The Dusman have accepted the Humans as allies but have given no indications as to what their long-term intentions are. Their goals have to be large, though, as they continue to spread their influence across the Human colonies… and beyond.
Fighting continues to rage between the guilds, both in the shadows and out in the open for all to see. Although one of the Synthetic Intelligences has been killed, the others are now restive, acting from the shadows to affect events galaxy-wide. Unfortunately, the search for Minerva—the Science Guild SI—hasn’t borne any fruit; wherever Minerva is, she is sure to be plotting the downfall of humanity in general and the Four Horsemen in particular, and she will likely strike when humanity least expects it.
Civilizations battle civilizations, looking to redress old grievances. This should be a time of great profit for the Mercenary Guild, yet the guild sits on the sidelines, allowing the battles to rage nearly unchecked.
Meanwhile, the threat of the Kahraman grows ever nearer. Although they withdrew, everyone knows they haven’t gone far, and they could show up again at a moment’s notice.
As the end of The Guild Wars draws near, only one thing is certain—the tempest will rage until the very end.

There is lots of revelations in this book, which makes it a must-read if you are a 4HU fan, but it has - also - its lot of other mysteries yet to uncover... Add to that interesting characters, threats unfolding left and right, a new mysterious player intervening and you begin to wonder what the heck is going on...
Action there is, and it is top-notch, the good guys have geared up, the bad guy as well...
Looking forward to where the next books will take us to...
Great, great job from the authors. An ambitious project unfolding since 2017 with great universe building.
I would have given 3 stars. But why punish writers for my dislikes. I'm old enough to remember original movie The Thing, loved it. Remake with Kurt Russell not so much. I Never liked an enemy that can jump from one person to another, and control them. Just me I guess. All the stories have been good and looking forward to next episode. But books are getting more and more away from 4 horsemen to bunch of A.I.s running the universe. I just skip over those sections, I also skip over all the back stabbing politics,, if I wanted that,, I'd turn on the news.. I read the books to escape all that garbage..
I have read most of the books in this universe and each one has been fantastic but I admit to liking this one best. I love where the story went and how the characters grew. Plus the way the story went there are plots for multiple new books!!! Totally recommend this book for your reading pleasure
Man, I cannot stress how much we need new editions in this universe. Rarely do I become as invested in a series as I have in this one. Please please hurry and publish the next one. That is all.
And so it ends: not with a bang but a whimper, with more questions than answers. Like the Omega Wars, this is obviously the lead in to a new series. I'm intrigued to see where this goes next.
Another superb book, this one was hard to put down.Plenty everything this series has been known for. My only gripe was too much of the romance aspect of Jim's life. The galaxy is indeed an interesting place...
I thoroughly enjoy the Four Horsemen universe. I wish it were easier to enjoy it in an orderly fashion. The plots, sub plots and spin-offs remind me of navigating major city freeways trying to follow one major highway.
Finally the end of the guild wars. Lots of further peeling away of the mysteries of the four horsemen universe, especially the S.I.’s that control the guilds.
