By the time I reached Volume 2, I had gotten so used to the translation with all of its errors and inconsistencies that I stopped minding them at all. The focus on Dokja's experiences in the 73rd Demon Realm may have been entertaining to read about, but it also had me antsy for a reunion with all of his companions, one which seemed further out of reach with each progressive chapter. (It finally happened, though!) If the entire translation hadn't already been released by the time I started reading this series, the cliffhanger at the end of this volume would have made me weep.

Quiero gritar cada vez que termino un capítulo porque no puedo creer lo mucho que estoy disfrutando esta historia. Posta no esperaba encariñarme tanto con este mundo y con estos personajes. Me gustó más el primer volumen (aunque éste también me pareció espectacular), simplemente por el hecho de que muchas veces pensé "que ganas de leer el final" mientras leía este tomo. Tipo, presiento que el final me va a hacer verga mal, so I'm really looking forward to it lol la que no tenía problemitas.

Honestly, no voy a entender nunca a la gente que no siente la tensión entre Yoo Joonghyuk y Kim Dokja. Admito que yo shippeo cualquier cosa que se mueva, pero dale, how could you not ship these two? I mean:

LIFE AND DEATH COMPANIONS RAHHHHHH 😭😭😭

this was so good! i don't think i loved it as much as volume 1 as it didn't leave me sobbing my eyes out like the first one did, but still such a great read!

what continues to set orv apart for me is how phenomenally the action sequences are done. not only is the fight choreography beautiful and ridiculously fun, but there is such excellent character work done through them as well. this is especially true in the subway fight. i am not immune to power of friendship stores!! i was screaming my heart out!!

character wise- kim dokja and yoo joonghyuk continue to steal the show for me. their dynamic is just so goddamn well-written and satisfying to experience. them always introducing themselves as the other (and indirectly saving each other because of this)?? how they talk about each other?? (“'he came.'” i was so happy that i wanted to call out his name." “i believe in him….. in the first place, i came here bc i believed in him” hello????) when yjh thought he was dying and used what he thought were his final seconds to mentally apologize to kdj??? how much fourth round yjh missed kdj?? yjh not regressing????? yjh's reaction to the ending sequence??? yeah i am unwell. the way i feel about them isn’t necessarily romantic, but it’s definitely not platonic. a secret third thing perhaps. regardless of in what way, they are inarguably soulmates

i also love every member of kdj's party with my whole soul. i am not super attached to any of the new demon realm characters yet, and missed them so much throughout this one. i love the kids, i love baby biyoo, hell i even love fourth wall when it said "fri end" i cried. but who really grew on me here was lee hyunsung. his interactions with kdj in the ending fights.... i need our fuckass mc to stop traumatizing the people who love him and i need him to do it NOW

i also instantly adored the breaking the sky sword saint. i am a simple girl i meet a giant woman who could kill me and i instantly fall in love with her. pair that with her interactions with her disciple and i was smitten, especially when she watched yjh leave while looking at kdj and saying that he's not alone anymore?? oh my god. also, uriel!! she is so me. yjh says kim dokja and i start crying and slamming my fists on the ground, and then i look up and see the demon-like judge of fire popping up doing the same thing. she gets me fr

the foreshadowing continues to be great as well, i cannot wait to finish this story and have all the pieces come together. i have a few theories, most of which are probably wrong and me excessively overthinking. currently thinking a lot about kdjs dad naming him dokja… reader… everyone kdj kills with fourth wall goes to the library… library has all of orv… fourth wall blocks traumatic shit for kdj and kdj had blocked out that he killed his dad.. something is up here and if kdj who used what he read in wos to save yjh and prevent the fourth round happening saves him, how did wos have the other regressions that kdj read and used? a nice dissapearing from existence bc of a paradox ending may hit mmm (i would kill myself immediately)

and god the ending. i am sensing a pattern here! if this is saying anything about how the final volume will end, i'm killing myself!!!!! i do adore how each ending takes an early moment and redoes it in a way that makes me cry, book 1 with the "release your hand and get lost, you damn son of a bitch" scenes, and this one with kdj's giant story starting on the same subway orv started on

cannot wait to continue!!!

ps- this is the first book i've ever read where mpreg is canon. what a time to be alive

Reading ORV feels at times endless and at other times compelling. There are many dazzling parts with all the stories, fights, and beings present. Following Kim Dokja on his way through it all is intriguing. Yet, it’s overly verbose and I sometimes think that the reader gets to read five pages for every panel of the webtoon. At this point in the book (at 47% of the total story) I’m also asking myself how many new ideas will turn up and if those will keep the fresh air they had in the beginning.

I feel like I have a better understanding of the concept of this world building (incarcerations, constellations, dokkaebis, the star stream and places outside of it and all the probability issues) and am super curious about some ideas or things mentioned. It’s hard to avoid spoilers but whatever I’ve learned about them will only work out in the correct context. So, ORV is for once a book that’s not easily spoiled which is nice.

Honestly, I loved this part and whenever I read other and shorter books in between I think about ORV and sooner or later I want to get back to it. But I still feel the need to take breaks every few chapters and that’s the reason it’s not a full 5 stars book to me.

This portion of the webnovel did finally make me tear up though so I guess there's that.

Took a break for a month or two cause I wasn’t sure I was ready for the emotional rollercoaster this novel is gonna put me through. But obviously I’m here and I am fully ready. The storylines in this volume are INSANITY. Like Dokja going to the demon realm and becoming The 73rd demon king and also getting his moniker “Demon King of Salvation”. Meeting so many new characters like Jang Hayoung, who btw is so COOL. Also finally got some answers to questions I had since the start which were insane. The fucking PLOT TWISTS TOO OH AND ALSO THE REUNIONS. I WAS IN TEARS.
I ALREADY KNOW ILL CRY AT THE END OF THIS BUT I ALSO KNOW I DONT REGRET IT BECAUSE THIS STORY IS EVERYTHING IVE EVER WANTED IN A PIECE OF MEDIA. LIKE I LOVE DOKJA AND RELATE SO MUCH TO HIM. LIKE WHO WOULDNT WANT TO BE A FANFIC QUEEN. ALSO THAT MF POCKET WATCH. ON MY WAY TO BUY MY OWN ON ETSY

The second volume was entretaining, but in my opinion not at the same level as the first one.

The first volume on one hand was about the main character using his knowledge of what the apocalypse would have been like if he didn't exist to ensure the survival of himself and his group. A great premise and execution, with a great cast of distinct and interesting characters.

The second volume for the most part follows the main character after separating from the group, trying to become more powerful in order to face the challenges to come. This presents the first of its main flaws: The new supporting cast, while interesting, isn't as developed as as the first. For example, it introduces "The Second Protagonist" but he doesn't really live up to that title as of this volume.

The second main flaw is that the stakes also feel not nearly as high. In the first volume, failure meant the death of all the characters you now care about. In the second, failure means... the main character will cease to exist? him not becoming as powerful as he needs to be? At least until the final arc. Something I like about this novel is that (much like series like Avatar: The Last Airbender) it has an over arching plot but with lots of smaller somewhat self-contained arcs. The final arc is really good. The stakes are high again, and *spoilers* the original cast returns and it's great.

I'd say this book is like the Chamber of Secrets (my least prefered HP book) of the novel so far. Not the best, but it's not long and it's worth reading as part of the over-arching plot. Still entretaining, 3.5 stars.

No entiendo como es que siempre que pienso que no hay nada que me pueda sorprender de la historia llega un nuevo capítulo y me deja como tonta.

Realmente me lastima ver como Dokja con tal de salvarlos a todos termina dacrificandose siempre y todos tienen que seguir viviendo con ello. Es raro de expresar, pero me duele que les duela al grupo de Dokja. Aunque en realidad la única alternativa a eso sería que todos murieran y ciertamente no es el final que busca.

Ay no se, pensé que realmente podría regresar a Seúl luego de la elección del Rey Demonio y salen con esto 💔

This was slower than the first book for me (because of the lack of the main group) but it still had it's moments and i especially enjoyed the giant story arc (it was my endgame fr)

La verdad, leí estos capítulos dos veces (sip, asi de masoquista soy) y aunque leí esta parte en el webtoon lo sentí diferente en la novela, cosa no mala, más bien gratificante y que hace que el lector lea y lea. Dokja por otro lado, sigue siendo mi favorito y aún con sus ideas e intenciones locas, divertidas y que realmente no te esperabas 🫶✨

PD: Dokja es guapo, re guapo, no lo olviden 🫵 (especialmente los secundarios, una más y entro yo a la novela si dudan de la belleza de mi chico)
