Our family is broken. Our hearts are shattered. Everything we’ve been fighting for is slipping through our hands like mist.
Darkwinter fae murdered one of my mates. Traitors on all fronts threaten to obliterate the last of our hope. And the Dark Goddess won’t stop coming for us until she drains the last of my magick and reclaims Midnight for herself.
But as much as I’d love to curl up under a blanket and wait for death, I can’t give up now. Not on our home. Not on my monsters.
Hudson, Jax, Evander, Elian, me… We belong to each other, and we’re going to fight for our family. To keep fighting no matter what our enemies conjure up next.
Because as vile as those enemies may be, there are worse things lurking in the darkness. And it’s high time the villains of Midnight learn just what happens when a pissed-off Scorpio blood witch desperate to protect what’s hers finally gets a taste of true power...
Sarah Piper is a witchy, Tarot-card-slinging paranormal romance and urban fantasy author. Through her signature brew of dark magic, heart-pounding suspense, and steamy romance, Sarah promises a sexy, supernatural escape into a world where the magic is real, the monsters are sinfully hot, and the witches always get their magically-ever-afters.
Readers have dubbed her work “super sexy,” “imaginative and original,” “off-the-walls good,” and “delightfully wicked in the best ways,” a quote Sarah hopes will appear on her tombstone.
Originally from New York, Sarah now makes her home in northern Colorado with her husband (though that changes frequently) (the location, not the husband), where she spends her days sleeping like a vampire and her nights writing books, casting spells, gazing at the moon, playing with her ever-expanding collection of Tarot cards, binge-watching Supernatural (Team Dean!), and obsessing over the best way to brew a cup of tea.
4.4 stars. Well. This wasn’t a bad ending at all. I can’t say I loved it, because at this point I was sort of just finishing the series to finish it. I had already put so much time and effort into continuing with the series that it didn’t feel right to leave it unfinished.
I’m glad I didn’t DNF. The ending was very satisfying in that, of course, they won, and they all stayed together. Duh. It’s still romance.
The plot was ok in my opinion, I liked the out come but getting there was so tedious at times I couldn’t help but feel bored, and very tempted to skip ahead.
The sex was steamy and we got plenty of it. I just wish it was a tiny bit more detailed and that parts of it were maybe dirtier, as they appeared they would be in the TikToks I’d seen. But whatever. It was still hot.
The relationships were emotional wrecks. I mean except with Hudson, his relationship with Haley was immediate and easy because they were just made for each other. The others though took ages to stop hurting each other.
I mostly had a good time reading this series. Thankfully this last book didn’t tank and leave us at a shit place. I’m just sort of glad it’s over and I can go find something completely different.
It’s a good ending for the series, but I wish I had read it in one go and didn’t have to wait for this last book. I feel like I would have liked it more if I had read all books together. Nonetheless I liked the story and the characters are good, too. It doesn’t make it in my all-time favourites, but it’s really what I wanted.
I was eagerly awaiting this thrilling, steamy, emotional, action-packed conclusion to Sarah Piper’s The Witch’s Monsters series. The cliffhanger from the previous book left us readers distraught and shocked. Like, Haley we were hoping for a miracle, which we got at the end! The battle against Melantha is coming to a head and Haley and her monsters are on a race against time to find a way to defeat the evil goddess. This book was just was entertaining, steamy, angsty as the previous books in this series. I could not stop listening, especially with the phenomenal storytelling of Mackenzie Cartwright, Jason Clarke, Teddy Hamilton and Aaron Shedlock. They captured each characters emotions and personalities perfectly. Especially, Teddy Hamilton as Evander/Keradoc and Elian who had to go back and forth in portraying each of those three characters, sometimes in one scene, without missing a beat. I loved everything about this story and the chemistry among Haley and her monsters was scorching. This book was an action filled, emotional roller coaster that will have you crying, laughing and heart racing until the end.
ALC review - what an monstrously emotional climax ! Hayley and her monsters blew my mind with their bravery and dedication to one another, Evander and Elian’s paths of redemption had me rooting for them both, after 4 books i felt like a citizen of Midnight. Sarah Piper thank you for this powerful action packed and sexy story and these unconventional characters. Im as sad that its over as Im delighted with the HEA. Jason, Teddy, Aaron and MacKenzie you will always be my favorite monsters💕 Your talent is unmatched and you turned this story into a full sensory and immersive experience . Until next time, thank you Sarah Piper
Just when you think your heart absolutely cannot take any more, Sarah Piper digs it in a little deeper for just a moment more in this fourth installment of the Witch's Monsters series. We find Hailey and her monsters, plus Evander/Keradoc. All trying to pick up the pieces after the tragic loss of one of their own, Elian/Saint. All of them in shock of what happened. Hailey, especially did not want to believe Jax when he and Hudson told her the news. They still have a battle to fight and continue to do what they need to. I loved Death, the little witch. She was so unexpected and she cracked me up. Probably the hottest chapter was with Evander and Hailey. Like poof! My earbuds nearly melted with the growly voice of Evander. Shredded clothes, you name it. Wow! I didn't want to put this book down, desperate to know what was going to happen. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect ending. The audio. What can I say, these narrators took Sarah Piper's characters, which are already multi-layered and really took them to another level. Mackenzie, Aaron, Jason and Teddy were just amazing through this entire series.
This monstrous thrill ride got its perfect ending! I was glued to my seat the whole time to find out how this whole story will unravel to get Hayley and her monsters the perfect HEA. Although before they get there, Sarah gives us an epic action-filled showdown, deep and dark emotions that hit right in the feels, and many spicy sexy times with a very special, very steamy highlight.
Again, I cannot love this multicast more, whose voices kept us company through this riveting series. Mackenzie Cartwright, Jason Clarke, Teddy Hamilton, and Aaron Shedlock are incredible talents in their own right, and it was a pleasure of having them all in my ears telling Sarah´s fantastic story of a witch and her 4 red hot monsters!
Sarah is such a great writer, and she always lures me into her stories lets me get lost in these worlds, so yes, I absolutely recommend this series!
Blood and Magick is an epic ending to a grand series. I absolutely bow before Sarah Piper for this majestic masterpiece. I think I went through all emotions a reader can feel while reading this final book: I've been devastated, heartbroken, angry, flustered, relieved, excited, happy and so much more...
I've had an instant connection with some of these characters in the first book, while others had to grown on me, but now none of them are very willing to let go. I nearly jumped out of my seat when I saw the blurb for a next book by this amazing author; I couldn't resist checking the release date before writing this review.
While looking forward to new characters, I say goodbye to the Witch and her Monsters; until we meet again ;-).
This book was a clean conclusion to all the hanging plot threads, but it wasn't a very well-paced or satisfying read.
The book started with Elian's "death," but the angst was drawn out for over half the book when we all knew that he was going to come back due to their connections with Death.
Everything was resolved much too easily for the final battle. While the group did originally have difficulty trying to get the mountain fae to battle with them due to the gargoyle Hudson's past and their NIMBY attitude, it was a bit absurd for them to suddenly change their minds when the FMC Haley suddenly became super OP after unlocking her link with Midnight the realm. Melandra was built up to be this bad-ass goddess, but she was quite summarily defeated by Haley in a few pages with her new Mary Sue abilities, which was incredibly unsatisfying.
The prose was fine, but there were quite a few typos that showed a lack of editing. For example, "bain" was used instead of "bane," and "desert" was used instead of "dessert." Haley repeated quite a few times at the end how she felt that Midnight was her home, but she was enslaved and trapped in the castle IIRC... how would she have connected with the realm during her whole time there if she never interacted with any other residents at any point?
Overall, I could definitely tell this was a spin-off series due to the lack of context on her sisters and Death, but I am not interested in exploring more of the world based on this writing sample. ------ Ratings - completed series: #1 Blood and Midnight: ★★★★☆ #2 Blood and Malice: ★★★☆☆ #3 Blood and Madness: ★★★☆☆ #4 Blood and Magick (this book): ★★★☆☆
3.5. The writing is good but it went from a smutty fantasy action with lots of magic to really really sad and depressing with a lot of details. I still liked it but wasn’t expecting well over 100 pages of grief.
I really liked this series, the twists, turns, and the high emotion that literally dripped from their hearts. However, book 4 felt a bit rushed to me - for a 3 book build up, the climax and ultimate conclusion was just a bit too fast.
Usually by book 3 or 4 in a series I start feeling like the author is pointlessly dragging out the story and I end up skimming a lot just to find out what happens. This was not the case with The Witch's Monsters. Sarah Piper kept the story engaging and thrilling throughout all 4 installments of Haley's story.
I 100% would recommend this series to anyone who likes an excellent and exciting plot along with their spice. 🌶🔥 The plot was so well balanced with the spice that neither suffered and each s'xy encounter felt appropriate to the story. Well done, author! 👏👏👏
What a great conclusion to The Witch's Monsters series! Blood and Magick brought the whole story to a very satisfying, very steamy, absolutely perfect conclusion.
Sarah Piper left us with our hearts broken and teetering on the edge of insanity in the last book, and Blood and Magick picked up right where we left off. The story was amazing, with each of our main characters growing so much during this last book. The shock, the pain, and heartbreak - it was all here, and it was all so amazingly and lovingly crafted by Sarah Piper. These characters were so much more than the supernatural creatures they were on paper. They were even more than they thought they were themselves.
Every little detail was amazing - even the character of Death, who was a blip in the relative timeline of the book, but she was crafted with such detail, she was hysterical, and she stood out. That's what Sarah Piper gives us.
The audio was truly amazing, too. The all-star cast of top-notch romance narrators really embraced the characters and gave performances that were out of this world.
Blood and Magick is a FANTASTIC conclusion to this exciting story! I couldn’t put it down and listened straight through until after 3am. No spoilers, but Hailey really finds her power in this book. She has been a bad-ass blood witch all along, but she taps into some serious mojo! It’s very exciting with plenty of action (both fighting and seggsy business). The steam is off the charts with Hudson & Jax and their relationship has been strengthened. Also love the enemies to lovers with the twist at the end of the last book! This is everything I needed in the conclusion to this series!
Mackenzie, Jason, Aaron, and Teddy are all amazing top-notch performers, and they all bring their A game in this paranormal romance featuring witches, gargoyles, demons, vampires, fae, and any number of other “monsters” to save their world, protect each other, and strengthen their bond with steamy-steamy seggsy times beautifully performed with all the feels!!
The first book was so good I was eager to read the next book. 2nd book didn't keep the same excitement but explained backgrounds and I'm like ok. 3rd book was just horrible it was pretty much just humping in a cave... The cliffhanger is what made me decide to read the fourth book. This book didn't make no d##$ sense. Even how she was able to get her happily ever after had me still trying to mentally understand how that simple act made her powerful 🙄. Then the constant repetition of looking at them and describing them...I swear she ran out of what to write and just kept filling on space with the same description... Even the end of the book Evander does it. I'm like really?!! If by the the end you didn't know that one is a fae-vampire hybrid, a demon, a gargoyle, and a warlord you never paid attention 🤦🏽. This should've ended in book 2... No further than book 3. Maybe her first books are good anything after that is reaching.
The conclusion of Haley's story. She and her Monsters get their HEA.
I think the book would've been better if Haley, Evander, Jax, and Hudson hadn't spent the first two-thirds of the book sulking over Saint/Elian's death-- especially since, spoiler, he comes back from the dead.
The big showdown between Haley and Melantha was disappointing. We spent 4 books leading up to a big battle between the two powerful women just for it to go down in a few paragraphs. Haley pretty much walks up to her, grabs her neck, and sucks out her power. No Battle Royale. Melantha is all hype and intimidation but doesn't ever actually DO anything.
Spicy, spicy. We finally get some group love. It was a little off-putting that they all decided to get it on to the soundtrack of the city's people searching for survivors. But shmexy times are had. Everyone is happy. Queen of Midnight.

~*~ Audio Review ~*~ I could not wait for this book after the massive cliffhanger Blood and Madness left off on. I could not put this story down and I enjoyed every moment. It was entertaining, emotional and an overall great story. I loved the protectiveness that Haley had for her monsters and Mackenzie Cartwright really brought that out in her performance. Jason Clarke, Teddy Hamilton and Aaron Shedlock nailed their performances throughout this entire story. All four narrators brought this story to life capturing all the emotions of their characters. Another great series from Sarah Piper and an amazing listen.
I enjoyed this series, it had a good amount of action in it. in the begining of the series ..She ends up reaching out to her ex bf...a guy she loved so much that abandoned her while she was sleeping..& never contacted her again. She didn't want to reach out to him..bcuz he broke her heart. but badly needs a favor to go to a dangerous place. this book is a bit sad as well bcuz she's pining for him the whole time..& is so hurt by him leaving her years ago..they planned a future together & everything..& out of nowhere he just leaves. he hasnt told her why he left yet..since this is a series...we will find out eventually...after she asks for his help at his club, he reluctantly agrees..cuz he would never let her go alone. & she finds out he is half vampire..not sure how he turned... but then after she leaves his friend finds him high with two girls grinding on his lap...cuz he clearly just fed on them cuz he is a vampire..but i hated that..after seeing the love of his life...he has two women grinding on him..it pissed me off lol mind u he doesnt have sex with them..but still not the point..it was never specified if he stayed celebate all those yrs im guessing since he is a vampire fae ..he wasn't ..He did mention he was never lonely & women loved coming to him for fantasys? .so during there journey he flirts with her one minute then pushes her away..doesn't explain why he left her.. He leaves at the begining of there journey cuz he needs blood..& meets up with a old friend that he flirts with but never hooked up with...ya why does he need to flirt with her then? I'm starting not to like vampires...cuz in my opinion everytime when they feed off other women its always sexual..when he leaves to feed off other women..it's off page....but in my eyes he is having girls grind on him everytime he leaves the mfc side..& that just bothers me...but it isnt mentioned...just mentioned that he wants someone to feed from a human or fae blood is the best..i thought with mates..only his mates blood would be the best for him..but apparently its not as good as fae blood in this case.& human.. his mates a wich..so ya. Out of all the guys..I didn't like him at all.....I loved her gargoyle her mate he was smitten over her...and Jax the demon. I'm sure there pretty much all her mates..but while he keeps pushing her away for reasons unknown to us so far..his friends are bonding with her more throughout this book. it was hard to read about her vampire fae mates drug addiction, he was always struggling to be around her cuz of the curse..and popping pills. after he dies & is growing his body back his old friend that he flirts with finds him...& the scene just seemed intimate to me..she was putting her fingers through his hair & since he was growing his body back he was naked.. he kept making dick references to her..& flirting again with her..ya ew buddy thought u came back to life for ur mate..not flirting it up with ur friend again so n e who...he heals goes to find her they finallllly hook up cuz his curse is broken yay finally.. So they go to war..she ends up separating from her men.. & her man Jax the demon ends up fighting side by side with his ex gf...the whole time there fighting she's like we had fun together in the past right. hinting about there relationship history..& like seriously? did that even need to be put in the book. He didn't seem worried about where his mate was in the ongoing war..just that part was just meh..overall I did enjoy this series it had a good amount of action..I was sucked into it..read the books back to back..had trouble putting them down..but the series was a bit sad with her & her ex pining for eachother the whole time & his drug addiction. he was my least favorite in her monster group lol. the gargoyle will always be my favorite.

We start this book one man down and heartbroken. Sarah Piper really hit us hard with that one. But I'm pretty sure readers would revolt if a harem member was killed off, so you can probably guess that something miraculous happened. I will say that some good came out of Elian dying. It's one of those "you don't really miss it until it's gone" kind of moments for some of the characters. I think having Elian gone for a bit, especially after sacrificing himself for Jax really put things into perspective for Jax. Was Elian selfish all this time or was he finding a way to keep everyone together no matter what it took him to do so? The angry and resentful tension between Elian and Jax eased up. Even Hudson was able to reveal his traumatizing past that made him stop talking all those years ago. It all branches from Elian and how he was able to drag people out of their lowest low and save them enough to have a future, even if it was in Midnight.
I think one thing that I really appreciated in this series was that there were different types of bonds. In so many books you read it's either fated mates, magical attractions that pull someone toward the other, or simply making a choice to love someone. This book, however, had all three. I liked that even though some connections were more "destined" or pulled characters together because something inside them, that the ones that Haley chose to love weren't seen as lesser in any way just because they were fated.
The final battle wasn't quite what I expected, but I'm glad it ended the way it did, with our main characters being underestimated in the best of ways yet pulling out all the stops. People who crave power and think themselves to be so high above those around them are often overconfident with the idea that nothing can touch them. They get too cocky and when that happens, people are able to sneak in and catch them unexpectedly. Melantha had zero confidence in Haley's magical abilities and pretty much crowned herself queen before she even reached Midnight and without thinking it possible to lose. Because who could compete with the Dark Goddess herself? However, as Haley accepted her powers and she and her magic found its purpose, she discovered she was capable of incredible things, taking charge of the beings that represented death in some of its more obvious forms. The darkness was never something to be feared but instead embraced. There's beauty in darkness.
I’m already seeing I’ll not sleep tonight either because who needs sleep? I NEED ANSWERS !!!!! There’s no way in hell Elian died, IMPOSSIBLE . HE FUCKING DIDN’T DIE!!! Damnit !!! Every one of the guys… fuck their past? It’s so dark and full of pain and heartbreak.
Poor Hudson… fucking hell these guys have trauma for lifetimes. But I have a suspicion that maybe, MAYBE the family he couldn’t protect? The children? interesting . FUUUUUUUUCK!!!! I KNEW!!! I’m a damn genius.
Well… now I like the teenager girl that’s death hahaha damn I didn’t know her because apparently I didn’t listen to the previous books the one that tells the story of one of Haley’s sisters. I love Evander’s POV, I damn like him.
OK I’m a little disappointed with the ending, the battle at least… that was pretty bleh, no emotion or anything epic, just a normal fight that they just… guess what? won so damn easily… but this book was worth listening to, I love the characters they really got me, but that’s it the characters are wonderful and complex but everything else? nope we almost don’t have world building, the storyline is so-so, and the challenges? Looks big and impossible to win and then… they just pow win because suddenly Haley just has all the powers she needs, not a lot of development and all.
I didn’t like that Evander’s traumas weren’t really taken care of, what about the consequences? He was abused and shared between the nobles when still a child !!! will you tell me he can just go on and have sex with Haley and the others? With this kind of trauma ? And what about his “little” problem with Keradoc and his life being bonded? Well at least it was resolved, but I’m still disappointed with how fast and rushed the ending was…. But the SEX? Was amazing and the dirty talk??? Fuck yes.
I was bamboozled. I put myself through four books for that ending. Ugh, I have myself to blame for my choices!
Genuinely was expecting some epic battle between a rag-tag team of newly formed beings and an army of the dead. I feel like the battle scenes were more of a tell vs show scenario, where it became infuriating not being able to witness more from it. But the final battle between Hailey and the Dark Goddess was so anticlimactic.
This book took nearly 190 pages before any battle was presented, and halfway through I lost all hopes.
In this one expect a lot of smutt and some minor action with pointless repetitive details, cringeworthy writing with all the grammatical errors, and convenient moments with too much monologue and a quick resolve. The pacing dragged way too much in this one and at some point I just lost interest.
I still fail to comprehend certain events especially with the outcome of previous encounters. However, the unworthy investment I put into reading these books was too much for that distasteful ending.
Overall, I definitely won't be picking up anymore books from this author. I am done. While the quartet had interesting moments, I felt like it could have been better.
This was the fourth book and conclusion to this series. It was an action-packed nonstop ride as Haley and her guys were preparing for war.
After the ending of the last book (no spoilers) things are rough. Each of her guys is trying to deal with the aftermath, in the middle of also trying to see if they can find any help to combat the "legion of the dead" that is on its way. And, wouldn't you know it, Melantha is leading the charge. Her goal is to kill Haley and steal her power....AFTER she takes over Midnight and has also killed her men.
First of all, I need to mention the audio. This is the fourth book that we have the privilege of having some all-star voices join together for the narration. Narrators Mackenzie Cartwright, Jason Clarke, Teddy Hamilton, and Aaron Shedlock have made this series an amazing listening experience and this book is no different. I actually had to find the audio on Sarh Piper's website because the "official" audio wasn't out yet and she was offering it before it became available on Audible. THAT'S how much I enjoyed the narration.
So, this book lived up to the hype. It kept my attention and of course, there was a HEA. What more can you ask for?
Where do I start? This series had so much potential! However, the author needed a partner writer for the action parts. I also felt like the romantic scenes lacked something. They were rather short and often ended with the inner monologue of one of them going to a dark and depressing mood. It just took way to much away from the romance.
Frankly, I love drama.. love that turmoil in my books. However, these books had too much!! There was a lot of repeat meltdowns. It was almost like the author kept letting the characters get their head above water to only beat them unprovoked with a baseball bat. Kept me interested but she needed to tone down the “you can do this” lecture moments that happens every five seconds.
Idk if I’m explaining my point well….Think of the most over the top dramatic actor/actress you’ve seen in something and that’s how these characters come across. It just didn’t work for me. I wouldn’t pay for these books or read them again. They are just “ok”. They could have been one of the best with a collaboration with an action writer and a erotic writer.
I listened to the audiobook series as a whole book - Witch's Monsters Complete collection.
This was an action packed series of books. The narration was brilliant, I very much appreciate more than 1 narrator! The story was good, the spice was good and the ending was good! The world building was brilliant! The sadness at the end of book 3 & the beginning of book 4 - nearly broke me!😭 But it was all needed to get to the great ending! This is my first proper reverse harem book and whilst its not something I personally understand, she is a witch with a big heart!! I think there must be back stories somewhere and would be interested in reading those as well, I don't think you need to read those before you read this, as I didn't! I love the idea of Midnight, a plane of existence with all the weird and wonderful creatures, plants and weather that exist there. I would definitely recommend.
Fantastic ending of the series. It has been an unbelievable battle for the main characters as they struggle to get past their own fears, betrayals, illusions and finally clearly understand how they feel about each other and the final battle that needs to take place.
Elian, finally some sort of clarification as to his decisions and actions. Although it may seem like a very selfless act to sacrifice what you cherish the most for the sake of others, I still feel that it was kind of selfish on his behalf not to share his motives with the person he claims to love.
With this series, one needs to prepare for many twists and turns, unexpected circumstances and many secrets that remain hidden up until the last moment. Loved the series and for anyone, who enjoys their magic with sprinkles of darkness, the Witch's Monsters is so worth it.
“And there, in those sweet, off-key notes, I found my salvation.”
What a perfect ending to this series. Going into this book after the cliffhanger of book 3 I was ready for the heartache Sarah was about to deliver to me.
This book blew me away with how everything connected so well. You can see connections all the way back from book one and I was so impressed with the way the Sarah did it.
“If death was coming for us on this night, what better end than watching my witch burn us all to the freaking ground?”
Can I just say I love Hailey and her guys? This Harem is so unique with the guys have such different backgrounds yet they all mesh so well together. Chefs kiss*
All in all definitely one of my favorite series. 5/5⭐️ 3/5🥵
Another end to another amazing series I loved every minute of this series . I wasn’t sure what to expect going into this book after the cliff hanger from book 3 but Ms Piper redeemed herself and I’m a happy camper again. This took me on a rollercoaster of emotions seeing what Haley had to face and the fact she could lose everything had me sat on the edge of my chair biting my nails but everything turned out and Haley and her guys get their HEA. Blood and MagickSarah Piper
Epic Conclusion!! Amazing Series!! As I mentioned to Sarah, I have WTF’d a lot of cliffhangers, including the cliffy from Blood and Madness, but I have never WTF’d the first couple of chapters like I did these. The emotion that Sarah wrung out from me was next level. These books really kept you on pins and needles. High octane till the very end. The action, the world building, the characters!! I don’t want to give anything away but I can say that Haley is officially in my top 5 fave FMCs and her motley crew of men is *chef’s kiss*. Oh and the steam 🥵🥵🥵 A truly satisfying series!!
Actually too much sex, the plot didn’t move forward. Also, brothers having sex at the same time with FMC? One going down on her while the other was fucking her, equals 🟰 brothers balls in face?! And, I’m not a prude, but through the earlier books I think she lacked in the “consent before multiple simultaneous partners”-department. She never talked about that with Jax before getting busy with Hudson for example… Maybe it’s that weird thing Americans seem to have (at least in books) that it is ok to do whatever and however many people parallel in time as long as no one uttered the magic word “exclusive”? A strange custom for such a prude nation 😉

I binge read this whole series, and while this fourth in the series was, well, more of the same.... It lagged for me really hard.
There's a transition point heading into the third act that just... I don't know. I had to force myself to get through it. I think the pace of the books is so quick, it shouldn't have surprised me that we blasted through the big happenings (the big war) in this one. I think I just wanted more. I realize there was a lot to wrap up in this book, but I think this major event could have been more centered in the action of the book.
Overall, I did enjoy Haley and her monsters. I'll probably pick up more from this author.
