Blood Grace is a rich, layered, and immersive series that has completely captivated me, and Blood Sanctuary Part Two is a fantastic addition to it. It’s a slow-building, character-driven story with extraordinarily dynamic characters and an epic love story. The novel is vivid, layered, and unbelievably detailed. From the mythology to the politics to the characters and relationships, you really gain a deep and thorough understanding of the plot, setting, characters, and more. Roth has created an immense world to explore, and each aspect of it is nuanced and meticulously crafted.

The political maneuvering, intrigue, and manipulations are high-stakes, and the threat of war constantly looms, which creates a tense and suspenseful atmosphere. And there are some major twists that I totally didn’t expect! Cassia and Lio are so desperate to bring peace to their people, but it seems like an impossibility, especially as events unfold in this book. I’ll be curious to see what the couple’s next steps are since it seems like every time they make good progress something happens to foil them.

Of course, the highlight of the novel for me is the swoon-tastic romance between Cassia and Lio. I adore this couple, and am so rooting for them to find happiness and peace together!! Cassia and Lio’s bond continues to grow deeper and more defined, and, if possible, they grow even closer in this book. They seem like they are on the same page and are united in their love for each other and their goals for their people. This is a couple that is truly stronger when they’re together. They are so in love with each other, and they make each other want to be the best versions of themselves. I love their character and relationship arcs and how their feelings have grown and changed over the course of the series.

Cassia really shines in this book, and I love all of the new and significant relationships she’s embracing. Her life has changed so dramatically, and she has found a place not only where she feels a sense of belonging, but where she is accepted, loved, and respected. As much as Lio has changed her, so have the other humans and Hesperines in her life. These characters are also dynamically developed, and I like that we continue to learn more about all of them. Roth could legit do a bunch of spin-offs about some of the secondary characters. They are all so interesting and unique, and the more I learn about each, the more I want to know.

I also enjoyed all of the powerful messages throughout the story. Embracing change, fighting for what you believe in, dealing with loss, grief, and mental health, finding strength in family, gender inequities, and honoring the many fulfilling types of love are just some of the themes highlighted, and they are poignant messages that many of the characters face and identify with. It’s interesting – while the world is completely different from ours, the themes and situations are entirely relatable and relevant. I can’t wait for the next book in the series and am eager for Cassia to take the next step in her union with Lio and the Hesperines. Special thanks to Vela Roth for providing me with a copy of the book. All thoughts are my own.

Negotiations are drawing to an end and the situation is more precarious than ever.

Could their work be all for nothing in the end? The summit could end up in war, after all. The Cordium mages have shown their hands, and it has thrown the entire embassy into an uproar. It seems like their king is so willing to start a war he does not care for their safety while in Orthros.

Lio and Cassia must work together frantically to appease both sides. They have to settle the Tenebran embassy and convince them they are the ones Orthros is negotiating with. At the same time, they have to stop the Departure, which seems more imminent than ever.

It seems their romance wasn't completely hidden, like they thought. But how would the humans feel knowing Cassia intends to stay in Orthros after the embassy leaves?

This book has more action and fight than solely political intrigue. We are introduced to new and relatively unknown threats, like Old Masters. The battle of wills between them and Crysanthos is at an all-time high and we find out more about his brother and why he hates Hesperines so much.

One question has been bothering me for a while, though - is Prometheus still alive? Will we ever know the answer? If so, when will we finally find out more?

2.5 stars: Well, I had plenty to do around the house so I decided to listen while I worked. Thankfully, some stuff actually happened (finally) but not enough. These books are so verbose, just weighed down with too many words. I still like quite a bit about the story but I don’t think I have it in me to continue with the series.

This was my favorite in the series so far!! This installment continued to add layers to the intricate politics of this world. New, dangerous threats were introduced, and we got to see different sides to certain characters. There’s the ever-looming threat of war, which creates a suspenseful atmosphere that makes you just want to keep reading. This book had the most action of all the books so far, including a nerve-wracking magical battle. I feel like the earlier books were putting pieces into place, and we’re finally seeing those pieces come into play
The romance in this installment was absolutely swoon-worthy, and I’m so happy to finally have Cassia and Lio on the same page. It’s so refreshing reading about Cassia and Lio since they’re so vastly different from the typical romantasy couple. They’re both fighters with words and schemes, and I love when they put their minds together. They’ve been able to develop their personalities both together and separate, which I think is what makes the romance in this series so strong.
The politics in this series are SO interesting. There’s so many players, and it’s hard to know who to trust. All of the characters and their motivations are so layered and complex, it really keeps you guessing. Things are finally working in the characters’ favor, and I can’t wait to see how this story continues to progress!

God, I love this series, these characters, and this world. With that said, I don't think this is the series for you if you aren't fully sold on all of the above mentioned. Vela Roth slowly, carefully unfurls the plot for this series, so there is a lot of what I would consider "down time." In this down time, there is a heavy focus on relationship-building, not only for the MCs Lio and Cassia, but between Cassia and the Hesperines overall (especially precious Zoe) as she prepares to make Orthros her new home for eternity. This is a very character-led fantasy with epic world building, high stakes political intrigue—for both the vampires and the humans—magic, and now we're getting into something with the Old Masters, who had basically reached myth status since they hadn't been seen/heard from in so long? How exciting!

I don't know why, but I figured I would be kind of over Lio and Cassia's romance four books in, but I absolutely am not. They are so incredibly good together, especially as Cassia continues to grow as a woman and settles into who she wants to be. At the same time, she is developing skills of her own and learning how to fully embrace her powers, even the ones not yet known to her. I feel like it is being hinted that Cassia is ultimately going to be one of the strongest, baddest bitches around, and I can't wait to continue to journey on with her. Together, with love and magic, Grace-bonded Lio and Cassia are unstoppable.

Crysanthos takes over as the full-time villain, when Lucis was previously in-and-out in the previous books. He is still present, but in a looming above everything type of way, not necessarily directly. Crysanthos is a very entertaining and believable villain, especially as we get into the lore with him and his brother and what has led him to hate the Hesperines so much.

I cannot stop obsessing over this series!

TLDR - I’m amazed that I’m still hooked on the romance but I most definitely am -

So this one took me longer to read cos life got busy (shame) but we definitely got more plot this time which was cool plus just general development in the story.

Our side characters are well and truly established and with the slow nature of this book no new ones were introduced yet. I did love seeing the MC’s interact with those side characters though, strengthening or starting small bonds and such. I still adore our MC’s with our FMC just being an absolute boss. She kicks ass and it’s amazing. Especially because so many fantasy books have the “strong” FMC as literally strong but ours isn’t a warrior, but still beautiful strong. Love it.

In terms of romance I loved that I can still be hooked on it but I am. Normally you’re hooked for a little after people come together but then it can get boring but the secrecy and the fact they’re still learning each other hooks me on the romance. No changes in smut levels. Still hot and sweet, minimal but still describes the birds and bees.

Overall I’m amazed I’m kept interested this far into the series but I definitely love it despite its weird narrative structure. It’s slow and i can’t say if everything is necessary but I’ve enjoyed all the little stuff so I’m glad they’ve been kept in

3.0 — So much goes on in the book, but not a lot of movement in the plot. I admire the author’s dedication to the world she’s built, the religion, the politics, the people, but…I wonder if there could be a bit more *happening*. Then again, I’m always sad when a book ends, so…why would I want to get there faster?

Happy reading!

It’s wonderful and I love how all the characters are progressing. They are all very well rounded and feel real, even in this fantasy setting. This author can world build with the best of them! It’s makes you feel like you are learning about a new culture or alien species with all the intricate details. There is so much depth to everyone and I really enjoy that character motivations, histories with others (which is crucial when dealing with immortals who’ve known each other hundreds of years) and flaws are so thoughtfully written.

The only reason I don’t feel like giving this one 5 stars is because there were multiple parts of the book where everyone was too safe and nothing was at stake. The action was missing in many parts of the book, but when things did start happening there were some fun surprises and it got exciting really quickly. I usually fly through books I like no matter how long they are but this series has a slower pace filled with rich, vibrant details that make me want to take it in small doses. I also often need breaks between books in the series to read something a little more fast paced or not as intellectual/wordy, if that makes sense.

By the way, a new villain is revealed in this one and I’m happy to say that Lio might have met his match! Can’t wait to discover how it goes down in future books.

Can I give more than 5⭐️ rating?
It’s just wow, I’m blown away by this story. Nothing can compete with this, so far it’s one of my favorites. Every book I read leaves a different imprint on me but this series got something more than that, it got to my soul. Vela has written it so well that I can’t stop praising her. Every book in this series has a unique aura to it and this fourth book is the best, it surprised me. The story had an element of surprise which I’m sure nobody saw coming, at one point I thought it was going to break my heart but then it made it more strong.

Cassia and Leo grow on you at a whole another level, their love, their dedication, and their strategies are just the best. For them, nothing is impossible when they are together. We get to see more of Rudhira in this book and I appreciate the detailing of it. Circumstances, people, and traditions are explained perfectly which gives a solid edge to the story. In the story, characters develop in their own way and had to fight their own battles. I’m so excited to see what challenges Cassia and Leo will face in the next book since a new level WAR is coming which is unpredictable.

Two stars purely because of how badly my patience is waning with the HUGELY bloated length of these books. The plot twist at the end and some of the political intrigue in the second half were almost the only redeeming things here, and with parts one and two of the next book at almost 800 pages EACH, this may be the end for me. Sorry Vela! Love the world building, but this series feels like a good example of why editors exist 🥴

I’m sorry but I can’t. It just goes on and on and on. Nothing is happening. Talk talk talk about absolutely nothing. You would have to turn into one of the immortals in this book to not feel your life waste away from reading this. I truly tried.

Needless to say, I love the book, the political intrigue, the maneuvers, the magic, the world building and the inclusion of a few of modern ailments all of it is coming together seamlessly with the romance and the personal struggle of each relevant character in the book.
the paragraphs below are more of a rant than a review. a rant about the events and how much I enjoyed the journey. so for anyone reading this you have been forewarned.

So, Blood Sanctuary: Part Two — finally, we start to see who the real antagonist is. Aside from Lucas the king (who, let’s be honest, has always seemed more like a marionette than a ruler), we now glimpse the hand pulling the strings. It turns out the king isn’t the only pawn in play .

By the end, we get a clearer idea of who the true villain is, though not yet why. His motives remain hidden.

What we do learn is that Cassia has been the target all along, and not only her. Leo’s power as a Bloodborn — a mind mage — makes him dangerous in ways we hadn’t seen before.

The “mind healing” abilities remind me of a kind of magical psychiatry, where he ventures into broken minds to help repair them. We see this most clearly with the first prince, when Leo talks him back from the brink of suicide. That moment was striking — it revealed something quite surprising about the immortals themselves. They can die, even by their own hand, which adds a surprising layer of fraility to their supposedly endless lives.

This book also gives us something the previous ones didn’t: payoff. The summit finally happens, with real discussions and political weight. After three books of world-building and setup, the pieces start moving, and it feels rewarding. Cassia’s magic is also confirmed — she is a mage, though she still has to discover her affinity. Everyone seems eager to recruit her now that she’s chosen to become a Hesperine.

Leo shows strong growth here, too. After the setbacks with his mind magic in the first part of Blood Sanctuary, we see him regain confidence and control. His success in driving the mind mage out of the mage apprentice mind felt like a turning point — both for him and for the series.

I actually paused halfway through this book to jot down notes about the different regions — Chordium, Tenebra, and the Empire — because the political map is getting more complex. But it’s satisfying complexity; the world finally feels alive. The summit concludes successfully, and for once, the book ends on a hopeful note.

Some readers might see this as a good stopping point if they’re growing tired of the series — it wraps up neatly enough. But for me, it only made me more curious. I want to know more about the immortals, about how Cassia will receive the Gift, and especially about her magic. Since the villain—who calls himself The Collector—seems fixated on her, I can’t help thinking her abilities are rare and important. And maybe his name hints at something too: perhaps he’s collecting “gifts.”

Overall, Blood Sanctuary: Part Two has the most action and momentum out of all the books so far. It feels like the story is finally hitting its stride. I finished it in just a couple of days, completely absorbed. The little “extra” at the end, about the human delegation leaving Anthros for Tenebra, was a nice touch—it showed the first signs of real progress toward peace between the two worlds. Cassia even manages to send her ambassadors back with a quiet plan for the free lords to guide the king toward retirement, replacing him with a better candidate.

So yes, this one definitely feels like a step up: more action, more payoff, less endless setup. The series is truly finding its rhythm now. I’ll move on to the fifth book soon—but before that, I think I’ll take a short break and read something different

Just when you think a book is good the next one comes out and it is even better! That’s what’s happening to me in this incredible series. The world building continues to draw me in, the storyline continues to captivate and hold me and the characters, well I just love Cassia and Lio. It’s such an epic addition to this adventure, it’s exciting and suspenseful, full of action and danger and then there is the threat of war and betrayal. It’s an emotional read, the love between the two mc’s is beautiful and their loyalty and dedication to each other and the peace they want to bring is incredible and yes I did shed a few tears. Then the author threw in some twists I did not see coming and now I am anxious for the next book.

I can confidentally say that this is becoming my favourite series!

This book is rollercoaster full with plot twists, action, romance, found family and politcal schemes.

The pace is fast from beginning to end. Lio and Cassie have to make both rough and difficult choices. Do they choose for their own happiness or for the bigger good?

The characters begin to grow on me. Cassie, Lio, their family and friends, new and old allies and even some of the 'villians'.

The world-building, political scheming, the beautifully and well written characters make this series so enjoyable to read.

I am really excited to read the next part of their story!

The (current) HEA/conclusion for Lio and Cassia, from the Blood Grace series! This was an absolutely wholesome and satisfying wrap up to the series! The plot took some wild turns which I certainly wasn't expecting, and it concluded with an epic battle of magic and mind. Lio and Cassia's HEA was a wonderful payoff to all their moments over the past books.

The series isn't over yet though, and Blood Grace will continue with Blood Union part 1 in July! Can't wait to read more of Lio and Cassia, I can never get enough of them 🤍

This one wasn't as exciting as the previous ones, at least it didn't capture my attention as the others did, but still a lot of progress and romantic revelations. I am ready for us to move on from certain parts, but I love what Leo and Cassia are able to accomplish. I love seeing them in a loving home with loving friends and family.
The Hesperines are my favorite and I want to get to know them a lot more.

The fated mates finally told each other they’re fated mates. We got some action/plot developments kind of out of no where. I liked the political and family aspects. And I also appreciated what they decided at the end of this book. I will say, they really frustrated me with the unnecessary angst at the beginning of this book.

This was very slow and boring. A lot of bloat in it. Just characters doing character things. I'm also salty that I had to buy two physical books AND two audiobooks, as well as review two different parts. Don't call it one book if it's really two.

loved this book. great fourth book in the series. super excited to read the next one.

i’m very intrigued by the villain and what is to come on that front. i liked the stakes in this book, at some points they were high. but i feel like our two main characters haven’t faced a BIG test yet, and what can i say, im hoping for some angst🤭

I feel like the end had random action that felt a bit jarring compared to the chill times before. I feel like some amount of progress was made for the main couple which was good. They finally stopped avoiding a conversation because it isn't talked about but like the lady is human and doesn't know things!

If the Blood Prince doesnt get his grace some day in this series ill literally cry. His story breaks my hert and his pain feels so raw and real in this installment. I love how the secondary characters are so well developed that i gain an attachment to every single one of them. This series has me in a chokehold and i think ill reread again and again!
