All I’ve ever wanted is freedom...

Freedom to do what I want.
Freedom to be who I want.

I’ve been controlled since the day I was born, forced to put on a smile and pretend my
life was perfect. From the outside looking in, it was. Little did anyone know, I’d been
living in hell.

Broken, beaten, and scared, I escaped my tormentor and ran to the one place I vowed
never to return. I’ve been hiding in the city that holds all my secrets and was beginning
to make a life for myself.

Until they come for me.

Eli, King, and Rowen.

They’re vicious, brutal, ruthless, and used to getting whatever they want, when they
want it. Only this time, there’s something standing in their way.
They want me out of their city and will stop at nothing to get what they want.

They say the ultimate cost of freedom is death... I should’ve been careful
what I wished for.

I liked the beginning of the story but then her relationship with her harem was too insta. Like she fucks her kidnapper the next day after she gets kidnapped. Lee suffered a lot but again, i didnt like their relationship development. It went from “i am liking this book” to “what the fuck am i reading”. And dont get me started on Lee’s obsession with death, girl is like the back-bencher in schools who sees the color black and starts to compare it with her souls and write death poems when she should have been studying.

Where do I start with this book other than it was amazing!

As soon as I started to read I was pulled up by the story of Lee. I constantly needed to know what was going to happen next. I love books that draw you in and keep you there till the very end.

Lee is a victim of so much during her life, I felt her emotions and pain come to life from the pages I read. There is so much happening and has happened it twists you round and round and I still don’t know what’s going to happen next 😱

This is a dark RH book with lots of triggers so read the warnings before you dive in. It is very descriptive and really well written.

There is some very gory violent scenes which 1 in particular even made me wince 🤣 (didnt stop me reading though haha) The spice was on 🔥 and soooooo good 🥵

This is a Multi POV book which is my favourite as I love being in the minds of all the characters and seeing how they tick.

I’m so confused though (doesn’t take a lot) What was that ending Kyla?! I have no idea how I’m going to cope until the next 1 comes out. She threw in a curveball there which I had no idea was coming especially when I thought I had figured it out 🖤

Amazing book.

The fact that the book only started making sense around the 46% mark of the book was really annoying.

Sure the harem has the typical:
1. Guy who's a social butterfly
2. Guy who's always emo and stone faced
3. Guy who's always pissed off for no reason

THIS IS NOT SPOILER FREE

But what was pissing me off was how easy they fought within themselves in the harem. Like you're supposed to be three guys who liked building a human sandwich with your woman as the main ingredient but how can a sandwich be built if the top slice of bread and bottom slice of bread don't fit together?

I won't speak anything bad about Lee/Tate because honestly it seemed her life was just one abusive situation after another and it honestly takes a lot of strength to even get through one. It's valid that she has her kinks and trauma (as do guy number 3 because they shared the same abusive home at one point of time).

But really I don't know what kind of loose harem is this.

Woah! There is so much going on in this book it’s hard to know where to begin, so perhaps we should start with the prologue.

It’s an intriguing discourse detailing Lee’s obsession with death, and the events of her own death before the story has really begun. In the ensuing chapters, you start to forget about the darkness within Lee as she endures endless abuse at the hands of our husband. Surely these two women can’t be one and the same?

After a brief pause, we meet Tate. She seems familiar; you know you’ve seen her before but there’s so much about her that’s different to the person you once knew. Then there’s them; three masked men, each completely captivating in their own way.

As we are introduced to King, Rowen and Eli hints of secrets begin to surface. Something connects Rowen and Tate but, at this point, he doesn’t admit what it is. He recognises her and questions how she could forget him? I agree with him. Failing to recognise somebody who had such an impact on your formative teenage years suggests a serious case of denial (and it becomes apparent that denial is not the issue here). Some may say that 13 years of growth and physical changes contribute; I’d say that’s a justification to accommodate this particular sticking point in the story. After all, it wouldn’t do for Tate to recognise one of her captors so early on.

Because yes, these three muscular, dominating, and intimidating men kidnap and imprison Tate. How else would they become her harem? I felt that Tate relaxed into being a captive far too easily. For a character that has a lot of fight and fire inside her, she was remarkably compliant when it came to accepting her fate and staying put. A point in her favour, at least she recognises this and has her reasons for staying with the guys (even if those reasons are mostly driven by her lady parts).

Tate is a complex character and, despite sharing none of her experiences, I found myself connecting with her thoughts and emotions. She is the girl who doesn’t know how to be loved, who refuses to quench the fire even when her heart is broken into pieces. She is naturally suspicious of the guys’ motives but desperately wants to trust them, even though they initially proved she couldn’t.

The pace and grip of Dollhouse is an enigma to me. The initial chapters are slow but drew me in so thoroughly that I couldn’t put the book down. How does that even work? The story moves more quickly once Tate is introduced, but it’s not a fast pace by any means. In fact, the real urgency in the storyline is only introduced around 80% of the way in. By this point, you feel like a fighter who’s had an easy time of it but has tired from keeping on her feet. The rapid punches that follow are enough to send you crashing to the floor with little hope of getting up again. It’s a cruel tactic from Faye but I absolutely love it. I’m just not sure how she’s going to write herself out of the cliffhanger she left us with.

WHY YOU SHOULD READ DOLLHOUSE
* Killer secrets to be revealed (and some that leave you hanging)
* The book contains some kinky shit… and I love it!
* Deals incredibly well with some very sensitive and difficult subjects

Escaping one nightmare only to wake up in another

This book was an emotional rollercoaster for me. Lee's life hasn't been easy and from the start of the book her husband was a piece of work.

She struggled with an abusive and unfaithful husband until one night he takes things too far.

Tate aka Lee starts her life over and is finally starting to get her legs back underneath her until she's introduced to three strangers that have been watching her since she rolled into town.

But are they all strangers? The twists and turns, heart ache, and trauma made this book a page turner that I couldn't put down until the end. But that ending, definitely left me on the edge of my seat.

Please read the trigger and content warnings there are some pretty dark topics and violence that some could find disturbing.

Can't wait to start the next book. Spice is 3.5 but steamy. Definitely a must read.

Let’s start by saying PLEASE read the trigger warnings before diving in if you have any at all. This one is dark and has heavy themes.
This book had me so immersed I think I lost track of time.
Lee has lived such a tragic life and the further we get the more tragic it gets. She finally gets herself a little bit of freedom and it’s taken from her just as quickly as it came.
This is a dark why choose. Rowan Eli and King have no intention of keeping Tate but after spending time with her will they be able to pass her along?
What the hell was that ending?! I’m immediately jumping into book 2 because I need to know what happens next!!

Ma’am I don’t know who gave your permission to create such an amazing story!!! I can’t even put into words my thoughts and feelings. My freaking heart aches for everything that Tate was out through all of her pain all of her trauma and gut wrenching heartache and yet she still managed to pull herself out of this never ending hell and crate a new life just to be dragged into another type of hell one that might not be so bad 😉 especially with these three sexy AF men who all have this instant attraction and this undying need to be near her to know more about her and most of all protect and give her the world. But the danger that lurks in the shadows from her past are definitely working overtime… I feel like we have barely scratched the surface with this story especially when it comes to Tate and her relationship with the three guys. I was captivated from the first moment I cracked this baby open and there was no chance I would be putting it down until I finished and that freaking explosive ending seriously!!!!! I was freaking yelling. I cannot wait until the next book like I need that Bish like I need my next breath. Screw 5 stars this baby is a 10!!!!!

*Slight spoilers*

Dollhouse is Kyla Faye's debut novel and book #1 in the Down We Go series; it's a *very* dark and steamy RH romance. Yes, there are some unsettling scenes/incidents, hence it might discourage you from reading this book. But please try to keep an open mind because personally, it's a compelling story with all of its gut/heart wrenching incidents and circumstances. Witnessing what the heroine experienced in the past: her despair, pain and sorrow was vivid and heartbreaking to see. I don't easily get affected/triggered but... it was intense. Nevertheless, Kyla Faye pulled me into the story; addressing these sensitive subjects so well. And as the storyline started to unfold, I wasn't disappointed! The drastic change of events completely caught me off guard!!! I loved the sudden shift, it exceeded my expectations!! And it got better and better as I turned each page. It was captivating; I was unable to put it down. And don't even get me started on the plot twists! The suspenseful ending though! My gosh! I hope book #2 will be released soon. All the characters have great relationship dynamics with each other. But they sure do have dark fantasies/desires (please check triggers before reading). I enjoyed seeing their interactions and internal dialogues, even when they were remembering/talking about their painful memories.

A story of five characters intertwining together: Eli, King, Rowan, Lee and Tate. Each characters' build up to their backstory was amazing! Flowing effortlessly as the plot unravelled. Finding herself in a difficult situation Tate is trying to understand these men's motive(s). Despite the circumstances, from the moment they met, King and Tate hit it off instantly creating a connection. King is the most expressive one out of three; he is not afraid of expressing his emotions. Hence, he made it clear that wanted Tate from the start. Eli is reserved and guarded; he doesn't easily react, he's always in control. It took a while for Eli's character to unravel; to let down his guard. And Rowan, well, he has a temper; he's hot-headed and he acted a complete j*rk towards Tate. But he had his reasons. Rowan constantly had an internal battle with himself. And Tate had these lethal men wrapped around her little finger; they adore her. With everything Tate lived through, it pushed her to be the person she's today. She's stronger than she realized.

Lee can be seen as a fragile and delicate character, but she's a fighter through and through. I mean, she endured all the pain inflicted on her for so many years. Lee is well aware of her situation; she's not in denial but it was impossible to leave. Ever since she was a young girl, Lee has had a fascination and fixation with death. And being trapped in an abusive relationship Lee's "dark thoughts" increased tenfold. To the outside world, she has a perfect marriage: a loving, caring and successful husband who is well known in the community. But that's far from the truth. No one is aware of the dire situation she is in.  Then there's Tate, she's dark and gloomy; she is not much of  a "people person" preferring her own company.  With a fresh start in a new city, Tate is working at "Sinners", a well known elite exclusive club when her path crossed three mysterious men. She was automatically drawn to them.  Tate doesn't know how powerful these men are, but she's about to find out.  Eli, Rowan and King rule the city; they are ruthless, brutal and dangerous. What do Tate and Lee have in common? Well... you are going to have to read and find out.

ARC provided in exchange for an honest review

I have read several debuts this year, all of them very good, but I think Dollhouse has something very special! Kyla Faye managed to write characters with raw, twisted and horrible pasts, but I still make you enjoy reading them, obviously not with the tragic parts, however not everything is sad and depressing, because there is a lot of love between its characters, a very interesting plot, secrets to discover, shocking revelations and an ending that left me wanting the next book.

This book dived into the dark theme from the very first page, and it did so by telling the story of Lee, a girl who has faced hell for most of her life, and has survived, his story is totally heartbreaking and full of every type of abuse imaginable, unimaginable, and situations that are discovered throughout the pages of Dollhouse, however , Lee is a fighter and is willing to obtain her freedom at any cost, she has a simple personality, sometimes a bit pessimistic, but she cannot be judged after the life she has led, she says what she thinks and knows how to get what seh want. One of the things that broke my heart the most about her character was that, despite the life she has led, she has always been able to see the good in people, especially Rowen, and that the only thing she really wants is to find someone who really loved her and is willing to protect her.

Lee's life takes many unexpected twists and turns throughout the book, and one of them leads her to cross paths with Rowen, King & Eli, three very different men who share a special bond and have a deep love for each other. They, like Lee, have faced quite difficult situations at an early age and have had to learn to survive with the help of the other. I think Lee, he faces constant guilt for his actions in the past, he's grumpy, has a bad character and is often carried away by anger, but deep down he's nothing more than a boy destroyed by tragedy, with a good heart and just as adorable as the rest. King is the funny, joking, sensitive and the simplest of the three, he is not afraid to show what he feels, especially his attraction to Lee, and is the most bloodthirsty of the three . Eli is the serious one, a little distrustful and who cannot escape the voices in his head, it takes him a little longer to trust people and it 's almost impossible for him to open up to someone else besides his brothers.

Fate unites the lives of the boys and Lee in a peculiar and a bit strange way, where nothing is what it seems, and when she's threatened by an unknown person, Rowen, King & Eli are the The only ones who can help her, but the secrets that Lee continues to keep, Eli's mistrust and the traps of an unknown enemy complicate everything for the four of them. However, the chemistry between them cannot be denied,as well as the feelings that are beginning to arise and the internal conflicts that all this brings, especially for Rowen & Eli. It was still very nice to read these four spending time together, caring for each other, and having totally normal moments amid the chaos their lives turn into.

The plot is another great point in favor of the story, I think Kayla Faye did a wonderful job maintaining the mystery, suspense and tension between her characters and for the readers, there was a specific situation that seemed a bit unreal, but I can let it go because it's a minimal detail, and because I think the story is very well executed from beginning to end. There are also some details that have me confused regarding the ending, but that is rather because I do not want to jump to the obvious conclusions and be surprised with the next book, which, I must say, I need it now!

I really wanted to like this book. But is had every cliché possible in it. To the point I felt that it had copied and pasted the big bits of previous bestsellers and basically put it together.

I really wanted to like the FMC. The woman has literally gone through the absolute worst life can offer. But sadly she’s just annoying. Nothing about her character fits with how and who she is portrayed to be. It’s really frustrating!!!!

“What in the world did I just read? OMG! I thought I knew what darkness mean but Kyla showed me how wrong I was. Not kidding this book was dark and the intensity of it was beyond captivating. There are stories that takes nothing to figure out how it will develop but Dollhouse was full of twists! When I thought I figured it out BOOM another turn that changed things.

Tate was a fighter and after everything she went through her fire and energy is nothing more but admirable. And let’s not talk about Rowen, Eli and Kind because… she’s a lucky girl! Each one of them is different and they scream danger, passion and lust lol. Expect all the *wink wink* moments between them. Like I said she’s a lucky girl.

If you like dark and steamy RH romances this debut novel is for you, trust me! Though that ending was…a rollercoaster!”

All Lee ever wanted was from freedom and to break from her past.
Suffering far more than anyone ever should.
She flees to a happier place to start over, only she's run to the city of her past.
She gets settled, but all is not what it seems, and she ends up in the hands of 3 strangers…

“She's calling to me like a siren… and little does she know, I'm soon going to answer that call.”

Kyla's debut book was amazing. A Dark, Twisted Story.
Lees story is tragic from the get go, learning her history and all the things she's suffered was heartbreaking. So many secrets and twists, they left me devouring the book to find out what would happen next, and I read it in less than a day. That cliffhanger, though, wowzer.

If you love Dark Romance with Kidnapping trope and plenty of spice, read this.
Please take note of the trigger warnings.

𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴: ✯✯✯✯✯
𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄: Kyla Faye just left me speechless with her debut, I repeat, her freaking debut!!!

That's all I'm gonna say.

Okay maybe that's not all I'm gonna write here.

I'm gonna keep my review short I don't think I can type anything about this book without spoiling it.

I was hooked from the very first page of this book and I was like "Oh hell I'm going to love this book." I do.

Dollhouse is one of the darkest and hottest books I've ever read in my life. Everything about this book screams 𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿, 𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 and 𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝘀𝗵*𝘁. I was biting my lips so hard while reading the smuts..... damn it was so hot I wanna read it again 🥵💦 And the crimes and illegal activities, definitely a turn on for people like me 😩✋🏼

The characters of this book; Tate, Rowen, Kind and Eli, each of them owns my heart, especially Rowen and Tate. My babies have went through so much 🥺 Also, I'm jealous of Tate cause she gets to ✨bang✨ all the three men but not me? Sis that's not how this sh*t works 😊 Anyways, I love her so Imma let her go. *sobs*

And well, the ending was unexpected. Like I was aware it would end in a cliffhanger but I wasn't expecting that ending. And I'm definitely not fine with it. I think I'm going to start a petition soon if the author doesn't release the second book right now!!!!! I'm not okay with the ending!!!!!!!!!

If you like dark romance full of segsy smuts (three ruthless men included), quick burn, reverse harem and morally grey characters, then go and read this book!!!!!! If I have to beg you to read it, imma do that 'cause you don't expect such an incredible book which turned out to be the debut novel of the author 😩✋🏼

Don't forget to check the trigger warnings before reading and remember, it ends with a cliffhanger!

Go read this book to get your mind blown away!!!!

Deliciously Dark and Thrilling!

WOW! This story instantly takes us on a very heartbreaking and utterly gut-wrenching journey. It sucks us in right from the start, rips our hearts out, has us gasping for breath and gripping our kindles tightly until that jaw dropping ending! I am completely blown away and left reeling with WTF did I just finish reading! This story is dark, depraved, twisted, violent, bloody and utterly delicious. It’s one hell of a rollercoaster ride filled with the unimaginable, sickening debauchery, wicked corrupt individuals and unbearable pain.

Lee’s story gutted me. There is so much that she has been through in her short life that it is surprising that she can seem to rise above it all and become stronger from it. She’s one hell of a survivor and a warrior, but slightly unhinged at times. Her story takes so many turns that the truth of it all never really surfaces leaving us guessing on the outcome. She’s a complex character with many secrets that only slowly get revealed leaving us shocked by their revelations.

Rowan, King and Eli are dangerous, wicked, violent and so damn sexy. They will do anything to get what they want and aren’t afraid to get a little bloody along the way. These three men have an instant connection with Tate (Lee) and can’t keep their hands off her. It’s intense, it’s hot, it’s damn right panty exploding!

This story is really well written with some slightly unhinged and damaged characters who you can’t help but love (some that you want to kill), and with a storyline that is so dark and twisted, and filled with shocking wicked curveballs that you never see coming.

I loved every second of it and can’t wait to see how the story progresses.

Wow! This is seriously a debut novel by Kyla Faye? Dollhouse truly blew my mind in all the best ways. I fell hard for this author’s creative imagination, world development and style of writing. For her first book, she knocked this ball slam out of the park. The plot was magnetic, addictive and kept me glued within the pages to the very end. This story was really different in several ways. If the mystery doesn’t pull you in, then the characters certainly will. There are five of them; three boys and two girls. Each one of them have layered personalities mixed with dark and painful pasts but have grown to get what they want and fight to keep it.
Tate and Lee are two women with a shared past that have left them scarred and broken but determined to move past their trauma. Eli, King and Rowan have very different yet unique personalities and their characteristics fit together like a puzzle especially when you add in Tate and Lee. I couldn’t begin to describe their different relationships. So much is happening within the plot that I don’t want to give anything away. My best advice is to go in blind and buckle up for one hell of a ride.
There is a cliffhanger that felt like it reached in my chest, squeezed my lungs and put tiny cuts in my heart. I cannot wait until the next book. Please heed the trigger warnings: sexual assault, violence and blood play. If you can get past that, then I highly recommend you give this book a chance. You won’t regret it. I don’t know when I’ll get this out of my head. Book hangover from hell here! This is my honest opinion, freely given.

Absolutely Dark and Fantastic Can’t Wait For Book Two!!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Review

This was absolutely dark and tragic but definitely fantastic!! Failed and betrayed by the system that’s meant to protect her and then later by a husband that’s meant to love and cherish her Lee decides she’s no longer willing to be a victim. She manages to find a way out and changes everything about herself.

Lee finds herself back where she grew up dancing at an elite club and it’s there she meets 3 mysterious men that she feels an instant pull to. Rowen, King and Eli they feel the pull too but they’ve made a deal and they mean to keep it so they take Lee and everything gets crazy from there. There’s steam, love, blood, death and sadly more betrayal with them but this is a dark romance so it’s expected.

This story comes with TW and please be aware of them. Lee’s past is tragic and extremely dark but it has only made her a strong and tough woman who fights to survive. She goes thru a lot and you will live thru every moment with her when reading this. It ends on an extreme cliffhanger and will leave you absolutely gutted and desperate to find out what happens in the next book. I’m hoping it’s sooner rather than later but the wait will be worth it!! 100% recommend this book!!

This was a 3.5 star for me.

I know many people are going to think my rating is based on the darkness of the book, but it is not. I think there was a big shift in the book and the male characters changed a bit too much for my liking. It almost felt like they went from badass criminals to puppy dogs because they got some action. Then switch back to the immoral criminal. I could be wrong but that is just how I felt about the MMCs.

I also found myself skimming and trying to get to the more interesting parts of the book. This is why I gave it a 3.5 and not a 5. I also need to state this and be a broke record (I know most everyone has probably said this in their review) take the trigger warnings seriously! This is the darkest book I have ever read. But I liked those parts of the book because they made me feel uncomfortable among other things lol but if a book can make you feel any kind of emotion, or give you any kind of reaction, that is a good writer.

If you are looking for spicy and dark this is the book for you. Again, this won't be for everyone but it was a good book to pass the time while I waited for another book to release. I probably won't be reading the second book (mainly because an amazon review rudely posted a spoiler with no warning).

I truly had to sit with my thoughts for a while when I finished reading Dollhouse. This book ends on a massive cliffhanger. Usually, I like cliffhangers, but this one was super intense. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed the read and will be continuing the series for sure. My rating of book 1 may change a bit depending upon the direction book 2 takes. This is a dark romance, and I really enjoyed reading it. The world and character building were good. I personally like a bit more detail. The story was not necessarily unique, but it was still good. This read includes: reverse harem, dark themes, forced proximity, kidnapping, torture, death, miscarriage, child $e× @bu$e, domestic v!0len(e, cutting, and more.

My heat rating is based on the amount of occurrence, length of scenes, and how filthy/unconventional. This earns a solid 5 out of 5 🌶. The scenes are often and lengthy. This is about as unconventional as it gets. Blood play, $e× @bu$e, reverse harem, exhibitionism, sadism, masochism, degradation, and more.

4.25 Stars!!

As soon as i stumbled across a post about this book on social media i knew right then and there i needed this book in my life! I added it to my TBR List right away and couldn't wait to get into it. Once i started reading it i got into this story and the darkness of the Down We Go world right away! I so enjoyed it!

Right from the prologue, Lee's journey got my full attention and didn't let go! I wasn't sure what all to expect in this story which got me into it even more with every page turn. I loved how i felt so many things from start to finish. I enjoyed what Eli, King, and Rowen brought to the story and definitely the RH aspect of it as well!

With Dollhouse, Ms.Faye has created such a great debut that will keep you glued to your kindle! Her writing packed a realness that hooked me instantly. I can't wait for more of her words and the next Down We Go book!
