Okay....I've thought long and hard about this review. I've done my RESEARCH on this book and this author and all I can say is I'm confused by the stars that were given. Let's start from the beginning.
As I started reading this book I noticed the many grammatical and spelling errors; it's just in my nature. Then, the ELLIPSES. The limit of ellipses apparently doesn't exist. I then tried to rationalize. Maybe this author was trying to write this more as a screenplay? The dialogue was there with a HUGE lack in scene description and it was odd to read "HA-HA" so frequently instead of something like, "You're so funny," she laughed.
SPOILER ALERT
I am perfectly okay with spoiling all the things with this book as I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The plot was perfectly laid out and everything made sense until they asked, "why choose now to murder your daughter-in-law". "BECAUSE SHE DIDN'T SOCIAL DISTANCE DURING THE PANDEMIC".....(ellipses for hilarious dramatic effect).... WWHAAT?!
Don't get me wrong. I'm vaccinated. I believe people should do what's right for them and if that means getting vaccinated, do it. If that means refraining from vaccination, do it. I'm not here to judge your choices and you're not here to MURDER me for mine.
Also, there's a 30 page RANT in undesignated (as in you have no idea which character is saying what by page 2) dialogue about fake new, propaganda, and pandemic/vaccine arguments. Y'all, I don't know about you but I get enough of that on my social media page, I don't need that in my relaxing reads.
INFO ALERT
This author DOES. NOT. EXIST. First debut novel and their gum-shoe detective writing is drawn heavily from their LIKES ON GOODREADS (ahem....Agatha Christie). The copyright page has no editor (surprise, surprise) and the novel is copyrighted to an unknown person of Indian descent (again, no Google search results). I can only surmise that this book was purely written to vent one's own political pandemic views or further spread the divide that we continue to face as a nation.
That is all (mic drop)
