Ties That Bind

Rate this book
Leah Carew -- Cece to her friends -- is content with her life. She’s the fifty-year-old aunt-turned-mother to her dead brother’s twin sons and a tenured college professor. One failed attempt at a long term relationship is thankfully behind her. Besides, almost single-handedly raising two boys while carrying a full load at Howard gives her little time or patience for trying again. So she isn’t ready for Tyler Brannigan and cannot deny her attraction to the charismatic oldest son of the President of the United States. But Cece knows off-the-chain chemistry isn’t enough to guarantee that she will be more than a fling to him, and she’s holding out for a soul mate. Besides, he’s almost eleven years her junior with a toddler and the Secret Service in tow. What the hell is he even thinking?

At thirty-nine, Tyler Brannigan has done more and lived better than most people he knows and he has no complaints. He’s content to raise his four-year-old son, Jimmy, and run the international luxury resorts he owns, even if these days he also has to manage being the First Son of the United States. He doesn’t see Cece Carew coming until he’s already caught by the charming, intelligent, deceptively youthful beauty. The last time he’d felt this way, he had married the woman. Is fate handing him a second chance? If so, he isn’t about to refuse it, no matter what the obstacles may be. He will win her over, now that his heart is no longer breaking over the loss of his first love.

Good

An enjoyable read, nice characters. Definitely a slow burn, but as promised once it heated up the author certainly delivered. I enjoyed.

Tyler was determined!

The last time he'd had the feelings he was having he'd married her. Grace had bowled him over when he first met her and now he was feeling the same way four years after her death for Dr. Leah. Cecelia Caraway, the Howard University English professor. What the president's son, the F-SOTUS, as Leah's nephews would call him, didn't know she had issues. Issues not only about their eleven year age difference but of a previous disastrous relationship that drug her life out in public and social media. Now she had a hard time wondering if not only would their relationship be real but would she be able to survive a heart break of a bump and run but also how cruel the news media could be. All of this weighed heavily on Leah's mind. Tyler was patient with her to a point, he let we know that he'd give her space but he would not wait forever. The next move had to be hers. She needed to want him as much as he wanted her. She decided that Tyler was worth it. Besides she did not want to be a lonely spinster once her boys left home. She finally enjoyed being with Tyler and his "sweets" was the first woman since Grace's death that he wanted.

This was a sweet to ance read. I loved the slow burn. It makes reading all the much sweeter.

Slow burn but you’re warned about that. The author says because they’re older with an age gap that they take it slow. But it’s more that cece is carrying a lot of baggage from her past and can’t understand why a good looking younger guy such as Tyler who’s also the presidents son would want an older woman like her but he does. Tyler not a player or someone who has women hanging off his arm and taking advantage of his status. No he only looks for women that he can be serious and at a mutual friends birthday party he spies cece and feels something that he hasn’t felt in a while. There’s not really any angst in this book apart from cece’s reluctance to entertain Tyler. Tyler surprisingly doesn’t take no crap from cece. He comes across as gentlemanly but when he wants to put his foot down he’s pure alpha. Cece thankfully hasn’t been written like an old lady which I’ve seen some authors do. Despite knowing it was a slow burn I was still waiting for the hook up. That puts a lot of anticipation on the book

What a year!

I enjoyed the story. It was a slow build, but every story doesn't have to be wild to be enjoyable. Sometimes simply is best. And that's just what Leah wanted in her life after the chaos she endured in the past. Now that she was in for a new beginning with Tyler, who lived with a little chaos at times, they had to find an easier way through their journey

I found the book interesting. I liked the fact that the ML knew what he wanted and went for it. I also understand why the FL had some concerns and fears due to her past but the ML also did everything he could to reassure her. There was no reason to doubt his sincerity, no crazy ex or fans to make her doubt him😄

Slow burn (but prewarned), age gap, she is older than he. I liked it but wasn't completely convinced by it.
