Initially, after I came to know that the author has been awarded Sahitya Akademi's Bal Puraskar (শিশু সাহিত্য বঁটা) for this book, I did not anticipate that the story could involve deep topics causing fissures in the society such as alcohol abuse, school dropout problem, abuse by teachers in a subtle yet quite meaningful way.

Through the character Anubhav (অনুভৱ) and his monologues, the author discusses the pressing issues mentioned above. Kudos to the author for questioning the status quo and the prevailing attitude of the people. Questions where one character asks ' ঐতিহ্য ৰক্ষাৰ দায়িত্ব নাৰীৰ ?' are noteworthy because it can make readers, especially the youth be critical of gender bias among the people.

I didn't agree to oversimplification of some issues although it can be pointed that the book is targeted towards a younger audience and hence the author didn't want to go in detail. Moreover, the character of the old Mathematics teacher Mahendra ( মহেন্দ্ৰ মাষ্টৰ )felt like he was absolved of his abusive tendencies shown in the beginning; I felt that even though he changed towards the end but his overly strict and borderline abusive personality could be more critical since it is very common in schools across Assam(actually the entire country) for the teacher to be almost like a Godlike figure who cannot be condemned.

Altogether, if we overlook these minor flaws, I would recommend this book to everyone, regardless of their age.

The story is so beautiful.
This is a tale of love ,of friendship, of the importance of hardwork,and most importantly the role of teachers in our lives.

So many moments throughout the book made me teary eyed , it really has one of the best examples of friendship in a book,two friends that care for each other ,have mutual respect for each other , help each other become better human beings . Truly wonderful.

In the Assamese textbook of class 9, we had a chapter similar to the story of this book. I got so captivated by that short story that I read it multiple times during the span of the year.
That was when I first discovered about the book named "বকুল ফুলৰ দৰে", which ultimately turned out to be a masterpiece.
The best part of this book was the moment ashim's Father changed himself! Indeed the struggles of Ashim and Nirmal,the eventual result that they were able to achieve , is the most inspirational ever!
When Nirmal said, " পৃথিৱীখন বহুত ধুনীয়া ছাৰ। আপুনি আছে, অসীম আছে, মোৰ মা দেউতা আছে। মই ৰোৱা বকুলজোপা আছে। বাঢ়ি আহি আহি এসময়ত বকুল জোপাই ডাল পাত মেলি এজোপা ডাঙৰ গছ হৈ পৰিব। তাত ফুল ফুলিব! মোৰ চাবলৈ বৰ মন যায় ছাৰ।
মোৰ বহুদিন জীয়াই থাকিবলৈ নম যায় ছাৰ!" I was all i could do to control my emotions. I would say this is the most touching and emotional book ever!
This book doesn't only provide the reader entertainment, but it makes the reader enter a different world, wherein we discover the roughness of life and read about the two young boys, who fight against life, never losing faith in one another, never focusing on their own lives completely such that they'll forget about others.

Untill now, whenever someone asked me "What's your favourite book?" , I replied "None, I like all of the books that I read."

But after reading this masterpiece?

My instant reply would be, "বকুল ফুলৰ দৰে"!

" মানুহৰ মনটো ইচ্ছা গ'লেই সলনি কৰিব পৰা কিতাপ নহয়। মানুহৰ মনটো কিজানি কেতিয়াও শেষ নোহোৱা এখন বহীৰ দৰে।দিনে দিনে তাত নতুন নতুন কথা লিখা হৈ গৈ থাকে। এই বহীখন কেতিয়াও সলনি কৰিব নোৱাৰি। মন গ'লেও নোৱাৰি। খুব বেছি কাট-কুট কৰিব পাৰি। কিন্তু কাট- কুটৰ চিনবোৰ তাত থাকি যায়। যেনেকৈ আজি অসীমৰ মনৰ বহীখনত এটা কাট - কুট হৈ গ'ল। যোৱা ৰাতি হয়তো উজাগৰে কটাই আশাৰে লিখা কথা এটা আজি ৰাতিপুৱা অসীমে কাটি পেলাব লগা হ'ল। এই কাট-কুটটো এটা লেতেৰা দাগৰ দৰে থাকি যাব বহীখনত।"

উপন্যাসখনৰ শেষৰফালে কোনোবা এজনে ঠিকেই লিখিছে, "কিছুমান কিতাপক ৰেটিং দিব পৰা নাযায়। এইখন কিতাপো মোৰ বাবে তেনে এখন কিতাপ।" মোৰ বোধেৰে এই উপন্যাসখন সকলো বয়সৰ পাঠকে পঢ়ি আনন্দিত আৰু অনুপ্ৰাণিত হ'ব বুলি মোৰ বিশ্বাস। তাৰোপৰি এই উপন্যাসখন সকলো কণমানি শিশুৱে পঢ়াটো উচিত বুলি মই ভাবো কাৰণ উপন্যাসখনৰ ভাষা একেবাৰে সহজ, তাৰোপৰি অসীম আৰু নিৰ্মলৰ জীৱন কাহিনীৰ পৰা তেওঁলোকৰ মনত এটা বিশ্বাসে জন্ম ল'বলৈ সুবিধা পাব যে আত্মবিশ্বাস, একাগ্ৰতা, ভাল সংগ আৰু সঠিক পৰামৰ্শৰ সহায়ত কোনো প্ৰতিবন্ধকতাই সফলতাৰ পথত বাধাৰ সৃষ্টি কৰিব নোৱাৰে।

I don’t know what to write. I am a new reader in the world of Assamese novels. I have read ‘Moromor deuta’ by Dr. Bhabendra Nath Saikia. That was a masterpiece,still it is. The reason I mentioned the book is these two books have two different stories but looks like a complement to each other. Bakul phulor dore is a whole gathering of pure emotions, struggles, age and barriers, societal barriers, solution seeking write up. I won’t dare to rate it with my futile exposure to this new world. My respect for the author has increased and I am now sad that I have finished the book at a stretch. When I started to read the book I can not stop myself from ending it and now that it has ended, I am at pain. Eagerly waiting for his next piece of writing. Hats off to his observation, thinking and dimension analysis skills. Lots of love to my dearest Nirmal,Asim Mahendra mastor and Anubhob mastor ❤️

Really wholesome book of love and friendship, masculinity and redemption and indomitable spirit. Brought me to many places.

Especially the scenes that describe Mohendra Mastor's love and affection for his "jewel" of a student. When he reaches out to Oxim first, the way he waits every morning to check that Oxim is doing alright and moving on the right path and especially the reveal when we find out that Nirmal saw Mastor bringing out cotton and Dettol for Oxim 's first aid.

The relationship between Normal and Oxim is cheff's kiss. I am glad they have each other. Wonderful book overall

After a very long time I picked up this beautiful piece of art and let me tell you it is one of the most beautiful book that I have ever read in my life. This book talks about teenage struggles, family dynamics, importance of education, views of general public and male friendship. It is a roller coaster of emotions. I love the ending so much. I adore this book. I want to thank the author for writing such a beautiful book. Every teenager must read this book.
