Have you ever had a crush on that one guy in school who everyone loves? Of course you have. I have too. I’m actually living that crush right now. And while I’ve been friends with Beck Callahan for a long time, I don’t think he sees me beyond friendship.
Okay fine, we had a minor—thing for each other in middle school, but that doesn’t count. We’ve changed a lot over the years. He’s become so popular. What am I saying? He’s been popular forever. Back in the day, twelve-year-old me hoped he would eventually be my boyfriend.
Alas, that was never meant to be, which is probably best. Middle school relationships crash and burn quick. He’s truly one of my favorite people, but I know now we could never make it as a couple. He’s him while I’m just…
Me.
So he’s my secret bae. The idealized boy who can do no wrong and proves himself time and time again that he’s absolutely, undoubtedly perfect. Dreamy.
The ultimate bae.
This is a compilation of short snippets from Beck Callahan and Addison Douglas' junior year in high school when they were seriously crushing on each other, before their story in MAKING HER MINE. Originally featured in my newsletter, I brought them all together in one place!
I am just going to let the title and chapter names speak for it self.
"When bae has thoughts". LOL AHHAHAHAHBA
Overall this book was not even bad but wow I got annoyed at how both of the main characters acted. I get that you are scared that the other person does not like you. But when everyone and their mother tells you they do, I think you should trust it.
The Callahan series is my all time favorite Monica Murphy series- she just immerses us so beautifully in this endearing family and friend group, but she also creates such a vivid, nostalgic and sincere depiction of all of those firsts that shape us- all the first love, first friends, first drama, and big emotions that come with growing up. I was so excited to get the baby Callahan's stories, the little brother Beck. We've gotten to see him as a kiddo, lovingly and humorously adding to his siblings' stories. And now we get his own, only Monica takes us further back, and primarily centers us in the eyes of his love interest (the little sister of a character we all already love). This quick read takes us back to the early days when a friendship forms- it's sweet, its fun, and it's the perfect appetizer for his full length story, Making Her Mine- Monica's cutest, most darling story of the bunch.
Very short intro to the full novel "Making Her Mine." Don't understand why the author didn't just write everything in one full novel. This one is basically much ado about nothing -- junior year of high school drama-fest. It's like I fell into teeny-bopperville -- not sure I'll move on to senior year.
I did learn what BAE means though! Hadn't heard that one. Must be dating myself with this confession. Anyhoo, not my bag -- I think I'm too far over the hill. I wish Kindle Unlimited didn't tempt me so easily.
This is a compilation of short stories that together make up the prologue to Making Her Mine which is available on January 13th!
I’m so ready to catch up with the Callahan’s. If you subscribe to Monica’s newsletter, you would have seen each one as she wrote them throughout 2021. Talk about buildup! Now she’s put them all here in this sweet novella.
I am so excited to see what Beck Callahan’s got planned to get his dream girl, the one he’s been crushing on since middle school. I think it’s going to be all sorts of sweet and swoony with some real bumps in the road ahead. Cannot wait for Beck & Addie, finally!
Typical teenager crushes , they both put each other in the friend zone and have relationship with OP because none of them thinks it's reciprocated . Good to have a glimpse on their past, and how they end up being with others. Let's hope i will like their book.
Remember when you had a crush? These are the nitty gritty details of everything that makes Addie’s eye shine and sparkle when Beck Callahan does, well, anything.
Very sweet and detailed novella leading to the release of Making her Mine.
I guess I didn't understand what this was....it is kind of like a journal with two POV. There's a few times that as dates expand that the author repeats earlier entries to freshen us up. It's quite different.
We know his parents and family and some of her family as well. It's comfortable but a bit strange. Not sure it's done either. No "The End". Hmmm.
Loved getting to see these two and their simmering attraction that is building between them. The glimpses and the back and forth will leave you swooning. Taking one back to a more innocent yet exquisite time where first love could be just around the corner. These two will leave you with your heart a flutter and swooning hard for these two as Addison and Beck’s future might lead to more as their story continues one the next book, Making Her Mine! Young love At its finest.
I can't tell you how much I love the entire Callahan series! But honestly, feels kinda creepy reading about the baby Callahan who was a mere child when I started this series! Weirdness factor aside, I love Beck!
When Bae... is a perfect intro into Beck and Addie's story! First love feels all around. 🥰
This is just what I needed until their full story/ book Making Her Mine is released. Their story is one of my favorites because it’s so sweet and pure. They both have so much respect and adoration for each other that it makes their attraction so much deeper. I can’t wait to see what Monica Murphy has in store for the baby of the family. Definitely, definitely worth it to buy this! I love every bit of it!!
Monica Murphy has managed to make this series feel like family. I have loved every book, watching these characters go through their own personal stories and I quickly read through When Bae today in anticipation of Making Her Mine. I am a huge fan of Monica Murphy and will be a lifetime reader and fan.
It was a short look into Beck and Addie's Junior year of high school. Addie came off as being pretty clueless and it wasn't always a good look. Beck practically told her (and at some points did tell her) and she played dumb. She claimed to have had a huge crush on him, but every time an opportunity presented itself, she chickened out. Have to say, I'm not overly enthused over her cluelessness and hope that in their next book she has some more common sense. The last chapter in Beck's POV was worth the read.
I read this bit in one sitting. It was such a great little snip-it. I don’t think I’ve ever read a true friends to lovers romance book, and I seriously think it’s one of my favorite tropes. I mean, I’m a teenage girl and of course I can relate to having a crush. you know when you get that feeling inside when having a crush and you just get so giddy and bubbly? this book literally explains all those moments for addie. I loved it when I first cracked open the actual book of addie and beck, I feel like I already knew everything about them. I knew the exact situation they were in, I knew that they were childhood friends, and it was like an opportunity to know more about them. if you weren’t to have read this book, you wouldn’t have known as much. 5/5!
When Bae is just a little preview of what is to come in Making Her Mine. This is just the start of Addison and Beck. You are going to fall hard for this sweet couple as they navigate the start of their attraction and balance their friendship while in relationships with other people. I loved this quick read so much. I could not get enough of Beck and Addison. This is where it all started for the youngest Callahan, and you will want to read Making Her Mine as soon as you can after this. Loved this so much. Go one click now.
This is a cute tidbits of the earlier years and makes “Making her mine” complete.
I am glad I got to read in details how Jonah was introduced, the almost kiss and the date that Beck said Addie turned down.
Though this was full of description of Beck’s abs, biceps, thighs, gorgeous face, etc. it gets kinda repetitive since almost every chapter it has that lmao. Other than that, this book just made me fall in love with Beck again.
Having read all the books in this series, I was familiar with Beck and Addison. This book was such a sweet start to their relationship. Beck decided he is with the wrong girl, and vows to do something about it. Which happens in the next book, which I’m ready to dive into.
Apparently this book is a compilation of short stories, all but one told from Addie's POV, each during a different time period during her and Beck's Junior year of high school.
Basically they are really good friends who crush on each other, but don't really do anything about it. And that's it.
Guess their actual story is in the next book: Making Her Mine.
Loved these moments between Addie and Beck, we got them in Monica’s newsletter but it was nice reading them all together before starting their main book, which I’ve been waiting a lot so I’m really excited to read it soon.
Another Callahan to fall for and the girl who does too!
This is a really sweet book about two kids finding their way and not rushing into a relationship. All the excitement and insecurity that comes with falling for someone that first time.
This is a novella of interactions between Addie and Beck during their junior year, leading into making her mine. It was cute, but slow. I’m glad I read it but it wasn’t my favorite in the series.
I can't wait for Beck and Addie's full story. This little teaser got me twisted up just enough that I NEED MORE! Thank goodness release day isn't too far off.
