I really enjoyed the second volume of this series! The perfect manga for when you need to just sit and chill out. I really liked the increased interaction between Mitsu and various clients.

Often in fiction, I get tired of what I think of as “Incredible Hulk TV Show” storytelling - that pattern where in every episode, our hero meets and helps someone in a small town before moving on with their life. (It’s what turned me off Naoki Urasawa's Monster, Volume 1 after a few volumes, as I felt like the overarching story kept getting waylaid by heartwarming “very special episodes.”) In Saturn Apartments 2, though, every vignette relates back to the themes of Mitsu’s own life: family, work, loss, and rebuilding.

Looking forward to the next 5 books.

Such a unique view and perspective on humanity! Imagining a world in which we don’t have all of the natural luxuries of earth including earth itself. Natural sunlight is rare, flowers, a view of the stars. It’s part eco commentary, part slice of life. I just really enjoy it

This series is so great and such a great escape. The characters are as engaging as any soap opera worth watching and the growing list of clients the window washers serve make this a series you don't want to lose track of or skip any volumes. These read fast and are nice in-between books because they're light enough to be easy reads, but serious enough that you care about what's happening to the characters. I'd recommend for teens and adults. Tweens might be able to relate to the main character because he's tween/teenage, but I think the audience who can best appreciate this is teens and adults.

Mitsu has just started working as a window washer, a dangerous job that five years earlier led to the loss of his father. As Mitsu struggles with being the new guy—making mistakes, struggling to keep up, petty workplace resentments—he also discovers the simple pleasures of befriending his coworkers, enjoying time off, and getting to know his absent father through the eyes of his colleagues.

I pretty much felt the same way reading this as I did with the first one. It's interesting to see the story progress. I feel like people shouldn't be had on Mitsu because, after all, he's just a kid who is trying to figure out what happened to his dad. I feel like there are a lot of secrets and things that we don't have the full story on so I'm eager to find them out. I'm not super hooked though.

Having read and enjoyed the 1st Saturn Apartments so much I had to find out if the author had done more. I was disappointed to find that there were more Saturn Apartment books, but at the time they were only available in original Japanese or translated to French. But at least there was a date for the English volume, and I watched and waited for its release.

While book 1 established the job of the space station window cleaner and the associated cast of characters, book 2 gets deeper into their lives. There are elements of the work, new encounters with the customers, but there are the festivals where they live, the days off, the drinking sessions after a hard shift, and a mutual love of eggs, such a versatile food.

Again, great characters, understated works that I just find a great pleasure to read.

This one tried to further the character development by having the stories primarily about the characters interacting with one another. Unfortunately here, that means the stories are mostly about stupid characters I don't care about, consuming meals and talking about consumption and meals. If I wanted to deal with such an insensitively constant, daily fixation on meals, consumption, and bodies, I'd get to know more Americans. Not enjoyable at all. Can't recommend.

I think what I find refreshing about this is how uneventful it is, in a sense. There's the loose plot of Mitsu as a window cleaner, but for the most part, this manga is a "slice of life" about the various people Mitsu meets both on and off the job. There's a quiet integrity to this manga that I really love.

I'm so excited! This series is one of the best I've read so far this year(next to Twin Spica!)
This volume was as good as the 1st. The stories are very sweet and as I learn more about Aki and his father it makes me yearn for the next volume even more. They can't come out fast enough for me.

This series is sweet and unhurried, but I'm not really sure where it is going, if indeed it is going anywhere at all. It's enjoyable to wander through this futuristic setting, but hopefully some plot will happen soon.

The series unfolds at its own pace, but it doesn't feel slow. The focus is very much on human relationships, and we learn a bit more about Mitsu's missing father. This series is like no other manga I've read.

I liked this more than the first volume, even though I'm giving it fewer stars, because it progressed beyond "introduce all these people" into "explore the lives of this cast of characters." The extra star came from the excellent handling of the sf/futuristic concept (I keep wanting to add this to my apocalyptic-dystopian shelf but it doesn't feel like it fits . . .).

I'm once again reminded of the Aqua, Volume 1/Aria, Volume 1 series--same genre of manga, I suppose, the "slice of life" ones--as well as Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Mitsu does the Harry Potter thing of wanting to learn about and be just like his dad; that's probably a general orphan thing, but I associate it with Harry. It works fairly well, giving us a good look into these grumpy-but-kindhearted, hardworking men. Interesting how strongly Japanese cultural norms permeate this outer-terrestrial habitation--is there a Japanese section? I wonder. (And a note: outer-terrestrial is not a term. I just like making up words.)

I like the women, even though they seem to be relegated to wives-and-mothers roles--except Sachi, whose age I'd really like to know. Mr. Kageyama's "Glitter" was my favorite moment of this volume, although I also enjoyed Ms. Haruko's hat (especially when her friend tried it on) and Tamachi's affection for eggs. Why do the upper level individuals have such huge, empty rooms? I like my growing sense of Mitsu's world and the overarching questions that persist.

I'm really enjoying this series more than I thought I would. I also never thought that I would be so into a series that's so quiet and unassuming. And I mean that in a positive way. There's obviously a plot and character growth, but it's more real to life and less like making a chart of the story in elementary school to learn plot structure. There's all these little moments that are so sweet and unassuming. I'm becoming a big fan of Mitsu and I'm excited to see how he grows and develops. He's coming into his own and as he's opening up to new possibilities, he's also opening up to new people. A lot of the time I don't remember who all these people are, but I love his interactions with them that I'm not minding the learning curve at all. I found the parts where he was talking about getting to know his father from other people's associations with him to be particularly powerful. I'm really excited to see where this series goes next.

Another chill, space-y volume. Mitsu is starting to warm up to both his window-washing trade and his coworkers. Nice to pick this understated story up between other manga, which is often narrative and action-heavy.

Not particularly exciting, but it was fine I suppose. If you like "slice of life"-type stories set in sci-fi environments, you'd probably enjoy reading this.
