Loving Reaper

Rate this book
Our beautiful planet is home to 8.7 million species. Animals that walk, crawl, fly, swim, and all of which, in one way or another, enrich our daily lives.

Whether it's watching a football game with your dog, the first time your eyes meet those of a fox in the forest, or the warmth and purring provided by that cat you took in. Our lives are affected by exchanges with our animal companions, whether domestic or wild.

With these comics, the author wants to show the diversity and beauty of the animal world, but above all to denounce the human behavior that we should no longer see, ever.

We're not going to lie to you, these are incredibly sad stories and it is likely that some of them will touch you. But they are also stories of hope, because every tear you shed means that these animals matter to you, and that you will take care of those who are lucky enough to cross your path.

Loving Reaper fueled my anger towards the human race. We humans treat the beautiful lives of animals like they only exist for our entertainment. We harm them we isolate them and we kill them. We don't deserve those precious animals. They should only be treated with love and respect. 💔

I've seen some of the artist's works floating around on YouTube over the years, but just recently discovered that this is a running series by a WONDERFUL artist.

Do you also cry when the dog dies at the end of the book? Well, you should still read this gem of a book. Jenny Jinya is on a mission to raise awareness of animal cruelty and the casual, cruel indifference we inflict on billions of lives we share this planet with.

I'm not going to lie; if you're anything like me, you will ugly cry, but you won't regret it. Without doubt, the most heartbreakingly beautiful book of the year.

While you can read it as a webcomic, it is also available as hardcover/paperback. For each book sold, funds are donated to animal rescues, so please consider buying a physical copy:

Harsh realities and terrible truths. It all comes wrapped in bittersweet stories with heart-wrenching illustrations that won't leave your eyes dry. Best to have some hankies about and the number of your nearest animal shelter.

I may be biased, but this is among my favorite comics. I like how such a powerful message can be conveyed through such a minimalistic comic. Needless to say, I always cry when I read this author’s work.

This is the most profoundly sad and yet comforting book. The artwork is lovely. Man's inhumanity to animals is on full and truthful display but the creation of the reaper is heart lifting. This book is a treasure of beauty, as well as something every human on the planet should read. At should become a text book in every school and required reading for every student as soon as they can read full sentences. Parents should read it to their children over and over.

Did I cry through this book the same way I cry over Jenny Jinya's posts on Instagram? You betcha. Even the comics I've read a number of times are still a punch in the gut that bring up all the emotions.

This book is a beautiful, hardcover collection of these heart-wrenching, awareness-raising stories. I love Jenny Jinya for her ability to capture these little stories in such a visually simple and yet incredibly powerful way. Having them bound in a book only lends to their amazingness.

I definitely recommend at the very least that everyone check out her work on Instagram.

I am not an avid reader of comics and graphic books but Jenny Jinya is one comic artists who may get me to change my mind. She brings not only dark issues to light to help get the word out for those who cannot speak for themselves but throws in her passion and considerable talent to do so.

Loving Reaper is a compilation of many of Jenny's comics found online from such sources as Facebook. As such on picking this book up I found myself returning to some well familiar characters and also meeting some new ones while with each character's story still ended up pulling the heart strings while bringing tears to my eyes for a few.

For the comic portion there is no additional text besides the conversations between the characters or some of the thoughts as they narrate their story as such the reading is quite brief. At the end of the majority of these stories the artist then leaves a few paragraphs describing the wickedness of the subject being address such as keeping wild parrots for pets, pollution of the seas or the dangers of uncovered pools just to name a few or even address such things as being there for beloved pet when the end comes if possible.

The color scheme is very minimal but the palette captures the right essence and the ghostly creatures touch as being very realistic even in their transformed state. The only time the reader sees any color is for descriptive purposes such as the red-eared slider or when Life makes an appearance in contrast to Death.

My only complaint is very minimal and that is the fact there was some misspellings with the actual paragraph writing. Although there were a few it wasn't bad enough to take away from the actual messages being addressed so shouldn't turn away any of the majority of readers.

All in all Jenny Jinya's book is one of the best out there for addressing such human-animal interactions as we face in our modern world and one I would highly recommend for almost any reader. Due to its dark nature I would probably suggest a middle school reading level for children as a beginning step and onwards in age.

A beautiful read and worth the money. The comic is 34 pages long with stunning artwork and a powerful message. Not to mention, the profit of this comic goes to animal shelters in Germany, making it a more than worthy purchase.

Jinya is a fantastic author and artist and I can't wait to see more of her work. I wish more of her work was available on amazon.

There are a few translation errors as the comic was translated from German to English, however they were minor and can be easily corrected by the publisher.

When it comes to breaking my heart, no one does it better than Jenny Jinya. For someone who is accused of being cold and unsympathetic, Ms. Jinya melts my heart and makes me tear up. Her poignant stories of neglect, abuse, and torture slay me, every single time. She highlights the plight of animals suffering under human greed, selfishness, and cruelty. She motivates me to do better and be more conscious of how my actions and decisions could impact animals negatively.

The artwork is superb. I love everything Ms. Jinya creates and am always delighted when I can purchase a copy of her work.

Well, I cried.
This is more than just a story of a black cat and a good dog. It captures abandonment, hope, cruelty, and love all within a few pages. It encourages to be kinder to animals and our pets. Every word, every drawing is heart wrenchingly true, and reached a spot in my soul nothing else could.
A truly remarkable piece of art!

I love her work. It makes me sad but comfortable as well. The stories always make me cry, but it is heartwarming how sweet Death is. And that is comforting.

It's a thin book. But it's also cheap. So buy it. It's sweet.
