Logan, family member of a Logan, friend, or some innocent person who is unable to defend and protect themselves, watch out, if a Logan is around they'll come for you and there is nothing that's going to stop them from dealing out their form of justice. Will Logan is no exception to the Logan motto. In fact, he's just about the worst one to go up against other than his uncle Floyd. Between Will, his uncle Floyd, his brother Callum, and the rest of their family and friends, if you pick a fight with one, you've picked a fight with them all.
Troubled Season: A Logan Family Western - Book 5 (Logan Family Western Series) by Donald L. Robertson is a well-written addition to the Logan family saga that will keep you on your toes with the action and intriguing situations the characters find themselves in in the mid eighteen hundreds. The characters are what are easily ones anyone would find themselves relating to and the way Donald tells his tale you will find yourself drawn into their struggles and triumphs from the first book in this series to the last with this fifth book being no exception.
I have truly enjoyed reading each and every one of these books including the sixth book in this series and hopefully Donald will continue this series or start up a new series branching off with another one of the Logans being the main character with the previous main characters of the Logan coming in to help save the day.
Quotes:
"A man is a man, doesn't make a bit of difference what his color is. Treat folks like you want to be treated."
"Floyd Logan had little patience with men on the wrong side of the law and had sent several to meet their maker."
"My mama always said a man's got to feed an appetite so it don't devour him."
"It ain't for us to know what drives evil men. The only thing we can do is make sure they don't harm other folks."
"I'm the Bill collector, and I'm ready to collect."
…piece of writing. I’ve enjoyed the fictitious history of the coastal bend of Texas. It caused me to discover that Tilden had been Dog Town. Made me curious why you chose to travel so far north before heading to Galveston. But it made for a delightful chapter of travel. Looking forward to book 6 of the series.
Book 4 & Book 5 were great entertainment for my 10 hours of driving on a quick trip from north Texas to Gonzales.
Donald L. Robertson after a few books on the early days of Floyd Logan's mountain man adventures, returns to the post Civil War old west, focusing more on Josh and William Wallce Logan and cohorts, including an older but still scrappy Floyd. This one was a barn burner from the start and I'm reluctant to tell too much and start unraveling the plot before it's time. If you like good traditional old west range war stories with showdowns, tension action and western adventure you can't go wrong here. I have to say this new book is a classic Donold L. Robertson story and I'm already looking forward to the next one.
Book 5 is mighty fine. How much more can happen to Will.
Add a snake bite to the long list of Will’s misfortunes. Oh well, he survives and recovers from everything. Will leaves his bride to help his partners get their ranch back. Book six is the last book in this series. I am a little sad that the series ends there. Looks like we will keep reading about Will. No story for Kate, Collin, and Brett. This series could have been longer. I hope there are updates on Josh’s family, the mother and the rest of the family. Will is great don’t get me wrong. It is unbelievable how much he has gone through and survived. Looks like he is going to go through a lot more in the next book.
Another excellent chapter of the Logan family saga.
I have awaited the author's next work with excitement. The Logan family represent the strength of this country's pioneers. The characters are well developed, and the reader can easily distinguish the good guys from the bad guys. The author's description of the Texas and Colorado scenes are spot-on and enjoyable. The adventures are tense while enjoyable. If you like a western page turner, this book will deliver!
Donaldson weaves the best western stories. He integrated two stories into one and kept us straight with the main character having two names. The background of west Texas was real. I could taste the dust and feel the heat. Sad to know there is only one more story in this saga.
Almost every book series I've read is based on the initial success of the first book. Then the remaining books dwindle in satisfaction. The Logan family series has gotten better with each book. It is truly a saga! Mister Robertson is a very talented story teller.
Lots of action and a good story line .Not vulgar and written with a different twist to it . Not your usual bang bang shoot em up western. Didn't want to put it down . can't wait for the next Logan adventure.
Donald Robertson is one of my favorite writers, and I hate having to wait for his next book. I read lots of writers, and have read lots of westerns. In my mind, Robertson rates right up there with with Louis L'Amour. If you like a good western, you will like Donald Robertson.
The characters are familiar; their ethics and character are sound and worthy of emulation. I have enjoyed each book of the series. I really like Mr. Robertson's writing style and creativity. I highly recommend this book and th series.
Donald L. Robertson & The logan Family win again !
Another logan Family winner by one of the best western writer's out there ! This is another story of Good people triumphing over evil doer's of the west.
I've read all of his books and all are excellent. This is no exception! Great characters, spectacular landscape, quality writing and an always interesting storyline make for an excellent reading experience!
This series has had so many twists and turns I can't believe it. The Logans are incredible with so many different personalities yet they all pull as one. Great reading and never boring. Well 8m off to read book six.
I enjoyed this Classic Western. A continuation of Book 4. Good action, and beautiful descriptions of the scenic landscape. Warm romance and close family relationships. Will gave several cowboys a second chance, very heartwarming. I highly recommend this Western.
Love how the words and excitement flow. Its hard to visualise how hard life was back then except for authors that bring it all to life. This is a great book and very exciting.
I took this series on vacation to Mexico and couldn't put this one down. I just finished #5, and I'm moving onto the next one. I have enjoyed reading about the Logan's. Good storytelling! I 🖤 the series
The Logan family journeys and adventures continue. Glad William is back, married, and on his way to his wife. Floyd is still living and Cal needs a wife.
Great main characters along with family and wife. Good to go back and visit old characters and new characters and plots can’t wait to read the next story
Excellent read, full of adventure, intrigue, integrity and grit - and of course the evil who eventually received their justice! Highly recommend this book.
