I NEED the end fantasy story to be continued! Did anyone write a full fanfiction of this idea? Because if not, this needs to happen, it was so much fun! Basically MHA goes full Dungeons & Dragons and I’m here for it!
Aside from that story I didn’t like this volume quite as much as Volume 5, but it still had some really good ones. My favorites (aside from UA Quest, of course) are the kids being convinced their dorm is haunted, which was hilarious; Ida’s usual day keeping his classmates in line, because Ida is amazing and the author nailed him to a T; and Koda’s rabbit’s POV, which was super clever and creative.
The biggest problem I had was in the story “Cheers”, one of the teachers, Thirteen, is called a “he” when she’s actually a woman, and the only conclusion I can think of for this mistake is that early in the manga series the mangaka never specified what gender Thirteen was until much later as she’s not a huge character. In fact, I only found out her gender at first from the anime when she’s obviously voiced by a woman, so I think this was a “mangaka wasn’t sure as of this being written” type of mixup, as she’s a she in Volume 5.
Another fun volume, definitely will keep reading these!

Petits !! Détails !!)
On voit all might développer des liens sociaux avec les autres profs mais qui fait une overdose de sociabilité (relatable), on voit comment todoroki considère ses nouveaux amis et s'inspire de leurs qualités et les aiment d'amour (relatable), les élèves noient Iida sous une avalanche d'affection et de gratitude pour tout ce qu'il fait pour eux et pour être l'enfant le plus pur ever (relatable), on est plongés dans la tête d'un lapin qui croit que Bakugo va le torturer et le manger tout cru avant de comprendre qu'il a un bon fond et qu'il est juste émotionnellement constipé (relatable)
Ils me rendent trop fragiles, j'ai ri de bonheur, gloussé d'excitation, pleuré d'émotions, et bref cette oeuvre me rend juste trop heureuse
Finally a book that doesn't have the obnoxious Mineta dragging it down.
Story #1- Revolves around the POV of All Might, who is finally getting Aizawa that drink he promised. All Might attempts to bond with Aizawa but finds all his efforts rebuked by Aizawa's aloof personality. All Might is saved from the awkward encounter by the appearance of Midnight and Present Mic, who quickly invite the other teachers to come party with them. The small get together quickly turns into a drunken party. All Might (who can't and won't drink) begins to feel like he's ruining the party mood, until two surprising characters reveal their true feelings for the legend turned teacher.
A cute story that shows the more "human" side of the UA faculty.
Story #2- Revolves around the POV of Todoroki, shortly after the classes have moved into the dorms. Todoroki loses something precious to him. While desperately looking for it he comes across Mei Hatsume. Who, while moving her "babies" to her dorm, causes them to accidentally malfunction resulting in Todoroki and Recovery Girl getting captured by a runaway invention...
Basically, this story covers Todoroki's feelings towards his parents, his mother in particular, and how he managed to transform his dorm room from the standard room to the Japanese motif that astounded everyone. It also sets the plot for the next story.
Story #3- Class 1A is surprised when Monoma suddenly shows up at their dorm building demanding a tour of the boys rooms. While being shown around and criticizing everyone's decoration choices (proclaiming their rooms windows to their true personalities) he is eventually stopped (before starting a fight) by the apperance of Kendo, Pony Tsunotori, and Tetsutetsu. Monoma demands they play a game to officially settle which class is superior. Todoroki offers a children's game given to him by Mei Hatsume as thanks from the last chapter. Of course, with Mei Hatsume, nothing is what it really seems and chaos quickly ensues.
Story #4- A couple of kids from Class 1A are telling scary stories in Tokoyami's room. After trying and failing to scare each other, they ask Tokoyami to tell a scary story. He tells them the story of the "Hundred Tales" about a stalking ghost who kills anyone who sees them or hears their story. Shortly after that strange things begin to happen around the dorm...is it mass hysteria or is Class 1A's dorm truly haunted by a vengeful spirit brought forth by Tokoyami's tale?
Story #5- Revolves entirely around Ida. This is a very cute story with a brief appearance from the Big Three (before they were asked to speak to Class 1A).
This story follows Ida's strict daily routine which is almost derailed by the strange behavior of his classmates who are going to great lengths to avoid being around him. He begins to think they don't like how strict he's been when the class reveals a big surprise for their very disciplined Class President.
Story #6- Is from the POV of Koji's rabbit, who escapes from Koji's room during Midoriya and Bakugo's house arrest. The rabbit offers insight into Koji's shy personality and reveals some surprising revelations about Bakugo's explosive temper and volatile relationship with Midoriya.
Story #7- Is a bonus story. It's a fantasy version of MHA in which everyone has been moved from the modern times to a more medieval fantasy setting. Class 1A is still in the spotlight sans their usual Quirks (Ida is a Knight, Uraraka is a mage, etc) as they try to find out why heroes, including the undefeatable All Might, have suddenly disappeared. Midoriya is encouraged to join the search after having a dream in which All Might asks him for help and proclaims the eager young man his apprentice.
I actually thought this one was a little dry and a tad boring. But the rest of the stories are worth the read for any MHA fan.
This was probably my favorite of the light novels so far, especially the story of Bakugo and Izuku chasing the rabbit. The medieval story at the end was fun too, as that's one of my favorite official arts of the series
These were so cute. The stories got better for me as they went along too.
Part 1: Cheers - 2/5 stars --It's about the teachers going out for a drink. It just didn't interest me that much.
Part 2: Dramatic Makeover - 3/5 stars -- Todoroki and Mei Hatsume get to interact in this one a lot which was amusing.
Part 3: Playtime is Over! - 3/5 stars -- Class B shenanigans
Part 4: The Hundred Tales of US - 4/5 stars -- Tokoyami tells a spooky story and it kinda comes to life. The kids think a ghost is haunting the dorms now.
Part 5: A Day in the Life of a Class President - 4/5 stars -- Iida thinks his friends are all avoiding him, but really they're planning a surprise birthday party. It was really cute.
Part 6: I Am a Rabbit - 4/5 stars -- From the POV of Koda's rabbit. Takes place when Deku and Bakugo are stuck under house arrest and they have to catch the rabbit.
Bonus: UA Quest - 3/5 stars -- Fantasy AU! I'd have liked it to be longer tbh. Felt rushed, but was still fun.
This was yet another cute light novel set during season three of the anime. This book is probably the best one yet due to the stories being more fun and about the other more loveable characters rather than focusing on Mineta.
A lot of this book had me smiling and laughing, almost all of these six short stories were amusing and great to read. The first one, which is about All Might and Aizawa going out for drinks after work until the other teachers join them was so funny. I enjoyed seeing a more lighthearted side to the teachers and especially my husband, Shouta Aizawa, and his 'not drunk' drunken actions, and don't even get me started on Thirteen and his nature rambles.
Another story was based on the students moving into the dormitories, and it mostly followed Shoto Todoroki, who was chasing after a picture of him and his mother. When he bumped into another one of my favourite characters, Mei Hatsume from the support course, things soon take an odd turn when her 'babies' begin causing trouble. I liked seeing Shoto's POV and seeing a more softer and emotional side to him in this one. I'm calling it that the mats and traditional Japanese furnishings he got for his room were originally his dad's.
The ghost story one was also a particularly funny one. I loved seeing the students all hang out and try to spook each other, it was so funny when they all freaked out and accidentally got Aizawa and Present Mic caught in the crossfire. The resolution made me giggle so much. The following story, told from the POV of Koda's rabbit named Little Yuwai was sweet, when the bunny escapes it's down to Bakugo and Midoriya to capture him, but seeing how they work together and even the rabbit noticing how Bakugo isn't all that bad, and how him and Midoriya have the potential to be good friends was adorable.
The last story felt really out of place, but not in a bad way. It's a fantasy, medieval alternate universe, using the main MHA plot to narrate a Tolkien style adventure. The story wasn't wrapped up, so I'm hoping we get more in the later light novels.
Overall, this still wasn't anything mindblowingly amazing, but was still an entertaining read whilst I wait on the rest of season seven!
Muy entretenido y ligerito😌 En general han estado chachis todas las historias menos una que me ha sobrado un poco y en otra que sobraban las intervenciones de Mineta (como siempre)
I literally cannot decide which story was my favorite! Another great read created by Anri Yoshi! There is another School Briefs to come, but according to sources, we'll have to wait till March 2020 to get out hands on the english version. So, there are three things I wish to say before signing off: 1. Another must read for My Hero Academia fans! 2. My Hero Academia: School Briefs vol.4 will be translated and released in March 2020! and 3. I hope there will be more School Briefs (after vol. 4) to come! Enjoy :)
I'm really enjoying this side series of light novels. I was originally worried that they would just feel like 'filler' and not give the characters or story any substance, but these stories flesh out characters and the different relationships between both students and teachers.
School Briefs 3: Dorm Days is set after the Kamino Ward arc, where the kids move into the dorms at U.A. High School, and like previous volumes features multiple stories about various characters.
The first story is about the teachers having some fun outside of classes. It was hilarious to see them all hanging out together, getting drunk and loosening up, showing more of their personalities that one doesn't get to see from a student's point of view, since they have to act professional all the time. It was great to see the different relationships between them too, like Aizawa and All Might, Present Mic and Midnight, Thirteen, Cementoss, and more! There are really interesting snippets that we learn about each character, like how All Might can't drink alcohol anymore and is the only sober one out of the entire party.
The next story goes back to the 1-A kids as they move into the dorms, and it really highlights Todoroki Shouto, giving us more insight into his dysfunctional family and his homelife, and about how his room is transformed into something more traditional by Japanese standards than the other bedrooms. It also gives us interactions we haven't seen before, between Recovery Girl, Todoroki, and Mei.
Then the next story looks at the other students in the dorms as they move in, giving us more interactions between 1-A and 1-B, especially involving Monoma Neito. Fun challenges and characters hanging out together. It's simple and fun but really enjoyable to read. It makes a change from being in constant danger and fearing for the kids' and teachers' lives. Even Sero and Tokoyami get some spotlight as they tell spooky stories to their classmates.
I feel like a broken record at this point, because I feel like I've mentioned him in every review of this series, but why do the writers insist on repeatedly giving Mineta the spotlight? There are plenty of characters who deserve more of the spotlight than him, yet writers keep putting him at the forefront. It's awful to read him trying to perv on the teenage girls without any consequences. I mean, as I've said before, I know there's cultural differences between the Eastern and Western worlds, but Aizawa even puts him on a boys only floor of the dorms because he's fearful of Mineta trying to get into any of the girls rooms. If you have to go that far to stop him from sexually assaulting the girls, just kick him out already! I'm actually sick of his character. I hate him in the anime/main manga, and the fact that he's being given so much time in the side stories is very irritating.
The next story gives Iida some spotlight, showing how he takes his role as class president far too seriously it's almost comical, but also shows how much his classmates care for him, even as he gets slightly annoying harping on them for every little bit of tardiness. It's sweet to see the friendships between them all.
Even Koda Koji and his relationships with other classmates gets some time, someone who's used very little in the main series. Although weirdly enough it's done through the eyes of his pet rabbit. We get to learn more about his quirk, Anivoice, and how it works on animals. It's basically a lesser form of Shinsou's mind control quirk, which was a very interesting discovery.
Finally, there's a short fantasy story set in the AU of the anime's second ending song's fantasy setting. That was a really exciting read. I love reading fantasy AU fanfiction of this series, and to see them actually write a story set in that world was so much fun. I wish there was more of it. Bring on that fantasy OVA we fans want!
Overall, despite the ridiculous amount of time spent on Mineta (hence the 0.5 star reduction) I really enjoyed this light novel, and I'm definitely going to pick up the next volume.
This one was really cute and offered some more insight into a few characters that don’t often get the chance to shine. My favorite story in the entire series was the one at the beginning where the UA teachers go out for drinks. It was lovely getting to see All Night’s shy side as he awkwardly tried to get Aizawa to be his friend and struggled with being the only sober one amongst his colleagues.
I enjoyed the story about the class trying to throw Ida a surprise party! It was adorable seeing how much he does to take care of the others and how he worried they were tired of him being so bossy. Especially considering Bakugo actually helped keep the surprise. Ida really is one of my favorites!
I really loved the story about Koda’s rabbit and the insight into how Bakugo and Midoriya act around each other when they’re alone on house arrest. It was cute that the rabbit saw Bakugo’s soft side and remarked that the boys get along better than other people often see.
I also liked the fantasy AU story, especially the bits about Bakugo and Midoriya’s childhood!
This one is a recommend if you like the manga.

I'm glad I managed to finally finish this one! While I'm not sure I like it more than the first light novel, I do think that I enjoyed it more than the second one. It was an interesting look at some of the shenanigans that happen early on when the kids first move into the Heights Alliance dorms, plus a rather endearing first chapter with the teachers, a chapter from the perspective of Koda's pet rabbit, and a bonus chapter set in the fantasy AU that was the backdrop of one of the early end credits of the anime. (This bonus chapter was particularly silly and lighthearted, which feels appropriate.) We get a lot of Mei Hatsume in this light novel, largely indirectly, but it was nice to see her utilized, and we get some additional great character development for Shoto Todoroki and Tenya Iida.
Like I've said about these books before: Fun, quick little reads to whet your appetite while waiting for the next installment in the larger story (whether in the manga or in the anime). It's nice to see these characters in the more "humdrum" moments of their lives. My favorite stories were the ones that focused on the teachers (seeing them kick back and relax) or the story where Class 1-A thought their dorm was haunted. I got a nice little chuckle there (plus, a Aizawa and Present Mic cameos!). If you're an MHA fan and you want some more time with the characters, this will definitely do just that.

This is a book that I haven't read in a while. And coming back to it, I have to say I enjoyed reading it. The story is a nice turn away from the prominent line manga and treats the characters like teenagers with powers. I liked many of the short stories that the characters living in their dormitory. Especially the story of Koda's pet rabbit scurrying throughout the dorm, making the other students of class 1-A think it's haunted. The only real criticism that I have for the story is that some of the stories should focus on other minor characters like some pro heroes (ex. Endeavor, Hawks). But other than that, This is a solid book that I think My Hero fans will enjoy.

It was great to see the teachers in a space without students, finally able to relax a little, or at least try to, especially in the presence of All Might, the idol and inspiration for so many of them.
And I don't know if this will become my permanent complaint with these novels, but once again: Mineta. He’s the one thing keeping this from being a personal five-star read. I truly don’t understand how Aizawa allows him to be so close to the girls, I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night with him nearby.
But on a much better note, THANK YOU for that amazing analysis of Bakugou’s character and the evolution of his dynamic with Izuku. No one can make me hate you, you little angry Pomeranian.
So far this book is my favorite of the School Brief series, overshadowing both volumes one and two. Perhaps this is connected to there being SIGNIFICANTLY less Mineta, but who could say? Cute, short, and engaging stories. The bonus chapter featuring the fantasy AU was especially fun and I am hopeful to see continuations in future School Brief volumes.
Something of note: this book has 261 pages, not the ~224 that goodreads reports. Not sure if this is a mobile-only issue but I thought I'd mention it for those who care.
The second story in this book - the one about Ida's birthday - gave me such warm fuzzies that I nearly hugged the book. This is definitely the best of the three novels out in America and it was truly delightful to read. Like the others the writing style is simple and casual, but I knew that going into it. It was a wonderfully easy read and a light-hearted look into the lives of the characters I know and love from the show.
My favorite of the 4 so far. All the stories are very heart warming and wholesome. These kids are precious. The book also included a story with all the teachers taking a breather, which is one of the best chapters for me (yes I love me some stoic and tippsy teachers).
I also loved the idea of Tokoyami telling a ghost story, which in turns ruffled everyone's sanity believe their dorm was haunted. That chapter delivered.
Tenya Iida is still precious. More Todoroki-Midoriya friendship.
Brilliant third volume of School Briefs, especially the stories about Koda's bunny Little Yuwai, the horror stories with Tokoyami and the teachers drinking meeting! As usual, it includes great side stories that still keep the great, enjoyable feelings from the main story! This and Vigilantes are must reads for any My Hero fan
I can't believe this contained an I Am a Cat parody featuring a student's pet bunny. Like, wouldn't that go over the head of even the Japanese intended audience?
It’s really nice seeing the kids of 1A acting their age in this light atmosphere as we get a glimpse of their everyday lives in moving into the dormitories. My favorite story would probably be 1A going against 1B in a friendly game. Reading the novel is a good idea if you are curious about the fantasy AU that is seen in the anime’s ending credits. The book goes over a bit of it.
