"Deadly Behavior" is Book 2. in the Dr. David Rothberg series. Although it is a sequel to "Dangerous Behavior" it can be read as a stand-alone novel.
Victor Thomas Janko, the infamous "Baby Carriage Killer" has escaped from the Vanderkill Prison Hospital where David works as a psychiatrist. David feels responsible, since Victor was his patient, and he was unable to pick up on Victor's intention to escape. David's guilt is exacerbated when Victor goes on a killing spree after he goes free. "Deadly Behavior" follows two stories — one is the events that take place in the escaped inmate's life, and the other is David's determined pursuit of the killer in order to bring him to justice. In the end, the two stories come together in a climax of shocking violence.
This 2nd book in this series was even better than the 1st! It started fast and never slowed down. Victor Janko is at it again. And Daisy isn't far behind. She is still convinced that Victor killed her mother. And she wants him dead. She will do anything and use anyone she has to. Will Dr. David get caught up in her clutches? Who really killed the 2nd guard at the prison? What about the detective Nikki, has she gone overboard in her search for Victor? Find all the answers in this excellent book! Highly recommended.
I hung on every word, even and especially the ones I had to look up. It was pure pleasure to see these rather unfamiliar words used with precision to make the descriptions fit like a glove. Marks' character development was like the opening of a rose. The character was memorable in the beginning, then unfolded to show a deeper, richer blossoming. This kept going throughout the story. I never tired of this, instead was challenged to consider what I thought and what I wanted to happen. None of which happened, of course, to my delight. I am surprised at the number of typos for a book of this caliber, but they didn't distract and I didn't bother to make a note of them. I might for his next book, though. I highly recommend this book!
Horribly Written — Do NOT Try to Figure Out This Series
I stopped TRYING to read and understand this book about 20% of the the way through (Chapter 17); this 1st book of the series is horribly written, and comes across like a Kindergarten trainer … “See Dick. See Dick run. Dick ran to Jane. …” I can’t stomach any more of it, and have zero intentions of attempting to read the other books in the “Dr. David Rothberg series”
In order to read this book you would have to read the 1st book otherwise you won't understand the main storyline. This book captured my attention as their were two stories happening in one book in which it all came together at the end. All I can say is this story is a must read.
I read the first book, so I was intrigued with its sequel. The story moves quickly at times and can feel a bit forced, but overall this is a book that has some interesting twists and is worth a Sunday afternoon!
This a thrilling continuation of Dr Rothberg's story. While it definitely continued the story it would work well as a stand alone story. I'm hoping there is a book 3 in the works. Would love to continue this story.
There were some things in the book that made no sense. David Rothberg is a psychologist/psychiatrist and yet, he let his (former) patient spend the night with him. No sex, but still. The scenes at the plant were, sadly, based in reality with undocumented persons being treated worse than slaves.
An intriguingly absorbing story of exciting curiosity without a great deal of severe emotional intensity. Never let you down by veering off the subject at hand. Simultaneously, captivate your attention using straightforward, intelligible, and consistent language!
