Rhiyan hoped Bali's serene blue waters would heal her shattered heart.
After her marriage crashed and burned, she packed up and flew to Bali. Instead, of healing, she's met with a headache—Kendrick.
He's all smolder and challenge with an arrogance that rivals her ex's.
Then an earthquake shakes things up, forcing them to share space. Amidst moonlit nights and turquoise waters, their flared words turn into passionate kisses.
Bali sunsets paint the sky, but their explosive chemistry sets the horizon ablaze. The tropical heat has nothing on the sparks between these two in Bali!
Can this sultry island rendezvous turn into a full-blown love affair?

I didn’t expect to enjoy this so much. Enemies to lovers are one of my favorite tropes, and this one was super cute and funny. Rhiyan is spunky, feisty, and hilarious. After some hardship at work and her in personal life, she went to Bali, Indonesia on a relief mission and a little R&R. There, she met bald and bearded, tribal tattoo half black, half Hawaiian god, Kendrick. Kendrick exuded all the sexy. His and Rhy’s jabs at each other made for a good story. It was funny and sexy. I love the chemistry between them and how attached they became. The author did wonderful, making me feel like I was in Bali with Rhi and Ken.
Though there were some pretty serious conversations I wished they had…or at least had on the pages. That made the story feel incomplete and rushed to me. But overall, this was a super fun read. Female narrator did great, especially with the spicy scenes 🥵 Male narrator gets a C.
This author is new to me, and I enjoyed the story. I didn’t want it to end.
*audiobook* the narrators really brought the story together for me; now I want a trip to Bali, minus the earthquakes. I feel like the author did a solid job on this one, it is a slower read with a lot of build up. She was pretty detailed and at times the story felt a little wordy. She did a good job with the characters. They are smart and attractive with clear chemistry but they didn’t like each other in the beginning. As the story progresses, the relationship with the two moved pretty quickly, they both have baggage that they are dealing with but I did like them together as a couple. I would read more from this author.
3.5⭐️ So this is my first time reading this author and I didn’t know what to expect from this story. It is definitely a slow-burn love story and mistaken enemies to lovers in my opinion. I appreciated the world-building to get us to where the main characters finally meet. I also enjoyed the technical engineering and architectural terms! Rhiyan and Kendrick’s fast love in Bali were sweet once they broke the tension between them. I even appreciated each of their healing on this trip to Bali. One thing I hope in future books is a bit more closure on certain topics. A few things came up and I felt like we never got a resolution on it. Just needed it to be fleshed out better. Overall I enjoyed this story and would give this author another read.
Rhiyan Carson: If, “the time is now,” was a person it would be Rhiyan. She may have stumbled on her path, but she wasn’t ready to give up.
Kendrick Kekoa: If, “layers,” was a person it would be Kendrick. He had so much going on and so many walls up that it took time and work to figure out who he really was.
This was Cher Terais’s debut book and sis did not come to play. In this story Terais takes us on a descriptive ride to Bali and it had us feeling like we were sitting on the beach, drink in hand with an umbrella in them... This story was a tale as old as time. Man hurts woman, woman loses herself, but then it takes on a life of its own. Rhiyan’s journey was so beautiful to experience through this story. We were right there with Rhiyan while she rediscovered who she is. The romance was not lacking nor was the character development. Both characters go through such an evolution in this book. Rhiyan and Kendrick were so easy to love. This piece is nothing and everything like the beautiful cover makes you think. If you’re looking for a fun feel good story, then look no further. This one isn’t to be missed.

I truly enjoyed this book! I stumbled across it while looking for bookstagram accounts to add and let me tell you, I'm glad I did. Rhi is fiery and hilarious, she has wounds that she's been avoiding dealing with since her divorce and after receiving the unwanted blessing of time off she goes to Bali to do some good and perhaps get her groove back. The chemistry between the MC's was great. This is definitely a spicy read so by all means, have your water \fan ready. I loved how careful Kendrick was with his family and with Rhi. I also appreciated the research the author but in towards the culture, volunteer organizations, and sustainable building practices. Rhi's relationship with her sister is also a highlight. The banner between felt so real! My girls and I talk with the same candor, the vibes were there. Loved it!
A couple things: One, an editor would smooth the rough edges of this story. The first couple chapters were a little rough editing wise and it distracted just a touch from the story. Things evened out though by Kendrick's chapter. The story's got great bones but some parts felt like a summary of a scene instead of an actual showing or telling of what's occurring. Two, I wouldn't have minded a longer epilogue just to smooth out the story a little more.
All in all, Bali Blue is good read. Its short at around 235 pages. Super spicy and genuinely funny.
This was a cute, funny, a bit spicy page turner. I read the book in less than 24 hours. This story is about a woman named Rhiyan whose life took a turn after her divorce. She is the Executive Vice President of an Architectural and Engineering firm called 3W. She is in the middle of completing a very important project in which she may not meet the deadline due to slacking behind because of the shift in her personal life. Being that she is an asset to the company, her Boss demanded that she took some time off to regroup and return back. She decided to visit Bali and while there, she planned on volunteering in assisting in cleaning up and preparing a school that will be opening for displaced children due to a recent earthquake that hit Bali.
While there, she meets a half Hawaiian, half Black man named Kendrick. Their initial meeting was what one would call unpleasant due to Rhiyan being triggered unbeknownst to Kendrick. That’s where it all began. They couldn’t stop thinking of each other but refused to let the other know how they truly felt until they were placed in a position to do so.
Overall, it was a good read and I’m definitely going to read part 2 and 3. The only criticism I have is it felt a bit rushed. There were some conversations I feel like could’ve been had but even without them, I still enjoyed the story.
So I’ve got my bags packed and I’m ready to buy my ticket to Bali after this book. Kendrick has all the book boyfriend feels. Black and Hawaiian? I mean, where do I sign up for this? And Rhi, this girl was a straight up boss. She was a little shaky at first but who wouldn’t be after a messy divorce from a piece of - well you get the picture. Their relationship was all eat, pray and love - just as I would expect a sexy Bali romance to be.
Ms. Terais did such a good job taking me there. To Bali, to the great humanitarian efforts on both their parts, and to the bedroom because daaamn those scenes were spicy. My gawd! It was 🥵! I am so new to her writing as this was my first, but I’m so here for more.
Everyone strap on those seatbelts and hang on tight ‘cuz this trip is going to have u screaming for more!
Highly recommend. In fact, come back and let me know when you’ve read it because I wanna read those comments!
First I must give a huge thank you to the author, Cher Terais, and Book Funnel for the opportunity to receive this review copy to read. Now let’s get into Bali Blue!
The book opens to life unraveling for Rhiyan Carson. She’s prided herself on having it altogether up until this point. The dissolution of her marriage has left her numb. Her current work project delayed and financially two million plus dollars in the red. At the urging of her boss, she takes time off work to recalibrate.
As she ponders how to reclaim herself now that the piece of her life that have any semblance of normalcy was gone. As she’s watching the news, a breaking story alert grabs her attention. An earthquake has struck the islands of Bali and Lombok. Rhiyan can’t seem to escape thoughts of the images of a little girl covered in blood and soot. She impulsively decides to travel to Indonesia to volunteer in the aftermath of the earthquake, helping displaced children.
We then are introduced to Kendrick Kekoa. He is single father to a pre-teen tomboyish daughter. He and his company specialize in infrastructure rebuild. He’s contacted by locals to enlist his lead in the effort.
Rhiyan and Kendrick’s paths collide, literally, in the lobby of the resort ending in Rhiyan taking a tumble. The pair from there experience a series of events that bring them eventually together and then abruptly apart. But is it forever?! You have to read to find out if happily ever after is in the cards for them.
I really enjoyed Bali Blue! I received Bali Blue as an ARC, but the following is my honest, unbiased opinion. The book starts with us meeting Rhiyan, an Atlanta based professional in architecture. Rhiyan (or Rhi) is at a crossroads in her life, personally and professionally. So thanks to some pushing from her boss, Rhi takes time off to right the course of her ship. Rhi decides that Bali is the perfect place to do this, due largely to events that occurred in Bali at the same time she is trying to figure out life. So Rhi embarks on a grand adventure that ends of putting her on the path to meeting Kendrick, a Hawaii based professional who works in construction (I am trying to avoid spoilers hence the vagueness). Rhi and Kendrick have a rocky start, but the sparks fly instantly! Overall, I greatly enjoyed Cher Terais’ debut novel. It is a fun and flirty story. I also love that Rhi isn’t just an office worker, but an executive in male dominated field of Engineering and Architecture. I definitely recommend Bali Blue, especially since it will bring you some much needed island heat on a cold winter day!
this was a really cute read — 3/5. Rhi was fiesty and rough around the edges. I could relate to certain parts of her character. She was recently divorced and traveled to Bali to reclaim her time, self-awareness, and “groove.” She runs into Kendrick who is there on mission work. They warm up to each other and fall head over heels.
I really appreciate the inclusion of Hawaiian and Indonesian culture! It was probably my favorite parts, aside from the spicy scenes. However, a lot of the parts felt rushed. There wasnt much build up to their romance, and it felt their past was summarize. When, in real life, the things they’ve seen come with a lot of baggage and trauma; their love would not happen over night.
I love a good enemies to lovers romance and this one delivers. We meet Rhyian as she is trying to recover from her divorce and her boss forces her to take time away. She decides to go to Bali to volunteer and meets Kendrick. The sparks fly and not in a good way. But then the sparks spark something good. Of course their love doesn’t come smoothly but this story keeps your interest until the end. First time reading this author but won’t be my last!
Wow Cher, I need to plan and start saving for a trip to Bali for me and my husband. I enjoyed the unselfishness and giving spirit of Rhi. I equally enjoyed the outward showing of love, arrogance, and protectiveness that Kendrick displayed. They are a great match. Now they are walking hand-in-hand on the path to FOREVERMORE! Onto the next locale. Thanks Cher!
This was a breath of fresh air. I loved this story. Everything about it! Rhi and Kendrick were the perfect match and seeing their relationship blossom was so good. This was my first read by this author but certainly won't be the last. Adding her to my list of faves after just one read. This book was that good!
This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I certainly will be back for more!😍. It was a heartfelt, comical, and spicy little number that I will add to my list of faves. I absolutely loved Kendrick and Rhi for each other. Their chemistry was undeniable and fiery as all get out. 😌 10/10 definitely recommend.
This was my first time reading this author work and I enjoyed it. The chemistry between these two was everything and more. I enjoyed reading about these characters. I'm so glad that Rhi found love with Kendrick.
First time reading a book by this author. Even though it was an audiobook, the narration was great. I enjoyed listening to this love story. Would definitely recommend.💕💕💕
Whew!!!!! This review is well overdue! I got this book as an ARC back on 12/30/22 and started reading it 1/3/23. According to Amazon, the book is 248 pages which is definitely a normal size book for me to read in only a couple of days. Ashamedly, it took a little over a month to finish reading this book. Not that it was a bad read. But if you read my latest book wrapup... that I just posted today... you will know that life has truly been lifing on me for the last 2 months. Either way, that's not what this post is about. We're here to hear about Bali Blue. Now, before I dive in, I will say, part of the reason it was so difficult for me to get into this book was the format in which I received it. PDFs on BookFunnel suck and make it hard to read comfortably. This ARC was for the re-release of Cher Terais' first book and once the re-release was done, I downloaded it from KU and read so much faster than I had in the beginning. Now, on to my review... Bali Blue is an enemies to lovers romance (MY FAVORITE TROPE) and when I tell you Rhiyan and Kendrick gave each other the business!!! Whooo, the tension was palpable from first impact, literally. Rhiyan Carson is an Executive Vice President & only black woman at an architechtural and engineering firm right outside Atlanta while Kendrick Kekoa owns the largest architectural and engineering firm in the Hawaiian Islands. (See that connection there???) The book opens with Rhiyan being called into her bosses office because her personal life (a recent-ish divorcee) is taking a toll on her work life and head honcho has taken notice of it. To avoid having to fire her, he suggests she takes a vacation of sorts; basically phone in on the major meetings with her team to make sure they are catching up on the deadlines she promised him they were working on. So, she takes the hint and leaves work. She finally decides what she's going to do for her vacation after she finds out about a hurricane in Bali, Indonesia that was more than just destructive. Rhi comes up with the idea to go to Bali to volunteer help rebuild during her 2-months off. At the same time, Kendrick gets a call from a family friend, requesting his companies assistance with rebuilding the very same province. Kendrick is a single father of a pre-teen girl and his child's mother is an addict who drops in and out in spurts. His saving grace when it comes to receiving help with his daughter, Jada, is his aunt Ona. So, when he has to fly out to Bali, he is very grateful to have her assistance in such a short notice. Our couple meet when Rhiyan was on her way out of the hotel, that both main characters are staying at, and Kendrick is heading to his room after checking in. Someone wasn't paying attention and BAM! They run right into each other, making Ms. Rhi hit the floor. When she looks up to apologize, Ken's slick mouth and aviator glasses gives her triggering memories from her ex-husband. So, off rip, she doesn't like his ass. The problem is, when her volunteerism is underway, his construction crew drops in telling them they aren't supposed to be in that building. Ken's cocky ass attitude continues to rub Rhi the wrong way. And she can't quite understand why the very thing that irritates her about him is turning her on. Even her fellow volunteers at the school take notice and tease her about it. It isn't until a second quake that almost takes Rhiyan out while she's visiting the hospital, with the kids from the school, that she takes notice of Kendrick's sweeter side. Kendrick has been tasked with taking care of the woman he's been affectionately calling Vixen and their connection with each other blossoms full bloom. While I won't go into detail about what all happens in that time from him rescuing her, I will say they were exactly what each other needed, even if she tried to play it off as a vacation fling when things didn't go how she thought they should in the end. There was no doubt in my mind that these two would reconnect once they left Bali for Atlanta and Waikiki. And when they did, it was the most comical turned endearing moment ever. As I stated in the beginning of this post, it took a minute really dig into this book. I enjoyed it overall. However, I felt like there were a few parts that could have been left out since it either made the story drag a little or left me curious for more of something that in the end was irrelevant for the overall plot. Nevertheless, once the story picked up, I was all in. I loved the chemistry between the two main characters and Kendrick's relationship with his daughter and aunt were adorable. Like, swoon-worthy in the daddy/daughter category. I look forward to more from this author... Especially since she gave us a snippet at the end to whet our appetites. I also want to thank this author for an advanced copy of this re-release for an honest review and I apologize the tardiness in this upload.
How Stella got her Groove Back meets Eat Pray Love
Beautiful story about love after divorce and moving forward.
Rhiyan is a hot mess after being cheated on by her husband and getting a divorce. So she heads to Bali to regroup and recharge. Kendrick is a civil engineer in Bali for work.
These 2 don’t hit off right off the back cause My girl Rhiyan is damaged and projecting that last hurt onto Kendrick. The chemistry between the two of them was electrifying. And I loved every minute of them together.
This was a refreshing read and I need more Kendrick and Rhiyan and possibly a baby Kekoa
