Lu Zhengfei personally killed Chen Qianqing with his abuse.

3.5 stars- Self-cest danmei where a man is reborn in the body of the man he had trapped in an abusive relationship for years. Now he has to put up with his own mistreatment being inflicted upon himself. This wasn’t as dark as I had expected given the reviews on Novel Updates, I was expecting unhinged craziness but instead it’s more sad and existential. Has some really good face-slapping revenge scenes and I loved the way the MC detested the love interest (himself lol) for most of the book. The ending used a cheap plot device that I hate but it was otherwise a pretty enjoyable read. Includes depression and insomnia rep

Truly one of the most unique stories I've read. In it's simplest form it's really a story about forgiving and loving yourself lol For real though, Lu Zhengfei is obsessively in love with Chen Qianqing to the point of hurting CQ so that he never leaves him. CQ grows bitter, dies and LZ kills himself. Then LZ is reborn early on in their relationship, right after the first time he broke CQ's leg when he first tried to leave him. The twist is that LZ is not reborn as a younger version of himself he's reborn as CQ. So everything that a young LZ did out of "love" to CQ, a young version is now doing to himself. OG LZ thinks that he was reborn to be punished by suffering everything that he made CQ experience and eventually realizes that despite his love, they just weren't compatible, neither of them ever softened or gave in to the other so misunderstandings and hurt feelings just piled up. But now OG LZ is softening to the young LZ and while also envying how much easier his new version is having this relationship, he wonders if it's okay to not punish his current self and his new self. It's definitely interesting, there's definitely an ick factor, toward the middle it got a bit boring but overall it wasn't bad.
