**This is a prequel to Wildfire (Stargazer Ranch Mystery Romance #1) It is the beginning of Cat and Levi’s journey toward finding love.**
A deadly fire and a dangerous attraction.
Cat Lawson loves only two things. Her freedom and her motorcycle. But when she hears screams coming from a cabin on the ranch, she ignores the danger and dashes into a burning building to save a valued guest.
Levi Wilson has just started his job as the new park ranger. He risks his own life to dive in and save Cat from the flames, but she denies she needed rescuing.
He decides he’s never met a more stubborn, infuriating woman. She decides he’s a control-freak with a hero complex.
They learn an arsonist is lighting fires on the ranch. When Levi becomes the next target of the firebug, will it be Cat’s turn to save him from the inferno?
Suzanne Cass has always had a fascination with the tough resilience of people who live in our amazing red-dirt outback country. Much of her adolescence was spent working as a jillaroo in the Snowy Mountains, forming her love of lean, enigmatic, cowboy heroes in wild, passionate, dangerous stories. When not writing about the characters that inhabit her head, Suzanne can be found prowling the Perth beaches with her border collie, or yelling from the sidelines as her two sons play sport. Her debut novel, Island Redemption won the Romance Writers of Australia award for best unpublished romance novel of 2016.
Combustion is a prequel to the Stargazer Ranch series by Suzanne Cass. Working at her machinery shop at Stargazer Ranch Cat Lawson heard screaming from one of the cabins. On arrival, one of the cottages was on fire, and the client's pet is still inside and rushed in to save the dog. The new rancher Levi Wilson was on the way to introduce himself when he came to cross the burning cabin and help Cat Lawson and Jasper to escape. Cat Lawson was angry with Levi for interfering, and they clashed over this issue. However, things changed with Levi and Cat when Levi nearly came to be the next target. The readers of Combustion will continue to follow Cat and Levi to find out what happens.
Combustion is a fantastic start to this excellent series. Reading Combustion allows me to learn and understand the two main characters of book one of this series. I engaged with the plot of Combustion from the first page. Combustion is well written and researched by Suzanne Cass. I love Suzanne Cass's portrayal of her characters and how they intertwine with each other throughout this book. I like Suzanne Cass description of the settings of Combustion that complimented the plot of this book.
The readers of Combustion will learn about the consequence of arson to a small community. Also, the readers of Combustion will learn about the role of Park Ranger.
This novella is good introduction into Ms. Cass's new Stargazer Ranch series. Cat is the mechanic at Stargazer ranch and when she comes across one of the guest cabins going up in flames with the residents screaming that their dog is still inside, she doesn't hesitate to run in and try to rescue it. Who knew that one of the first things that Levi would do on his new job as a park ranger would be rescuing a spit fire and a dog from a burning cabin. It is soon learned that the fire was deliberately set and that the owner of the Stargazer Ranch is being threatened by email. Although Cat and Levi make some sparks of their own, will it be enough for Cat to finally stay in one place and grow roots? I look forward to learning more about Stargazer and the mystery fires in the next book, Wildfire.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
If you're drawn to fire like a moth to a candle, this book will surely entertain you. The fact that all the firefighter and fire behabior information isn't 100% accurate is overshadowed by the adrenaline rush of being in two structure fires in a couple of days. That and the fact there are some really cool descriptions. Like, 'The corridor was a flaming pit of hell.' Or, ,'You weren’t fine. You were about to be barbecued.” Add in a budding romance and you'll have fire a plenty. There's a mild difference in language use between Aussies and American English but you need to get used to it and appreciate it. Levi, the new park ranger met Cat on his first day on the new job as park ranger in Montana. This brief introduction to their lives makes me want to do more eavesdropping so I'm headed over to grab the next book about them. After all, the author describes Levi as 'a man with brooding brown eyes the color of the earth,' and I want to look deeply into them and get to know him.
This is a quick introduction to the Stargazer Ranch series. Cat goes into a burning cabin to rescue a dog and meets Levi, the new park ranger, when he ends up rescuing them. They share their first kiss later that night, then she tries to avoid him. When she’s leaving town, she goes by his house and ends up rescuing him from a burning building. Who is setting the fires and why? Grab your copy and be sure to grab the second book to learn if they’ll become a couple and if the arsonist is caught. I can’t wait to read Wildfire to see what happens next.
Though short, I liked this prequel novella for the Stargazer Ranch mystery series. Nice start to what looks like will be a suspenseful group of books with likable characters. Cat and Levi had an instant attraction to one another, and though they try to fight it, their chemistry promises to be “combustible,” along with some other flammable things. The mystery is not solved in this introduction, but I look forward to reading the other books in the series to find out who is causing all the chaos. I was provided a copy of this book by the author, and am giving my voluntary and honest opinion.
I received a free copy of this book from the author, Suzanne Cass, and this is my voluntary and honest review. This is a quick read as the introduction to the Stargazer Ranch series. I enjoyed it and look forward to reading more books by this author. This is about how Cat, a woman mechanic at Stargazer Ranch, and Levi, the new park ranger, met. There is an arsonist on the loose who is targeting Stargazer Ranch. I highly recommend this book.
Combustion (Stargazer Ranch #0.5) by Suzanne Cass – The new ranger realizes that the Stargazer Ranch has had a streak of fires lately. These two cuties make a great team! A nice fast little suspense teaser! Happy Reading!
A good short story to indroduce the backstory of these characters ready for book 1 Wildfire. I liked the two main characters, Cat and Levi and look forward to their journey of getting together.
Very intriguing. I like the varied people in the story. A girl rides a motorcycle, some have tattoos. Some are gentle, and others were rough. Some had generous hearts, and some were just plain mean
A story of a woman who jumps straight into a situation to solve what is happening. Short, but a great understanding of what will happen in other stories.
