So glad I checked this out from the library before purchasing. The recipes do not work for this working family with children. Many of them need spices/sauces mixed ahead of time (recipes found on another page), specialty ingredients ordered (or go to multiple stores to find), meat marinated (one dish for an HOUR) etc. Based on the title I was hoping for a book where I could shop on Sunday and be set to cook in the evening quickly. This isn’t it.

4.5 stars rounded up! If you try to eat gluten-free, grain-free and dairy-free, this cookbook is fabulous, especially if you are looking for new, but not difficult ideas. Lots of color pictures, tips and substitution ideas. I borrowed it from my library, but I’m going to get my own copy because it has so many great recipes.

Ever since Modern Mrs. Darcy talked about reading a cookbook straight through, I have wanted to attempt it. It was definitely fun to actually do with a new cookbook but I think I would do a different more text heavy book next.

Very nice photography and appreciated photos for each recipe. The recipes look good and there are some I will make. Many of the recipes have a lot of ingredients that may not be easily accessible and on the expensive side to create. Although beautiful, I do find the overall feel of the cookbook to be a bit pretentious.

Not what I was expecting. There were a lot of Asian influences with the recipes. I like that, however, the recipes seem a little more involved, not enough pictures, there were a lot of pressure cooker recipes. Thus meals in a hurry. Worth a look, but I might pass on buying.

Consistent with the other cookbooks by this author. She is the real deal. A great source for people with food intolerances.

Hands down the most infuriatingly "healthy" cookbook I've read in a while. Walker assumes, naturally, that her diet is the best and the one everyone should follow. Which is fine, it's her prerogative, and I've rated other cookbooks with that same assumption by the author higher than this one.
HOWEVER, this book committed one sin. One fatal flaw that I could not forgive it for.
There is an entire chapter dedicated to condiments. And well over half of them call for "avocado oil mayonnaise."
This cookbook all about "from-scratch" and "healthy" cooking DOES NOT HAVE A RECIPE FOR MAYONNAISE. I'm sorry but it's two minutes, less than 5 ingredients, and healthier and tastier than any store bought substitute. And, yes, you can even make it with avocado oil. It ain't that hard.
Anyway, 1 star from me. If you're gonna obsess over what's in your food to this degree, than at least teach people to make a simple emulsion.

Unlike so many other cookbooks that claim to be quick recipes, these actually can be made in a hurry. There are many ingredients that I substituted because I don't need gluten free, dairy free or grain free recipes - e.g. regular spaghetti for vegetable spaghetti, soy sauce for coconut aminos - so that took a little effort, but if you have to follow those diets and have access to these ingredients, this might be just the cookbook for you.

I do not have a pressure cooker or instant pot, which was the first method for many of these recipes, but she often includes slow cooker directions, too.

Joke’s on me. I didn’t realize this was a grain free, dairy free, gluten free, sanity free cookbook when I checked it out from the library. It’s yet another pretentious white woman cookbook that goes to show the disparity of today’s food chain. These recipes are ridiculously bougie and incredibly difficult for anyone who isn’t of her same socioeconomic status. Virtually all the recipes call for ingredients that would be difficult to source for those who live in food deserts/not close to farmers markets let alone pay for.

Fantastic book! Read through it today and found MANY recipes that I’m very excited to cook. I especially love all the tips and tricks she’s included throughout the book. Ideas for making ahead, planning for leftovers, how to turn a recipe from meat based to vegetarian, how to substitute different ingredients, using techniques/ingredients in other recipes, and so many more things! I know that the basic recipes that she has at the front and back of the cookbook are going to become staples. Highly recommend!

Love this book. I am a hard grader and very seldom give out five stars. For the recipes that we used this week for meals have been great. Some of the items we look at and go I am not sure if they will taste good but why not try it. I’m a somewhat picky eater to begin with. I love the take on what reminds us of a Dole Whip. It has banana in it and taste great!

I do eat grains and some dairy so I picked this up to see if I liked any of the recipes that don’t feature those items. Some good ones here! Just dipping my toe into the GF and dairy-free world and this book helps make all of that less scary.

This one seems like it will be decent for trying--actually not-too-difficult or time-consuming recipes. We shall see!

One I'd like to try but that's a little more labor intensive is on p. 119, Creamy Roasted Garlic, Chicken Sausage, and Arugula Pasta.

I am grateful for Danielle’s cookbooks and her resilience to address the root cause of her (and many of our) health problems. She has renewed my motivation to make amazing, nourishing meals that anyone would enjoy. This is my favorite of her books thus far.

An exceptionally wordy cookbook, recipes are predictably meat-forward. Perhaps the most useful part of the book is the 'recipe index' with thumbnail photos of recipes and cook times. Love that!

Lots of yummy looking recipes to try. My favorite part of the book is recipes for "building blocks" to make with healthier ingredients like ketchup, sauces, and spices.

I’m not into gluten free, grain free, dairy free cooking. But this is a well laid out cookbook with good pictures. I will try the burnt broccoli recipe.

Wealth of knowledge in healthy eating choices and great recipes. I especially loved the section on making your own condiments and sauces by scratch.
