Crow

Rate this book
I was sixteen when I lost my family. Tied to a banister, I watched as they were brutalized, tortured, and murdered without remorse before the assailants turned on me.

If only they had rid this world of my presence.

It’s a mistake that will eventually prove deadly for them.

I’m no longer a person with a soul. Darkness consumes me as I seek my revenge. My brothers are the only thing that keeps me above water when I feel like drowning. My rage is all-consuming and being part of the brotherhood allows me the freedom to purge when it’s needed.

Emotions are a distant memory, something I want no part of. They make people weak and leave them vulnerable. As the Dirty Mavericks VP, weakness could get me and my brothers killed.

Seems fate has other plans for me though, coming in the form of a tiny silver-eyed vixen who’s fourteen years my junior.

Sage tests my limits and my control. She’s surrounded by light while I’m shrouded in darkness. She’s everything I can’t afford to have, yet I want to corrupt her anyway.

When my past collides with my present and takes Sage away, her tarnished halo could be the one thing that helps me save her.

I wish Goodreads let you do half stars because for me this was a 50/50 read and I feel it’s a solid 2.5.

I started and stopped this book several times. I loved the first book in this series and I am so disappointed with this one. I don’t like to give less than positive reviews, because different people like different things, but this book just made me angry.

Here are my main thoughts:
1. The first half-ish,of a long book, was a repeat of Wraith’s book. Why?
2. We are suppose to believe Sage is a “mature, old soul” 17 year old and she is a typical bratty, immature, game playing teenager.
3. Crow is tagged as this broken badass who is full of rage and anger. I get it, he experienced a life altering trauma, but he seemed just as immature as Sage. I think the truest words in this book were….“he’s still the man that was emotionally stunted at sixteen”.
4. They both throw the “love” word back and forth, whether speaking it aloud or thinking it, but neither act in love. Crow is always hurting her and she is always trying to make him jealous. He’s screwing club whores and she’s screwing a guy from another club. SERIOUSLY?
5. The book does get better the last third. We get to the meat of the story, secrets come to light, they both grow up a bit and the mystery is solved.

I’m a reader, not a writer, so I always hesitate to say a story could be written differently. However, I skimmed well over half this book and didn’t miss anything, still followed the storyline and enjoyed the justice served.

I know a lot of people have changed their opinion on Crow after reading his story. I DID NOT! The fact that he saw what his father did and how it affected and hurt his mother showed me that he knew exactly what he was doing to Sage. I know he had reasoning and was using it to push Sage away and he says his intentions were to protect her but he went about it the wrong way. For me that made him irredeemable. I don't care to hear his excuses. I knew he was damaged by what happened to his family but I still can't forgive him. That being said I love that Sage made him sweat. I did find the beginning of the story very repetitive since we read that in Wraith's story. That being said I think readers can read Sage and Crow's story as a stand alone without having to read Wraith's book so it serves a purpose. I loved Sage. I will never like Crow. I'm glad I read their story even though it made my blood pressure go up. Their journey was not an easy or pretty one but Sage was worth reading their story for. I definitely look forward to seeing where this series goes in the future.

Wow, what an amazing read this was.
Because I read Wraith and Nova's story in book 1, the first part of Crow and Sage's story I skipped parts to get through it. It's mosly what happened in Wraith's book, but now it was Crow and Sage's side. Part two was what was holding my attention right till the end.

There's a lot of push and pull moments between the hero and heroine. At some point I wanted to throw my iPad because of the hero being so stupid. He was a real douche-canoe most of the time, but eventually he took the blinders of his eyes and realized what a wonderful person Sage was and how he really felt. Now Sage was an amazing character and so forgiving especially when it came to Crow and his shenanigans.

There's a lot of triggers with this book and be prepared that one of them is torture and it's bad.

This was an excellent read, a bit on the dark side but very, very good.

*3.5 Star Read*

In my mind, this is a solid 3.5 star read, but I am not sure which direction I am going to rate this because you can't use half stars. I just know that I have a lot to say about this book, and most of it isn't flattering. I am disappointed to say the lease.

This book is approximately 750 pages give or take, which wasn't the problem for me. I was ready to get my fill of Crow and his Little Dove. In order to get the full effect though, I think, I am going to break this review down into three sections.

The First 30-40 Percent - Retelling of Wraith
I hate to do this, but I wrote what I just wrote. I became angry when reading this section, and as I write this review, I am starting to feel some of that anger coming back. It's probably not for the reasons most people would expect. I knew going into this book that the timeline would have some of the early Crow and Sage moments that were witnessed in Wraith. From my understanding, these scenes were supposed to give greater incite into why Crow pushes his little dove away. He not only realizes that she's too young for him, but that she has a whole life to live, and it doesn't involve a broken man. It's honorable in a messed up thinking kind of a way.

I am a reader, and I am all for giving a reader what they want. We demanded Crow and Sage. I know for me, I love when the bad biker falls for the hurt sister. It's just one of those sub-tropes that I can fall into and never come out of. However, where this went horribly wrong is that the first section of Crow is a literal retelling of Wraith. It starts from the time that Nova enters the clubhouse until she marries Wraith. There's nothing new here. The scenes that are supposed to give more incite - they don't. This is literally a waste of time. If I wanted to reread Wraith, I would have done so. To say that I was counting down until this section was over is an understatement. If the author wanted to give more details into certain scenes, there was definitely a better way of doing this.

Second 30% - Tentative Relationship (I mean that very lightly.)
There's a seven year span from the time this book starts, until it ends. I don't think that helps the situation. In this section, we finally get to see a little bit of what a real relationship between Crow and Sage might look like. It's pretty repetitive including the word choices. He does something stupid or doesn't open up to her. Everyone and their brother gives him advice on how lucky he is. They never help him realize his mistakes, or he's just too pigheaded to figure out what's going on. The jury is still out on that one. She takes it for awhile, until she gets mad and walks away. Throw in a hidden enemy that they can't figure out, and that's it. Rinse. Repeat. Here's my little disclaimer for this section: I am not sure I really gave it a chance. I was so angry at the time that was spent in the first section, that I really was just over this whole thing. I think if this had been the start of the book, it would have had the push/pull element that the author was going for. Instead, it just seemed really childish and flat.

The Last 30% - The Good Stuff
This is where everything comes together. Stuff starts to make sense, and the big reveals are in place. The ending is everything! It's so good. It's everything that I could ever want for these two characters. It's just a little too late. I am not sure the ending saves this.

Oh lord where do I start? This has the worst H and h I’ve ever read I think. This is not a romance this is a train wreck that kept going and going or in the H’s case coming down club whores throats.

The h falls in love with the H and lol the H falls with her. She is young and sister is the Prez’s girl. So starts a fucked up relationship that goes on over years. The H fucks so many women it’s a wonder is dick did not fall off from over use.

He on purpose does stuff with club who’re in front of her and she still continues to go after him. She is a V but gives it up to someone else after waiting years for the H. She on purpose gets this OM to give her oral in front of the H. Then starts 4 more years of them doing oral in each other while fucking others until he finally fucks her. Then it takes him a while to claim her.

This was a mess the plot was sort of stupid with things that made no sense and made the club seem awful stupid with how many traitors they had there. The sex was all over the place so when they finally got together I did not give a shit. I was like hope they got tested. You can get a STD from oral and god knows there was a lot of that going on.

The kidnapping and torture and scars of h with a 4 year old kid as witness was like what the hell? What is the point? It did not make me believe in the H’s love. It was over drawn and dragged out. He had trauma and used it as an excuse to keep the h away. He treated her like crap and she kept running begging pick me pick me. It was lacking plot and I got bored. I did not believe H loved her. I think the h was just infatuated and there was a screw missing for her to still want to be with that walking STD jackass.

You won’t find romance here or a good plot you will find cringe worthy sex scenes and a weak plot if two fucked up people settling on each other.

I admit I did read this before Wraith, but it didnt matter...I was hooked from page one! Crow had something so heartbreaking happen to him when he was young, and it made him the man he is today. He was full of darkness, vengeance and rage, and he knew he was destined for nothing else. When Sage comes along,he tried everything to push her away but she kept at it,even though he put her through so much. The love they have for each other is so apparent, and it only grows throughout the book. I'm so looking forward to seeing what comes next!

Holy book batman ♡. This story takes you on such a wild ride. The main character Crow kind of reminds me of Eric Draven ( he is the main character in The Crow), both have a lot to work do for their endgame but they both accomplish it. This book left me glued to my kindle, eating up the story has I go. All i gotta say is she needs to write more.

This was one whopping story, packed with angst and a roller coaster ride of emotion. The characters were well written, and the storyline was interesting. I did find it a bit long, but otherwise loved it!

1.5 stars. Well… I finished it after a lot of skimming. Some good angst and they did seem to get their HEA… but good grief, for a self described “devil”- Crow was a weak, coward for most of this book. His past and present caused all of Sage’s heartache and eventually physical pain. Unfortunately, Sage wasn’t much better- letting Crow be a coward, putting up with his callous, demeaning treatment of her -over and over. It was hard to feel bad for either of them, especially Crow.

And how was Ginger still allowed to be a club whore? After what she did to Sage and what happened with other two psychotic clubwhores - you’d think the club brothers would learn. But no, these guys were more concerned with partying and fucking everything with a pulse to keep the threats to their club at bay. They couldn’t figure out shit after years of direct threats. They were a totally useless and lame MC.

up and down ride.

This book had lots of ups and downs. I read it right after the first one and they really flow together. I recommend that if possible. There is a note from the author in the front that indicates we may hate Crow at point, but I didn’t. I could just see his brokenness as much of a beacon as any light would be. It touches some very gritty issues that may be triggering for something. Be sure to read the disclaimer. This book took some twists and turns that I wasn’t expecting. And I always appreciate that. I will read more of this author for sure and I can’t wait until book 3 comes out. Steamy too.

To say this book is fantastic is a huge understatement. I have loved Crow and Sage since being introduced to them in Wraith. I knew their story was going to hurt, but I was not prepared for the emotional rollercoaster that they put me through. It was heartbreaking, full of angst, pain, drama, and healing. I absolutely loved it from beginning to end, and can not wait to see what happens next in this series.

I liked it but it was way too long!! It was repetitive over and over and back and forth of push and pull between Sage and Crow. The first part is like the 1st book but in the perspective of Sage and Crow. Not much was learned through this repetitive POV. Part 2 was 10 times too many of Crow pushing Sage away. The last 65% was when it got decent and new content that wasn’t repetitive from book 1. This book spans over several years

The push and pull was deliciously angsty, but I wish that they had gotten together earlier in the book. I dislike IMMENSELY what he did to push the heroine away. I mean, he crushed her! What I loved? That she went on to have a physical relationship with OM that she got to flaunt in front of Crow. That videocall? Worth the price of admission right there.

🖤💫🖤Crow and Sage🖤💫🖤

The second book in the Dirty Mavericks MC is a doozy; make sure you proceed with caution. Their love was formed through pain; it took them years to finally make it work. it blossomed to the most purest love, well done, author Lynne Leslie.

The first 33ish chapters are a review

The first 33ish chapters are a review of Wraith. Reason for 4 stars. At 750ish pages that was over-kill on the recap.
Otherwise, the rest of itis a great story!

Crow was sixteen when he lost his family in the most horrific way, he was tied up and made to watch as they were brutalized, tortured, and murdered without remorse before the assailants turned on him, he has lived with this memory and the emotional scars throughout his whole life. Crow is now the Dirty Mavericks VP and his darkness and uncaring nature makes him a natural for this role. Sage is rescued by the MC club, she is fourteen years younger than Crow but he instantly felt the need to protect, care and look out for her. These feelings were unknow to Crow so he struggles with the emotions and keeps pushing her away.

We are then taken on a seven year journey with the push and pull between these two, Sage never gives up even when Crow says and does some damaging things to her, in his mind he is just protecting her until one day he realises he will lose Sage from his life if he does not pull his head in and admit how he feels.

This book is long, I have read a few books that were this length and they were warranted for the story but this book did not need to be anywhere as long as it was, The first part was a recycled storyline from book one Wraith which I do not believe we needed. It could have easily been broken down to give the readers the perspective from Crow. The second part was worth the read and I even shed tears quite a few times, If we didn't have part one i would've given this book 5 stars but because the first part was reading a storyline I already knew, I dropped a star.

OMFGOSH!! Lynne did an outstanding job with Crow. I absolutely loved it. It is a very dark read that does have triggers, so take the warnings to heart. I really wanted to just smack Crow upside the head and more. I hated how he treated Sage. I knew it was going to happen since I saw how he was in Wraith. What happened to him and his family is just heart shattering. When he finally removes his head from his a$$ and his love and walls come down with Sage, it is beautiful. Sage is so strong and I loved her sass, feistiness and the fire inside her. This took me one one flipping crazy emotional ride. I laughed, cried, yelled, cried some more, almost threw my kindle and cried some more and laughed some more. These two went through so much to get to where they are and it was a loooong, bumpy and twisty turny road. The connection that Sage and Crow has is absolutely unbreakable and you see it throughout this book and their chemistry… oh my hotness. 🔥🔥🔥 I cannot wait to read Steel’s story. These men are flawed, somewhat broken, but the women that catch their attention are so dang strong. They are warriors who will fight for their men and family.

I hate him, I loathe him, he’s okay, I hate him, I still loathe him, I love him. Yeah, you will run the gamut of emotions with Crow. He is a total a**hole for a big portion of the story. Even though he has reason to hold his emotions in, I cannot believe that Sage put up with his bullsh*t. She is a much better person than I would have been. In another review, the person pointed out that the first half of the book is pretty much a retelling of Wraith and I agree, if you read Wraith you know what is happening but I do think it gives a good backstory told from Crow and Sage’s point of view. Lynne knows how to pull all of the emotions out of you. There are so many moments I was blubbering like a baby. If you want a story that will put you through the wringer, then this is it. Every story Lynne writes is emotional but by the end of the story I am always smiling and so happy. Nothing different in this story, I was smiling and so happy for Crow and Sage. This is a long book so beware once I started I had a hard time putting it down.

I received a complimentary copy from the author.

This author warned us ahead of time that these characters had a lot to say and her gift to us is this beautiful, heartbreaking, HOT, huge book.  This book is an emotional rollercoaster to say the least. Crow had a tragic, heartbreaking time in his life that left him cold, unfeeling, with a black heart. At least that's the way he thought until he laid eyes on Sage, his "Little Dove". The chemistry between these two is off the charts HOT, HOT, HOT. I love that even though Crow is a major a*^ at times, even though his reasons may be valid, Sage is relentless in her love for him. She never gives up on him and she won't let him give up on himself. He shows her a side to himself that others never see. Crow and his Little Dove has taken us on a fantastic journey and I can't wait to what's next in this series. Well done Ms. Leslie! I wish I could give Crow more than 5 stars.

Let me start by saying this was the longest book I have read to date. Having read Wraith, heading into Crow we got a good background into Sages and Crows relationship.
In Crow we got to see what we already knew but from their POV and this is what I struggled with a little. I found myself skimming in bit to get to part 2.
Now let me tell you part 2 did not disappoint. As much as I wanted to dislike Crow I just couldn’t. He was broken and did things he thought were right and I understood why. I also believed that he wholly love Sage but didn’t know how to deal with it. Sage was strong, sassy and for once didn’t sit around pining for the love of her life.
She went through so much, much more than anyone should have to but she was strong and fierce throughout

This book!!! I have to admit that Crow had me so angry through the first part of this book. I wanted to shake some sense into him. Sage deserved so much more than what he out her through even if it was to protect her. You can see the love they have for each other and it's heartbreaking to watch it all play out. Sage is an amazing soul! The faith and love that she has for Crow had me in tears. For her to be able to see a side of him that he couldn't even see himself and to hold on knowing the hurt he would cause her...breathtaking!
This series is shaping up to be one hell of a ride and I am here for it! I can't wait to get a hold of Steel, let alone Phantom and Blade. These men are HOT!

**This book does have triggers beware.** Crow has demons from his childhood that haunt him 20 years later. The only way he knows how to cope is by lashing out any way he can whether it is alcohol, violence or sex. He just wants to settle the chaos for even just a minute. When he rescues Sage, he has a natural pull to her as she does for him. Sage's love for Crow is unconditional. He puts her through so much and there is so much tragedy. She is a warrior and fights for those she loves. There will not be an emotion you don't feel while reading this book. This book will grab you from the very first page and will leave you wanting more when you read the last page.
