Tomione fanfiction at its finest. Hermione, or Carina, is completely different from what we usually think of. This would be an easy 5/5 if the middle didn't become so convoluted. Canis dying, Sirius going insane, and Regulus being left alone for 7 long years made it so difficult to read. For a little there I didn't even know which way the story would go since her entire life, both of them, was based primarily on protecting her brother. The reason the rating isn't lower is because I absolutely adoreeee Tom in this. He is less sociopathic maniac and more narcissistic aristocrat. This story could have easily flowed with Carina being a brand new character instead of a reincarnated Hermione Granger. All of the inner turmoil that she goes through is interesting to read, but sometimes the author tries too hard to be poetic and in return you don't actually understand what is happening. Without the end comments from the author I would not have been able to understand all of the details of the story, and I think a reader having to depend on explanation takes it away from the writing. Even with all of the criticism the ending really did come together and I adored her renewed relationship with all of the characters. There are a couple of things that I wished happened: Canis telling Carina that he remembers that he is Harry, her visiting him once she returned from the veil, and tom telling her he loves her. Overall highly recommend for the experience of reading about a Hermione Granger that acts more like Luna Lovegood.
PS: did anyone else catch that little flashback of hermione and draco? were they together in the past life? Did Neville betray them or Pansy or what in the world happened in that scene!?!?!?!?
PPS: why did harry and hermione even die?
